Let \(M_w = ({\mathbb {P}}^1)^n /\!/\hbox {SL}_2\) denote the geometric invariant theory quotient of \(({\mathbb {P}}^1)^n\) by the diagonal action of \(\hbox {SL}_2\) using the line bundle \(\mathcal {O}(w_1,w_2,\ldots ,w_n)\) on \(({\mathbb {P}}^1)^n\) . Let \(R_w\) be the coordinate ring of \(M_w\) . We give a closed formula for the Hilbert function of \(R_w\) , which allows us to compute the degree of \(M_w\) . The graded parts of \(R_w\) are certain Kostka numbers, so this Hilbert function computes stretched Kostka numbers. If all the weights \(w_i\) are even, we find a presentation of \(R_w\) so that the ideal \(I_w\) of this presentation has a quadratic Gröbner basis. In particular, \(R_w\) is Koszul. We obtain this result by studying the homogeneous coordinate ring of a projective toric variety arising as a degeneration of \(M_w\) .  相似文献

Let $S_\mathbb Q (d)$ be the set of primes $p$ for which there exists a number field $K$ of degree $\le d$ and an elliptic curve $E/\mathbb Q $ , such that the order of the torsion subgroup of $E(K)$ is divisible by $p$ . In this article we give bounds for the primes in the set $S_\mathbb Q (d)$ . In particular, we show that, if $p\ge 11$ , $p\ne 13,37$ , and $p\in S_\mathbb Q (d)$ , then $p\le 2d+1$ . Moreover, we determine $S_\mathbb Q (d)$ for all $d\le 42$ , and give a conjectural formula for all $d\ge 1$ . If Serre’s uniformity problem is answered positively, then our conjectural formula is valid for all sufficiently large $d$ . Under further assumptions on the non-cuspidal points on modular curves that parametrize those $j$ -invariants associated to Cartan subgroups, the formula is valid for all $d\ge 1$ .  相似文献

Let $D$ be an integrally closed domain with quotient field $K$ and $n$ a positive integer. We give a characterization of the polynomials in $K[X]$ which are integer-valued over the set of matrices $M_n(D)$ in terms of their divided differences. A necessary and sufficient condition on $f\in K[X]$ to be integer-valued over $M_n(D)$ is that, for each $k$ less than $n$ , the $k$ th divided difference of $f$ is integral-valued on every subset of the roots of any monic polynomial over $D$ of degree $n$ . If in addition $D$ has zero Jacobson radical then it is sufficient to check the above conditions on subsets of the roots of monic irreducible polynomials of degree $n$ , that is, conjugate integral elements of degree $n$ over $D$ .  相似文献

We introduce another notion of bounded logarithmic mean oscillation in the \(N\) -torus and give an equivalent definition in terms of boundedness of multi-parameter paraproducts from the dyadic little \(\mathrm {BMO}\) , \(\mathrm {bmo}^d(\mathbb {T}^N)\) to the dyadic product \(\mathrm {BMO}\) space, \(\mathrm {BMO}^d(\mathbb {T}^N)\) . We also obtain a sufficient condition for the boundedness of the iterated commutators from the subspace of \(\mathrm {bmo}(\mathbb {R}^N)\) consisting of functions with support in \([0,1]^N\) to \(\mathrm {BMO}(\mathbb {R}^N)\) .  相似文献

We give an asymptotic expression for the number of nonsingular integer $n\times n$ -matrices with primitive row vectors, determinant $k$ , and Euclidean matrix norm less than $T$ , as $T\rightarrow \infty $ . We also investigate the density of matrices with primitive rows in the space of matrices with determinant $k$ , and determine its asymptotics for large $k$ .  相似文献

Let \(G\) be a connected Lie group and \(S\) a generating Lie semigroup. An important fact is that generating Lie semigroups admit simply connected covering semigroups. Denote by \(\widetilde{S}\) the simply connected universal covering semigroup of \(S\) . In connection with the problem of identifying the semigroup \(\Gamma (S)\) of monotonic homotopy with a certain subsemigroup of the simply connected covering semigroup \(\widetilde{S}\) we consider in this paper the following subsemigroup $$\begin{aligned} \widetilde{S}_{L}=\overline{\left\langle \mathrm {Exp}(\mathbb {L} (S))\right\rangle } \subset \widetilde{S}, \end{aligned}$$ where \(\mathrm {Exp}:\mathbb {L}(S)\rightarrow S\) is the lifting to \( \widetilde{S}\) of the exponential mapping \(\exp :\mathbb {L}(S)\rightarrow S\) . We prove that \(\widetilde{S}_{L}\) is also simply connected under the assumption that the Lie semigroup \(S\) is right reversible. We further comment how this result should be related to the identification problem mentioned above.  相似文献

