In the paper, we obtain the existence of symmetric or monotone positive solutions and establish a corresponding iterative scheme for the equation (ϕ p (u′))′+q(t)f(u) = 0, 0 < t < 1, where ϕ p (s):= |s| p−2 s, p > 1, subject to nonlinear boundary condition. The main tool is the monotone iterative technique. Here, the coefficient q(t) may be singular at t = 0; 1.  相似文献

For p∈{3,4} and all p′>p, with p′ coprime to p, we obtain fermionic expressions for the combination χ 1,s p,p+q Δ χ p−1,s p,p of Virasoro (W 2) characters for various values of s, and particular choices of Δ. Equating these expressions with known product expressions, we obtain q-series identities which are akin to the Andrews–Gordon identities. For p=3, these identities were conjectured by Bytsko. For p=4, we obtain identities whose form is a variation on that of the p=3 cases. These identities appear to be new. The case (p,p′)=(3,14) is particularly interesting because it relates not only to W 2, but also to W 3 characters, and offers W 3 analogues of the original Andrews–Gordon identities. Our fermionic expressions for these characters differ from those of Andrews et al. which involve Gaussian polynomials. We consider semi-stable, radially symmetric, and decreasing solutions of  − Δ p u = g(u) in the unit ball of , where p > 1, Δ p is the p-Laplace operator, and g is a locally Lipschitz function. For this class of radial solutions, which includes local minimizers, we establish pointwise, L q , and W 1,q estimates which are optimal and do not depend on the specific nonlinearity g. Among other results, we prove that every radially decreasing and semi-stable solution u belonging to W 1,p (B 1) is bounded whenever n < p + 4p/(p − 1). Under standard assumptions on the nonlinearity g(u) = λf (u), where λ > 0 is a parameter, it is proved that the corresponding extremal solution u * is semi-stable, and hence, it enjoys the regularity stated in our main result.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the boundary blow-up problem Δpua(x)uq in a smooth bounded domain Ω of , with u = +∞ on ∂Ω. Here is the well-known p-Laplacian operator with p > 1, qp − 1, and a(x) is a nonnegative weight function which can be singular on ∂Ω. Our results include existence, uniqueness and exact boundary behavior of positive solutions.   相似文献

We consider the existence and uniqueness of singular solutions for equations of the formu 1=div(|Du|p−2 Du)-φu), with initial datau(x, 0)=0 forx⇑0. The function ϕ is a nondecreasing real function such that ϕ(0)=0 andp>2. Under a growth condition on ϕ(u) asu→∞, (H1), we prove that for everyc>0 there exists a singular solution such thatu(x, t)→cδ(x) ast→0. This solution is unique and is called a fundamental solution. Under additional conditions, (H2) and (H3), we show the existence of very singular solutions, i.e. singular solutions such that ∫|x|≤r u(x,t)dx→∞ ast→0. Finally, for functions ϕ which behave like a power for largeu we prove that the very singular solution is unique. This is our main result. In the case ϕ(u)=u q, 1≤q, there are fundamental solutions forq<p*=p-1+(p/N) and very singular solutions forp-1<q<p*. These ranges are optimal. Dedicated to Professor Shmuel Agmon  相似文献

It is proved that, if G is a finite group that has the same set of element orders as the simple group D p (q), where p is prime, p ≥ 5 and q ∈ {2, 3, 5}, then the commutator group of G/F(G) is isomorphic to D p (q), the subgroup F(G) is equal to 1 for q = 5 and to O q (G) for q ∈ {2, 3}, F(G) ≤ G′, and |G/G′| ≤ 2.  相似文献

We investigate the behaviour of solution uu(x, t; λ) at λ =  λ* for the non-local porous medium equation ${u_t = (u^n)_{xx} + {\lambda}f(u)/({\int_{-1}^1} f(u){\rm d}x)^2}We investigate the behaviour of solution uu(x, t; λ) at λ =  λ* for the non-local porous medium equation ut = (un)xx + lf(u)/(ò-11 f(u)dx)2{u_t = (u^n)_{xx} + {\lambda}f(u)/({\int_{-1}^1} f(u){\rm d}x)^2} with Dirichlet boundary conditions and positive initial data. The function f satisfies: f(s),−f ′ (s) > 0 for s ≥ 0 and s n-1 f(s) is integrable at infinity. Due to the conditions on f, there exists a critical value of parameter λ, say λ*, such that for λ > λ* the solution u = u(x, t; λ) blows up globally in finite time, while for λ ≥ λ* the corresponding steady-state problem does not have any solution. For 0 < λ < λ* there exists a unique steady-state solution w = w(x; λ) while u = u(x, t; λ) is global in time and converges to w as t → ∞. Here we show the global grow-up of critical solution u* =  u(x, t; λ*) (u* (x, t) → ∞, as t → ∞ for all x ? (-1,1){x\in(-1,1)}.  相似文献

