The cotton fabrics were immersed in 1–5?mM aqueous silver nitrate solutions maintained at 80°C for 24?h to in situ generate silver nanoparticles. The presence of silver nanoparticles in the nanocomposite films was proved by microscopic observation. Fourier transform infrared spectra indicated the role of hydroxyl and carboxyl groups of cotton fabric in reducing the silver salt to nanosilver. The nanocomposite cotton fabrics showed good antibacterial activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The antibacterial cotton fabrics can be considered for medical applications such as surgical aprons, wound cleaning, and dressing.  相似文献

In order to reach an antibacterial, photocatalytic, and hydrophilic coating, commercial grade polyurethane (CPU) resin was modified with silver ion exchanged montmorillonite/TiO2 nanocomposite in various montmorillonite to TiO2 nanoparticle ratios. To characterize the prepared nanocomposites and coatings, X-ray diffraction patterns, FTIR and UV–Vis spectroscopy and SEM images were used. The modified commercial grade polyurethane coatings containing nanocomposites show better properties, including hydrophilicity, degradation of organic pollutants, antibacterial activity and water resistivity, compared to unmodified commercial grade polyurethane coatings. The water droplet contact angle of unmodified CPU coating was 70°, however it decreased to lower than 10° in modified CPU coatings after 24 h LED lamp irradiation. Decolorization efficiency of malachite green dye solution by the use of modified CPU coatings achieved up to 70% after 5 h LED lamp illumination, compared to less than 5% for unmodified CPU coatings. Modified CPU coatings also showed significant water resistivity and antibacterial properties.  相似文献

Cotton fabric was treated by corona plasma discharge at different powers and numbers of passages. The carboxyl group content was determined by Methylene Blue staining and titration. Then, the untreated and treated cotton fabrics were treated with silver nitrate, and laundering test was carried out. The inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) analysis for silver and antibacterial tests were done. The surface bonding and morphology were studied by FTIR/ATR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The plasma corona discharge treatment of cotton fabric increases the content of carboxyl groups. An increase in the power of plasma treatment increases the content of carboxyl groups and adsorption of silver ions. As a result, the antibacterial effect is enhanced and becomes more stable after repeated laundering.  相似文献

A novel and efficient process is reported for fabrication of electroconductive, self-cleaning, antibacterial and antifungal cellulose textiles using a graphene/titanium dioxide nanocomposite. Cotton fabric was loaded with graphene oxide using a simple dipping coating method. The graphene oxide-coated cotton fabrics were then immersed in TiCl3 aqueous solution as both a reducing agent and a precursor to yield a fabric coated with graphene/titanium dioxide nanocomposite. The crystal phase, morphology, microstructure and other physicochemical properties of the as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and UV-Vis reflectance spectroscopy. Electrical resistance, self-cleaning performance, antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity of treated fabrics were also assessed. The electrical conductivity of the graphene/titanium dioxide nanocomposite-coated fabrics was improved significantly by the presence of graphene on the surface of cotton fabrics. The self-cleaning efficiency of the treated fabrics was tested by degradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution under UV and sunlight irradiations. The results indicated that the decomposition rates of methylene blue were improved by the addition of graphene to the TiO2 treatment on fabrics. Moreover, the graphene/titanium dioxide nanocomposite-coated cotton samples had negligible toxicity and possessed excellent antimicrobial activity.  相似文献

A low temperature and cost-effective process for antimicrobial finishing of cotton textiles has been developed by sol–gel method. The antimicrobial treatment was performed by treating cotton textile with silica sols from water glass and then with silver nitrate solution. The antimicrobial activity was determined by using E. coli as a model for Gram-negative bacteria. The results showed that the treated textile has an excellent antimicrobial effect and laundering durability. SEM analysis showed coarse surface morphological change on the water glass treated cotton textile. The residual concentration of silver ion on fabrics was informed by ICP-MS. XPS results indicated that two different states of silver were present on the surface of the antimicrobial textile.  相似文献

In conjunction with an increasing public awareness of infectious diseases, the textile industry and scientists are developing hygienic fabrics by the addition of various antimicrobial and antiviral compounds. In the current study, sodium pentaborate pentahydrate and triclosan are applied to cotton fabrics in order to gain antimicrobial and antiviral properties for the first time. The antimicrobial activity of textiles treated with 3 % sodium pentaborate pentahydrate, 0.03 % triclosan, and 7 % Glucapon has been investigated against a broad range of microorganisms including bacteria, yeast, and fungi. Moreover, modified cotton fabrics were tested against adenovirus type 5 and poliovirus type 1. According to the test results, the modified textile goods attained very good antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Thus, the results of the present study clearly suggest that sodium pentaborate pentahydrate and triclosan solution-treated textiles can be considered in the development of antimicrobial and antiviral textile finishes.  相似文献

