Pulsed laser ablation (PLA) has been widely employed in industrial and biological applications and in other fields. The environmental conditions in which PLA is conducted are important parameters that affect both the solid particle cloud and the deposition produced by the plume. In this work, the generation of nanoparticles (NPs) has been developed by performing PLA of silver (Ag) plates in a supercritical CO2 medium. Ag NPs were successfully generated by allowing the selective generation of clusters. Laser ablation was performed with an excitation wavelength of 532 nm under various pressures and temperatures of CO2 medium. On the basis of the experimental result, both surface of the irradiated Ag plate and structure of Ag NPs were significantly affected by the changes in supercritical CO2 pressure and temperature. With increasing irradiation pressure, plume deposited in the surrounding crater created by the ablation was clearly observed. In Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) the image of the generated Ag NPs on the silicon wafer and the morphology of Ag particles were basically a sphere-like structure. Ag particles contain NPs with large-varied diameter ranging from 5 nm to 1.2 μm. The bigger Ag NPs melted during the ablation process and then ejected smaller spherical Ag NPs, which formed nanoclusters attached on the molten Ag NPs. The smaller Ag NPs were also formed around the bigger Ag NPs. Based on the results, this new method can also be used to obtain advanced nano-structured materials.  相似文献

Copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) were prepared by different chemical methods possessing different sizes. While, silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared by borohydride reduction method. The influences the changes in sizes of Ag NPs and Cu NPs were demonstrated by the absorption spectra. When Ag NPs and Cu NPs irradiated with 193 and 308 nm excimer laser, respectively; the maximum absorption decreased as the number of pulses increased up to 10 thousands pulse; due to the size reduction. The TEM photography gives good criteria about the size reduction process. Moreover, the mechanism of photofragmentation was described.  相似文献

Hexagonally ordered mesoporous silica materials, MCM-41 and SBA-15, have been synthesized and loaded with Ag nanoparticles, utilizing both chemical synthesis and ultra-short pulsed laser ablation in liquid. In laser ablation, a silver target, immersed in aqueous suspension of ordered mesoporous silica SBA-15, was irradiated by ultra-short laser pulses to generate silver nanoparticles. For comparison, samples of similar silver contents were prepared either by incorporating silver into the SBA-15 during a hydrothermal synthesis or by introducing silver in MCM-41 by template ion-exchange. Samples were characterized by XRD, N2 physisorption, TEM and UV–vis spectroscopy. All preparations contained significant amount of 5–50 nm size silver agglomerates on the outer surface of the silica particles. The laser ablation process did not cause significant destruction of the SBA-15 structure and metallic silver (Ag0) nanoparticles were mainly generated. It is demonstrated that by laser ablation in aqueous silica suspension smaller and more uniform metallic silver particles can be produced and loaded on the surface of the silica support than by synthesis procedures. Catalytic properties of the samples have been tested in the total oxidation of toluene. Because of its favorable Ag dispersity, the Ag/SBA-15 catalyst, generated by the laser ablation method, had better catalytic stability and, relative to its Ag load, higher activity than the conventional Ag/SBA-15 preparations.  相似文献

Silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by laser ablation in water with an aim to enhance the luminescence of rare earth coordinated complex in polymer host. A fixed concentration of the complex containing Samarium (Sm), Salicylic acid (Sal) and 1, 10-phenanthroline (Phen) were combined with different concentrations of silver NPs in PolyVinyl Alcohol at room temperature. Absorption spectrum and XRD patterns of the sample show that the Sm(Sal)3Phen complex is accompanied by Ag NPs. The luminescence from the complex was recorded in the presence and absence of Ag NPs using two different excitation wavelengths viz. 400 and 355 nm. Of these, 400 nm radiation falls in the surface plasmon resonance of Ag NPs. It was found that the Ag NPs led to a significant enhancement in luminescence of the complex. Surprisingly, a high concentration of Ag NPs tends to quench the luminescence.  相似文献

Silica core–silver shell, silver nanoshells (NSs), have been synthesized by an innovative laser-based approach. The NSs’ nucleation and growth progressed upon the pulse strikes of a copper vapor laser on a colloidal solution containing silver and silica nanoparticles (NPs). The silver NPs were separately synthesized by ablation of a silver target in deionized water by a 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The dependence of silver NSs’ growth on the laser exposure time has been systematically studied by UV–VIS absorption spectroscopy technique. Transmission electron microscopy was exploited as well to visually confirm the NSs’ evolution through the process.  相似文献

We report an experimental study on the synthesis of metal nanoparticles (NPs) with adjustable optical density based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR). Metal NPs prepared by laser ablation in liquid method and the effect of laser parameters on the size, distribution, wavelength of SPR of Ag, Au, and mixture of Ag-Au, and Ag core/Au shell NPs are investigated. Our results show that the adjustable SPR band can be achieved in each class of NPs which is suitable for adjustable optical window applications.  相似文献