Consider the equation −Δu = 0 in a bounded smooth domain , complemented by the nonlinear Neumann boundary condition ∂ν u = f(x, u) − u on ∂Ω. We show that any very weak solution of this problem belongs to L (Ω) provided f satisfies the growth condition |f(x, s)| ≤ C(1 + |s| p ) for some p ∈ (1, p*), where . If, in addition, f(x, s) ≥ −C + λs for some λ > 1, then all positive very weak solutions are uniformly a priori bounded. We also show by means of examples that p* is a sharp critical exponent. In particular, using variational methods we prove the following multiplicity result: if N ∈ {3, 4} and f(x, s) =  s p then there exists a domain Ω and such that our problem possesses at least two positive, unbounded, very weak solutions blowing up at a prescribed point of ∂Ω provided . Our regularity results and a priori bounds for positive very weak solutions remain true if the right-hand side in the differential equation is of the form h(x, u) with h satisfying suitable growth conditions.  相似文献

Let {M r,s (p,p′)}1≤rp−1,1≤sp′−1 be the irreducible Virasoro modules in the (p,p′)-minimal series. In our previous paper, we have constructed a monomial basis of r=1 p−1 M r,s (p,p′) in the case 1<p′/p<2. By ‘monomials’ we mean vectors of the form , where φ n (r′,r):M r,s (p,p′)M r′,s (p,p′) are the Fourier components of the (2,1)-primary field and |r 0,s〉 is the highest weight vector of . In this article, we introduce for all p<p′ with p≥3 and s=1 a subset of such monomials as a conjectural basis of r=1 p−1 M r,1(p,p′). We prove that the character of the combinatorial set labeling these monomials coincides with the character of the corresponding Virasoro module. We also verify the conjecture in the case p=3.   相似文献

Letf be a non-decreasing C1-function such that andF(t)/f 2 a(t)→ 0 ast → ∞, whereF(t)=∫ 0 t f(s) ds anda ∈ (0, 2]. We prove the existence of positive large solutions to the equationΔu +q(x)|Δu| a =p(x)f(u) in a smooth bounded domain Ω ⊂RN, provided thatp, q are non-negative continuous functions so that any zero ofp is surrounded by a surface strictly included in Ω on whichp is positive. Under additional hypotheses onp we deduce the existence of solutions if Ω is unbounded.  相似文献

We prove the following version of Poincaré duality for reduced L q,p -cohomology: For any 1 < q, p < ∞, the L q,p -cohomology of a Riemannian manifold is in duality with the interior L p',q'-cohomology for 1/p + 1/p′ = 1/q + 1/q′ = 1.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the initial-boundary value problem of porous medium equation ρ(x)u t  = Δu m  + V(x)h(t)u p in a cone D = (0, ∞) × Ω, where V(x)  ~  |x|s, h(t)  ~  ts{V(x)\,{\sim}\, |x|^\sigma, h(t)\,{\sim}\, t^s}. Let ω 1 denote the smallest Dirichlet eigenvalue for the Laplace-Beltrami operator on Ω and let l denote the positive root of l 2 + (n − 2)l = ω 1. We prove that if m < p £ 1+(m-1)(1+s)+\frac2(s+1)+sn+l{m < p \leq 1+(m-1)(1+s)+\frac{2(s+1)+\sigma}{n+l}}, then the problem has no global nonnegative solutions for any nonnegative u 0 unless u 0 = 0; if ${p >1 +(m-1)(1+s)+\frac{2(s+1)+\sigma}{n+l}}${p >1 +(m-1)(1+s)+\frac{2(s+1)+\sigma}{n+l}}, then the problem has global solutions for some u 0 ≥ 0.  相似文献

We show that for every initial dataa εL 2(Ω) there exists a weak solutionu of the Navier-Stokes equations satisfying the generalized energy inequality introduced by Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg forn=3. We also show that if a weak solutionu εL s (0,T;L q (Ω)) with 2/q + 2/s ≤ 1 and 3/q + 1/s ≤ 1 forn=3, or 2/q + 2/s ≤ 1 andq ≥ 4 forn ≥ 4, thenu satisfies both the generalized and the usual energy equalities. Moreover we show that the generalized energy equality holds only under the local hypothesis thatu εL s (ε, T; L q (K)) for all compact setsK ⊂ ⊂ Ω and all 0 <ε <T with the same (q, s) as above when 3 ≤n ≤ 10.  相似文献