An ecological and viable approach for the in situ forming silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on cotton fabrics has been used. Silver nanocoated fabric of brownish yellow color (AgNPs, plasmon color) was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). SEM images revealed that the surface of the modified cotton was rougher than that of normal cotton. In addition, SEM images showed the presence of AgNPs on the surface of the treated fabric. Silver mapping and elemental analysis of the silver nanocoated cotton fabric using EDS confirmed the presence of AgNPs in a homogeneous distribution. Also, FTIR spectra of silver nanocoated sample showed more intense and broad peaks with a slight red shift if compared with those of blank sample indicating the binding of AgNPs with cellulose macromolecules. Different coating levels and the impact of repeated washings have been evaluated against different microbial strains by growth inhibition zone. The results of antimicrobial studies reveal that the presence of a low coating level of nanosilver is enough for producing an excellent and durable antimicrobial cotton fabrics.  相似文献

There is currently much interest in natural phenolic compounds as bioactive components of food. The roles of many fruits and vegetables in disease prevention have been attributed, in part, to the antibacterial and antioxidant properties of their constituent polyphenols. In this study, cotton fabrics were treated by phenolic compounds, pyrogallol, phloroglucinol, pyrocatechol, and resorcinol, to assess their antibacterial and antioxidant capabilities on clothing material. The treatment was conducted via a pad-dry-cure process and 1,2,3,4,-butanetetra carboxylic acid was used as a crosslinker in the finishing process to improve the treatment efficiency. After the finishing step, the phenolic compound treated cotton fabrics were investigated by FT-IR, color spectrophotometry, an antibacterial test, and an antioxidant test. Through the investigation, it was discovered pyrogallol is the most effective phenolic compound for cotton treatment, and the treated cotton fabric shows >99.9 % antibacterial ability and >90 % antioxidant ability.  相似文献

The silica–silver core–shell particles were synthesized by simple one pot chemical method and were employed on the cotton fabric as an antibacterial agent. Extremely small (1–2 nm) silver nanoparticles were attached on silica core particles of average 270 nm size. The optimum density of the nano silver particles was found which was sufficient to show good antibacterial activity as well as the suppression in their surface plasmon resonance responsible for the colour of the core–shell particle for antibacterial textile application. The change in the density and size of the particles in the shell were monitored and confirmed by direct evidence of their transmission electron micrographs and by studying surface plasmon resonance characteristics. The colony counting method of antibacterial activity testing showed excellent results and even the least silver containing core–shell particles showed 100% activity against bacterial concentration of 104 colony counting units (cfu). The bonding between core–shell particles and cotton fabric was examined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The antibacterial activity test confirmed the firm attachment of core–shell particles to the cotton fabric as a result 10 times washed sample was as good antibacterial as that of unwashed sample. The bacterial growth was inhibited on and beneath the coated fabric, at the same time no zone of inhibition which occurs due to the migration of silver ions into the medium was observed indicating immobilization of silver nanoparticles on silica and core–shell particles on fabric by strong bonding.  相似文献

Nanocomposite cotton fabrics with in situ-generated silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared by using Pterocarpus santalinus (Red sanders) extract in water as a reducing agent. The formation of AgNPs was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The SEM analysis of nanocomposites showed the presence of spherical AgNPs with a size range of 71–90?nm. FTIR spectra showed the involvement of hydroxyl and methylene groups of cellulose matrix in reducing the silver salt into AgNPs in the presence of red sanders powder extract as reducing agent for the in situ generation of AgNPs. These nanocomposite fabrics exhibited good antibacterial activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.  相似文献

A green approach for forming silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on ecofriendly highly absorbent nonwoven fabrics was investigated. The fiber blending ratio of highly absorbent nonwoven fabrics was optimized by simulated body fluid (SBF) and water absorption. SBF and water absorption ratios reached 42 and 42.9 times after addition of 50 wt% highly absorbent fibers. The Ag NPs were characterized by UV-visible spectrometry (UV-Vis), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). UV-Vis and XRD images confirmed the presence of Ag NPs. TEM observation revealed that Ag NPs were distributed at 5–10 nm. The results of antimicrobial activity showed that Ag NP dope is effective for producing antimicrobial nonwoven fabrics against E. coli and S. aureus.  相似文献

Surface coating of metal nanoparticles is one of the major aspects to be optimized in the design of antimicrobial nanoparticles. The novelty of this work is that antimicrobial derivatives have been used as stabilizers to protect silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs). Microbicidal activity studies of fabricated cotton textiles coated with these Ag@Antibio were performed. Protective ligand layers of Ag NPs resulted to be a deterministic factor in their antimicrobial activity. The best bactericidal activity was obtained for Fabric TAM (coated with Ag NPs with triarylmethane derivates in surface, Ag@TAMSH), with a bacterial decrease of 3 log units for the S. aureus strain. Intrinsic antibiotic activity and partial positive charge of the TAMSH probably enhanced their antimicrobial effects. Fabric Eu (coated with Ag NPs with eugenol derivates in surface, Ag@EugenolSH) and Fabric FQPEG (coated with Ag NPs embedded in PEG-fluoroquinolone derivatives in surface, Ag@FQPEG) displayed antibacterial activity for both Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains. These coated antimicrobial cotton fabrics can be applied in different medical textiles.  相似文献

