Reported herein is a hitherto unknown family of diiron(III)‐μ‐hydroxo bisporphyrins in which two different spin states of Fe are stabilized in a single molecular framework, although both cores have identical molecular structures. Protonation of the oxo‐bridged dimer ( 2 ) by using strong Brønsted acids, such as HI, HBF4, and HClO4, produce red μ‐hydroxo complexes with I3? ( 3 ), BF4? ( 4 ), and ClO4? ( 5 ) counterions, respectively. The X‐ray structure of the molecule reveals that the Fe? O bond length increases on going from the μ‐oxo to the hydroxo complex, whereas the Fe‐O(H)‐Fe unit becomes more bent, which results in the smallest known Fe‐O(H)‐Fe angles of 142.5(2) and 141.2(1)° for 3 and 5 , respectively. In contrast, the Fe‐O(H)‐Fe angle remains unaltered in 4 from the corresponding μ‐oxo complex. The close approach of two rings in a molecule results in unequal core deformations in 3 and 4 , whereas the cores are deformed almost equally but to a lesser extent in 5 . Although 3 was found to have nearly high‐spin and admixed intermediate Fe spin states in cores I and II, respectively, two admixed intermediate spin states were observed in 4 . Even though the cores have identical chemical structures, crucial bond parameters, such as the Fe? Np, Fe? O, and Fe???Ctp bond lengths and the ring deformations, are all different between the two FeIII centers in 3 and 4 , which leads to an eventual stabilization of two different spin states of Fe in each molecule. In contrast, the two Fe centers in 5 are equivalent and assigned to high and intermediate spin states in the solid and solution states, respectively. The spin states are thus found to be dependent on the counterions and can also be reversibly interconverted. Upon protonation, the strong antiferromagnetic coupling in the μ‐oxo dimer (J, ?126.6 cm?1) is attenuated to almost zero in the μ‐hydroxo complex with the I3? counterion, whereas the values of J are ?36 and ?42 cm?1, respectively, for complexes with BF4? and ClO4? counterions. 相似文献

A hitherto unknown family of diiron(III)–μ‐fluoro bisporphyrins has been synthesized and structurally characterized. Fluoride abstraction from SbF6? and BF4? resulted in the synthesis of the μ‐fluoro complexes of ethane‐ and ethene‐bridged diiron(III) bisporphyrins. Two such complexes were structurally characterized, which revealed a single fluoro bridge between two iron centers with a remarkably bent Fe‐F‐Fe unit. Although isoelectronic with the μ‐hydroxo complexes, the μ‐fluoro species are quite divergent in terms of the electronic structure and properties. UV/Vis spectroscopy of the μ‐fluoro complex exhibits a large redshift (ca. 18 nm) of the Soret band in comparison to their μ‐hydroxo analog. Combined analysis by single crystal X‐ray structure determination and Mössbauer and 1H NMR spectroscopy revealed the presence of two equivalent iron(III) centers in the μ‐fluoro complexes in both solid and solution phases. In contrast, the iron(III) centers of the μ‐hydroxo complexes are known to be inequivalent. Variable‐temperature magnetic studies show a weak antiferromagnetic interaction between the iron(III) centers of the μ‐fluoro complexes with coupling constants (J) ranging from ?33 to ?40 cm?1. The experimental results were further supported by DFT calculations. 相似文献

A key step in cytochrome P450 catalysis includes the spin‐state crossing from low spin to high spin upon substrate binding and subsequent reduction of the heme. Clearly, a weak perturbation in P450 enzymes triggers a spin‐state crossing. However, the origin of the process whereby enzymes reorganize their active site through external perturbations, such as hydrogen bonding, is still poorly understood. We have thus studied the impact of hydrogen‐bonding interactions on the electronic structure of a five‐coordinate iron(III) octaethyltetraarylporphyrin chloride. The spin state of the metal was found to switch reversibly between high (S=5/2) and intermediate spin (S=3/2) with hydrogen bonding. Our study highlights the possible effects and importance of hydrogen‐bonding interactions in heme proteins. This is the first example of a synthetic iron(III) complex that can reversibly change its spin state between a high and an intermediate state through weak external perturbations. 相似文献