Let \(p\) and \(\ell \) be two distinct prime numbers and let \(\Gamma \) be a group. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the mod- \(\ell \) Betti numbers in \(p\) -adic analytic towers of finite index subgroups. If \(\Theta \) is a finite \(\ell \) -group of automorphisms of \(\Gamma \) , our main theorem allows to lift lower bounds for the mod- \(\ell \) cohomology growth in the fixed point group \(\Gamma ^\Theta \) to lower bounds for the growth in \(\Gamma \) . We give applications to \(S\) -arithmetic groups and we also obtain a similar result for cohomology with rational coefficients.  相似文献

Let $X$ and $ Z$ be Banach spaces, $A$ a closed subset of $X$ and a mapping $f:A\rightarrow Z$ . We give necessary and sufficient conditions to obtain a $C^1$ smooth mapping $F:X \rightarrow Z$ such that $F_{\mid _A}=f$ , when either (i) $X$ and $Z$ are Hilbert spaces and $X$ is separable, or (ii) $X^*$ is separable and $Z$ is an absolute Lipschitz retract, or (iii) $X=L_2$ and $Z=L_p$ with $1<p<2$ , or (iv) $X=L_p$ and $Z=L_2$ with $2<p<\infty $ , where $L_p$ is any separable Banach space $L_p(S,\Sigma ,\mu )$ with $(S,\Sigma ,\mu )$ a $\sigma $ -finite measure space.  相似文献

Let $r$ be a prime and $G$ be a finite group, and let $R, \,S$ be Sylow $r$ -subgroups of $G$ and $\text{ PGL }(2, r)$ respectively. We prove the following results: (1) If $|G|=|\text{ PGL }(2, r)|$ and $|N_{G}(R)|=|N_{\mathrm{PGL}(2, r)} (S)|$ and $r$ is not a Mersenne prime, then $G$ is isomorphic to $\text{ PSL } (2, r) \times C_{2}, \,\text{ SL }(2, r)$ or $\text{ PGL }(2, r)$ . (2) If $|G|=|\text{ PGL }(2, r)|, \,|N_{G}(R)|=|N_{\mathrm{PGL}(2, r)}(S)|$ where $r>3$ is a Mersenne prime and $r$ is an isolated vertex of the prime graph of $G$ , then $G\cong \text{ PGL }(2, r)$ .  相似文献

A subgroup $H$ of a finite group $G$ is weakly-supplemented in $G$ if there exists a proper subgroup $K$ of $G$ such that $G=HK$ . In this paper we prove that a finite group $G$ is $p$ -nilpotent if every minimal subgroup of $P\bigcap G^{N}$ is weakly-supplemented in $G$ , and when $p=2$ either every cyclic subgroup of $P\bigcap G^{N}$ with order 4 is weakly-supplemented in $G$ or $P$ is quaternion-free, where $p$ is the smallest prime number dividing the order of $G$ , $P$ a sylow $p$ -subgroup of $G$ .  相似文献

In this paper, we show that the extended modular group ${\hat{\Gamma}}$ acts on ${\hat{\mathbb{Q}}}$ transitively and imprimitively. Then the number of orbits of ${\hat{\Gamma} _{0}(N)}$ on ${\hat{\mathbb{Q}}}$ is calculated and compared with the number of orbits of ${\Gamma _{0}(N)}$ on ${\hat{\mathbb{Q}}}$ . Especially, we obtain the graphs ${\hat{G}_{u, N}}$ of ${\hat{\Gamma}_{0}(N)}$ on ${\hat{\mathbb{Q}}}$ , for each ${N\in\mathbb{N}}$ and each unit ${u \in U_{N} }$ , then we determine the suborbital graph ${\hat{F}_{u,N}}$ . We also give the edge conditions in ${\hat{G}_{u, N}}$ and the necessary and sufficient conditions for a circuit to be triangle in ${\hat{F}_{u, N}.}$   相似文献

Let \(\mathfrak{A }\) be a Banach \(*\) -algebra and let \(\varphi \) be a nonzero self-adjoint character on \(\mathfrak{A }\) . For a   \(*\) -representation \(\pi \) of \(\mathfrak{A }\) on a Hilbert space \(\mathcal{H }\) , we introduce and study strong \(\varphi \) -amenability of \(\pi \) in terms of certain states on the von Neumann algebra of bounded operators on \(\mathcal{H }\) . We then give some characterizations of this notion in terms of certain positive functionals on \(\mathfrak{A }\) . We finally investigate some hereditary properties of strong \(\varphi \) -amenability of Banach algebras.  相似文献

