Abstract

An element x of a group G is called Q-central if there exists a central chief factor H/K of G such that x ∈ H\K. It is proved that a finite group G is p-nilpotent if and only if every element in G p  \Φ(G p ) is Q-central. We will adapt Doerk and Hawkes [Doerk, K., Hawkes, T. (1992). Finite Soluble Groups. An endomorphism h of a group G is said to be strong whenever for every congruence θ on G, (x, y) ∈ θ implies (h(x), h(y)) ∈ θ for every x, y ∈ G. A group G is said to have the strong endomorphism kernel property if every congruence on G is the kernel of a strong endomorphism. In this note, we study the strong endomorphism kernel property in the class of Abelian groups. In particular, we show that a finite Abelian group has the strong endomorphism kernel property if and only if it is cyclic.  相似文献

The nilpotent graph of a group G is a simple graph whose vertex set is G?nil(G), where nil(G) = {y ∈ G | ? x, y ? is nilpotent ? x ∈ G}, and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if ? x, y ? is nilpotent. In this article, we show that the collection of finite non-nilpotent groups whose nilpotent graphs have the same genus is finite, derive explicit formulas for the genus of the nilpotent graphs of some well-known classes of finite non-nilpotent groups, and determine all finite non-nilpotent groups whose nilpotent graphs are planar or toroidal.  相似文献

For a finite group G, let T(G) denote a set of primes such that a prime p belongs to T(G) if and only if p is a divisor of the index of some maximal subgroup of G. It is proved that if G satisfies any one of the following conditions: (1) G has a p-complement for each p∈T(G); (2)│T(G)│= 2: (3) the normalizer of a Sylow p-subgroup of G has prime power index for each odd prime p∈T(G); then G either is solvable or G/Sol(G)≌PSL(2, 7) where Sol(G) is the largest solvable normal subgroup of G.  相似文献

A proper subgroup A of a finite group G is said to be primitive or meet-irreducible if there is a unique subgroup A0 ≤ G such that A is a maximal subgroup of A0. In this case we say that |A0: A| is the small index of A and denote it by |G: A|0. In this article, we study the influence of meet-irreducible subgroups and their small indexes on the structure of G. In particular, we prove that a finite group G is supersoluble if and only if |G: A|0 = |G: B|0 for any two meet-irreducible subgroups A and B of G with AG = BG.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to answer an open problem proposed by Matlis on modules with the finite exchange property. The problem is: Let {M i | iI} be an indexed family of indecomposable injective modules and M a direct sum of M i , i.e. M = ⊕{M i | iI} and N a summand of M. Is N a direct sum of indecomposable injective modules, i.e. N = ⊕{M j |jJ, J ? I}? The answer to this problem is affirmative for module M with finite exchange property.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and H ≤ G. The subgroup H is called: S-permutable in G if HP = PH for all Sylow subgroups P of G; S-permutably embedded in G if each Sylow subgroup of H is also a Sylow subgroup of some S-permutable subgroup of G.

Let H be a subgroup of a group G. Then we say that H is SQ-supplemented in G if G has a subgroup T and an S-permutably embedded subgroup C ≤ H such that HT = G and TH ≤ C.

We study the structure of G under the assumption that some subgroups of G are SQ-supplemented in G. Some known results are generalized.  相似文献

Abstract

A Hughes cover for exponent p(pa prime number) of a finite group is a union of subgroups whose (non-empty) complement consists of elements of order p. A proper Hughes subgroup is an instance of a Hughes cover; and its parent group is soluble by a well-known result of Hughes and Thompson. More generally an earlier result of the authors shows that a group with a Hughes cover of fewer than psubgroups is soluble. This article treats the insoluble groups having a Hughes cover for exponent pwith exactly psubgroups: the almost simple groups with this property form a restricted class of projective special linear groups.  相似文献
