Following our previous paper [LZ] which deals with the groupU(n, n), we study the structure of certain Howe quotients Ω p,q and Ω p,q (1) which are natural Sp(2n,R) modules arising from the Oscillator representation associated with the dual pair (O(p, q), Sp(2n,R)), by embedding them into the degenerate principal series representations of Sp(2n,R) studied in [L2].  相似文献

We present a special similarity ofR 4n which maps lattice points into lattice points. Applying this similarity, we prove that if a (4n−1)-polytope is similar to a lattice polytope (a polytope whose vertices are all lattice points) inR 4n , then it is similar to a lattice polytope inR 4n−1, generalizing a result of Schoenberg [4]. We also prove that ann-polytope is similar to a lattice polytope in someR N if and only if it is similar to a lattice polytope inR 2n+1, and if and only if sin2(<ABC) is rational for any three verticesA, B, C of the polytope.  相似文献

We give two applications of our earlier work [4]. We compute the p-adic cohomology of certain exponential sums on A n involving a polynomial whose homogeneous component of highest degree defines a projective hypersurface with at worst weighted homogeneous isolated singularities. This study was motivated by recent work of García [9]. We also compute the p-adic cohomology of certain exponential sums on A n whose degree is divisible by the characteristic. The paper continues the work of Royster (Duke Math J 19:447–457, 1952), Mocanu [Mathematica (Cluj) 22(1):77–83, 1980; Mathematica (Cluj) 29:49–55, 1987], Cristea [Mathematica (Cluj) 36(2):137–144, 1994; Complex Var 42:333–345, 2000; Mathematica (Cluj) 43(1):23–34, 2001; Mathematica (Cluj), 2010, to appear; Teoria Topologica a Functiilor Analitice, Editura Universitatii Bucuresti, Romania, 1999] of extending univalence criteria for complex mappings to C 1 mappings. We improve now the method of Loewner chains which is usually used in complex univalence theory for proving univalence criteria or for proving quasiconformal extensions of holomorphic mappings f : BC n to C n . The results are surprisingly strong. We show that the usual results from the theory, like Becker’s univalence criteria remain true for C 1 mappings and since we use a stronger form of Loewner’s theory, we obtain results which are stronger even for holomorphic mappings f : BC n . In our main result (Theorem 4.1) we end the researches dedicated to quasiconformal extensions of K-quasiregular and holomorphic mappings f : BC n to C n . We show that a C 1 quasiconformal map f : BC n can be extended to a quasiconformal map F : C n C n , without any metric condition imposed to the map f.  相似文献

In this paper I prove the following result: for every integerl, for every non-negative integers, ifZ s is the union ofs points in sufficiently general position inP n , then the restriction mapH 0(P n ,T P n (l)) →H 0(Z s,T P n (l)|z s ) has maximal rank. This result implies that the last non-trivial term of the minimal free resolution of the homogeneous ideal ofZ s is the conjectured one by the Minimal Resolution Conjecture of Anna Lorenzini (cf. For a simplicial subdivison Δ of a region in k n (k algebraically closed) and rN, there is a reflexive sheaf ? on P n , such that H 0(?(d)) is essentially the space of piecewise polynomial functions on Δ, of degree at most d, which meet with order of smoothness r along common faces. In [9], Elencwajg and Forster give bounds for the vanishing of the higher cohomology of a bundle ℰ on P n in terms of the top two Chern classes and the generic splitting type of ℰ. We use a spectral sequence argument similar to that of [16] to characterize those Δ for which ? is actually a bundle (which is always the case for n= 2). In this situation we can obtain a formula for H 0(?(d)) which involves only local data; the results of [9] cited earlier allow us to give a bound on the d where the formula applies. We also show that a major open problem in approximation theory may be formulated in terms of a cohomology vanishing on P 2 and we discuss a possible connection between semi-stability and the conjectured answer to this open problem. Letn≧2 be an integer. We prove the following results that are known in casen=2: The upper and the lower central series of an existentially closed nilpotent group of classn coincide. A finitely generic nilpotent group of classn is periodic and the center of a finitely generic torsion-free nilpotent group of classn is isomorphic toQ +, whereas infinitely generic nilpotent groups do not enjoy these properties. We determine the structure of the torsion subgroup of existentially closed nilpotent groups of class 2. Finally we give an algebraic proof that there exist 2κ non-isomorphic existentially closed nilpotent groups of classn in cardinalityKN 0. Some results of this paper were contained in [6].  相似文献