A new family of five ethene‐bridged diiron(III)‐μ‐hydroxo bisporphyrins with the same core structure but different counter anions, represented by the general formula [Fe2(bisporphyrin)]OH ? X (X=counter anion), is reported herein. In these complexes, two different spin states of Fe are stabilized in a single molecular framework. Protonation of the oxo‐bridged dimer 1 by strong Brønsted acids such as HI, HBF4, HPF6, HSbF6, and HClO4 produces the μ‐hydroxo complexes with I5? ( 2 ), BF4? ( 3 ), PF6? ( 4 ), SbF6? ( 5 ), and ClO4? ( 6 ) as counter anions, respectively. The X‐ray structures of 2 and 6 have been determined, which provide a rare opportunity to investigate structural changes upon protonation. Spectroscopic characterization has revealed that the two iron(III) centers in 2 are nonequivalent with nearly high and admixed‐intermediate spins in both the solid state and solution. Moreover, the two different FeIII centers of 3 – 5 are best described as having admixed‐high and admixed‐intermediate spins with variable contributions of S=5/2 and 3/2 for each state in the solid, but two different admixed‐intermediate spins in solution. In contrast, the two FeIII centers in 6 are equivalent and are assigned as having high and intermediate spin states in the solid and solution, respectively. The X‐ray structures reveal that the Fe? O bond length increases on going from the μ‐oxo to the μ‐hydroxo complexes, and the Fe‐O(H)‐Fe unit becomes more bent, with the dihedral angle decreasing from 150.9(2)° in 1 to 142.3(3)° and 143.85(2)° in 2 and 6 , respectively. Variable‐temperature magnetic data have been subjected to a least‐squares fitting using the expressions derived from the spin Hamiltonians H=?2JS1?S2?μ?B+D[${S{{2\hfill \atop z\hfill}}}$ ?1/3S(S+1)] (for 2 , 3 , 4 , and 5 ) and H=?2JS1?S2 (for 6 ). The results show that strong antiferromagnetic coupling between the two FeIII centers in 1 is attenuated to nearly zero (?2.4 cm?1) in 2 , whereas the values are ?46, ?32.6, ?33.5, and ?34 cm?1 for 3 , 4 , 5 , and 6 , respectively. 相似文献

For well over 20 years, μ‐oxo‐diiron corroles, first reported by Vogel and co‐workers in the form of μ‐oxo‐bis[(octaethylcorrolato)iron] (Mössbauer δ 0.02 mm s?1, ΔEQ 2.35 mm s?1), have been thought of as comprising a pair antiferromagnetically coupled low‐spin FeIV centers. The remarkable stability of these complexes, which can be handled at room temperature and crystallographically analyzed, present a sharp contrast to the fleeting nature of enzymatic, iron(IV)‐oxo intermediates. An array of experimental and theoretical methods have now shown that the iron centers in these complexes are not FeIV but intermediate‐spin FeIII coupled to a corrole.2?. The intramolecular spin couplings in {Fe[TPC]}2(μ‐O) were analyzed via DFT(B3LYP) calculations in terms of the Heisenberg–Dirac–van Vleck spin Hamiltonian H=JFe–corrole(SFe?Scorrole)+JFe–Fe′(SFe?SFe′)+JFe′–corrole(SFe′?Scorrole′), which yielded JFe–corrole=JFe′–corrole′=0.355 eV (2860 cm?1) and JFe–Fe′=0.068 eV (548 cm?1). The unexpected stability of μ‐oxo‐diiron corroles thus appears to be attributable to charge delocalization via ligand noninnocence. 相似文献

