The mean displacement moments for the strong field trapping model are calculated. Their asymptotic behaviour is Xn(t) (Vefft)n, where Veff is an effective drift velocity. This is in sharp contrast with the weak field case, for which Xn(t) tn/3. The mean survival (first passage) time and the upstream and downstream trapping probabilities are also obtained.  相似文献

Searches for permanent electric dipole moments of particles, nuclei, atoms and molecules offer an extraordinary discovery potential to new mechanisms of CP violation beyond those incorporated in the standard electroweak model. The electric dipole moments induced by speculative scenarios, on different physical systems, require a complementary approach to pave the way to the fundamental CP-violating mechanisms. New avenues presently being explored in order to improve the experimental sensitivities include projects that consider the trapping of neutral particles, the confinement of charged particles in storage rings as well as the use of radioactive nuclei.  相似文献

We discuss Bose-Einstein condensation in a trapped gas of bosonic particles interacting dominantly via dipole-dipole forces. We find that in this case the mean-field interparticle interaction and, hence, the stability diagram are governed by the trapping geometry. Possible physical realizations include ultracold heteronuclear molecules, or atoms with laser induced electric dipole moments.  相似文献

Optical trapping and magnetic trapping are common micromanipulation techniques for controlling colloids including micro‐ and nanoparticles. Combining these two manipulation strategies allows a larger range of applied forces and decoupled control of rotation and translation; each of which are beneficial properties for many applications including force spectroscopy and advanced manufacturing. However, optical trapping and magnetic trapping have conflicting material requirements inhibiting the combination of these methodologies. In this paper, anisotropic microscaled particles capable of being simultaneously controlled by optical and magnetic trapping are synthesized using a glancing angle deposition (GLAD) technique. The anisotropic alignment of dielectric and ferromagnetic materials limits the optical scattering from the metallic components which typically prevents stable optical trapping in three dimensions. Compared to the current state of the art, the benefits of this approach are twofold. First, the composite structure allows larger volumes of ferromagnetic material so that larger magnetic moments may be applied without inhibiting the stability of optical trapping. Second, the robustness of the synthesis process is greatly improved. The dual optical and magnetic functionality of the synthesized colloids is demonstrated by simultaneously optically translating and magnetically rotating a magnetic GLAD particle using a custom designed optomagnetic trapping system.  相似文献

To gain a physical insight into the radiation effect on nanowires(NWs), the time resolved photoluminescence(TRPL)technique is used to investigate the carrier dynamic behaviors in GaAs/AlGaAs core–shell NWs before and after 1-MeV proton irradiation with fluences ranging from 1.0 × 10~(12) cm~(-2) to 3.0 × 10~(13) cm~(-2). It is found that the degradations of spectral peak intensity and minority carrier lifetime show similar trends against irradiation fluence, which is closely related to the displacement defects induced by irradiation. We also find that the proton irradiation-induced defects behave as Shockley–Read–Hall(SRH) recombination center trapping free carriers. Finally, the defect concentration could be estimated through measuring the minority carrier lifetime.  相似文献

Recently, there have been great interest and advancement in the field of laser cooling and magneto-optical trapping of molecules. The rich internal structure of molecules naturally lends themselves to extensive and exciting applications. In this paper, the radical~(138)Ba~(19) F, as a promising candidate for laser cooling and magneto-optical trapping, is discussed in detail.The highly diagonal Franck–Condon factors between the X~2Σ~+_(1/2)and A~2Π_(1/2) states are first confirmed with three different methods. Afterwards, with the effective Hamiltonian approach and irreducible tensor theory, the hyperfine structure of the X~2Σ~+_(1/2)state is calculated accurately. A scheme for laser cooling is given clearly. Besides, the Zeeman effects of the upper(A~2Π_(1/2)) and lower(X~2Σ~+_(1/2)) levels are also studied, and their respective g factors are obtained under a weak magnetic field.Its large g factor of the upper state A~2Π_(1/2) is advantageous for magneto-optical trapping. Finally, by studying Stark effect of Ba F in the X~2Σ~+_(1/2), we investigate the dependence of the internal effective electric field on the applied electric field. It is suggested that such a laser-cooled Ba F is also a promising candidate for precision measurement of electron electric dipole moment.  相似文献

