The properties and applications of omnidirectional and independently tunable defect modes in fractal photonic crystals containing
single-negative materials are demonstrated. The proposed fractal structures can produce as many defect modes as desired by
adjusting its structural parameters. The interaction effect between the defect states of such fractal structures is avoided,
so the frequency of each defect mode can be tuned independently. Furthermore, these defect modes inside the zero effective-phase
gap are insensitive to the incident angle. With perfect transmission, mode controllability and omnidirectional compatibility,
these structures open a promising way for designing omnidirectional multichannel filters with specific channels. 相似文献

We propose and demonstrate an independently tunable omnidirectional multichannel filter by combining the advantages of the independently tunable filtering properties of fractal structures and the omnidirectional resonant modes of one-dimensional photonic crystals containing negative-index materials. Compared to the conventional multichannel filters, each channel of the proposed filter can be tuned separately, and the frequency position of the filter is insensitive to the incident angle of light. It thus provides a simple way for designing omnidirectional multichannel filters with specific channels. 相似文献

The multichannel filtering properties have been investigated by means of the transfer matrix method in photonic crystals containing
two kinds of single-negative materials. Two sets of filtering channels appear simultaneously in the zero effective phase gaps.
One is omnidirectional for TE polarization but angle-sensitive for TM polarization, while the other is angle-sensitive for
TE polarization but omnidirectional for TM polarization. The resonance modes for different channels can be independently tuned.
This structure provides an efficient way to fabricate omnidirectional multichannel filters with independently tunable polarization

Single-negative materials based on photonic crystal with multiple defect layers are designed and the free modulation of defect modes is studied. The results show that the multi-defect structure can avoid the interference between the defect states. Therefore, the designed double defect modes in the zero effective-phase gap can be adjusted independently by changing the thickness of different defect layers. In addition, the two tunable defect modes have the omnidirectional characteristics. This multi-defect structure with above-mentioned two advantages has potential applications in modern optical devices such as tunable omnidirectional filters. 相似文献

基于光子晶体的光子局域特性,并利用光子晶体的介观压光效应,提出了一种新型的双通道可调滤波器结构.采用传输矩阵法对该滤波器的光学传输特性进行了理论推导,建立了透射谱与光子晶体结构参数的关系,讨论了介观压光效应对双缺陷光子晶体透射谱的影响,并对所设计的光子晶体结构进行了数值模拟.结果表明:随着入射角度的增大,缺陷峰发生蓝移.随着各介质层折射率或几何厚度的增加,缺陷峰发生红移.当光子晶体发生轴向拉伸应变时,缺陷峰的位置向长波长移动,但缺陷峰的峰值大体不变,从而验证了此滤波器的可调节性.该光子晶体滤波器结构紧凑,可调谐性好,为光子晶体激光器及传感器的设计提供了一定的理论参考. 相似文献

A magnetically tunable, non-Bragg defect mode (NBDM) was created in the terahertz frequency range by inserting a defect in the middle of a periodically corrugated waveguide filled with liquid crystals (LCs). In the periodic waveguide, non-Bragg gaps beyond the Bragg ones, which appear in the transmission spectra, are created by different transverse mode resonances. The transmission spectra of the waveguide containing a defect showed that a defect mode was present inside the non-Bragg gap. The NBDM has quite different features compared to the Bragg defect mode, which includes more complex, high-order guided wave modes. In our study, we filled the corrugated waveguide with LCs to realize the tunability of the NBDM. The simulated results showed that the NBDM in a corrugated waveguide filled with LCs can be used in filters, sensors, switches, and other terahertz integrated devices. 相似文献

The current research work presents the theoretical results of demonstrating novel dichromatic filters, which consist of blue and yellow light. A one-dimensional photonic crystal or photonic heterostructure of Si/MgF2 is analyzed in detail by fully considering the effects of structural parameters using the transfer matrix method. The position and the number of defect modes are shown to have relationships with the repeat cycle counts of various photonic crystals. When the photonic heterostructures have the optimized structural parameters, defect modes can be obtained with high transmittances located in blue and yellow light. This photonic heterostructure is expected to be used in dichromatic filters with wide non-transmission range in a visible range. 相似文献

The peculiarities of defect modes and reflection spectra of chiral photonic crystals (CPC) with an isotropic defect for various thicknesses of the defect layer were investigated. The peculiarities of the spectra of photonic density of the state (DOS) and those of the intensity at the center of the defect were investigated, too. It was shown that there is one more possibility of tuning of laser emission - by the change of the defect layer thickness - in CPCs doped with laser dyes (with resonance atoms) and with an isotropic defect. It was shown that the given system can work as a tunable narrow-band filter (or mirror) with tunable wavelength width and tunable location of frequency of the complete transmittance (reflection) band. The radiation peculiarities of these systems were discussed. It was shown that in certain conditions an anomalous strong radiation can be observed for defect modes, and low-threshold laser generation is possible, again, for these modes. It was also shown that radiation suppression is possible for defect modes. The peculiarities of group velocity, group velocity dispersion and non-reciprocity were studied. 相似文献

