We show that for any simple piecewise Ljapunov contour there exists a power weight such that the essential norm |S | in the spaceL 2(, ) does not depend on the angles of the contour and it is given by formula (2). All such weights are described. For the union =12 of two simple piecewise Lyapunov curves we prove that the essential norm |S | inL 2() is minimal if both 1 and 2 are smooth in some neighborhoods of the common points. It is the case when the norm |S | in the spaceL 2() as well as inL 2(, ) does not depend on the values of the angles and it can be calculated by formula (5).  相似文献

The norm of the above-mentioned operatorS is computed on the unions of parallel lines or concentric circles. The upper bound is found for its norm on the ellipse. In case of weighted spaces on the unit circle, the exact norm is found for some rational weights, and necessary and sufficient conditions on the weight are established, under which the essential norm ofS equals 1.  相似文献

LetB be the Banach algebra of all bounded linear operators on the weighted Lebesgue spaceL p (T, ) with an arbitrary Muckenhoupt weight on the unit circleT, and the Banach subalgebra ofB generated by the operators of multiplication by piecewise continuous coefficients and the operatorse h,S T e h, –1 I (hR, T) whereS T is the Cauchy singular integral operator ande h,(t)=exp(h(t+)/(t–)),tT. The paper is devoted to a symbol calculus, Fredholm criteria and an index formula for the operators in the algebra and its matrix analogue . These shift-invariant algebras arise naturally in studying the algebras of singular integral operators with coefficients admitting semi-almost periodic discontinuities and shifts being diffeomorphisms ofT onto itself with second Taylor derivatives.Partially supported by CONACYT grant, Cátedra Patrimonial, No. 990017-EX and by CONACYT project 32726-E, México.  相似文献

The topic of the paper is the asymptotic Moore-Penrose inversion of singular integral operators by means of the trigonometric collocation and the finite section method. Two versions (a weak and a strong one) of these methods are considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the applicability of the weak method, and sufficient conditions for the strong method, are derived. These conditions involve a certain asymptotic resp. exact kernel structure of the approximation matrices.Partially supported by the HCM project ROLLS under contract CHRX-CT 93-0416 (both authors) and by a DFG Heisenberg grant (S. We describe the Fredholm symbol algebra for theC *-algebra generated by two dimensional singular integral operators, acting onL 2(2), and whose symbols admit homogeneous discontinuities. Locally these discontinuities are modeled by homogeneous functions having slowly oscillating (and, in particular, piecewise continuous) discontinuities on a system of rays outgoing from the origin.These results extend the well-known Plamenevsky results for the two dimensional case. We present here an alternative and much clearer approach to the problem.Rostov State University RussiaPartially supported by Russian Fund for Fundamental Investigations, RFFI-98-01-01-023, and by CONACYT project 32424-EPartially supported by CONACYT Project 27934-E, México.  相似文献

In this paper we study the Banach algebra of singular integral operators with piecewise continuous coefficients and a Carleman orientation-reversing slowly oscillating shift on the Lebesgue space with a power weight on the unit circle. The slow oscillation of the shift derivative, in contrast to the classic assumption on its piecewise continuity, leads to the appearance of massive local spectra for the considered operators. Applying localization techniques and the theory of Mellin pseudodifferential and associated limit operators, we construct a symbol calculus for the above-mentioned operator algebra and find a Fredholm criterion and an index formula for the operators in this algebra in terms of their symbols.Partially supported by CONaCYT grant, Cátedra Patrimonial, No. 990017-EX and by CONACYT project 32726-E, México.Partially supported by F. Applying the results on singular integral operators with the complex conjugation on curves with cusps (see R. Duduchava, T. Latsabidze, A. Saginashvili, 1992, 1994) the explicit formula for the local norm of the Cauchy singular integral operator on a curve with cusps in a Lebesgue space with an exponential weightL 2 (, ) is obtained. For curves with angles the formula was already known (see R. Avedanio, N. Krupnik, 1988).  相似文献

We consider Toeplitz operators with piecewise continuous symbols and singular integral operators with piecewise continuous coefficients onL p (,w) where 1<p<,w is a Muckenhoupt weight and belongs to a large class of Carleson curves. This class includes curves with corners and cusps as well as curves that look locally like two logarithmic spirals scrolling up at the same point. Our main result says that the essential spectrum of a Toeplitz operator is obtained from the essential range of its symbol by joining the endpoints of each jump by a certain spiralic horn, which may degenerate to a usual horn, a logarithmic spiral, a circular arc or a line segment if the curve and the weightw behave sufficiently well at the point where the symbol has a jump. This result implies a symbol calculus for the closed algebra of singular integral operators with piecewise continuous coefficients onL p (,w).Research supported by the Alfried Krupp Förderpreis für junge Hochschullehrer of the Krupp Foundation.  相似文献

