The bandwidth of a gyro-TWT (traveling-wave tube) can be widened by employing a dielectric-loaded waveguide to reduce the circuit's dispersion. Fast wave interaction allows the requirements on the beam's quality to be relaxed compared with slow wave interaction. A low-α (≡νz) electron beam is chosen to avoid the absolute instability and minimize the possibility of dielectric charging. This device is investigated using a self-consistent single-mode, large-signal simulation based on a slow time scale formulation. Simulation results show that a constant drive bandwidth of 20% can be achieved for a 100 kV, 5 A electron beam with a velocity ratio of α=0.59 and an axial velocity spread of 2.0%. The growth rate is relatively low because of the low α of the electron beam. The design of a proof-of-principle experiment is described. The tube is expected to deliver a power of 80 kW from 9 to 11 GHz with 15% efficiency and a saturated gain of 30 dB. The performance of a single-anode magnetron injection gun designed to produce the required high-quality electron beam has been studied through simulation  相似文献

条纹变像管因其超高时间分辨特性而成为实现皮秒至飞秒量级时间分辨的重要测量仪器.本文设计了一种同时兼顾高时空分辨的行波偏转器前置短磁聚焦条纹变像管.该管型通过减小电子渡越时间以抑制空间电荷效应、采用偏转器前置以及行波偏转方式提高偏转灵敏度,实现整管时空分辨率的大幅提升.利用CST微波工作室有限元法数值计算条纹变像管行波偏转器的通频带宽、偏转灵敏度,结果表明:本设计中的行波偏转器因其较高的通频带宽特性实现了偏转器上的电磁波相速度在很宽频率范围内与电子轴向群速度匹配,产生更有效偏转.利用CST粒子工作室模拟追踪光电子的运行轨迹,通过最佳像面上的时间调制传递函数和空间调制传递函数,计算得到其理论时间分辨率可达220 fs,空间分辨率高于100 lp/mm.同时根据像差定义给出追踪实际电子轨迹的像差计算方法,实现对变像管成像质量评价.最后利用紫外灯对其进行静态测试,获得静态空间分辨率优于35 lp/mm的结果.  相似文献

Theoretical Study for Folded Waveguide Traveling Wave Tube   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
A wideband folded waveguide traveling-wave tube (TWT) amplifier has advantages of simpler coupling structures and robust structure over the conventional helix TWT. The phase velocity of waves in folded waveguide is slowed down to the velocity of electron beam. Slow-wave interaction with the electron beam in folded waveguide is studied in a linear fashion. For a cold beam, the linear theory predicts a gain of 2 dB/cm and a bandwidth of 37% at the center frequency of 14 GHz. A closed algebraic dispersion relation for the frequency and the axial phase shift per period is obtained using an equivalent circuit model. Numerical solution calculated from the dispersion relation and three-dimensional electromagnetic code, HFSS simulations predict a mode coalescing in the folded waveguide. And a theoretical phase velocity prediction of the electromagnetic wave in this circuit is verified by HFSS simulations.  相似文献

Electromagnetic wave propagation in a circular waveguide with an axially-placed discharge tube is discussed. Fundamental properties of slow and fast waves are derived from the dispersion formula and a simple oscilloscopic method for the identification of these two waves is demonstrated. The electron density is obtained from the measured phase velocity by numerical calculation of dispersion equation (for real plasma permittivity). 由于行波管的工作依赖于其慢波系统中的电子注与沿轴传输交变电磁场之间的相互作用而完成,而这样的相互作用要求沿轴传输的交变电磁场必须与电子注有着近乎同步的速度,所以慢波系统内的同步问题就成了研究行波管的一个很重要的问题.而变周期慢波系统是将一般慢波系统的周期进行变化而形成的,它可以比原周期慢波系统有着更宽的带宽,更高的互作用效率,还可以选择空间谐波.本文分析了变周期慢波系统内的空间谐波,提出了使慢波系统内的一次空间谐波一直与电子注同步所需要满足的原则,最后以变周期折叠波导为例,证明了这个原则. 关键词: 变周期 慢波系统 空间谐波 同步  相似文献

