We consider families of linear, parabolic PDEs in n dimensions which possess Lie symmetry groups of dimension at least four. We identify the Lie symmetry groups of these equations with the (2n+1)-dimensional Heisenberg group and SL(2,R). We then show that for PDEs of this type, the Lie symmetries may be regarded as global projective representations of the symmetry group. We construct explicit intertwining operators between the symmetries and certain classical projective representations of the symmetry groups. Banach algebras of symmetries are introduced.  相似文献

The modern quantum theory is based on the assumption that quantum states are represented by elements of a complex Hilbert space. It is expected that in future quantum theory the number field will not be postulated but derived from more general principles. We consider the choice of the number field in a quantum theory based on a finite field. We assume that the symmetry algebra is the finite field analog of the de Sitter algebra so(1,4) and consider spinless irreducible representations of this algebra. It is shown that the finite field analog of complex numbers is the minimal extension of the residue field modulo p for which the representations are fully decomposable.  相似文献

Discussed are some geometric aspects of the phase space formalism in quantum mechanics in the sense of Weyl, Wigner, Moyal, and Ville. We analyze the relationship between this formalism and geometry of the Galilei group, classical momentum mapping, theory of unitary projective representations of groups, and theory of groups algebras. Later on, we present some generalization to quantum mechanics on locally compact Abelian groups. It is based on Pontryagin duality. Indicated are certain physical aspects in quantum dynamics of crystal lattices, including the phenomenon of ‘Umklapp–Prozessen’. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

An algebraic quantum group is a regular multiplier Hopf algebra with integrals. In this paper we will develop a theory of algebraic quantum hypergroups. It is very similar to the theory of algebraic quantum groups, except that the comultiplication is no longer assumed to be a homomorphism. We still require the existence of a left and of a right integral. There is also an antipode but it is characterized in terms of these integrals. We construct the dual, just as in the case of algebraic quantum groups and we show that the dual of the dual is the original quantum hypergroup. We define algebraic quantum hypergroups of compact type and discrete type and we show that these types are dual to each other. The algebraic quantum hypergroups of compact type are essentially the algebraic ingredients of the compact quantum hypergroups as introduced and studied (in an operator algebraic context) by Chapovsky and Vainerman. We will give some basic examples in order to illustrate different aspects of the theory. In a separate note, we will consider more special cases and more complicated examples. In particular, in that note, we will give a general construction procedure and show how known examples of these algebraic quantum hypergroups fit into this framework.  相似文献

We introduce a notion of I-factorial quantum torsor, which consists of an integrable ergodic action of a locally compact quantum group on a type I-factor such that also the crossed product is a type I-factor. We show that any such I-factorial quantum torsor is at the same time a I-factorial quantum torsor for the dual locally compact quantum group, in such a way that the construction is involutive. As a motivating example, we show that quantized compact semisimple Lie groups, when amplified via a crossed product construction with the function algebra on the associated weight lattice, admit I-factorial quantum torsors, and give an explicit realization of the dual quantum torsor in terms of a deformed Heisenberg algebra for the Borel part of a quantized universal enveloping algebra.  相似文献

We consider identity excluding groups. We first show that motion groups of totally disconnected nilpotent groups are identity excluding. We prove that certain class of p-adic algebraic groups which includes algebraic groups whose solvable radical is type R have identity excluding property. We also prove the convergence of averages of representations for some solvable groups which are not necessarily identity excluding.  相似文献

We show that for any co-amenable compact quantum group A=C(G) there exists a unique compact Hausdorff topology on the set EA(G) of isomorphism classes of ergodic actions of G such that the following holds: for any continuous field of ergodic actions of G over a locally compact Hausdorff space T the map T→EA(G) sending each t in T to the isomorphism class of the fibre at t is continuous if and only if the function counting the multiplicity of γ in each fibre is continuous over T for every equivalence class γ of irreducible unitary representations of G. Generalizations for arbitrary compact quantum groups are also obtained. In the case G is a compact group, the restriction of this topology on the subset of isomorphism classes of ergodic actions of full multiplicity coincides with the topology coming from the work of Landstad and Wassermann. Podle? spheres are shown to be continuous in the natural parameter as ergodic actions of the quantum SU(2) group. We also introduce a notion of regularity for quantum metrics on G, and show how to construct a quantum metric from any ergodic action of G, starting from a regular quantum metric on G. Furthermore, we introduce a quantum Gromov-Hausdorff distance between ergodic actions of G when G is separable and show that it induces the above topology.  相似文献

A well-known theorem of Day and Dixmier states that any uniformly bounded representation of an amenable locally compact group G on a Hilbert space is similar to a unitary representation. Within the category of locally compact quantum groups, the conjectural analogue of the Day–Dixmier theorem is that every completely bounded Hilbert space representation of the convolution algebra of an amenable locally compact quantum group should be similar to a ?-representation. We prove that this conjecture is false for a large class of non-Kac type compact quantum groups, including all q-deformations of compact simply connected semisimple Lie groups. On the other hand, within the Kac framework, we prove that the Day–Dixmier theorem does indeed hold for several new classes of examples, including amenable discrete quantum groups of Kac-type.  相似文献

We consider a category of continuous Hilbert space representations and a category of smooth Fr’echet representations,of a real Jacobi group G.By Mackey’s theory, they are respectively equivalent to certain categories of representations of a real reductive group L.Within these categories,we show that the two functors that take smooth vectors for G and for L are consistent with each other.By using Casselman-Wallach’s theory of smooth representations of real reductive groups,we define matrix coefficients for distributional vectors of certain representations of G.We also formulate Gelfand-Kazhdan criteria for real Jacobi groups which could be used to prove multiplicity one theorems for Fourier-Jacobi models.  相似文献

