A detail study on the continuity between cut-wire pair and continuous wire in combined-structure metamaterials operating at the microwave frequency regime is reported. By using numerical simulations and microwave experiments, we investigated the effect of the width and position of the continuous wire relative to the cut-wire pair on the electromagnetic response of a combined structure. It was found that these parameters play an important role in determining whether the left-handed (LH) behavior is obtained or not. In addition, we also studied the influence of lattice constant on the LH behavior of combined structure. Our results showed that the LH behavior is strongly dependent on the lattice constant in the E direction. However, it remains unchanged according to the lattice constant in the H direction. A good coincidence between the measurements and the numerical simulations was shown. It is expected that this work will allow us to optimize the appropriate characteristic parameters even without avoiding the trial-and-error fabrications.  相似文献

本文将磁谐振环-金属线共面结构与磁谐振环相结合, 提出了一种基于斜三角开口对环结构的新型宽频带低耗左手材料结构. 该结构能产生两个磁谐振, 实现两个双负频段. 研究表明, 调节单元尺寸可使两个双负频段移动重合形成一个宽频带. 理论分析、仿真和测试结果均表明, 本文提出的新形结构在9.3—13.2 GHz频段同时具有负的磁导率和负的介电常数, 相对带宽34.7%, 损耗性能系数347.9, 实现了宽带低耗左手材料. 其研究结果对多频段、宽带低耗左手材料的设计具有重要的指导意义.  相似文献

The design of the metamaterial that can exhibit negative refraction at two frequency bands is presented. The components of this metamaterial are cut wire pairs and continuous wires. The cut wire pairs structure in our sample can achieve the magnetic resonance at two frequency bands by appropriately designing the cut wire dimension. Through numerical simulation, the transmission property of the proposed dual band negative index metamaterial is investigated and its result shows that with the introduction of continuous wires, the stop bands for cut wire pairs (permeability μ<0) and the frequency band for continuous wires (permittivity ε<0) components would overlap and lead to the appearance of pass bands near the two magnetic resonance frequency bands. Its electromagnetic properties are then retrieved to demonstrate that the dual band left-hand behavior can be obtained in our sample structure. It is believed that our approach will be effective to make this kind of dual band negative refractive metamaterial based on the multiple magnetic resonances work at optical frequency.  相似文献

We study the optical properties of metamaterials made from cut-wire pairs or plate pairs. We obtain a more pronounced optical response for arrays of plate pairs, a geometry that also eliminates the undesirable polarization anisotropy of the cut-wire pairs. The measured optical spectra agree with simulations, revealing negative magnetic permeability in the range of telecommunications wavelengths. Thus nanoscopic plate pairs might serve as an alternative to the established split-ring resonator design.  相似文献

基于严格电磁场理论,给出了微型谐振环形和Fishnet结构体内太赫兹波的严格表达式,并利用电磁场的边界条件分析了太赫兹波在微型谐振环形和Fishnet结构体内空间分布的增强效应。数值模拟结果表明:谐振环金属条附近的电场大于磁场,金属条附近的电场相对其他区域明显要强得多,开口处表现更为突出,太赫兹波在Fishnet结构体内电磁场的峰位处电场和磁场分布关于x对称;电场的极值出现在大十字架的上下四个角,而磁场的极值则出现在小十字架的上下两端点。同时用电磁场传输线理论对该现象作出一定的物理解释。收稿日期:; 修订日期:  相似文献

We present the design of a multiband left-handed three-dimensional (3D) metamaterial based on improved fishnet structure at terahertz frequencies. The design realizes a three-dimensional material by mechanical stacking of multiple layers. The electromagnetic properties of the metamaterial have been investigated by numerical simulation. The results show that simultaneously negative values of permittivity, permeability and refractive index are found around the frequencies of 0.73, 0.85 and 1.12 THz for the electromagnetic wave normal incidence. The proposed metamaterial with independent polarization and compact effect offers a way to develop THz 3D materials and devices suitable for multifrequencies.  相似文献

We numerically and experimentally investigate a planar metamaterial that is composed of connected cut-wire pairs and continuous wires operating at 21 GHz. The characterization was performed by using the effective medium theory. The existence of negative refraction is concluded from the transmission data of four structures: cut-wire pairs, shorted cut-wire pairs, composite metamaterial, and shorted composite metamaterial.  相似文献

