We have observed Feshbach resonances in collisions between ultracold 52Cr atoms. This is the first observation of collisional Feshbach resonances in an atomic species with more than one valence electron. The zero nuclear spin of 52Cr and thus the absence of a Fermi-contact interaction leads to regularly spaced resonance sequences. By comparing resonance positions with multichannel scattering calculations we determine the s-wave scattering length of the lowest (2S+1)Sigma(+)(g) potentials to be 112(14) a(0), 58(6) a(0), and -7(20) a(0) for S=6, 4, and 2, respectively, where a(0)=0.0529 nm.  相似文献

In photoassociation spectroscopy, the line intensities of a given vibrational progression exhibit zero-signal modulation reflecting the node structure of the s-wave ground state wave function of two free colliding atoms. This leads to the determination of the scattering length. We performed photoassociation of cold Cs atoms polarized in the Zeeman sublevel f = 4, m(f) = 4. We analyzed the intensities of the lines associated with the Cs2 0(-)(g) state dissociating to the 6s(1/2)+6p(3/2) asymptote. This yields a value of the Cs triplet state scattering length, a(T) = -530a(0), while consistency requirements impose a value of the multipole ground state molecular coefficient, C6 = 6510 a.u.  相似文献

We report the creation of the first mixture of ~6 Li and ~(88) Sr atoms in an optical dipole trap. Using this mixture,a measurement of the interspecies thermalization process is carried out and the previously unknown interspecies s-wave scattering length between ~6 Li and ~(88) Sr atoms is extracted to be |~(a6) Li-~(88) Sr| =(380_(-100)~(+160))a_0 with a_0 being the Bohr radius from the rate of interspecies thermalization.  相似文献

The continuum part of the6Li (a,a)6Li (1.47–2.47 MeV) scattering data at Ea=50 MeV are extracted in two discretized bins. Coupled-channel calculations are carried out coupling the 1+ ground state of6Li with both the resonant, 3+ 1 state, and two non-resonant continuum states. The discretized continuum of the6Li (p,p)6Li (1.75–3.25 MeV) scattering data at Ep=65 MeV are also analysed on the same footing. In both the cases the effect of coupling is found to be minimal.  相似文献

We report on the realization of a stable mixture of ultracold lithium and ytterbium atoms confined in a far-off-resonance optical dipole trap. We observe sympathetic cooling of 6Li by 174Yb and extract the s-wave scattering length magnitude |a(6Li-174Yb)|=(13±3)a0 from the rate of interspecies thermalization. Using forced evaporative cooling of 174Yb, we achieve reduction of the 6Li temperature to below the Fermi temperature, purely through interspecies sympathetic cooling.  相似文献

Coherent neutron scattering lengths and free cross sections were measured in order to determine the spin dependent scattering lengths of the isotopes of Li and B. The transmission measurements on Li at neutron energies of 0.51 meV, 1.26 eV and 5.19 eV delivered data for the6Li-abundances in the samples and for the free scattering cross section of7Li. By means of experiments on 15 different samples of lithium compounds we obtained the complex spin state scattering lengths for the bound atoms to be: (ie81-01) Measurements on 3 boron samples with different enrichments led to (ie81-02) A review on slow neutron scattering and resonance data shows an over all consistency of all values.  相似文献

The elastic scattering of aligned 6Li and 7Li on 58Ni at Ecm = 12.7 MeV displays an “isotopic” effect which can be traced to the very different (mass) quadrupole moments of both isotopes. The elastic scattering of aligned 6Li and 7Li on 12,13C at ELi = 9 MeV displays large effects, but the angular dependence is much more complicated compared to the scattering on 58Ni.  相似文献

We study theoretically the ultracold two-component fermionic gases when a gradient magnetic field is used to tune the scattering length between atoms. For 6Li at the narrow resonance B0=543.25 G, it is shown that the gases would be in a coexistence of the regimes of BCS, Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC), and unitarity limit with the present experimental technique. In the case of thermal and chemical equilibrium, we investigate the density distribution of the gases and show that a double peak of the density distribution can give us a clear evidence for the coexistence of BCS, BEC, and unitarity limit.  相似文献

