The concentration of trivalent americium and samarium in aqueous samples has been determined by means of alpha-radiometry and UV–Vis photometry, respectively, after chemical separation and pre-concentration of the elements by cation-exchange using Chelex-100 resin. Method calibration was performed using americium (241Am) and samarium standard solutions and resulted in a high chemical recovery for cation-exchange. Regarding, the effect of physicochemical parameters (e.g. pH, salinity, competitive cations and colloidal species) on the separation recovery of the trivalent elements from aqueous solutions by cation-exchange has also been investigated. The investigation was performed to evaluate the applicability of cation-exchange as separation and pre-concentration method prior to the quantitative analysis of trivalent f-elements in water samples, and has shown that the method could be successfully applied to waters with relatively low dissolved solid content.  相似文献

The concentration of thorium in aqueous samples has been determined by means of alpha-spectroscopy and UV?CVis photometry after chemical separation and pre-concentration of the actinide by cation exchange and liquid-liquid extraction using Chelex-100 resin and 30%TBP in dodecan, respectively. Method calibration was performed using thorium standard solutions and resulted in a high chemical recovery for cation exchange and liquid extraction. Regarding, the effect of physicochemical parameters (e.g., pH, salinity, competitive cations, and colloidal species) on the separation recovery of thorium from aqueous solutions by cation exchange has also been investigated. The investigation was performed to evaluate the applicability of cation exchange and liquid extraction as separation and pre-concentration methods prior to the quantitative analysis of thorium in water samples, and has shown that the method could be successfully applied to waters with relatively low-salinity and metal ion contamination.  相似文献

A series of isostructural oxalates of Th, U, Np, and Pu have been synthesized. The crystal structure of {C(NH(2))(3)}(4)[An(C(2)O(4))(4)]·2H(2)O comprises infinite [An(C(2)O(4))(4)](4n-) chains, guanidinium cations and water molecules. Each An atom is connected to five oxalate anions, two of which act as bridging tetradentate ligands, while the other three function as terminating bidentate ligands. Electron and IR spectra of the compounds as well as the results of thermal analysis correlate with their structure. An actinide contraction effect is demonstrated by a decrease in the An-O interatomic distances and the volumes of An atom coordination polyhedra and Voronoi-Dirichlet polyhedra. Ten-coordinate An oxalates are discussed in terms of continuous shape measures approach.  相似文献

The extraction behaviour of Th(IV) and U(VI) in extraction chromatography has been investigated on the basis of partition and infrared studies. The stationary phase was purified undiluted TBP supported on Amberlite XAD-4 and the mobile phase was nitric acid. The results have shown that the equilibria for the extraction of Th(IV) and U(VI) by the TBP/XAD-4 resin agreed very closely with those in solvent extraction.  相似文献

An investigation has been made on the system liquid anion-exchanger-Cd(II)-NCS. The influence of the acidity and thiocyanate concentration of the aqueous phase on the extraction has been studied. Using various methods of analysis, it has been shown that the complex anion present in the organic extracts is Cd(NCS) 4 2− . Details are given concerning the removal of traces of Zn(II) from Cd(II)-containing solutions, and the quantitative separation of Cd(II) from Cr(III).  相似文献

Electrochemical and absorption spectroscopic properties of Pu(IV) and Pu(III) in nitric acid have been investigated by using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and UV–Visible spectroscopy. CV using a glassy carbon electrode suggested that the electrochemical reaction of Pu(IV) nitrate complexes were found to be a quasi-reversible reduction to Pu(III) species. The formal redox potentials (E 0) for Pu(IV)/Pu(III) couples were +0.721, +0.712, +0.706, +0.705, +0.704, 0.694, and +0.696 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) when nitric acid concentrations are 1–7 M nitric acid solutions, respectively. These results indicate that the reduction product of Pu(IV) is only Pu(III). Further details for reaction mechanism of Pu(IV) were discussed on the basis of digital simulation of the experimental cyclic voltammograms. The absorption spectroscopic properties of Pu(III) and Pu(IV) in nitric acid solutions were investigated with UV–Visible spectrophotometry. As a result, it was founds that the intensities of the characteristic absorption peaks of Pu(III) and Pu(IV) tend to decrease with increasing nitric acid concentration for 1–8 M, and the peaks positions shifted longer or shorter wavelengths depending on the complex-forming abilities of Pu(III) and Pu(IV) with an increase in the nitric acid concentration.  相似文献