Within the context of electronic transport in a single-walled carbon nanotube, electron velocity (Fermi velocity) is calculated by using a particle-in-a-box model and assuming a prototype single-wall tube in which the Fermi velocity is the average value of the electron velocity as a function of the tube radius when all the possible radii are considered. The result of this calculation is compared with the well-known result obtained from a tight-binding approximation and with experimental data.  相似文献

Propagation of tube waves in an infinite fluid-filled borehole, generated by a single-force point source placed in the elastic surrounding formation, is analyzed in the long-wave approximation. Integral representations of the precise solution are obtained both for fast and slow formations. An asymptotic analysis of tube-wave propagation in the fluid-filled borehole is performed on the basis of these two integral representations. The complete asymptotic wave field in the borehole fluid for a fast formation consists of P and SV phases and the lowest eigenmode of the Stoneley wave (tube wave). For a slow formation the conical Stoneley wave (Mach wave) is generated. It appears only behind the critical angle defined by the ratio of the S wave velocity in the formation to the low-frequency Stoneley wave velocity and decays weakly with an offset. Asymptotic wave forms are in good agreement with wave forms obtained by straightforward calculations.  相似文献

实验室中水声材料声学参数的测量主要在水声声管中进行。管内平面波声速是正确测量这些参数的基础。该文提出一种基于四水听器结合不同边界的测量充水弹性管中声速的新方法。该方法利用4个固定位置处的水听器,采用最小二乘的方法,使得两组水听器分别得到的声管末端入射波声压差值的平方最小的声速即为管内平面波声速。该方法利用单频信号,在每一频率点均可测得声速,可以在任一种声管末端边界下进行测量,同时无需知道各水听器到边界的精确距离,在文中的3种边界下声速测量结果具有很好的一致性,实验操作简单、误差很小。该方法的仿真结果与管内声速的理论值吻合得很好,同时实验测量结果与仿真值之间的误差很小,证明了方法的准确性以及鲁棒性,为声管声速测量提供一个很好的思路。  相似文献

Nonlinear gas oscillations excited in an open tube by a flat piston at one of the tube ends are studied. The sinusoidal piston oscillations in the shock-free wave mode are created by a vibration exciter near the first eigenfrequency. Expressions for gas pressure oscillations are obtained for a tube with a nonrounded end without a flange and secondary flow velocity components. The influence of the piston displacement amplitude on the pressure range and secondary flow velocity of gas is studied. The theoretical calculations of the gas pressure are compared with experimental data. An estimate for the velocity of particle motion along the tube axis is presented with calculated values of the secondary flow velocity.  相似文献

In this paper, the transverse wave propagation in fluid-conveying viscoelastic single-walled carbon nanotubes is investigated based on nonlocal elasticity theory with consideration of surface effect. The governing equation is formulated utilizing nonlocal Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and Kelvin-Voigt model. Explicit wave dispersion relation is developed and wave phase velocities and frequencies are obtained. The effect of the fluid flow velocity, structural damping, surface effect, small scale effects and tube diameter on the wave propagation properties are discussed with different wave numbers. The wave frequency increases with the increase of fluid flow velocity, but decreases with the increases of tube diameter and wave number. The effect of surface elasticity and residual surface tension is more significant for small wave number and tube diameter. For larger values of wave number and nonlocal parameters, the real part of frequency ratio raises.  相似文献

This paper discusses the influence of an endoscope on the peristaltic flow of a couple stress fluid in an annulus under a zero Reynolds number and long wavelength approximation. The inner tube is uniform, rigid, while the outer tube has a sinusoidal wave traveling down its wall. Analytical expressions for the axial velocity, stream function and axial pressure gradient are established. The flow is investigated in a wave frame of reference moving with the velocity of the wave. Numerical calculations are carried out for the pressure rise, frictional forces and trapping. The features of the flow characteristics are analyzed by plotting graphs and discussed in detail.  相似文献

介绍了静电聚焦方式在毫米波行波管中的独特优势,分析了周期静电聚焦场的建立方法。基于某Ka波段行波管,首先根据指标要求设计了强流电子枪并选择类梳齿状结构作为其慢波电路,然后对电子枪和类梳齿状慢波电路组成的电子光学系统进行了模拟计算,最后对慢波电路的关键尺寸进行了容差分析。结果显示,在周期静电场的作用下,电子注全部平稳地通过了慢波系统。良好的静态通过率为后续高效率的注-波互作用奠定了基础,证明了利用静电场聚焦毫米波行波管中大电流密度电子注的可行性。  相似文献