Dipole excitations in highly excited energy regions of (6)He and (7)He nuclei were investigated via the ((7)Li,(7)Be) reaction with an incident energy of 65A MeV at forward scattering angles. The resonances at Q approximately equal to -30 MeV observed commonly for both (6)Li and (7)Li targets were found to be excited via both spin-flip and spin-nonflip transitions with DeltaL = 1. Based on the observed excitation energy, width, and cross section of each resonance, the relevant resonances are inferred to be analogs of the dipole resonances of alpha clusters in the (6)Li and (7)Li nuclei.  相似文献

The elastic and inelastic scattering of protons from 6Li has been studied at incident energies of 25.9, 29.9, 35.0, 40.1 and 45.4 MeV. The 2.18 MeV (3+, T = 0) first excited state of 6Li was found to be strongly excited, but the 3.56 MeV (0+, T = 1) second excited state was quite weakly excited. Angular distributions for excitation of the 2.18 MeV level were measured at all five energies, while angular distributions for excitation of the 3.56 MeV level were extracted only at 25.9 and 45.4 MeV. To test the applicability of the optical model for the scattering of protons from such a light nucleus the elastic scattering angular distributions have been analyzed using the eleven-parameter search code SEEK. Available polarization angular distributions were included in the analysis. Reasonable fits to the data have been obtained with an average geometry potential. Theoretical estimates of the real part of the optical potential and the inelastic scattering differential cross sections have been made using the microscopic model for proton-nucleus scattering. Both phenomenological and realistic forces have been considered and the necessary nuclear transition densities have been extracted from experimental elastic and inelastic electron scattering data. An estimate of a possible spin-spin term in the optical potential has also been made.  相似文献

We present calculated scattering lengths for collisions between various isotopic forms of lithium and hydrogen atoms interacting via singlet and triplet molecular states of LiH. We demonstrate that one bound triplet level is supported for each isotopomer 7LiH, 6LiH, 7LiD, and 6LiD. We obtain large calculated triplet scattering lengths that are stable against uncertainties in the potential. We present elastic and momentum transfer cross sections, and the corresponding rate coefficients, for hydrogen atoms colliding with 7Li atoms. We suggest that enhanced cooling of trapped atomic hydrogen by 7Li atoms is feasible.  相似文献

We report on the observation of Feshbach resonances in an ultracold mixture of two fermionic species, (6)Li and (40)K. The experimental data are interpreted using a simple asymptotic bound state model and full coupled channels calculations. This unambiguously assigns the observed resonances in terms of various s- and p-wave molecular states and fully characterizes the ground-state scattering properties in any combination of spin states.  相似文献

The acoustic branch of two network glasses, (Li2O)xB2O3 ( x = 0.25 and 0.5), is followed over a large momentum transfer range 1-12 nm(-1), using inelastic x-ray scattering. We observe the transition from propagating modes to a region of strong scattering as the Ioffe-Regel limit is reached. A region of Rayleigh scattering of the acoustic modes precedes the strong scattering regime at larger Q, causing a rapid decrease of the mean-free path of the modes.  相似文献

Simultaneous fits have been made to 44 6Li data sets covering the mass range 24–208 and the energy range 13–156 MeV in order to determine an average (“global”) optical-model potential for 6Li scattering. A similar study has been made for 25 7Li data sets over the same mass range and an energy range of 28–88 MeV to find an average 7Li potential. With Saxon-Woods form factors, constant values may be used for all parameters except for the depth of the imaginary potential which decreases in magnitude with increasing mass. The necessity of energy dependence. Coulomb correction and (for 7Li) a symmetry term is investigated. The variation of the integral properties of the potentials is discussed, and also a comparison is made for the two projectiles. Application of the global potentials is made to inelastic scattering and single-nucleon transfer reactions.  相似文献