Lead oxide(Pb O), which plays the key roles in a range of research fields, has received a great deal of attention. Owing to the large density of electronic states and heavy atom Pb including in Pb O, the excited states of the molecule have not been well studied. In this work, high level multireference configuration interaction calculations on the low-lying states of Pb O have been carried out by utilizing the relativistic effective core potential. The effects of the core-valence correlation correction, the Davidson modification, and the spin–orbital coupling on the electronic structure of the Pb O molecule are estimated. The potential energy curves of 18 Λ-S states correlated to the lowest dissociation limit(Pb(~3P_g) + O(~3P_g)) are reported. The calculated spectroscopic parameters of the electronic states below 30000 cm~(-1), for instance, X~1Σ~+, 1~3Σ~+,and 1~3Σ~-, and their spin–orbit coupling interaction, are compared with the experimental results, and good agreements are derived. The dipole moments of the 18 Λ-S states are computed with the configuration interaction method, and the calculated dipole moments of X~1Σ~+and 1~3Σ~+are consistent with the previous experimental results. The transition dipole moments from 1~1Π, 2~1Π, and 2~Σ to X~1Σ~+and other singlet excited states are estimated. The radiative lifetime of several low-lying vibrational levels of 1~1Π, 2~1Π, and 2~1Σ~+ states are evaluated.  相似文献

In the present paper, we investigate the kaon twist-3 distribution amplitudes (DAs) φp,σK within the QCD background field approach. The SUf(3)-breaking effects are studied in detail under a systematical way, especially the sum rules for the moments of φp,σK are obtained by keeping all the mass terms in the s-quark propagator consistently. After adding all the uncertainties in quadrature, the first two Gegenbauler moments of φp,σK are aK,p1 (1 GeV) = -0.376-0.148+0.103, aK,p2(1 GeV) = 0.701-0.491+0.481, aK,σ1 (1 GeV) = -0.160-0.074+0.051, and aK,σ2(1 GeV) = 0.369-0.149+0.163, respectively. Their normalization parameters μKp|1 m GeV = 1.188-0.043+0.039 GeV and μKσ|1 m GeV = 1.021-0.055+0.036 GeV. A detailed discussion on the properties of φp,σK moments shows that the higher-order s-quark mass terms can indeed provide sizable contributions. Furthermore, based on the newly obtained moments, a model for the kaon twist-3 wavefunction Ψp,σK(x,k⊥) with a better end-point behavior is constructed, which shall be useful for perturbative QCD calculations. As a byproduct, we make a discussion on the properties of the pion twist-3 DAs.  相似文献

The static quadrupole moments of the first excited Jπ = 2+ states in 20Ne and 22Ne and the reduced electric quadrupole transition probabilities of these states to the ground states were measured via projectile Coulomb excitation. The quadrupole moments were deduced from the shapes of γ-ray angular distributions. The results are: Q(20Ne, 2+) = −0.20±0.05 b and Q(22Ne, 2+) = −0.11±0.05 b. The transition strengths were deduced from yield measurements and by comparison with the yields of target γ-rays. The results are: B(E2; 0+ → 2+, 20Ne) = 0.037±0.003 e2 · b2 and B(E2; 0+ → 2+, 22Ne) = 0.025±0.002 e2· b2. The results for the transition strengths are consistent with the results of accurate timing methods and resolve discrepancies between previous experiments. The results for the quadrupole moments are consistent with earlier measurements, although the mean values we obtain are slightly lower. The experimental measurements are compared with theoretical predictions and a detailed discussion is given of corrections to this type of reorientation experiment.  相似文献