An operatorT on the spaceH(G) of holomorphic functions on a domainG is strongly omnipresent whenever there is a residual set of functionsfH(G) such thatT f exhibits an extremely wild behaviour near the boundary. The concept of strong omnipresence was recently introduced by the first two authors. In this paper it is proved that a large class of integral operators including Volterra operators with or without a perturbation by differential operators has this property, completing earlier work about differential and antidifferential operators.The work of the first two authors has been partially supported by DGES grant PB96-1348 and the Junta de Andalucía.  相似文献

LetP be a projection (non-selfadjoint in general), andV a selfadjoint involution acting in a Hilbert spaceH. In this paper the polynomialsF(X, Y, Z) of three non-commuting variables are described such that the norms F(P, P *,V) depend only on P. A method of calculation of the norms F(P, P *,V) for such polynomials is given. For polynomialsF(P, P *) this problem was investigated in [KMF], [FKM].  相似文献

We present a Riesz representation theorem in the setting of extended integration theory as introduced in [6]. The result is used to obtain boundedness theorems for integral operators in the more general setting of spaces of vector valued extended integrable functions.  相似文献

Singular integral equations with Cauchy kernel and piecewise-continuous matrix coefficients on open and closed smooth curves are replaced by integral equations with smooth kernels of the form(t–)[(t–) 2n 2 (t) 2]–1,0, wheren(t), t , is a continuous field of unit vectors non-tangential to . we give necessary and sufficient conditions under which the approximating equations have unique solutions and these solutions converge to the solution of the original equation. For the scalar case and the spaceL 2() these conditions coincide with the strong ellipticity of the given equation.This work was fulfilled during the first author's visit to the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics, Berlin in October 1993.  相似文献

The Banach algebra generated by one-dimensional linear singular integral operators with matrix valued piecewise continuous coefficients in the spaceL p (,) with an arbitrary weight is studied. The contour consists of a finite number of closed curves and open arcs with satisfy the Carleson condition. The contour may have a finite number of points of selfintersection. The symbol calculus in this algebra is the main result of the paper.  相似文献

We continue the study of algebras generated by the Cauchy singular integral operator and integral operators with fixed singularities on the unit interval, started in R.Duduchava, E.Shargorodsky, 1990. Such algebras emerge when one considers singular integral operators with complex conjugation on curves with cusps. As one of possible applications of the obtained results we find an explicit formula for the local norms of the Cauchy singular integral operator on the Lebesgue spaceL 2 (, ), where is a curve with cusps of arbitrary order and is a power weight. For curves with angles and cusps of order 1 the formula was already known (see R.Avedanio, N.Krupnik, 1988 and R.Duduchava, N.Krupnik, 1995). Let a\alpha and b\beta be bounded measurable functions on the unit circle T. The singular integral operator Sa, bS_{\alpha ,\,\beta } is defined by Sa, b f = aPf + bQf(f ? L2 (T))S_{\alpha ,\,\beta } f = \alpha Pf + \beta Qf(f \in L^2 (T)) where P is an analytic projection and Q is a co-analytic projection. In the previous paper, the norm of Sa, bS_{\alpha ,\,\beta } was calculated in general, using a,b\alpha ,\beta and a[`(b)] + H\alpha \bar {\beta } + H^\infty where HH^\infty is a Hardy space in L (T).L^\infty (T). In this paper, the essential norm ||Sa, b ||e\Vert S_{\alpha ,\,\beta } \Vert _e of Sa, bS_{\alpha ,\,\beta } is calculated in general, using a[`(b)] + H + C\alpha \bar {\beta } + H^\infty + C where C is a set of all continuous functions on T. Hence if a[`(b)]\alpha \bar {\beta } is in H + CH^\infty + C then ||Sa, b ||e = max(||a|| , ||b|| ).\Vert S_{\alpha ,\,\beta } \Vert _e = \max (\Vert \alpha \Vert _\infty , \Vert \beta \Vert _\infty ). This gives a known result when a, b\alpha , \beta are in C.  相似文献

Some principles of the operator theory in a linear space with two norms are established in this paper. The well-known Hilbert-Schmidt theorem on the eigenfunction expansion of sourcewise represented functions, Mercer's theorem and other results can be consider as special cases of the statements presented. The general approach proposed is used to construct the theory of symmetrizable operators and to investigate the asymptotic behaviour of eigenvalues of compact operators.This paper was translated by M. We prove the well-posedness of the transmission problem for the Laplacian across a Lipschitz interface, with optimal non-tangential maximal function estimates, for data in Lebesgue and Hardy spaces on the boundary. As a corollary, we show that the spectral radius of the (adjoint) harmonic double layer potential K∗ in is less than , whenever is a bounded convex domain and 1<p?2.  相似文献