Appl. 343 (2008), 99–109], we showed the existence of “parabolic curves” for certain quasi-parabolic analytic transformations of C n . If F B(2 n – 1) denotes the Boolean algebra with 2 n – 1 free generators and P(2 n ) is the Cartesian product of 2 n Boolean algebras all equal to F B(2 n – 1), we define on P(2 n ) an existential quantifier by means of a relatively complete Boolean subalgebra of P(2 n ) and we prove that (P(2n),) is the monadic Boolean algebra with n free generators. Every element of P(2 n ) is a 2 n -tuple whose coordinates are in F B(2 n – 1); in particular, so are the n generators of P(2 n ). In this paper we prove that when the Ricci curvature of a Riemannian manifoldM n is almost nonnegative, and a ballB L (p)M n is close in Gromov-Hausdorff distance to a Euclidean ball, then the gradient of the harmonic functionb defined in [ChCo1] does not vanish. In particular, these functions can serve as harmonic coordinates on balls sufficiently close to an Euclidean ball. Let n > 1 and let C n denote the complex n-dimensional Euclidean space. We prove several jet-interpolation results for nowhere degenerate entire mappings F:C nC n and for holomorphic automorphisms of C n on discrete subsets of C n.We also prove an interpolation theorem for proper holomorphic embeddings of Stein manifolds into C n.For each closed complex submanifold (or subvariety) M ⊂ C n of complex dimension m < n we construct a domain ΩC n containing M and a biholomorphic map F: Ω → C n onto C n with J F ≡ 1such that F(M) intersects the image of any nondegenerate entire map G:C n−mC n at infinitely many points. If m = n − 1, we construct F as above such that C nF(M) is hyperbolic. In particular, for each m ≥ 1we construct proper holomorphic embeddings F:C mC m−1 such that the complement C m+1F(C m )is hyperbolic.  相似文献

In the graph partitioning problem, as in other NP-hard problems, the problem of proving the existence of a cut of given size is easy and can be accomplished by exhibiting a solution with the correct value. On the other hand proving the non-existence of a cut better than a given value is very difficult. We consider the problem of maximizing a quadratic function x T Q x where Q is an n × n real symmetric matrix with x an n-dimensional vector constrained to be an element of {–1, 1} n . We had proposed a technique for obtaining upper bounds on solutions to the problem using a continuous approach in [4]. In this paper, we extend this method by using techniques of differential geometry.  相似文献

We build representations of the affine and double affine braid groups and Hecke algebras of type Cú Cn{C^\vee C_n} based upon the theory of quantum symmetric pairs (U, B). In the case U=Uq(\mathfrakglN){{\bf U}=\mathcal{U}_{\rm q}(\mathfrak{gl}_N)}, our constructions provide a quantization of the representations constructed by Etingof, Freund, and Ma in [15], and also a type Cú Cn{C^\vee C_n} generalization of the results in [19].  相似文献

The twisted cube TQn is a variant of the hypercube Qn. It has been shown by Chang, Wang and Hsu [Topological properties of twisted cube. Information Science, 113, 147-167 (1999)] that TQn contains a cycle of every length from 4 to 2^n. In this paper, we improve this result by showing that every edge of TQn lies on a cycle of every length from 4 to 2^n inclusive. We also show that the twisted cube are Hamiltonian connected.  相似文献

According to a theorem of Martio, Rickman and Väisälä, all nonconstant Cn/(n-2)-smooth quasiregular maps in Rn, n≥3, are local homeomorphisms. Bonk and Heinonen proved that the order of smoothness is sharp in R3. We prove that the order of smoothness is sharp in R4. For each n≥5 we construct a C1+ε(n)-smooth quasiregular map in Rn with nonempty branch set.  相似文献