The dynamics of an overdamped Brownian particle in a thermal bath that contains a dilute solution of active particles is studied. The particle moves in a harmonic potential and experiences Poisson shot-noise kicks with specified amplitude distribution due to moving active particles in the bath. From the Fokker–Planck equation for the particle dynamics, the stationary solution for the displacement distribution is derived along with the moments characterizing mean, variance, skewness, and kurtosis, as well as finite-time first and second moments. An effective temperature is also computed through the fluctuation–dissipation theorem and show that equipartition theorem holds for all zero-mean kick distributions, including those leading to non-Gaussian stationary statistics. For the case of Gaussian-distributed active kicks, a re-entrant behavior from non-Gaussian to Gaussian stationary states and a heavy-tailed leptokurtic distribution across a wide range of parameters are found as seen in recent experimental studies. Further analysis reveals statistical signatures of the irreversible dynamics of the particle displacement in terms of the time asymmetry of cross-correlation functions. Fruits of the work is the development of an compact inference scheme that may allow experimentalists to extract the rate and moments of underlying shot-noise solely from the statistics the particle position.  相似文献

The reorientation effect in Coulomb excitation was used to measure the static quadrupole moments of the first 2+ states in 126Te and 128Te. The particle-γ coincidence technique using a large NaI(Tl) crystal was employed to measure relative excitation probabilities at backward and forward projectile scattering angles. The Winther-de Boer multiple Coulomb excitation program was used to analyze the data. The influence of the deorientation effect was also determined. For positive interference via the second 2+ state the extracted quadrupole moments of the first 2+ states are; −0.20±0.09 b and -0.24±0.08 b for 126Te and 128Te respectively. The quadrupole moments of the first 2+ states of122,124,126,128,130Te determined by different techniques are in excellent agreement with one another. The values are compared with recent theoretical calculations.  相似文献

This review article describes the trapping of charged particles. The main principles of electromagnetic confinement of various species from elementary particles to heavy atoms are briefly described. The preparation and manipulation with trapped single particles, as well as methods of frequency measurements, providing unprecedented precision, are discussed. Unique applications of Penning traps in fundamental physics are presented. Ultra-precise trap-measurements of masses and magnetic moments of elementary particles (electrons, positrons, protons and antiprotons) confirm CPT-conservation, and allow accurate determination of the fine-structure constant α and other fundamental constants. This together with the information on the unitarity of the quark-mixing matrix, derived from the trap-measurements of atomic masses, serves for assessment of the Standard Model of the physics world. Direct mass measurements of nuclides targeted to some advanced problems of astrophysics and nuclear physics are also presented.  相似文献

Thermoluminescence emission spectra of CaF2:Tm (TLD-300) samples irradiated with 48 keV X-rays 60Co gamma rays, 4.5 MeV alpha particles and 15 MeV neutrons were measured in the 300–650 K temperature region. Seven emission bands were observed of which the one in the infrared (at 803 nm) is very intense. The emission bands can be assigned to 1D, 1G, 3F and 3H levels characteristic for Tm3+ de-excitation in a cubic field. All observed lines in the spectrum are due to 4f-4f transitions. The spectra undergo remarkable changes in intensity when the temperature is raised from room temperature up to 350°C, while the number of the emission bands remains constant. The glow curve structure is both dependent on emission wavelength and the type of radiation. Evidence has been found that the trapping structures responsible for glow peaks 2 and 3 alter under the influence of high LET () radiation. For glow peaks 4–6 the filling of the traps alters with the type of radiation. The observations can be explained assuming a TL process involving several hole trapping centres but with only one luminescent centre (Tm3+) active at all temperatures.  相似文献

