We show that if for every prime p, the normalizer of a Sylow p-subgroup of a finite group G admits a p-solvable supplement, then G is solvable. This generalizes a solvability criterion of Hall which asserts that a finite group G is solvable if and only if G has a Hall p′-subgroup for every prime p.  相似文献

We study holomorphic immersions f:XM from a complex manifoldX into a Kähler manifold of constant holomorphic sectional curvatureM, i.e. a complex hyperbolic space form, a complex Euclidean space form, or the complex projective space equipped with the Fubini-Study metric. ForX compact we show that the tangent sequence splits holomorphically if and only iff is a totally geodesic immersion. ForX not necessarily compact we relate an intrinsic cohomological invariantp(X) onX, viz. the invariant defined by Gunning measuring the obstruction to the existence of holomorphic projective connections, to an extrinsic cohomological invariant(f) measuring the obstruction to the holomorphic splitting of the tangent sequence. The two invariantsp(X) and?(f) are related by a linear map on cohomology groups induced by the second fundamental form. In some cases, especially whenX is a complex surface andM is of complex dimension 4, under the assumption thatX admits a holomorphic projective connection we obtain a sufficient condition for the holomorphic splitting of the tangent sequence in terms of the second fundamental form.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group, let p be a prime, and let P be a Sylow p-subgroup of G. In this note we give a cohomological criterion for the p-solvability of G depending on the cohomology in degree 1 with coefficients in \(\mathbb F_p\) of both the normal subgroups of G and P. As a byproduct we bound the minimum possible number of factors of p-power order appearing in any normal series of G, in which each factor is either a p-group, a p’-group, or a non-p-solvable characteristically simple group, by the number of generators of P.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be S-quasinormally embedded in G if for each prime p dividing the order of H, a Sylow p-subgroup of H is also a Sylow p-subgroup of some S-quasinormal subgroup of G. In this paper we investigate the structure of finite groups that have some S-quasinormally embedded subgroups of prime-power order, and new criteria for p-nilpotency are obtained.  相似文献

We compute the divisor class group of the general hypersurface Y of a complex projective normal variety X of dimension at least four containing a fixed base locus Z. We deduce that completions of normal local complete intersection domains of finite type over C of dimension ≥ 4 are completions of UFDs of finite type over C.  相似文献

Let k be a field of characteristic p>0. Call a finite group G a poco group over k if any finitely generated cohomological Mackey functor for G over k has polynomial growth. The main result of this paper is that G is a poco group over k if and only if the Sylow p-subgroups of G are cyclic, when p>2, or have sectional rank at most 2, when p=2.A major step in the proof is the case where G is an elementary abelian p-group. In particular, when p=2, all the extension groups between simple functors can be determined completely, using a presentation of the graded algebra of self extensions of the simple functor , by explicit generators and relations.  相似文献

We study finite groups with the following property (*): All subgroups of odd index are pronormal. Suppose that G has a normal subgroup A with property (*), and the Sylow 2-subgroups of G/A are self-normalizing. We prove that G has property (*) if and only if so does NG(T)/T, where T is a Sylow 2-subgroup of A. This leads to a few results that can be used for the classification of finite simple groups with property (*).  相似文献

This paper concerns a certain subcategory of the category of representations for a semisimple algebraic group G in characteristic p, which arises from the semisimple modules for the corresponding quantum group at a p-th root of unity. The subcategory, thus, records the cohomological difference between quantum groups and algebraic groups. We define translation functors in this category and use them to obtain information on the irreducible characters for G when the Lusztig character formula does not hold.  相似文献

Let P be a subgroup of a Sylow subgroup of a finite group G. If P is a Sylow subgroup of some normal subgroup of G then P is called normally embedded in G. We establish tests for a finite group G to be p-supersoluble provided that every maximal subgroup of a Sylow p-subgroup of X is normally embedded in G. We study the cases when X is a normal subgroup of G, X = Op',p(H), and X = F*(H) where H is a normal subgroup of G.  相似文献

Let p be a prime and let P be a Sylow p-subgroup of a finite nonabelian group G. Let bcl(G) be the size of the largest conjugacy classes of the group G. We show that if p is an odd prime but not a Mersenne prime or if P does not involve a section isomorphic to the wreath product \({Z_p \wr Z_p}\), then \({|P/O_p(G)| \leq bcl(G)}\).  相似文献