We establish an isomorphism between the vertex and spinor representations of affine Lie algebras for types Dl(1)and Dl + 1(2). We also study decomposition of spinor representations using the infinite family of Casimir operators and prove that they are either irreducible or have two irreducible components. We show that the vertex and spinor constructions of the representations can be reformulated in the language of two-dimensional quantum field theory. In this physical context, the two constructions yield the generalized sine-Gordon and Thirring models, respectively, already in renormalized form. The isomorphism of representations implies an equivalence of these two models which is known in quantum field theory as the boson-fermion correspondence  相似文献

Let X be a locally compact, second countable Hausdorff topological space. We consider a family of commuting Hermitian operators a(Δ) indexed by all measurable, relatively compact sets Δ in X (a quantum stochastic process over X). For such a family, we introduce the notion of a correlation measure. We prove that, if the family of operators possesses a correlation measure which satisfies some condition of growth, then there exists a point process over X having the same correlation measure. Furthermore, the operators a(Δ) can be realized as multiplication operators in the L2-space with respect to this point process. In the proof, we utilize the notion of ?-positive definiteness, proposed in [Y.G. Kondratiev, T. Kuna, Harmonic analysis on the configuration space I. General theory, Infin. Dimens. Anal. Quantum Probab. Relat. Top. 5 (2002) 201-233]. In particular, our result extends the criterion of existence of a point process from that paper to the case of the topological space X, which is a standard underlying space in the theory of point processes. As applications, we discuss particle densities of the quasi-free representations of the CAR and CCR, which lead to fermion, boson, fermion-like, and boson-like (e.g. para-fermions and para-bosons of order 2) point processes. In particular, we prove that any fermion point process corresponding to a Hermitian kernel may be derived in this way.  相似文献

We give a group theory interpretation of the three types of q-Bessel functions. We consider a family of quantum Lorentz groups and a family of quantum Lobachevsky spaces. For three values of the parameter of the quantum Lobachevsky space, the Casimir operators correspond to the two-body relativistic open Toda-chain Hamiltonians whose eigenfunctions are the modified q-Bessel functions of the three types. We construct the principal series of unitary irreducible representations of the quantum Lorentz groups. Special matrix elements in the irreducible spaces given by the q-Macdonald functions are the wave functions of the two-body relativistic open Toda chain. We obtain integral representations for these functions.  相似文献

We consider projective representations of the loop group of U(N) suggested by statistical mechanics. These representations are defined by certain positive definite functions (called temperature states) on the universal central extension of the loop group. We find that the Boson-Fermion correspondence, known to exist in a mathematically precise form at zero temperature, persists at non-zero temperature. By expressing the temperature state for U(1) in two different ways we obtain identities between elliptic functions. We apply these ideas to a simple model in statistical physics (the Luttinger model) establishing the existence of a projective representation of the loop group of U(1) × U(1) in the presence of interaction and at all temperatures. A rigorous derivation of the correlation functions for this model is given using the Boson-Fermion correspondence.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the *-representations of compact quantum groups and group duality. The main results in the paper are: (1) there is a one-to-one correspondence between the *-representations of compact quantum groups and *-representations of the dual Banach *-algebra; (2) the category of commutative compact quantum groups (semigroups) is a dual category to the category of compact groups (semigroups); (3) the dual category of the category of locally compact groups (semigroups) is the category of commutative Hopf C*-algebras with a particular property. Our group duality has the flavor of a Gelfand-Naimark type theorem for compact quantum groups, and for Hopf C*-algebras.  相似文献

Convolution semigroups of states on a quantum group form the natural noncommutative analogue of convolution semigroups of probability measures on a locally compact group. Here we initiate a theory of weakly continuous convolution semigroups of functionals on a C*-bialgebra, the noncommutative counterpart of a locally compact semigroup. On locally compact quantum groups we obtain a bijective correspondence between such convolution semigroups and a class of C 0-semigroups of maps which we characterise. On C*-bialgebras of discrete type we show that all weakly continuous convolution semigroups of states are automatically norm-continuous. As an application we deduce a known characterisation of continuous conditionally positive-definite Hermitian functions on a compact group.  相似文献

We give a topological interpretation of the highest weight representations of Kac-Moody groups. Given the unitary form G of a Kac-Moody group (over C), we define a version of equivariant K-theory, KG on the category of proper G-CW complexes. We then study Kac-Moody groups of compact type in detail (see Section 2 for definitions). In particular, we show that the Grothendieck group of integrable highest weight representations of a Kac-Moody group G of compact type, maps isomorphically onto , where EG is the classifying space of proper G-actions. For the affine case, this agrees very well with recent results of Freed-Hopkins-Teleman. We also explicitly compute for Kac-Moody groups of extended compact type, which includes the Kac-Moody group E10.  相似文献

We characterise the virtually abelian groups which are fundamental groups of compact Kähler manifolds and of smooth projective varieties. We show that a virtually abelian group is Kähler if and only if it is projective. In particular, this allows to describe the Kähler condition for such groups in terms of integral symplectic representations.  相似文献

We show that the square-integrable factor representations of a connected locally compact group G are precisely the normal representations whose kernels in C1(G) are open points of Primr(G) (the support of Plancherel measure). Related results hold for certain other groups. We also settle questions of Dixmier, and Duflo and Moore, by giving examples of square-integrable irreducible representations (of totally disconnected groups) which are not open in the reduced dual.  相似文献