The kinetics of aggregation in a monolayer of dipolar particles are studied using stochastic dynamics computer simulations. Transient concentrations of end defects (at low density) and Y-shaped defects (at high density) clearly exceed those at equilibrium. Although very large dipole moments are expected to disfavor such defects at equilibrium, it is found that the transient defect concentrations increase with increasing dipole moment. The results suggest that the conditions for defect-driven condensation--as proposed by Tlusty and Safran [T. Tlusty and S. A. Safran, Science 290, 1328 (2000)]--could be met by kinetic trapping, giving rise to a metastable phase transition between isotropic fluid phases.  相似文献

The low-lying potential energy curves of SeO molecule are computed by means of ab initio multireference configuration interaction technique, taking into account relativistic (scalar plus spin-orbit coupling) effects. The spectroscopic constants of Ω states for X3Σ-, a1Δ, b1Σ+, A3Π, A'3Δ, and A"3Σ+ states are obtained, and they are in good accordance with available experimental values. The Franck-Condon factors and transition dipole moments to the ground state are computed, and the natural radiative lifetimes of low-lying Ω states are theoretically obtained. Comparisons of the natural lifetimes of Ω states with previous experimental results and those of isovalent TeO molecule are made.  相似文献

The possibility of existance of a super-crystalline (Wigner) phase in a semimetal or impurity semiconductor film placed in a high magnetic field, is discussed and a comparison is made with a crystal in a three-dimensional specimen.

Such a phase exists in a succession of magnetic field or particle density intervals. The vibrational spectrum depends on magnetic field, while the bind energy is only density-dependent. The mean-square displacement x2 of the particles in the lattice sites are also independent on the magnetic field over a wide temperature range.  相似文献

A new semiclassical method is presented for evaluating zeros of wave functions. In this method, locating zeros of the wave functions of Schrodinger equation is converted to finding roots of a polynomial. The coefficients of this polynomial are evaluated using WKB and semi quantum action variable methods. For certain potentials WKB expressions for moments are obtained exactly. Almost explicit formulae for moments are obtained for the potential V(x)=x^N. Examples are given to illustrate both methods. Using semi quantum action variable method, complex zeros of the wave functions of the PT symmetric complex system V(x)=x^4 iAx are obtained. Multiple optical trapping with high-order axially symmetric polarized beams(ASPBs) is studied theoretically,and a scheme based on far-field optical trapping with ASPBs is first proposed.The focused fields and the corresponding gradient forces on Rayleigh dielectric particles are calculated for the scheme.The calculated results indicate that multiple ultra-small focused spots can be achieved,and multiple nanometer-sized particles with refractive index higher than the ambient can be trapped simultaneously near these focused spots,which are expected to enhance the capabilities of traditional optical trapping systems and provide a solution for massive multiple optical trapping of nanometer-sized particles.  相似文献

光镊技术被广泛应用于捕获和操纵微纳米尺寸颗粒,主要包括捕获水中透明性颗粒和空气中吸光性颗粒两种类型.本文用激光束照射毛玻璃散射片,透射光经透镜会聚后在透镜的像平面附近产生了主观散斑场.该散斑场为空间分布,包含大量的亮斑和暗斑.大量由亮斑包围的暗斑如同一个个空间能量陷阱,被用来捕获大量的吸光性墨粉颗粒,被捕获颗粒的尺寸约2—8μm,密度约1—2 g/cm3.采用红外显微镜拍摄到空间散斑场捕获颗粒的红外像,红外图像显示被捕获颗粒吸光后温度升高,证实了空间散斑场捕获吸光性颗粒的机理为光泳力原理.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of CsVF4 have been studied by means of thermal diffusivity and neutron diffraction. The antiferromagnetic transition appearing at about 43 K is found to be of Ising spin order of V3+ magnetic moments which are oriented along the c-axis having the order of G-type. By applying a magnetic field vertically to the c-plane, it is also found that the magnetic moments of V3+ are re-oriented so as to be anti-parallel in each two-dimensional sheet of VF6 octahedra and parallel between the network with the result that a ferromagnetic component appears.  相似文献