We present a detailed study on the artificial magnetism of high-permittivity dielectric spherical shell array and the negative refraction behavior of the composite consisting of dielectric spherical shells and metal wire lattice. The spherical shell array in cubic lattice arrangement can exhibit an isotropic negative magnetism when excited into magnetic dipole resonance. When the dielectric spherical shell and metal wire lattice are combined in a body-centered cubic structure, full-wave simulations show that the bulk metamaterial with this structure can exhibit a negative refraction behavior. It is shown that artificial magnetic response can originate from differently structured dielectric elements, similarly to the conventional metamaterial constituents based on metal resonance structures.  相似文献

We have designed a low-loss magnetic metamaterial with double-fishnet structures of silver and gold operating at near-infrared wavelength. A Particle swarm optimization algorithm was employed to optimize the geometry dimensions of Ag–dielectric–Au unit cell. The Ag–Au bimetallic fishnet produces a maximum figure of merit value of 21, transmission as high as 62%, moderate negative permeability Re(μ) of −0.5, and Re(n) of −1 at 1463 nm. The negative permeability Re(μ) reaches minimum value of −5 at 1573 nm, where the antisymmetric charge distribution in fishnet metamaterials was observed. The antisymmetric plasmonic resonance at 1573 nm is a mixed mode of asymmetric magnetic dipole and symmetric electrical quadrupole in Ag–MgF2–Au fishnet structures.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate a thin single metal layer covered on sub-wavelength dielectric grating. Numerical simulations show that the structure has negative index in the normal direction at visible frequencies. Structural investigation demonstrates that the simultaneous negative permittivity and permeability at an overlapping frequency range are attributed to the metal cut-wire and “U”-shaped structure disassembled from the structure, respectively. Furthermore, parametric exploration for practical fabrication is presented.  相似文献

By exploiting the concept of internal surface plasmon polariton (I-SPP) resonances, which appear at nonsingle metallic film stacks, we have designed a metamaterial showing a negative effective index within a large frequency bandwidth. The designed structure consists of an arrangement of several fishnet layers. By properly adjusting the lattice and the thickness of the dielectric slab of the fishnet, an I-SPP mode can be excited at a certain frequency, giving rise to a negative permeability. Thus, when combining several fishnet layers, each one configured to excite an I-SPP at a slightly different frequency, the coupling among the fishnet layers will cause a plasmon hybridization effect that enables us to extend the negative-index bandwidth.  相似文献

理论和实验研究表明,开口谐振环(SRRs)中可以激励磁谐振从而实现负磁导率.通过在SRRs结构中引入与其开口边平行的金属短杆设计并制备了新的磁谐振单元,采用波导法系统研究了短杆对SRRs和左手材料的微波透射特性以及左手效应的影响.实验和数值模拟表明:金属短杆和SRRs开口边形成附加电容,导致SRRs开口电容增大从而引起谐振频率降低.随短杆长度l和短杆与SRRs间距d的增大,SRRs谐振频率也随之减小和增加.短杆的加入不影响SRRs的负磁导率特性,改变短杆与SRRs间距d< 关键词: 开口谐振环 金属短杆 调控 左手材料  相似文献

依据Landau-Lifshitz阻尼项和Gilbert阻尼项的磁矩转动方程,提出统一形式的磁化率张量表达式.基于等效磁导率将非晶丝中各向异性的电磁场求解问题转化为等效的各向同性问题,进而分析了套在绝缘磁环或导电磁环中非晶丝的阻抗.采用基于有限元的数值方法仿真磁环中非晶丝的阻抗,仿真结果验证了理论分析结论.理论分析和仿真实验均表明,外磁体的附加阻抗将严重降低阻抗变化率,破坏巨磁阻抗特性.为此,提出采用回路形式降低附加阻抗的方法,并基于仿真实验验证了该方法的有效性. 关键词: 巨磁阻抗效应 非晶材料 Maxwell方程 有限元  相似文献

<正>A method of fabricating dual-band left-handed metematerials(LHMs) is investigated numerically and experimentally by single-sided tree-like fractals.The resulting structure features multiband magnetic resonances and two electric resonances.By appropriately adjusting the dimensions,two left-handed(LH) bands with simultaneous negative permittivity and permeability are engineered and are validated by full-wave eigenmode analysis and measurement as well in the microwave frequency range.To study the multi-resonant mechanism in depth,the LHM is analysed from three different perspectives of field distribution analysis,circuit model analysis,and geometrical parameters evaluation.The derived formulae are consistent with all simulated results and resulting electromagnetic phenomena,indicating the effectiveness of the established theory.The method provides an alternative to the design of multi-band LHM and has the advantage of not requiring two individual resonant particles and electrically continuous wires,which in turn facilitates planar design and considerably simplifies the fabrication.  相似文献

