Typically, the morphologies of the self‐assembled nanostructures from block copolymers are limited to spherical micelles, wormlike micelles and vesicles. Now, a new generation of materials with unique shape and structures, cylindrical soft matter particles (tubisomes), are obtained from the hierarchical self‐assembly of cyclic peptide‐bridged amphiphilic diblock copolymers. The capacity of obtained photo‐responsive tubisomes as potential drug carriers is evaluated. The supramolecular tubisomes pave an alternative way for fabricating polymeric tubular structures, and will expand the toolbox for the rational design of functional hierarchical nanostructures.  相似文献

The development in the synthesis and self‐assembly of patchy nanoparticles has resulted in the creation of complex hierarchical structures. Co‐assembly of polymeric nanoparticles and protein molecules combines the advantages of polymeric materials and biomolecules, and will produce new functional materials. Co‐assembly of positively charged patchy micelles and negatively charged bovine serum albumin (BSA) molecules is investigated. The patchy micelles, which were synthesized using block copolymer brushes as templates, leads to co‐assembly with protein molecules into vesicular structures. The average size of the assembled structures can be controlled by the molar ratio of BSA to patchy micelles. The assembled structures are dissociated in the presence of trypsin. The protein–polymer hybrid vesicles could find potential applications in medicine.  相似文献

The controlled synthesis of inorganic micro- and nanostructures with tailored morphologies and patterns has attracted intensive interest because the properties and performances of micro- and nanostructured materials are largely dependent on the shape and structure of the primary building blocks and the way in which the building blocks are assembled or integrated. This review summarizes the recent advances on the solution-phase synthesis of inorganic micro- and nanostructures with controlled morphologies and patterns via three typical colloidal chemical routes, i.e., synthesis based on catanionic micelles, reactive templates, and colloidal crystal templates, with focus on the approaches developed in our lab. Firstly, catanionic micelles formed by mixed cationic/anionic surfactants are used as effective reaction media for the shape-controlled synthesis of inorganic nanocrystals and the solution growth of hierarchical superstructures assembled by one-dimensional (1D) nanostructures. Secondly, reactive template-directed chemical transformation strategy provides a simple and versatile route to fabricate both hollow structures and 1D nanostructures. Thirdly, colloidal crystals are employed as very effective templates for the facile solution-phase synthesis of novel inorganic structures with controlled patterns, such as three-dimensionally (3D) ordered macroporous materials and two-dimensionally (2D) patterned nanoarrays and nanonets. Finally, a brief outlook on the future development in this area is presented.  相似文献

Novel amphiphilic molecules composed of naphthylacryl and L ‐glutamide moieties (1‐NA and 2‐NA) have been designed and their organogel formation in various organic solvents as well as their self‐assembled nanostructures have been investigated. Both compounds formed organogels in many organic solvents, ranging from nonpolar to polar, and self‐assembled into essentially nanofiber structures, although some twist or belt structures could be observed in certain solvents. A gel of compound 2‐NA in ethanol initially self‐assembled into nanofibers and then these were transformed into a family of coaxial hollow toruloid‐like (CHTL) nanostructures under irradiation, in which various toroids and disks of different sizes were stacked coaxially. We have established that a topochemical [2+2] cycloaddition in the organogel triggers this transformation. When the gel was fabricated into xerogels in which no ethanol remained, such morphological changes could not happen. This might be the first report of an organogel, in which both organized nanofibers and solvent coexist, controlling a topochemical reaction as well as the self‐assembled nanostructures formed. Due to the formation of the toruloid‐like nanostructures, the gel collapsed to a precipitate. However, upon heating this precipitate with ethanol, it redissolved and then formed a gel and self‐assembled into nanofibers once more. Thus, a reversible morphological transformation between nanofibers and an unprecedented series of toruloid‐like nanostructures can be induced by alternately heating and irradiating the gel.  相似文献