Laser ablation of a silver (Ag) and/or gold (Au) target was performed in liquid ammonia (l-NH3) at 233 K using nanosecond laser pulses of 1064, 532 and 355 nm wavelengths. An “in situ” monitoring of the ablation process by UV/vis/NIR spectroscopy has shown the evolution of the surface plasmon extinction band of silver or gold nanoparticles and thus confirmed their formation. While sols of Au nanoparticles in l-NH3 are quite stable in air, those of Ag nanoparticles undergo oxidation to Ag(I) complexes with NH3 ligands. On the other hand, formation of solvated electrons, namely of the (e)NH3 solvates, has not been unequivocally confirmed under the conditions of our laser ablation/nanoparticle fragmentation experiment, since only very weak vis/NIR spectral features of these solvates were observed with a low reproducibility. Reference experiments have shown that the well-known chemical production of these solvates is hindered by the presence of Ag and Au plates. Ag and Au targets can thus possibly act as electron scavengers in our ablation experiments.  相似文献

We report the deposition of thin films of silver (Ag) nanoparticles by pulsed laser ablation in vacuum using the third line (355 nm) of a YAG:Nd laser. The nanostructure and/or morphology of the films was investigated as a function of the number of ablation pulses, by means of transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Our results show that films deposited with a small number of ablation pulses (500 or less), are not continuous, but formed of isolated nearly spherical Ag nanoparticles with diameters in the range from 1 nm to 8 nm. The effect of increasing the number of pulses by one order of magnitude (5000) is to increase the mean diameter of the globular nanoparticles and also the Ag areal density. Further increase of the number of pulses, up to 10,000, produces the formation of larger and anisotropic nanoparticles, and for 15,000 pulses, quasi-percolated Ag films are obtained. The presence of Ag nanoparticles in the films was also evidenced from the appearance of a strong optical absorption band associated with surface plasmon resonance. This band was widened and its peak shifted from 425 nm to 700 nm as the number of laser pulses was increased from 500 to 15,000.  相似文献

We have investigated the nonlinear response of the silver nanoparticle samples in a low-power regime of electromagnetic field based on nonlocal thermo-optic models. In this work, the experimental investigation of the thermo-optic nonlinear response of Ag colloids containing different size of silver nanoparticles is reported. The colloidal nanoparticle samples were synthesized by nanosecond pulsed laser ablation of Ag bulk in acetone. The sample containing Ag was characterized by linear absorption spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Using the z-scan technique, the behavior of thermal nonlinear refractive index of colloid was studied at different concentrations of silver nanoparticles. Observation of asymmetrical configurations of the z-scan data indicates that nonlinear refraction occurring in the Ag samples is related to the thermo-optical process. The optical limiting here is due to nonlinear refraction of the samples arising from thermal lens formation under low-power CW excitation. When the laser power is low, the self-defocusing effect is mainly dominated by surface plasmon resonance effect. Results show that with increasing concentration of nanoparticles in acetone, the nonlinear refractive index increases while the threshold power of optical limiting decreases.  相似文献

Au–Ag bimetallic nanochains were prepared using pulsed laser ablation in liquid medium. Synthesis was performed by ablating silver target in a gold colloidal suspension. The plasmon characteristics of the nanostructures are found to be sensitive to ablation duration. AFM and TEM images indicate that almost all nanoparticles, both Au and Ag in the suspension participate in the growth process. An attempt was also made to realize plasmon hybridization by reducing the volume of the suspension by simple evaporation. The nanochains were tested for application as SERS substrates by using crystal violet as probe molecules.  相似文献

Nanomaterials with antimicrobial activity are promising alternatives to overcome microbial resistance in medical devices. Catheters, probes, and wound dressings are among the medical devices mostly affected by microbial contamination and the formation of polymicrobial biofilms. Nanoparticles (NPs) derived from natural sources, such as chitosan nanoparticles (CsNPs), and metal-based nanoparticles, including silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), are receiving increased interest in nanomedicine. CsNPs have been widely explored as a coating material and antimicrobial agent. AgNPs have a strong antimicrobial effect against bacteria and fungi. The nanocomposite chitosan–silver nanoparticles (Cs-AgNPs) can be more effective against several microorganisms, including multidrug-resistant bacteria, due to the synergistic effect between chitosan and silver. This review addresses the most used synthesis methods, including green routes, to produce CsNPs, AgNPs, and Cs–AgNPs. It also discusses physicochemical characteristics and antimicrobial properties of these NPs in medical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological areas.  相似文献

