We report the geometry-optimized total energies and bond distances for the closo-carborane isomers 3,5-C2B6H8, 1,7-C2B7H9, and 1,2-C2B7H9 calculated by the ab initio SCF MO method using the STO -3G basis set. Relative energies are compared with those of the other carborane isomers in the 8- and 9- atom classes. These results complete the set of calculations at the same level of theory for all deltahedral carborane isomers except for those of the 11-atom class.  相似文献

Isoelectronic molecules regarding B6H10, 2-CB5H9, 2,3-C2B4H8, 2,3,4-C3B3H7, and 2,3,4,5-C4B2H6 are studied by the density functional B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) method and the electron propagator theory in the partial third-order quasiparticale approximation, as well as the extrapolated calculation with the coupled-cluster CCSD(T) theory. The calculated ionization potentials are in good agreement with the experimental data from photoelectron spectroscopy. Valence structures are characterized with natural orbital bond (NBO) theory, exhibiting the multiple three-center two-electron bonds B-H-B, B-B-B, C-B-B, B-C-B, and C-B-C, and chemical bond rearrangements in the cations.  相似文献

The tetranion ligand η7-C2B10H124− has been observed for the first time in 1 , which was obtained from the reaction of o-C2B10H12 with excess K metal followed by treatment with UCl4. As shown in the picture (without K cations and coordinated THF molecules), 1 is a centrosymmetric dimer with a bent sandwich structure.  相似文献

The molecular structures of two carbaboranes, closo-2,3-C(2)B(9)H(11) and nido-2,9-C(2)B(9)H(13), were determined experimentally for the first time using gas-phase electron diffraction (GED). For closo-2,3-C(2)B(9)H(11), a model with C(2)(v)() symmetry was refined to give C-B bond distances ranging 158.3-167.0 pm and B-B distances ranging 177.4-200.0 pm. The structure of nido-2,9-C(2)B(9)H(13) was refined using a model with C(s)() symmetry to give C-B bond lengths ranging 160.3-171.9 pm and B-B lengths ranging 173.0-196.1 pm. Ab initio computations (up to MP2/6-311+G) were also carried out on these and the related nido-7,8-C(2)B(9)H(13), which was not sufficiently stable to allow determination of its molecular structure by GED.  相似文献

The neutral azatricarbaborane 7-t-Bu-arachno-7,1,5,12-NC(3)B(8)H(12), isolated as a side product (yield 2%) from the new synthesis of 7-t-BuNH2-nido-7,8,9-C(3)B(8)H(10) (yield 70%), can be easily converted to the first parent representatives of the 10-vertex nido family of tricarbaboranes, [5,6,9-C(3)B(7)H(10)]- and 5,6,9-C(3)B(7)H(11).  相似文献

Reaction of chlorodiphenylphosphine with (η5-C5H5)(η7-C7H6Li)Ti gave (η5-C5H5)[η7-C7H6P(C6H5)2]Ti in good yields. This novel phosphinetitanium (II) derivative displaced one carbonyl of metal carbonyl complexes [Ni(CO)4, Fe(CO)5 and Mo(CO)6] to afford heterobimetallic complexes containing low valent titanium, and behaved as a poor electron-donating phosphine.  相似文献

We have analyzed the electronic populations of chemical bonds and atoms in the highly symmetric closo-carboranes 1,5-C2B3H5 (I) and 1,6-C2B4H6 (II). The overlap populations XY are compared with the corresponding Mulliken indices. We note substantial nonadditivity of the populations XY for closed three-center bonds BCB' and the closeness of the total overlap population t to its maximum value. We have established the localization of the natural MOs on the bonds CH, BH, and BCB', and for molecule I also on the CBC' bonds. The effects of conjugation of bonds in the closo-carborane polyhedron are apparent in the linear dependence of these MOs. The corresponding nonorthogonal hybrid AOs of carbon and boron are also linearly dependent. Cavity ringdown spectra of the A-X electronic transition of the 1-propyl and 2-propyl peroxy radicals are reported. Spectroscopic assignments are facilitated by implementing several production mechanisms, either isomer-specific or not. Assignments of specific spectral lines to particular conformers of a given isomer are suggested. Observations on the temporal decay of the various species are reported.  相似文献

The bonding problem in borazine (B3N3H6), boroxine (B3O3H3), and carborazine (B2N2C2H6) is successfully addressed through the consideration of the excited states of the constituent fragments, namely BH( ), NH( ), and CH( ). We propose the participation of resonant structures for all three species that help to explain the experimental findings. A discussion on the chemical pattern of the parental molecule benzene (C6H6) helps to make coherent the whole bonding analysis on the titled species.  相似文献

Five new paramagnetic dinuclear complexes containing [5]trovacenyl groups, (eta7-C7H7)V(eta5-C5H4-), have been prepared and characterized, including by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. As intervening spacers, ethenediyl units in the geminal and vicinal (Z)- and (E)-bridging modes as well as methanediyl and ethanediyl units have been included with the aim of studying their propensity to transmit electric and magnetic information. It is found that redox splitting of consecutive electron-transfer steps is resolved for reduction (0-->1- -->2-) only, unsaturation of the C2 bridge not being requisite, since the -CH2CH2- spacer also gives rise to a small redox splitting. Magnetic communication is quantified in terms of the exchange coupling constant J, accessible from the EPR hyperfine pattern in solution and from magnetic susceptometry in the solid state. The results obtained from these methods generally differ; this fact is not surprising in view of conformational differences in the respective states of aggregation. It is concluded that orientation-dependent mechanisms of spin-spin interactions (pi-orbital overlap, hyperconjugation) contribute extensively although, as implied by sizeable J values for -CH2- and -C2H4- linked di[5]trovacenyl groups, coupling mediated by the sigma-orbital chain must also be considered.  相似文献

The reaction between the carborane arachno-4,6-C2B7H13 (1) and PCl3 in dichloromethane in the presence of a "proton sponge" (PS = 1,8-dimethylaminonaphthalene) resulted in the isolation of the eleven-vertex nido-diphosphadicarbaboranes 7,8,9,11-P2C2B7H, (2) and 3-Cl-7,8,11-P2C2B7H, (3-Cl-2) in yields of 54 and 7%, respectively. Replacement of the PS by NEt3 in the same reaction gave diphosphadicarbaboranes 2 and 3-CI-2 together with the isomeric species nido-7,9,8,10-P2C2B7H, (3) in yields of 28, 15 and 3%, respectively. The reaction between the isomeric carborane arachno-4,5-C2B7H13 (4) and PCl3 in dichloromethane in the presence of PS gave the asymmetrical isomer, nido-7,8,9,10-P2C2B7H, (5). along with the chloro derivatives 4-Cl-7,8,9,10-P2C2B7H8 (4-Cl-5) and 11-Cl-7,8,9,10-PC2B7,H8 (11-Cl-5) (yields of 21, 1 and 13%, respectively). The structures of the chlorinated derivatives 3-Cl2 and 11 -Cl-5 were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. In addition, the structures of all compounds isolated were geometry-optimised and confirmed by comparison of experimental 11B chemical shifts with those calculated by the GIAO-SCF/II//RMP2(fc)/6-31G* method. The calculations also include the structure and 11B NMR shifts of the isomer nido-7,10,8,9-P2C2B7H9 (6) which has not yet been isolated.  相似文献