Spontaneous patterning of anisotropic nanostructures into ordered assemblies remains a challenging quest, which requires controlled innovative approaches. One way to achieve such ordering of 1D nanorods is by manipulating the varieties of interactions (attractive and repulsive forces) present in colloidal solutions of anisotropic nanocrystals. The other ingenuous pathway is solvent‐evaporation‐mediated self‐organization of the 1D nanorods. By following the second protocol, we have achieved exclusive pillar self‐assembled patterns of visible‐light‐emitting Mn‐doped ZnSe nanorods. The nanorods also exhibit intriguing vortex patterning observed by directional solvent evaporation from the nanorod solution. The effect of solvent evaporation to generate such unique morphologies on the TEM grid is discussed and the reported procedure to obtain the assembled patterns of visible‐light‐emitting, doped nanorods might be useful for future technological applications.  相似文献

Dipeptide diphenylalanine has attracted significant research interests because of its ability to self‐assemble into various nanostructures such as nanotubes, nanowires, and nanoribbons. In this article, we present the synthesis and self‐assembly of a novel diphenylalanine‐based homopolymer and block/random copolymers by the reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization of an acrylamide having a dipeptide moiety. The RAFT polymerization of N‐acryloyl‐l ,l ‐diphenylalanine (A‐Phe‐Phe‐OH) afforded novel amino acid‐based polymers with predetermined molecular weights and relatively narrow‐molecular weight distributions. The hierarchical self‐assembled structures of poly(A‐Phe‐Phe‐OH), which involve nanorods, larger nanofiber‐like microcrystals, and fiber bundles, were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and dynamic light scattering measurements. The circular dichroic measurements of poly(A‐Phe‐Phe‐OH) revealed its characteristic chiroptical property, which is affected by the nature of the solvents and the addition of urea and salts via hydrophobic, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic interactions. Thermo‐ and pH‐responsive block and random copolymers composed of A‐Phe‐Phe‐OH and N‐isopropylacrylamide were synthesized by RAFT polymerization, and the thermoresponsive properties and assembled structures of the resulting copolymers were investigated by AFM and turbidity measurements. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Photosensitive cinnamic acid conjugated glutamides were designed to demonstrate photocontrolled hierarchical chirality transfer and switching in self‐assembled systems. In methanol, the cinnamic acid derivatives self‐assembled into superhelices, which could be switched into nanokebabs upon UV irradiation. These two nanostructures showed opposite helicity. The chiral nanostructures could further convey their chirality to achiral fluorescent molecules and result in the emission of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). Remarkably, the CPL followed the helicity of the chiral nanostructure rather than the inherent molecular chirality. Photodriven dimerization of the cinnamic moiety lead to a significant change in molecular packing and subsequent switching of the helicity of the formed nanostructures.  相似文献

Helical topological structures are often found in chiral biological systems, but seldom in synthesized polymers. Now, controllable microphase separation of amphiphilic liquid‐crystalline block copolymers (LCBCs) consisting of hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide) and hydrophobic azobenzene‐containing poly(methylacrylate) is combined with chirality transfer to fabricate helical nanostructures by doping with chiral additives (enantiopure tartaric acid). Through hydrogen‐bonding interactions, chirality is transferred from the dopant to the aggregation, which directs the hierarchical self‐assembly in the composite system. Upon optimized annealing condition, helical structures in film are fabricated by the induced aggregation chirality. The photoresponsive azobenzene mesogens in the LCBC assist photoregulation of the self‐assembled helical morphologies. This allows the construction and non‐contact manipulation of complicated nanostructures.  相似文献

This article reports on optically active core/shell nanoparticles constituted by chiral helical polymers and prepared by a novel approach: using self‐assembled polymer micelles as reactive nanoreactors. Such core/shell nanoparticles were composed of optically active helical‐substituted polyacetylene as the core and thermosensitive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) as the shell. The synthetic procedure is divided into three major steps: (1) synthesis of amphiphilic diblock copolymer bearing polymerizable C[tbond]C bonds via atom transfer radical polymerization, followed by (2) self‐assembly of the diblock copolymer to form polymer micelles; and (3) catalytic emulsion polymerization of substituted acetylene monomer conducted using the polymer micelles as reactive nanoreactors leading to the core/shell nanoparticles. The core/shell nanoparticles simultaneously exhibited remarkable optical activity and thermosensitivity. The facile, versatile synthesis methodology opens new approach toward preparing novel multifunctional core/shell nanoparticles.© 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Enzymatic hydrogelation is a totally different process to the heating‐cooling gelation process, in which the precursors of the gelators can be involved during the formation of self‐assembled structures. Using thixotropic hydrogels formed by a super gelator as our studied system, we demonstrated that the enzyme concentration/conversion rate of enzymatic reaction had a strong influence on the morphology of resulting self‐assembled nanostructures and the property of resulting hydrogels. The principle demonstrated in this study not only helps to understand and elucidate the phenomenon of self‐assembly triggered by enzymes in biological systems, but also offers a unique methodology to control the morphology of self‐assembled structures for specific applications such as controlled drug release.  相似文献