The reaction of dinuclear copper(II ) cryptates with calcium cyanamide, CaNCN, and sodium dicyanamide, Na[N(CN)2] results in dinuclear compounds of formulae [Cu2(HNCN)(R3Bm)](ClO4)3 ( 1 ), [Cu2(dca)(R3Bm)](ClO4)3?4H2O ( 2 ), and [Cu2(NCNCONH2)(R3Bm)](CF3SO3)3 ( 3 ), in which R3Bm=N[(CH2)2NHCH2(C6H4‐m)CH2NH(CH2)2]3N and dca=dicyanamido ligand (NCNCN?). The X‐ray diffraction analysis reveals for both 1 and 3 a dinuclear entity in which the copper atoms are bridged by means of the ‐NCN‐ unit. The molar magnetic susceptibility measurements of 1–3 in the 2–300 K range indicate ferromagnetic coupling. The calculated J values, by using theoretical methods based on density functional theory (DFT) are in excellent agreement with the experimental data. Catalytic hydration of a nitrile to an amide functional group is assumed responsible for the formation of 3 from a μ1,3‐dicyanamido ligand. 相似文献

The present study focuses on the formation and reactivity of hydroperoxo–iron(III) porphyrin complexes formed in the [FeIII(tpfpp)X]/H2O2/HOO? system (TPFPP=5,10,15,20‐tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)‐21H,23H‐porphyrin; X=Cl? or CF3SO3?) in acetonitrile under basic conditions at ?15 °C. Depending on the selected reaction conditions and the active form of the catalyst, the formation of high‐spin [FeIII(tpfpp)(OOH)] and low‐spin [FeIII(tpfpp)(OH)(OOH)] could be observed with the application of a low‐temperature rapid‐scan UV/Vis spectroscopic technique. Axial ligation and the spin state of the iron(III) center control the mode of O? O bond cleavage in the corresponding hydroperoxo porphyrin species. A mechanistic changeover from homo‐ to heterolytic O? O bond cleavage is observed for high‐ [FeIII(tpfpp)(OOH)] and low‐spin [FeIII(tpfpp)(OH)(OOH)] complexes, respectively. In contrast to other iron(III) hydroperoxo complexes with electron‐rich porphyrin ligands, electron‐deficient [FeIII(tpfpp)(OH)(OOH)] was stable under relatively mild conditions and could therefore be investigated directly in the oxygenation reactions of selected organic substrates. The very low reactivity of [FeIII(tpfpp)(OH)(OOH)] towards organic substrates implied that the ferric hydroperoxo intermediate must be a very sluggish oxidant compared with the iron(IV)–oxo porphyrin π‐cation radical intermediate in the catalytic oxygenation reactions of cytochrome P450. 相似文献

The J aggregates of 4‐sulfonatophenyl meso‐substituted porphyrins are non‐covalent polymers obtained by self‐assembly that form nanoparticles of different morphologies. In the case of high aspect‐ratio nanoparticles (bilayered ribbons and monolayered nanotubes), shear hydrodynamic forces may modify their shape and size, as observed by peak force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy of frozen solutions, small‐angle X‐ray scattering measurements in a disk‐plate rotational cell, and cone–plate rotational viscometry. These nanoparticles either show elastic or plastic behaviour: there is plasticity in the ribbons obtained upon nanotube collapse on solid/air interfaces and in viscous concentrated nanotube solutions, whereas elasticity occurs in the case of dilute nanotube solutions. Sonication and strong shear hydrodynamic forces lead to the breaking of the monolayered nanotubes into small particles, which then associate into large colloidal particles. 相似文献

Redox‐Driven Symmetry Change for Terbium(III) Bis(porphyrinato) Double‐Decker Complexes by the Azimuthal Rotation of the Porphyrin Macrocycles 下载免费PDF全文

Molecular structures for three oxidation forms (anion, radical, and cation) of terbium(III) bis(porphyrinato) double‐decker complexes have been systematically studied. We found that the redox state controls the azimuthal rotation angle (φ) between the two porphyrin macrocycles. For [TbIII(tpp)2]n (tpp: tetraphenylporphyrinato, n=?1, 0, and +1), φ decreases at each stage of the oxidation process. The decrease in φ is due to the higher steric repulsion between the phenyl rings on the porphyrin macrocycle and the β hydrogen atoms on the other porphyrin macrocycle, which results from the shorter interfacial distance between the two porphyrin macrocycles. Conversely, φ=45° for both [TbIII(oep)2]?1 and [TbIII(oep)2]0 (oep: octaethylporphyrinato), but φ=36° for [TbIII(oep)2]+1. Theoretical calculations suggest that the smaller azimuthal rotation angle of the cation form is due to the electronic interaction in the doubly oxidized ligand system. 相似文献