采用时域有限差分法研究了二维八重准晶有机光子晶体的光传输特性,重点分析了光束在聚苯乙烯空气柱平板结构和聚苯乙烯介质柱结构中的透射特性与光局域特性。研究结果表明,即使在低折射率对比度的情况下,两种完整八重准晶平板结构中均出现了可见光波段的光子带隙和本征模,且光子带隙中心位置随着平板厚度的增大而红移。当在两种准晶结构中引入缺陷微腔时,带隙内的缺陷模产生位置和波长红移特性随着微腔结构的变化规律明显不同,这种差异性是由两种物理机制(即光子晶体缺陷能级变化与微腔所支持的驻波条件)共同作用的结果。这一研究结果将为实验制备有机准晶发光器件提供一定的理论基础。 相似文献

The properties of localized electromagnetic modes in a one-dimensional photonic crystal with a structural defect layer were studied. The role of the defect was played by an anisotropic nematic liquid crystal layer. The frequency and the damping factor of defect modes were shown to substantially depend on the defect layer thickness and the orientation of the optical axis of the nematic. The transmission spectra of photonic crystals with one and two lattice defects were studied. Taking into account the special feature of nematic liquid crystals distinguishing them from usual crystals, namely, large permittivity anisotropy, it was shown that the transmission spectrum of the photonic crystal could be controlled by varying the orientation of the optical axis of the nematic, for instance, under the action of an external electric field. 相似文献

Based on the polystyrene material of low refractive index, light localization in photonic bandgaps of two kinds of 2D octagonal quasiperiodic photonic crystal slabs are investigated in theory, including the air-rod polystyrene slab and polystyrene-rod slab. The properties of bandgaps and localized modes in both two defect-free patterns are analyzed in detail. When a single-point defect is introduced into two quasiperiodic structures, the position of emerging defect modes and the red-shifting of resonant modes in wavelength are observed quite differently when the defect microcavity is increased in size. This difference is caused by the competition of two physical mechanisms, which are the effect of defect energy levels caused by defects introduced into photonic crystals and the resonance of modes in the defect cavity. These results will provide theoretical support for experimental fabrication of organic light-emitting quasiperiodic photonic crystal devices. 相似文献

A theoretical analysis of a design of multiple narrow bandpass filters based on one-dimensional (1D) rugate photonic structures with a period jump defect is presented. The optical properties, including transmittance and energy density distributions, are numerically calculated using the propagation matrix method. Our results show that multiple resonance transmission modes are produced when the period jump defect is introduced into the 1D rugate film. Both blueshift and redshift of the stop band of the rugate structure and wavelengths of resonant modes are observed, depending on the change of period jump. The number, the wavelengths, the band intervals, and the intensities of multiple resonance transmission modes are tunable by adjusting structure parameters of the rugate structure. Experimental feasibility of the proposed multiple narrow bandpass optical filters using the technique of glancing angle deposition is also discussed. 相似文献

A photonic heterostructure with multi-channel and sharp angular defect modes by combining two different one-dimensional defective photonic crystals is proposed. The filters designed on the basis of this heterostructure possess both functions of multi-channel narrow band filtering and sharp angular filtering.The channels, channel interval, and number of channels can be tuned by adjusting the geometric and physical parameters of the heterostuctures. 一维液晶光子晶体在光滤波器、低阈值激光器和光开关等领域有着很好的应用前景。研究了一维液晶光子晶体的透射谱,电压范围在0~10V内,光谱调谐范围约为50nm,透射峰半高宽为18nm,禁带宽度近400nm。进一步提出了非偏振光型液晶光子晶体,设计了相互垂直0°扭曲取向的双液晶层一维液晶光子晶体器件。双液晶层起到了对各向偏振光光程的补偿作用,使得禁带中的两个透射峰合并为一个透射峰,加强了光强度,增强了滤波性能。 相似文献

Using the transfer matrix method, the effect of temperature on one-dimensional (1D) nanostructure photonic crystal with coupled defects has been investigated. One of the layers of this structure is silver. The complex refractive index of silver is dependent on temperature and wavelength. This structure is tunable with temperature and incident angle. It is found that the number of defect modes is equal to the number of coupled defects in all incident angles for both polarizations. Also by increasing the temperature, due to dissipation, the wavelength of the defect modes increases and the height of the defect modes decreases. The wavelengths of defect modes depend linearly on temperature for both polarizations in all incident angles. 相似文献

用超胞平面波展开法计算了二维正方格子介质柱光子晶体缺陷模,系统模拟了在改变缺陷模数目和缺陷模之间的距离及在不同耦合方向等情况下的耦合特性。计算结果表明:局域缺陷模之间的耦合所产生分裂的缺陷模式频率随着缺陷之间的距离而发生变化.当缺陷之间距离增加时,缺陷模之间耦合变得越来越弱且奇模和偶模交替变化;随着耦合缺陷点数目增加,缺陷模在光子带隙内形成一个缺陷带;当平面波平行于缺陷模耦合方向入射时.可以同时激发奇模和偶模.当入射平面波垂直于耦合方向时.仅产生偶模;沿对角线方向耦合的定域化的缺陷模电磁场快速衰减使得那些方向每一个单谐振腔局域光场与它邻近的谐振腔不发生耦合,其本征频率与波矢无关。 相似文献
