Automorphism groups of real algebraic curves which are double covers of the real projective plane

For each integer g≥ 3 we give the complete list of groups acting as full automorphism groups of real algebraic curves of genus $g$ which are double covers of the real projective plane. Defect of a nodal hypersurface

Irregularity of certain algebraic fiber spaces

Let X, Y be smooth complex projective varieties, and be a fiber space whose general fiber is a curve of genus g. Denote by q _f the relative irregularity of f. It is proved that , if f is not generically trivial; moreover, if either a) f is non-constant and the general fiber is either hyperelliptic or bielliptic or b) q(Y)= 0, then , and the bound is best possible. A classification of fiber surfaces of genus 3 with q _f = 2 is also given in this note. Received: 19 March 1997 / Revised version: 29 October 1997     

On the divisor class group of double solids

For a double solid V→ℙ_3> branched over a surface B⊂ℙ₃(ℂ) with only ordinary nodes as singularities, we give a set of generators of the divisor class group in terms of contact surfaces of B with only superisolated singularities in the nodes of B. As an application we give a condition when H ^* (˜V , ℤ) has no 2-torsion. All possible cases are listed if B is a quartic. Furthermore we give a new lower bound for the dimension of the code of B. On a hyperplane section theorem of Gurjar

A hyperplane section theorem by R. V. Gurjar [3] is given a short proof. Power series in any number (at least three) of variables satsifying the condition of the theorem are explicitly constructed. In the course of the proof, the restrictive-looking condition of the theorem is given an easy sufficient condition from the view point of the weighted projective spaces.