为深入了解电磁超材料中物质间相互作用关系,理论分析了金属导体线阵列宏结构嵌入单负磁导率媒质中时其等效介电常数的变化特性。数值计算和电磁仿真方法相结合,讨论了单负磁导率媒质和单负介电常数媒质的相互作用关系,提出了减小其相互作用的解决方法。仿真结果显示:将金属线阵列直接嵌入到单负磁导率媒质中时,电磁超材料传输特性在整个频段内为传输禁带;将金属线裹附一层绝缘材料后,传输禁带变为传输通带,这表明金属线阵列和单负磁导率媒质之间必须加入一种绝缘材料才能合成双负的电磁超材料。  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the electromagnetic surface waves localized at the interface of the homogeneous dielectric medium and a semi-infinite one-dimensional photonic crystal (1D PC), theoretically. The semi-infinite 1D PC is made of alternative layers of left-handed (LH) and right-handed (RH) materials in the presence of a thin nonlinear cap layer. We consider magnetic permeability and electric permittivity of LH layers being dispersive and non-dispersive. We used an analytical direct matching procedure within the Kronig-Penny model to analyze the dispersion behavior of surface waves with controllable localization. It is shown that the thin nonlinear cap layer acts as a tool to change the backward surface waves to forward ones and vice versa and it plays an important role on the localization of them. Also we show that when the LH layers are chosen dispersive, negative dispersion of surface waves are obtained in a wide range of radiation angle and frequency, and we propose an approach to calculate the applied electric field intensity that leads to switching of surface waves from backward to forward and creating a surface mode with maximum localization.  相似文献

We report an alternative method of designing a new metamaterial with left handed (LH) characteristics over multi-band (MB) frequencies at microwave frequency regime. The resultant LH metamaterial (LHM) consisting of a single-sided tree-shaped fractal structure features triple magnetic resonances and one electric resonance apart from the lower metal plasma response, which is responsible for the three bands of negative refraction. The multi-resonant mechanism has been systematically studied to account for all electromagnetic behaviors, and capacitor–inductor circuit models are put forward for quantitative analysis. The LHM is balanced in the fundamental passband when only one layer is utilized, whereas the balanced condition is slightly broken when a collection of sub-wavelength cells are cascaded. The negative-zero-positive refraction of the fundamental LH band and the negative refraction of the higher LH band have been numerically validated by a prism-like LHM. For demonstration, a three-layer LHM slab sample is fabricated and measured. Consistent numerical and experimental results are observed. The method not requiring individual resonant particles and electrically continuous wires paves the way for a new route to compact MB LHM design.  相似文献

通过实验及仿真研究了基于C环的新型八边形开口谐振环金属线复合周期结构左手材料.以金属铜八边形谐振环(SRRs)为基本单元的周期结构负磁导率材料,与闭口环(CSRRs)结果对比发现八边形谐振环能产生很好的谐振效果即能产生负磁导率;复合结构仿真结果显示,八边形谐振环金属线复合结构实现负折射具有可行性.设计、制作并实验和仿真研究了两种尺寸的八边形谐振环金属线复合周期结构左手材料,实验结果显示,分别在9.8—15GHz和9.5—15GHz出现良好负折射效应,表明小尺寸材料负折射频段较宽但整体能量透过率较小.通过与尺寸相近的传统C环样品实验对比发现八边形样品损耗较大,但其负折射区域能量分布比例较大,具有一定的优越性.该研究对新型周期结构左手材料的研究、设计和研制具有重要的科学意义,在国防、通信等领域也具有广阔的应用前景.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of dielectric-spacer thickness on the left-handed behavior of a symmetric fishnet-like metamaterial working at microwave frequency. The left-handed behavior was demonstrated and characterized by the standard retrieval procedure. The thickness of spacer was varied in order to examine the electromagnetic response of the fishnet structure. It was found that the changed thickness can cause different pictures of the left-handed behavior based on the electric-magnetic correlation.  相似文献

We report true left-handed (LH) behavior in a composite metamaterial consisting of a periodically arranged split ring resonator (SRR) and wire structures. We demonstrate the magnetic resonance of the SRR structure by comparing the transmission spectra of SRRs with those of closed SRRs. We have confirmed experimentally that the effective plasma frequency of the LH material composed of SRRs and wires is lower than the plasma frequency of the wires. A well-defined LH transmission band with a peak value of -1.2 dB (-0.3 dB/cm) was obtained. The experimental results agree extremely well with the theoretical calculations.  相似文献