The extracellular matrix (ECM) is the natural fibrous scaffold that regulates cell behavior in a hierarchical manner. By mimicking the dynamic and reciprocal interactions between ECM and cells, higher‐order molecular self‐assembly (SA), mediated through the dynamic growth of scaffold‐like nanostructures assembled by different molecular components, was developed. Designed and synthesized were two self‐sorted coumarin‐based gelators, a peptide molecule and a benzoate molecule, which self‐assemble into nanofibers and nanobelts, respectively, with different dynamic profiles. Upon the dynamic growth of the fibrous scaffold assembled from peptide gelators, nanobelts assembled from benzoate gelators transform into a layer‐by‐layer nanosheet, reaching ninefold increase in height. By using light and an enzyme, the spatial–temporal growth of the scaffold can be modified, leading to in situ height regulation of the higher‐order architecture.  相似文献

Double hydrophilic diblock copolymer, poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide)‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐3‐azidopropylacrylamide) (PDMA‐b‐P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM), containing azide moieties in one of the blocks was synthesized via consecutive reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. The obtained diblock copolymer molecularly dissolves in aqueous solution at room temperature, and can further supramolecularly self‐assemble into core‐shell nanoparticles consisting of thermoresponsive P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) cores and water‐soluble PDMA coronas above the lower critical solution temperature of P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) block. As the micelle cores contain reactive azide residues, core crosslinking can be facilely achieved upon addition of difunctional propargyl ether via click chemistry. In an alternate approach in which the PDMA‐b‐P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) diblock copolymer was dissolved in a common organic solvent (DMF), the core‐crosslinked (CCL) micelles can be fabricated via “click” crosslinking upon addition of propargyl ether and subsequent dialysis against water. CCL micelles prepared by the latter approach typically possess larger sizes and broader size distributions, compared with that obtained by the former one. In both cases, the obtained (CCL) micelles possess thermoresponsive cores, and the swelling/shrinking of which can be finely tuned with temperature, rendering them as excellent candidates as intelligent drug nanocarriers. Because of the high efficiency and quite mild conditions of click reactions, we expect that this strategy can be generalized for the structural fixation of other self‐assembled nanostructures. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The self‐assembly of a low‐molecular‐weight organogelator into various hierarchical structures has been achieved for a pyridylpyrazole linked L ‐glutamide amphiphile in different solvents. Upon gel formation, supramolecular chirality was observed, which exhibited an obvious dependence on the polarity of the solvent. Positive supramolecular chirality was obtained in nonpolar solvents, whereas it was inverted into negative supramolecular chirality in polar solvents. Moreover, the gelator molecules self‐assembled into a diverse array of nanostructures over a wide scale range, from nanofibers to nanotubes and microtubes, depending on the solvent polarity. Such morphological changes could even occur for the xerogels in the solvent vapors. We found that the interactions between the pyridylpyrazole headgroups and the solvents could subtly change the stacking of the molecules and, hence, their self‐assembled nanostructures. This work exemplifies that organic solvents can significantly involve the gelation, as well as tune the structure and properties, of a gel.  相似文献

The self‐assembly of amphiphilic block copolymers has attracted the interest of a large number of research groups in the past two decades. Many examples have been reported using AB diblock copolymers, but the self‐assembly becomes more complex and shows a greater variety if ABC triblock copolymers are used. However, the synthesis of the polymer becomes more demanding since end‐group modifications or chain extensions become necessary. Using various kinds of polymerization techniques, pure triblock copolymers have been reported and their synthesis is covered in this review. Following the synthesis, a detailed and thorough analysis of the self‐assembly behaviour is the next step. We have selected promising and well characterized examples to show the range of self‐assembled structures possible, covering novel shapes of micelles but also polymersomes with an asymmetric membrane. Our selection of current examples in literature show the challenges and chances associated with amphiphilic ABC triblock copolymers.  相似文献