The extraction behavior of Am(IV–VI) from high pH solutions in the presence of carbonates, pyrophosphates or polyphosphates of alkali metals and of Np(VI–VII) from alkaline solutions with acylpyrazolones (1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoylpyrazolone-5, PMBP) and extractants of the phenol type [bis(2-oxy-4-alkyl-benzoil)amin, CAAF] has been studied. The extraction ability of phenolic extractants with respects to Np(VII) is determined generally by its state in the alkaline solution. Maximum extraction is observed when Np(VII) is present as hydroxo complex and minimum extraction, when the solution contains oxo-ions. During the extraction the reduction of Np(VII) to Np(VI) is possible. Hexavalent neptunium can be extracted by phenol extractants too, but more slowly and with smaller distribution coefficients in comparison with Np(VII). The stabilization of transplutonium elements (TPE) in the highest oxidation states in alkaline solutions contaning carbonate and pyrophosphate ions, in combination with extraction by PMBP and CAAF, allows to realize the separation of transplutonium elements which are very similar in their properties. Methods of separation for americium and curium have been developed. They are based on the ability of trivalent curium to be extracted quantitatively from 0.1M sodium pyrophosphate solution (pH 10) and 1.0M potassium carbonate solution (ph 13.4) by PMBP in chloroform and by CAAF in carbon tetrachloride, respectively, with high distribution coefficients, whereas americium which is electrochemically oxidized to Am(VI) in these media, remains in the aqueous phase, since it reduces only to Am(V) when contacting the extractant. The separation factor of the couple Cm(III) Am(VI) is about 103.  相似文献

A simple, rapid method for the separation of hafnium from aqueous solutions has been investigated using(175+181)Hf tracer. Cationic hafnium complex ions were floated from dilute acid solutions with sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and anionic hafnium complexes were floated from basic and oxalic acid solutions with hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (HTMAB). The conditions necessary for quantitative recovery of the metal and mechanisms of flotation are described.Author to whom correspondence should be addressed.  相似文献

Distribution ratios of europium(III), thorium(IV), uranium(VI) and plutonium(IV) ions on Amberlyst A-15, a macroreticular polystyrene sulfonate resin, after extraction in HTTA-TBP-Shell Sol-T and HTTA-TOPO-benzene solutions have been determined as a function of the aqueous acidity. The affinity orders were EuPu>Th>U and Eu>Th>Pu>U in the former and the latter solutions, respectively. Separation factors were computed from the observed Kd values. A procedure for the separation of a mixture of Eu(III), Th(IV), and U(VI) ions in HTTA-TOPO-benzene solution in an ion-exchange column is described.  相似文献

A new method was developed, aiming to overcome the iron and titanium interferences which severely limit the applications of a recently introduced extraction chromatography material, referred to as RE resin (formerly, RE Spec), to the analysis of geological samples. The separation scheme is based on the combined use, in tandem columns, of the conventional AG50WX4 cation-exchange resin and the RE extraction chromatography material, without any intervening evaporation step. The Lanthanides are recovered quantitatively, while recoveries for Zr, Hf and Th range from 94 to 98%. These three elements are determined using the isotope dilution method, thereby alleviating the need for a yield correction. Compared with conventional methods based on cation-exchange, this combined scheme offers a greater multi-element capability, significant miniaturisation, acid wastes reduction, and a higher degree of purity of the separated analytes with regard to unwanted elements such as Ba and residual Ca and Al. This concomitant isolation of 17 trace elements of great interest in the Earth and Environmental Sciences, achieved with excellent recoveries and satisfactory blank levels, can be used prior to high precision analysis of ultra-trace elements in geological samples by ICP-Mass Spectrometry.  相似文献

For the system liquid anion-exchanger—Cr(III)−NCS, an investigation has been made of the dependence of the percentage extraction of Cr(III) on parameters such as standing time of the Cr(III)−NCS solution, temperature, pH and type of exchanger. Quantitative extraction of e.g. 4·10−4 M Cr(III) by 0.1M Aliquat in CCl4 is easily achieved at room temperature, using 4.75M KNCS−0.05N HCl as aqueous phase. At high Cr(III) concentrations, the complex anion present in the organic phase is Cr(NCS) 6 3− ; when working with dilute metal ion solutions, the species extracted is Cr(NCS)4 (H2O) 2 . Separations of mixtures containing 10−2−10−4 M Co(II), Ni(II) and Cr(III) have successfully been accomplished.  相似文献

In order to analyze actinide elements in radioactive metal waste, the dissolution and chemical separation conditions were optimized. The surfaces of a type 304 stainless steel plate and of pipe waste sampled from the prototype advanced thermal reactor (Fugen) were dissolved in mixed acid solution (HNO3:HCl:H2O = 1:1:4). The resulting solution was evaporated to dryness and dissolved with 2 mol/dm3 of HNO3 to prepare sample solutions. In order to analyze trivalent actinide elements in the sample solution containing a large amount of Fe(III) (>0.1 g) using TRU resin, the effect of Fe(III) concentration on the recovery of Am(III) and reduction effect of Fe(III) to Fe(II) with ascorbic acid were studied. On the basis of results of this study, chemical separation scheme was constructed and Pu and Am in the sample solutions were separated. Thorium and U in the sample solutions were separated with UTEVA resin. High recoveries for all experimented elements were obtained from the analysis of spiked sample solutions, the effectiveness of the method was confirmed.  相似文献

Summary The foam separation of zirconium(IV) from chloride solutions has been investigated over the 1.8–12 pH range using sodium lauryl sulphate or cetyl(trimethyl)ammonium bromide as collectors. The effects of gas flow rate, bubbling time, collector and zirconium(IV) concentrations, ageing of the metal ion, and ionic strength have been studied and the results are discussed in relation to the hydrolytic behaviour of zirconium(IV). Under optimum conditions,ca. 99.5% removal can be achieved.  相似文献

Extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) has been utilized to investigate the local atomic structure around Th, U, and Pu atoms in polycrystalline mixed dioxides Th(1-x)M(x)O2 (with M = U, Pu) for x ranging from 0 to 1. The composition dependence of the two first-coordination-shell distances was measured throughout the entire composition range for both solid solutions. The first-shell distances vary slightly across the solid-solution composition with values close to those of the pure dioxide parents, indicating a bimodal cation-oxygen distribution. In contrast, the second-shell distance varies strongly with composition, with values close to the weighted amount average distances. Nevertheless, in both systems, the lattice cell parameters, deduced from the first- and second-shell bond determined by EXAFS, are very close to those measured from X-ray diffraction (XRD). They vary linearly with composition, accurately following Vegard's law.  相似文献

The extraction behavior of Zr(IV), Ce(III), Th(IV) and U(VI) from aqueous solutions containing Arsenazo-I with the organic solvents tridodecylamine (TDA), 1-[thenoyl-(2)]-3-3-3-trifluoroacetone (HTTA), di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (HDEHP) and tricaprylmethylammonium chloride (TCMA) in xylene has been investigated. Effect of hydrogen ion concentration in the aqueous phase, Arsenazo-I concentration, as well as the effect of solvent concentration on the extraction was studied. Some alternatives for separation of the elements studied were recommended enabling the spectrophotometric determination of these elements using Arsenazo-I without interference.  相似文献

Bench-Scale studies on the partitioning and recovery of minoractinides from the actual and synthetic sulphate-bearing high level waste (SBHLW) solutions have been carried out by giving two contacts with 30% TBP to deplete uranium content followed by four contacts with 0.2M CMPO+1.2M TBP in dodecane. The acidity of the SBHLW solutions was about 0.3M. In the case of actual SBHLW, the final raffinate contained about 0.4% -activity originally present in the HLW, whereas with synthetic SBHLW the -activity was reduced to the background level.144Ce is extracted almost quantitative in the CMPO phase,106Ru about 12% and137Cs is practically not extracted at all. The extraction chromatographic column studies with synthetic SBHLW (aftertwo TBP contacts) has shown that large volume of waste solutions could be passed through the column without break-through of actinide metal ions. Using 0.04M HNO3>99% Am(III) and rare earths could be eluted/stripped. Similarly >99% Pu(IV) and U(VI) could be eluted.stripped using 0.01M oxalic acid and 0.25M sodium carbonate, respectively. In the presence of 0.16M SO 4 2– (in the SBHLW) the complex ions AmSO 4 + , UO2SO4, PuSO 4 2+ and Pu(SO4)2 were formed in the aqueous phase but the species extracted into the organic phase (CMPO+TBP) were only the nitrato complexes Am(NO3)3·3CMPO, UO2(NO3)2·2CMPO and Pu(NO3)4·2CMPO. A scheme for the recovery of minor actinides from SBHLW solution with two contacts of 30% TBP followed by either solvent extraction or extraction chromatographic techniques has been proposed.  相似文献

The polymerization of Pu(IV) in aqueous nitric acid solutions has been studied spectrophotometrically both to determine the effects of large UO2(NO3)2 concentrations on the polymerization rates and, more generally, to review the influence of other major parameters on the polymer reaction. Typically, experiments have been performed at 50°C and at 0.05M Pu in aqueous solutions of HNO3 at concentrations ranging from 0.07 to 0.4M. An induction period usually precedes the polymer growth stage, during which time it is believed that primary hydrolysis products form and begin to aggregate. Uranyl nitrate retards the polymerization reaction by approximately 35% despite the counteracting influence of the nitrate ions associated with this solute. The rate of polymer formation at 50°C has been shown to be third order in Pu(IV) concentration.  相似文献

Fibrous membranes based on poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(l-lactide) fabricated by electrospinning were evaluated for the first time as substrates for the adsorption of tetravalent thorium (Th(IV)) and hexavalent uranium (U(VI)) from aqueous media. The membranes consisted of microfibers with diameters of approximately 2 μm as revealed by scanning electron microscopy. The adsorption of Th(IV) and U(VI) on the membrane was investigated as a function of pH, ionic strength and initial metal concentration under normal atmospheric conditions. The experimental data indicated increased affinity of the membrane for Th(IV) and U(VI), which was pH depended and reaches maximum values (>90 %) for Th(IV) and U(VI) at pH 3 and pH 6.5, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity (q max) at optimum conditions was evaluated from the Langmuir isotherm and was found to amount 50.08 and 9.3 mmol kg?1 for Th(IV) and U(VI), respectively. In addition, studies on the effect of ionic strength on the adsorption efficiency did not show any significant effect indicating that the adsorption of Th(IV) and U(VI) on the membrane was most probably based on specific interactions and the formation of inner-sphere surface complexes. The significantly higher adsorption efficiency of the membrane for Th(IV) in acidic media (pH ≤ 3) could be utilized for a pH-triggered, selective separation of Th(IV) from U(VI) from aqueous media.  相似文献