We performed laser ablation of a silver plate in polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) aqueous solutions to prepare silver nanoparticles. Secondary laser irradiation onto the prepared colloidal solutions was also carried out. It was revealed that the formation efficiency was increased by addition of PVP as well as the stability of nanoparticles. The result of shadowgraph measurements suggested that the increased ablation efficiency by PVP is attributable to increased secondary etching efficiency by the solvent-confined plasma toward the silver plate. On the other hand, the size decrease of the nanoparticles by addition of PVP was more remarkable during the secondary irradiation process than in the laser ablation (nanoparticle preparation) process. This result indicates that emitted materials interact less sufficiently with PVP molecules in the laser ablation process than in the secondary laser irradiation process.  相似文献

Bare Ag nanoparticles (~10 nm) and Ag nanoparticles (1–20 nm) on the surfaces of larger TiOx nanoparticles were prepared by laser ablation of microparticle aerosols (LAMA). The behaviors of the nanoparticles during high temperature annealing were then studied with ex situ and in situ transmission electron microscopy. For the ex situ heating experiments, Ag and Ag-on-TiOx NPs were collected onto gold TEM grids and subjected to annealing treatments at 500 °C in argon, vacuum, and air. At this temperature, bare Ag NPs on carbon TEM supports coarsened rapidly in both air and argon atmospheres. In contrast, Ag-on-TiOx NPs that were heated to 500 °C in flowing argon or in a vacuum did not coarsen significantly and were remarkably stable. Ag-on-TiOx NPs that were heated to 500 °C in air, however, behaved quite differently. The TiOx crystallized upon heating and a significant loss of Ag were observed from the surfaces of the TiOx, likely due to sublimation. These results demonstrate that the surface defect structure and chemistry of the oxide support strongly influence the thermal stability of Ag NPs produced by LAMA.  相似文献

This paper describes the synthesis of nanoporous AuPt nanoparticles (np-AuPt NPs) by galvanic replacement reactions that involve large-sized silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) electrodeposited upon an indium tin oxide (ITO) film glass as a sacrificial template. Compared to a previous synthetic route based on the formation and dealloying of Ag/Au alloy nanoparticles, this method can easily fabricate nanoporous Au nanoparticles (np-Au NPs), as well as nanoporous AuPt nanoparticles. Structural characterization indicated that the products had a particle size of ~170 nm with a ligament size of tens of nanometers. The fabricated np-Au NPs/ITO and np-AuPt NPs/ITO electrode were also tested and compared for the oxidation of hydrogen peroxide in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0). The np-AuPt NPs/ITO electrode showed a much higher electrocatalytic efficiency and detection sensitivity to hydrogen peroxide than the np-Au NPs/ITO electrode.  相似文献

Metal nanoparticles can be prepared by a novel technique that consists of the laser ablation of a solid target immersed in a water solution of a metal salt. Silicon was chosen as the most adequate target to synthesize silver and gold nanoparticles from a water solution of either AgNO3 or HAuCl4. The influence of both the silver nitrate concentrations and the irradiation time of the Si target on the optical properties of the Au and Ag nanoparticles have been investigated. The crystalline nature of the metal nanoparticles has been determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Average size and particle size distribution have been measured by means of TEM. The absorbance spectra show the characteristic band of the surface resonant plasmon of silver and gold nanoparticles.  相似文献

The effect of the density of supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) on the dynamics of formation of supercritical fluid (SCF) silver colloids during pulse laser ablation and their post-pulse degradation was studied by in situ UV/vis absorption spectroscopy. Laser irradiation of a silver target in SC-CO2 caused ablative formation of Ag nanoparticles of different shapes and sizes: quasi-spherical particles (~4 nm) and larger Ag nanoparticles (hundreds of nanometers). A change in the colloid density from 0.24 to 0.82 g/cm3 caused significant changes in the dynamics of ablative formation of large and small particles, the rate of aggregation of small Ag particles into large particles, and the rate of gravitation-induced sedimentation of nanoparticles in the SCF colloid.  相似文献

A study is presented of the properties of Ag nanoparticles produced by nanosecond pulsed laser ablation in twice-distilled water. An Ag target was immersed in the liquid and irradiated by the fundamental, second, third and fourth harmonics of a Nd:YAG laser system to create different colloids. Two specific boundary values of the laser fluence were applied for each wavelength. The properties of the nanoparticles at different wavelengths of the laser radiation were examined. The characterization of the colloids was performed immediately after their fabrication. Spherical and spherical-like shapes of the nanoparticles created were established. The formation of nanowires was observed when the second and the third harmonics of the laser were used. It is connected with self-absorption of the incident laser light from the already-created nanoparticles and depends also on the laser fluence. The size distribution of the nanoparticles is estimated by transmission electron microscopy. Generally, their mean size and standard deviation decreased as the wavelength of the incident laser light was increased and increased with the increase of the laser fluence. The substantial discrepancy between the results already commented on for both characteristics considered and others, obtained by dynamic light scattering, is discussed. The structure of the nanoparticles was established to be single and polycrystalline, and the phase composition in both cases is identified as consisting of cubic silver. The nanoparticles are slightly oxidized.  相似文献