In this note, global information about a finite group is obtained by assuming that certain subgroups of some given order are S-semipermutable. Recall that a subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be S-semipermutable if H permutes with all Sylow subgroups of G of order coprime to \({\lvert H\rvert}\). We prove that for a fixed prime p, a given Sylow p-subgroup P of a finite group G, and a power d of p dividing \({\lvert G\rvert}\) such that \({1\le d < \lvert P\rvert}\), if \({H\,{\cap}\, O^p(G)}\) is S-semipermutable in \({O^p(G)}\) for all normal subgroups H of P with \({\lvert H\rvert=d}\), then either G is p-supersoluble or else \({\lvert P\,{\cap}\, {O^p(G)}\rvert > d}\). This extends the main result of Guo and Isaacs in (Arch. Math. 105:215–222 2015). We derive some theorems that extend some known results concerning S-semipermutable subgroups.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a finite group G is called a c#-normal subgroup of G if there exists a normal subgroup K of G such that G = HK and HK is a CAP-subgroup of G: In this paper, we investigate the influence of fewer c#-normal subgroups of Sylow p-subgroups on the p-supersolvability, p-nilpotency, and supersolvability of finite groups. We obtain some new sufficient and necessary conditions for a group to be p-supersolvable, p-nilpotent, and supersolvable. Our results improve and extend many known results.  相似文献

Let G be a p-nilpotent linear group on a finite vector space V of characteristic p. Suppose that |G||V| is odd. Let P be a Sylow p-subgroup of G. We show that there exist vectors \(v_1\) and \(v_2\) in V such that \(C_G(v_1) \cap C_G(v_2)=P\). A striking conjecture of Malle and Navarro offers a simple global criterion for the nilpotence (in the sense of Broué and Puig) of a p-block of a finite group. Our result implies that this conjecture holds for groups of odd order.  相似文献

Let A be a finite nilpotent group acting fixed point freely by automorphisms on the finite solvable group G. It is conjectured that the Fitting length of G is bounded by the number of primes dividing the order of A, counted with multiplicities. The main result of this paper shows that the conjecture is true in the case where A is cyclic of order p n q, for prime numbers p and q coprime to 6 and G has abelian Sylow 2-subgroups.  相似文献

In this paper it is shown that the projective cover of the trivial irreducible module of a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra is induced from the one dimensional trivial module of a maximal torus. As a consequence, the number of the isomorphism classes of irreducible modules with a fixed p-character for a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra L is bounded above by p MT(L), where MT(L) denotes the maximal dimension of a torus in L. Finally, it is proved that in characteristic p > 3 the projective cover of the trivial irreducible L-module is induced from the one-dimensional trivial module of a torus of maximal dimension, only if L is solvable.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a group G is called s-semipermutable in G if H is permutable with every Sylow p-subgroup of G with (p, |H|) = 1. In this paper, we use s-semipermutable subgroups to determine the structure of finite groups. Some of the previous results are generalized.  相似文献

We prove the following generalization of the classical Shephard–Todd–Chevalley Theorem. Let G be a finite group of graded algebra automorphisms of a skew polynomial ring \(A:=k_{p_{ij}}[x_1,\cdots,x_n]\). Then the fixed subring A G has finite global dimension if and only if G is generated by quasi-reflections. In this case the fixed subring A G is isomorphic to a skew polynomial ring with possibly different p ij ’s. A version of the theorem is proved also for abelian groups acting on general quantum polynomial rings.  相似文献

Let A and G be finite groups of relatively prime orders and assume that A acts on G via automorphisms. We study how certain conditions on G imply its solvability when we assume the existence of a unique A-invariant Sylow p-subgroup for p equal to 2 or 3.  相似文献

A condition for the solvability of finite groups   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
A subgroup H is called ?-supplemented in a finite group G, if there exists a subgroup B of G such that G = HB and H 1 B is a proper subgroup of G for every maximal subgroup H 1 of H. We investigate the influence of ?-supplementation of Sylow subgroups and obtain a condition for solvability and p-supersolvability of finite groups.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a group G is called µ-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K such that G = HK and H 1 K is a proper subgroup in G for every maximal subgroup H 1 in H. For the initial values of p, we establish the p-supersolubility of a finite group with a μ-supplemented Sylow p-subgroup.  相似文献