The upper critical field H(c2) of purple bronze Li0:9Mo6O17 is found to exhibit a large anisotropy, in quantitative agreement with that expected from the observed electrical resistivity anisotropy. With the field aligned along the most conducting axis, H(c2) increases monotonically with decreasing temperature to a value 5 times larger than the estimated paramagnetic pair-breaking field. Theories for the enhancement of H(c2) invoking spin-orbit scattering or strong-coupling superconductivity are shown to be inadequate in explaining the observed behavior, suggesting that the pairing state in Li0:9Mo6O17 is unconventional and possibly spin triplet.  相似文献

The scattering of identical nuclei at low energies exhibits conspicuous Mott oscillations which can be used to investigate the presence of components in the predominantly Coulomb interaction arising from several physical effects. It is found that at a certain critical value of the Sommerfeld parameter the Mott oscillations disappear and the cross section becomes quite flat. We call this effect Transverse Isotropy (TI). The critical value of the Sommerfeld parameter at which TI sets in is found to be \({\eta_{c} = \sqrt{3s + 2}}\), where s is the spin of the nuclei participating in the scattering. No TI is found in the Mott scattering of identical Fermionic nuclei. The critical center of mass energy corresponding to \({\eta_c}\) is found to be \({E_c = 0.40}\) MeV for \({\alpha + \alpha}\) (s = 0), 1.2 MeV for \({^{6}}\)Li + \({^{6}}\)LI (s = 1) and 7.1 MeV for \({^{10}}\)B + \({^{10}}\)B (s = 3). We further found that the inclusion of the nuclear interaction induces a significant modification in the TI. We suggest measurements at these sub-barrier energies for the purpose of extracting useful information about the nuclear interaction between light heavy ions. We also suggest extending the study of the TI to the scattering of identical atomic ions.  相似文献

The measured 7Li(p,n), and 6Li(n,p) cross sections at 0° show a high-energy peak (≈25 MeV/c FWHM) which we attribute primarily to nuclear charge exchange leading to final states in 7Be, 6Be, and 6He, respectively. By contrast, the 7Li(n,p) cross section at O° shows a broad weak high-energy peak believed due mostly to break-up processes. At 16°, the 6,7Li(n,p) cross sections are dominated by quasi-elastic scattering.  相似文献

Coupled-channels calculations are presented tor elastic and inelastic 6Li + 12C scattering at Ec.m. = 16 MeV and 20 MeV, and for 6Li + 16O at 18.7 MeV. Excitation of states within 6Li, 12C and 16O are treated with rotational, rotation-vibration and vibrational models only. The 3+6Li and 2+12C states are strongly coupled to the elastic scattering and reduce the strengths of both the real and imaginary potentials. The 3?16O state reduces only the strength of the imaginary potential. All other states are weakly coupled and have little effect on each other or the potential. The data are reasonably well described, with there being some preference for the 3? state in 12C to be K = 0. Excitation of the 02+ state in 12C requires a combination of β-vibration and monopole breathing-mode form factors. The deformation lengths found are in poor agreement with those deduced from electron or proton scattering.  相似文献

Detailed angular distributions for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 7Li at E = 36, 42, and 48 MeV and of 6Li at E = 38, 44, and 50 MeV by 54Fe have been measured. It is not possible to describe both sets of data with the same set of optical-model parameters. The ratio of UW is 0.8 for 7Li and 1.4 for 6Li at the strong absorption radius, implying stronger absorption for 7Li than for 6Li. No energy dependence in the optical-model parameters was necessary for either 6Li or 7Li. The inelastic scattering from the 54Fe 2+, 1.41 MeV state was well described by the DWBA and the extracted deformation length (βR = 0.62) was the same for both 6Li and 7Li scattering. It was not possible to describe the 7Li projectile excitation data with collective-model DWBA calculations showing that more detailed calculations for the projectile excitation are necessary.  相似文献