Using aqueous extraction of red sanders powder as a reducing agent, silver and copper bimetallic nanoparticles were in situ generated in cotton fabrics. Silver and copper nanoparticles were also generated separately for comparison. The resulted nanocomposite cotton fabrics (NCFs) were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and antibacterial tests. SEM analysis indicated the generation of more number of nanoparticles when bimetallic source solutions were used. Further, the size range of the generated bimetallic nanoparticles was found to be lower than when individual metal nanoparticles were generated in NCFs. XRD analysis confirmed the in situ generation of silver and copper nanoparticles when equimolar bimetallic salt source solutions were utilized. The NCFs with bimetallic nanoparticles exhibited higher antibacterial activity against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria and hence can be considered for applications as antibacterial bed and dressing materials.  相似文献

In the present study, tailor-made ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) fibers containing different amounts of antimicrobial silver ions and nanoparticles were developed by electrospinning and subsequent thermal annealing. The morphology of the fibers was examined by scanning and transmission electron microscopy and thermal properties were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry. Speciation and controlled release of silver from the fibers was monitored by anodic stripping voltammetry and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Before aging, 100 % of the silver recovered from the electrospun structures was in ionic form to be instantly released in contact with moisture with varying temperature-dependent kinetics. Thermal annealing of the fibers at 100 °C for 1, 2, and 4 days prompted the gradual transformation of 70, 93–94, and 98–99 % of the total silver into nanoparticles homogeneously distributed along the fibers, which were mostly retained within them, producing a substantial decrease in their release capacity. Speciation and release profiles from the fibers were correlated with their antibacterial performance against Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella enteric. This study is a step forward in the understanding of silver-based electrospun antimicrobial polymers and puts forth the suitability of EVOH for the development of targeted delivery systems in a number of applications.  相似文献

A novel N-halamine precursor with tertiary amino group (5,5-dimethylhydantoinyl-3-ylethyl)-dimethylamine (DEADH), was synthesized and then covalently bonded onto cotton fabrics modified by 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane to form quaternarized N-halamine precursor grafted cotton fabrics which could be transferred to N-halamine structure upon exposure to dilute sodium hypochlorite solution. The grafted cotton fabrics were characterized by FT-IR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and field emission scanning electron microscope. The antimicrobial test showed that the cotton fabrics grafted with the quaternarized N-halamine were capable of 7-log inactivation of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli O157:H7 within 1 min of contact time. Very interestingly, it was found that the grafting process and following chlorination had almost no adverse effect on the tensile strength of cotton fabrics. Furthermore, the antimicrobial cotton fabrics exhibited good washing durability and stability.  相似文献

Green synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) from Prunus × yedoensis leaf extract (PYLE), and their application for removal of phosphate and their antibacterial activity, were studied for the first time. NPs were obtained using a green chemistry approach from 0.1 M TiO2 and PYLE at ratio of 1:1 (v/w). Initial confirmation of production of TiO2 NPs was provided by a color change from white to light yellow, then calcination was performed at 500 °C for 1 h. The TiO2 NPs were characterized using various analytical techniques such as ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The results indicated that the optimal amount of TiO2 NPs for removal of phosphate was 10 mg/l (10 ppm) with duration of 25 min. Furthermore, the antibacterial activity of TiO2 NPs was also investigated using two different bacteria (Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative Escherichia coli) in aqueous medium. The results revealed highly efficient sunlight-driven photocatalytic and antibacterial activity of TiO2 NPs.  相似文献

This study concerns the organic–inorganic hybrid coating of silica sol based on dyed cotton, silk and wool fabrics in order to increase the repellence to capsicum oil via adding methyltriethoxysilane, octyltriethoxysilane, hexadec-ltrimethoxysilane or tridecafluorooctyltriethoxysilane (FAS) in the inorganic silica sol. The dyed cotton fabric treated with hybrid silica sol doped with FAS (F-silica sol, FAS 4 %) presents oil-repellent capability, and the contact angles of capsicum oil on the treated cotton, silk and wool fabrics are 98.5°, 111.59° and 122.15°, respectively. A high FAS concentration (20 %) can improve the oil-repellent ability to 5 grades comparing to the untreated fabrics. The color strengths (K/S) of the coated fabrics change slightly, while the maximum absorption wavelengths of the coated fabrics are the same as the untreated fabrics. Although the drape coefficient of cotton fabric is increased to 54 % from 39 % after coated with F-silica sol, the effect is not significant. Compared to the weight gain rate of untreated cotton, silk and wool samples (1.89, 1.23 and 2.38 %), the weight gain rate of the cotton, silk and wool samples coated with F-silica sol are 6.99, 4.76 and 7.69 %, respectively. The calculated sol–gel weight gains (5.10, 3.53 and 5.31 %) of coated fabrics indicate that the silica coating is subsistent on the fiber surfaces.  相似文献