Let G be an adjoint simple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p; let Φ be the root system of G, and take t∈ℕ. Lawther has proven that the dimension of the set G [t]={gG:g t =1} depends only on Φ and t. In particular the value is independent of the characteristic p; this was observed for t small and prime by Liebeck. Since G [t] is clearly a disjoint union of conjugacy classes the question arises as to whether a similar result holds if we replace G [t] by one of those classes. This paper provides a partial answer to that question. A special case of what we have proven is the following. Take p,q to be distinct primes and G p and G q to be adjoint simple algebraic groups with the same root system and over algebraically closed fields of characteristic p and q respectively. If sG p has order q then there exists an element uG q such that o(u)=o(s) and dimuGq=dimsGp\dim u^{G_{q}}=\dim s^{G_{p}} .  相似文献

This paper considers the existence and large time behavior of solutions to the convection-diffusion equation u t −Δu+b(x)·∇(u|u| q −1)=f(x, t) in ℝ n ×[0,∞), where f(x, t) is slowly decaying and q≥1+1/n (or in some particular cases q≥1). The initial condition u 0 is supposed to be in an appropriate L p space. Uniform and nonuniform decay of the solutions will be established depending on the data and the forcing term. This work is partially supported by an AMO Grant  相似文献

An Application of a Mountain Pass Theorem   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We are concerned with the following Dirichlet problem: −Δu(x) = f(x, u), x∈Ω, uH 1 0(Ω), (P) where f(x, t) ∈C (×ℝ), f(x, t)/t is nondecreasing in t∈ℝ and tends to an L -function q(x) uniformly in x∈Ω as t→ + ∞ (i.e., f(x, t) is asymptotically linear in t at infinity). In this case, an Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz-type condition, that is, for some θ > 2, M > 0, 0 > θF(x, s) ≤f(x, s)s, for all |s|≥M and x∈Ω, (AR) is no longer true, where F(x, s) = ∫ s 0 f(x, t)dt. As is well known, (AR) is an important technical condition in applying Mountain Pass Theorem. In this paper, without assuming (AR) we prove, by using a variant version of Mountain Pass Theorem, that problem (P) has a positive solution under suitable conditions on f(x, t) and q(x). Our methods also work for the case where f(x, t) is superlinear in t at infinity, i.e., q(x) ≡ +∞. Received June 24, 1998, Accepted January 14, 2000.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new method to compute the numerical flux of a finite volume scheme, used for the approximation of the solution of the nonlinear partial differential equation ut+div(qf(u))−ΔΦ(u)=0 in a 1D, 2D or 3D domain. The function Φ is supposed to be strictly increasing, but some values s such that Φ′(s)=0 can exist. The method is based on the solution, at each interface between two control volumes, of the nonlinear elliptic two point boundary value problem (qf(υ)+(Φ(υ))′)′=0 with Dirichlet boundary conditions given by the values of the discrete approximation in both control volumes. We prove the existence of a solution to this two point boundary value problem. We show that the expression for the numerical flux can be yielded without referring to this solution. Furthermore, we prove that the so designed finite volume scheme has the expected stability properties and that its solution converges to the weak solution of the continuous problem. Numerical results show the increase of accuracy due to the use of this scheme, compared to some other schemes.  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear Sturm–Liouville problem

where λ > 0 is an eigenvalue parameter. To understand well the global behavior of the bifurcation branch in R + × L 2(I), we establish the precise asymptotic formula for λ(α), which is associated with eigenfunction u α with ‖ u α2 = α, as α → ∞. It is shown that if for some constant p > 1 the function h(u) ≔ f(u)/u p satisfies adequate assumptions, including a slow growth at ∞, then λ(α) ∼ α p−1 h(α) as α → ∞ and the second term of λ(α) as α → ∞ is determined by lim u → ∞ uh′(u). Let K be a p-adic field, R the valuation ring of K, P the maximal ideal of R and q the cardinality of the residue field R/P. Let f be a polynomial over R in n >1 variables and let χ be a character of . Let M i (u) be the number of solutions of f = u in (R/P i ) n for and. These numbers are related with Igusa’s p-adic zeta function Z f(s) of f. We explain the connection between the M i (u) and the smallest real part of a pole of Z f(s). We also prove that M i (u) is divisible by , where the corners indicate that we have to round up. This will imply our main result: Z f(s) has no poles with real part less than − n/2. We will also consider arbitrary K-analytic functions f.  相似文献
