The dynamical breaking of a generalized Yang-Mills theory is discussed. It is shown, in terms of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio mechanism, that the gauge symmetry breaking can be realized dynamically in the generalized Yang-Mills theory. The combination of the generalized Yang-Mills theory and the NJL mechanism provides a way to overcome the difficulties related to the Higgs field and the Higgs mechanism in the usual spontaneous symmetry breaking theory. 相似文献

Generalized Yang-Mills theory has a covariant derivative, which contains both vector and scalar gauge bosons. Based on this theory, we construct a strong interaction model by using the group U(4). Electromagnetic mass difference between neutral K* and charged K* has been calculated in the U(3)L×U(3)R chiral field theory of mesons. It has been revealed that the on-Abelian gauge structure of the massive Yang-Mills Lagrangian obeyed by K* plus VMD (vector meson dominance) causes the EM-mass of neutral one larger than charged one. In this paper a quantum N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory perturbed by dilaton-coupled scalars and spinor fields, is considered. The induced effective action for such a theory is calculated on a dilaton-gravitational background using the conformal anomaly found via the AdS/CFT correspondence. Considering such an effective action (using the large N method) as a quantum correction to the classical gravity action with cosmological constant, we study the effect from the dilaton on the scale factor (this corresponds to an inflationary universe without dilaton). It is shown that, depending on the initial conditions for the dilaton, the dilaton may slow down, or accelerate, the inflation process. At late times, the dilaton is decaying exponentially. Different possible cases corresponding to a dilatonic dS Universe are analyzed with respect to the equations of motion. 相似文献

We study renormalizability of a quadratic gauge-fixing choice involving gauge fields. We show that this can be renormalized
simultaneously maintaining the BRS invariance since this respects the underlying global SU(n) invariance. However, this choice, too, induces quartic ghost terms in conformity with our earlier results.

We show that General Relativity (GR) with cosmological constant may be formulated as a rather simple constrained SO(D – 1, 2) (or SO(D, 1))-Yang-Mills (YM) theory. Furthermore, the spin connections of the Cartan-Einstein formulation for GR appear as solutions of a genuine SO(D – 1,1)-YM. We also present a theory of gravity with torsion as the most natural extension of this result. The theory comes out to be strictly an YM-theory upon relaxation of a suitable constraint. This work sets out to enforce the close connection between YM theories and GR by means of an alternative construction. 相似文献

In this note we make a test of the open topological string version of the OSV conjecture in the toric Calabi-Yau manifold X = O(-3) → P^2 with background D4-branes wrapped on Lagrangian submanifolds. The Dbrahe partition function reduces to an expectation value of some inserted operators of a q-deformed Yang Mills theory living on a chain of P^1 's in the base p2 of X. At large N this partition function can be written as a sum over squares of chiral blocks, which are related to the open topological string amplitudes in the local p2 geometry with branes at both the outer and inner edges of the toric diagram.