The two‐step spin crossover in mononuclear iron(III) complex [Fe(salpm)2]ClO4 ? 0.5 EtOH ( 1 ) is shown to be accompanied by a structural phase transition as concluded from 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy and single crystal X‐ray diffraction, with spin‐state ordering on just one of two sub‐lattices in the intermediate magnetic and structural phase. The complex also exhibits thermal‐ and light‐induced spin‐state trapping (TIESST and LIESST), and relaxation from the LIESST and TIESST excited states occurs via the broken symmetry intermediate phase. Two relaxation events are evident in both experiments, that is, two T(LIESST) and two T(TIESST) values are recorded. The change in symmetry which accompanies the TIESST effect was followed in real time using single crystal diffraction. After flash freezing at 15 K the crystal was warmed to 40 K at which temperature superstructure reflections were observed to appear and disappear within a 10 000 s time range. In the frame of the international year of crystallography, these results illustrate how X‐ray diffraction makes it possible to understand complex ordering phenomena. 相似文献

The system shows a decrease in all the iron–ligand bond lengths, suggesting that photoexcitation involves a ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer or a change in the superexchange coupling between the metal centers.

A series of alluaudite Na2Fe3?xMnx(PO4)3 microcompounds, which self‐assembled from primary nanorods, were prepared successfully through a solvothermal method. As a promising candidate cathode for sodium‐ion batteries, it is necessary to obtain a deeper understanding of the relationship between the structure and physicochemical properties of these materials. The local electronic and geometric environments were systematically investigated, for the first time, by using a combination of soft/hard X‐ray absorption, IR, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The results show that the electrochemical performance is not only associated with morphology, but also with the electronic and crystalline structure. With the introduction of manganese into the lattice, the long‐range order maintains the isostructural framework and the lattice parameters expand as expected. However, for short‐range order, PO4 tetrahedra and MO6 octahedra (M=Fe and Mn) become more severely distorted as a function of Mn concentration. Meanwhile, larger MnO6 octahedra will compress the space of FeO6 octahedra, which will result in stronger core/electron–electron interactions for Fe, as characterized by hard/soft X‐ray absorption spectra. These slight changes in the electronic and local structures lead to different electrochemical performances with changes to the manganese content. Moreover, other physicochemical properties, such as magnetic behavior, are also confirmed to be correlated with these different electron interactions and local geometric environments. 相似文献

A bis(μ‐oxido)dinickel(III) complex was synthesized and characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction, resonance Raman, and ESI‐mass measurements. Magnetic susceptibility measurements by SQUID and EPR spectroscopy reveal that the complex has a triplet ground state, which is unprecedented for high‐valent metal (M) complexes with [M2(μ‐O)2] diamond core. DFT studies indicate ferromagnetic coupling of the nickel(III) centers. The complex exhibits hydrogen abstraction reactivity and oxygenation reactivity toward external substrates. 相似文献