For a finite group \(G\) , let \(d(G)\) denote the probability that a randomly chosen pair of elements of \(G\) commute. We prove that if \(d(G)>1/s\) for some integer \(s>1\) and \(G\) splits over an abelian normal nontrivial subgroup \(N\) , then \(G\) has a nontrivial conjugacy class inside \(N\) of size at most \(s-1\) . We also extend two results of Barry, MacHale, and Ní Shé on the commuting probability in connection with supersolvability of finite groups. In particular, we prove that if \(d(G)>5/16\) then either \(G\) is supersolvable, or \(G\) isoclinic to \(A_4\) , or \(G/\mathbf{Z}(G)\) is isoclinic to \(A_4\) .  相似文献

Let \((M,g)\) be a compact Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\ge 3\) . In this paper, we give various properties of the eigenvalues of the Yamabe operator \(L_g\) . In particular, we show how the second eigenvalue of \(L_g\) is related to the existence of nodal solutions of the equation \(L_g u = {\varepsilon }|u|^{N-2}u,\) where \({\varepsilon }= +1,\) \(0,\) or \(-1.\)   相似文献

Let \(G\) be a directed graph with \(n\) vertices embedded on an orientable surface of genus \(g\) with two designated vertices \(s\) and \(t\) . We show that computing the number of minimum \((s,t)\) -cuts in \(G\) is fixed-parameter tractable in \(g\) . Specifically, we give a \(2^{O(g)} n^2\) time algorithm for this problem. Our algorithm requires counting sets of cycles in a particular integer homology class. That we can count these cycles is an interesting result in itself as there are no prior results that are fixed-parameter tractable and deal directly with integer homology. We also describe an algorithm which, after running our algorithm to count minimum cuts once, can sample an \((s,t)\) -minimum cut uniformly at random in \(O(n \log n)\) time per sample.  相似文献

We prove that for almost every Brownian motion sample, the corresponding SLE \(_\kappa \) curves parameterized by capacity exist and change continuously in the supremum norm when \(\kappa \) varies in the interval \([0,\kappa _0)\) , where \(\kappa _0=8(2-\sqrt{3})\approx 2.1\) . We estimate the \(\kappa \) -dependent modulus of continuity of the curves and also give an estimate on the modulus of continuity for the supremum norm change with \(\kappa \) .  相似文献

We deal with the following conjecture. If \(w\) is a group word and \(G\) is a finite group in which any nilpotent subgroup generated by \(w\) -values has exponent dividing \(e\) , then the exponent of the verbal subgroup \(w(G)\) is bounded in terms of \(e\) and \(w\) only. We show that this is true in the case where \(w\) is either the \(n\text{ th }\) Engel word or the word \([x^n,y_1,y_2,\ldots ,y_k]\) (Theorem A). Further, we show that for any positive integer \(e\) there exists a number \(k=k(e)\) such that if \(w\) is a word and \(G\) is a finite group in which any nilpotent subgroup generated by products of \(k\) values of the word \(w\) has exponent dividing \(e\) , then the exponent of the verbal subgroup \(w(G)\) is bounded in terms of \(e\) and \(w\) only (Theorem B).  相似文献

Let \(R\) be a finite chain ring with \(|R|=q^m\) , \(R/{{\mathrm{Rad}}}R\cong \mathbb {F}_q\) , and let \(\Omega ={{\mathrm{PHG}}}({}_RR^n)\) . Let \(\tau =(\tau _1,\ldots ,\tau _n)\) be an integer sequence satisfying \(m=\tau _1\ge \tau _2\ge \cdots \ge \tau _n\ge 0\) . We consider the incidence matrix of all shape \(\varvec{m}^s=(\underbrace{m,\ldots ,m}_s)\) versus all shape \(\tau \) subspaces of \(\Omega \) with \(\varvec{m}^s\preceq \tau \preceq \varvec{m}^{n-s}\) . We prove that the rank of \(M_{\varvec{m}^s,\tau }(\Omega )\) over \(\mathbb {Q}\) is equal to the number of shape \(\varvec{m}^s\) subspaces. This is a partial analog of Kantor’s result about the rank of the incidence matrix of all \(s\) dimensional versus all \(t\) dimensional subspaces of \({{\mathrm{PG}}}(n,q)\) . We construct an example for shapes \(\sigma \) and \(\tau \) for which the rank of \(M_{\sigma ,\tau }(\Omega )\) is not maximal.  相似文献