We report the experimental observation of a "devil's staircase" in a time-dependent system considered as a paradigm for the transition to large-scale chaos in the universality class of Hamiltonian systems. A test electron beam is used to observe its non-self-consistent interaction with externally excited wave(s) in a traveling wave tube (TWT). A trochoidal energy analyzer records the beam energy distribution at the output of the interaction line. An arbitrary waveform generator is used to launch a prescribed spectrum of waves along the slow wave structure (a 4 m long helix) of the TWT. The resonant velocity domain associated to a single wave is observed, as well as the transition to large-scale chaos when the resonant domains of two waves and their secondary resonances overlap. This transition exhibits a "devil's staircase" behavior for increasing excitation amplitude, due to the nonlinear forcing by the second wave on the pendulum-like motion of a charged particle in one electrostatic wave.  相似文献

We report experimental and theoretical results from research into high power X-band traveling wave tube amplifiers designed to eliminate sidebands caused by reflections from the output of such structures. These amplifiers have a low energy velocity, such that the time it takes a wave to be reflected from the output to the input is of the order of, or greater than, the electron beam pulse duration. The elimination of sidebands and the effects of reflections is achieved by this transit time isolation, The bandwidth of the output spectrum is limited by the low pass-band of the periodic structures. Such amplifiers have been operated at power levels of up to 160 MW at 9 GHz for 50 ns pulse durations  相似文献

NASA Lewis Research Center is engaged in a program to develop a series of backward wave oscillators (BWO's) for the frequency range 500 to 2000 GHz. Generically BWO's are electron beam traveling wave tubes operating in a dispersive regime in which the group velocity and the phase velocity of the induced electromagnetic wave are in opposite directions. The oscillation frequency of a BWO is controlled by the electron beam velocity (anode voltage).Such tubes because of their frequency tunability, phase locking capability, and large bandwidth are ideal local oscillators for heterdyne receiver/spectrometers.The design of the BWO's will be discussed with emphasis on the etched slow wave structure, zero compression electron beam, long life cathode, and moderate operating voltages.  相似文献

在二阶微扰近似条件下, 采用导波模式展开分析方法研究了圆管结构中周向导波的非线性效应. 伴随基频周向导波传播所发生的二次谐波, 可视为由一系列二倍频周向导波模式叠加而成. 从动量定理出发, 结合柱坐标系下非线性应力张量及其散度的数学表达式, 针对圆管中某一基频周向导波模式, 推导出相应的二倍频应力张量及二倍频彻体驱动力的数学表达式, 建立了确定二倍频周向导波模式展开系数的控制方程, 得到了伴随基频周向导波传播所发生的二次谐波声场的形式解. 理论分析和数值计算表明, 当构成二次谐波声场的某一二倍频周向导波模式与基频周向导波的相速度匹配时, 该二倍频周向导波模式的位移振幅表现出随传播周向角积累增长的性质; 当两者的相速度失配时, 二倍频周向导波的振幅随传播周向角表现出“拍”效应.  相似文献

利用CST Microwave Studio 计算双排矩形梳状慢波结构的色散并据此确定了0.22 THz左右频段(D波段)行波管用慢波结构的尺寸参数。将相速再同步技术应用于基于双排矩形梳状慢波结构的D波段行波管中,用CST PIC模拟计算了4例具有不同周期构型的D波段行波管。结果证实:对于无集中衰减器的D波段行波管,在218~232 GHz范围内,相速再同步技术使得输出功率从10~13 W提高到19~28 W,电子效率从1.4%~2.2%提高到2.6%~3.9%;对于具有集中衰减器D波段行波管,在218~232 GHz范围内,相速再同步技术使得输出功率从8~16.8 W提高到32~41 W,电子效率从1.5%~2.8%提高到4.4%~5.7%。此外,无论行波管有无集中衰减器,相速再同步技术都明显改善了行波管的增益平坦度。  相似文献

This Letter discusses the influence of heat transfer and magnetic field on the peristaltic flow of Newtonian fluid in a vertical annulus under a zero Reynolds number and long wavelength approximation.