In the series of polymeric spin‐crossover compounds Fe(X‐py)2[Ag(CN)2)]2 (py=pyridine, X=H, 3‐Cl, 3‐methyl, 4‐methyl, 3,4‐dimethyl), magnetic and calorimetric measurements have revealed that the conversion from the high‐spin (HS) to the low‐spin (LS) state occurs by two‐step transitions for three out of five members of the family (X=H, 4‐methyl, and X=3,4‐dimethyl). The two other compounds (X=3‐Cl and 3‐methyl) show respectively an incomplete spin transition and no transition at all, the latter remaining in the HS state in the whole temperature range. The spin‐crossover behaviour of the compound undergoing two‐step transitions is well described by a thermodynamic model that considers both steps. Calculations with this model show low cooperativity in this type of systems. Reflectivity and photomagnetic experiments reveal that all of the compounds except that with X=3‐methyl undergo light‐induced excited spin state trapping (LIESST) at low temperatures. Isothermal HS‐to‐LS relaxation curves at different temperatures support the low‐cooperativity character by following an exponential decay law, although in the thermally activated regime and for aX=H and X=3,4‐dimethyl the behaviour is well described by a double exponential function in accordance with the two‐step thermal spin transition. The thermodynamic parameters determined from this isothermal analysis were used for simulation of thermal relaxation curves, which nicely reproduce the experimental data. 相似文献

The binding of a series of substituted phenols as axial ligands onto a diiron(III)? bisporphyrin framework have been investigated. Spectroscopic characterization revealed high‐spin states of the iron centers in all of the phenolate complexes, with one exception in the 2,4,6‐trinitrophenolate complex of diiron(III)? bisporphyrin, which only stabilized the pure intermediate‐spin (S=3/2) state of the iron centers. The average Fe? N (porphyrin) and Fe? O (phenol) distances that were observed with the 2,4,6‐trinitrophenolate complex were 1.972(3) Å and 2.000(2) Å, respectively, which are the shortest and longest distances reported so far for any FeIII? porphyrin with phenoxide coordination. The alternating shift pattern, which shows opposite signs of the chemical shifts for the meta versus ortho/para protons, is attributed to negative and positive spin densities on the phenolate carbon atoms, respectively, and is indicative of π‐spin delocalization onto the bound phenolate. Electrochemical data reveals that the E1/2 value for the FeIII/FeII couple is positively shifted with increasing acidity of the phenol. However, a plot of the E1/2 values for the FeIII/FeII couple versus the pKa values of the phenols shows a linear relationship for all of the complexes, except for the 2,4,6‐trinitrophenolate complex. The large deviation from linearity is probably due to the change of spin for the complex. Although 2,4,6‐trinitrophenol is the weakest axial ligand in the series, its similar binding with the corresponding FeIII? monoporphyrin only results in stabilization of the high‐spin state. The porphyrin macrocycle in the 2,4,6‐trinitrophenolate complex of diiron(III)? bisporphyrin is the most distorted, whilst the “ruffling” deformation affects the energy levels of the iron d orbitals. The larger size and weaker binding of 2,4,6‐trinitrophenol, along with heme? heme interactions in the diiron(III)? bisporphyrin, are responsible for the larger ring deformations and eventual stabilization of the pure intermediate‐spin states of the iron centers in the complex. 相似文献

The mechanism of the light‐induced spin crossover of the [Fe(bpy)3]2+ complex (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) has been studied by combining accurate electronic‐structure calculations and time‐dependent approaches to calculate intersystem‐crossing rates. We investigate how the initially excited metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer (MLCT) singlet state deactivates to the final metastable high‐spin state. Although ultrafast X‐ray free‐electron spectroscopy has established that the total timescale of this process is on the order of a few tenths of a picosecond, the details of the mechanisms still remain unclear. We determine all the intermediate electronic states along the pathway from low spin to high spin and give estimates for the deactivation times of the different stages. The calculations result in a total deactivation time on the same order of magnitude as the experimentally determined rate and indicate that the complex can reach the final high‐spin state by means of different deactivation channels. The optically populated excited singlet state rapidly decays to a triplet state with an Fe d6(${{\rm t}{{5\hfill \atop {\rm 2g}\hfill}}}$ ${{\rm e}{{1\hfill \atop {\rm g}\hfill}}}$ ) configuration either directly or by means of a triplet MLCT state. This triplet ligand‐field state could in principle decay directly to the final quintet state, but a much faster channel is provided by internal conversion to a lower‐lying triplet state and subsequent intersystem crossing to the high‐spin state. The deactivation rate to the low‐spin ground state is much smaller, which is in line with the large quantum yield reported for the process. 相似文献