Three‐dimensional (3D) hydroxyapatite (HAP) hierarchical nanostructures, in particular hollow nanostructures, have attracted much attention owing to their potential applications in many biomedical fields. Herein, we report a rapid microwave‐assisted hydrothermal synthesis of a variety of hydroxyapatite hierarchical nanostructures that are constructed by the self‐assembly of nanorods or nanosheets as the building blocks, including HAP nanorod‐assembled hierarchical hollow microspheres (HA‐NRHMs), HAP nanorod‐assembled hierarchical microspheres (HA‐NRMs), and HAP nanosheet‐assembled hierarchical microspheres (HA‐NSMs) by using biocompatible biomolecule pyridoxal‐5′‐phosphate (PLP) as a new organic phosphorus source. The PLP molecules hydrolyze to produce phosphate ions under microwave‐hydrothermal conditions, and the phosphate ions react with calcium ions to form HAP nanorods or nanosheets; then, these nanorods or nanosheets self‐assemble to form 3D HAP hierarchical nanostructures. The preparation method reported herein is time‐saving, with microwave heating times as short as 5 min. The HA‐NRHMs consist of HAP nanorods as the building units, with an average diameter of about 50 nm. The effects of the experimental conditions on the morphology and crystal phase of the products are investigated. The hydrolysis of PLP under microwave‐hydrothermal conditions and the important role of PLP in the formation of 3D HAP hierarchical nanostructures are investigated and a possible formation mechanism is proposed. The products are explored for potential applications in protein adsorption and drug delivery. Our experimental results indicate that the HA‐NRHMs have high drug/protein‐loading capacity and sustained drug‐release behavior. Thus, the as‐prepared HA‐NRHMs are promising for applications in drug delivery and protein adsorption.  相似文献

We report an innovative template‐assisted synthetic protocol for the selective functionalization of terminal triple bonds in oligophenyleneethynylenes (OPE) by pre‐organization in aqueous solution. By this approach, three new OPE‐based bolaamphiphiles substituted with hydrophilic poly(2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazoline) (PEtOx) chains of different length have been synthesized. The chain length was observed to strongly influence the aqueous supramolecular polymerization: bolaamphiphiles with longer hydrophilic chains aggregate into spherical nanoparticles in a stepwise fashion, whereas 2D anisotropic platelets are formed cooperatively if shorter PEtOx chains are used. Our results demonstrate that hydrophobic interactions can be strong enough to trigger cooperative effects in aqueous self‐assembly processes.  相似文献

Two‐dimensional (2D) carbon nanomaterials possessing promising physical and chemical properties find applications in high‐performance energy storage devices and catalysts. However, large‐scale fabrication of 2D carbon nanostructures is based on a few specific carbon templates or precursors and poses a formidable challenge. Now a new bottom‐up method for carbon nanosheet fabrication using a newly designed anisotropic carbon nanoring molecule, CPPhen, is presented. CPPhen was self‐assembled at a dynamic air–water interface with a vortex motion to afford molecular nanosheets, which were then carbonized under inert gas flow. Their nanosheet morphologies were retained after carbonization, which has never been seen for low‐molecular weight compounds. Furthermore, adding pyridine as a nitrogen dopant in the self‐assembly step successfully afforded nitrogen‐doped carbon nanosheets containing mainly pyridinic nitrogen species.  相似文献

Tuning morphologies of self‐assembled structures in water is a major challenge. Herein we present a salen‐based amphiphile which, using complexation with distinct transition metal ions, allows to control effectively the self‐assembly morphology in water, as observed by Cryo‐TEM and confirmed by DLS measurements. Applying this strategy with various metal ions gives a broad spectrum of self‐assembled structures starting from the same amphiphilic ligand (from cubic structures to vesicles and micelles). Thermogravimetric analysis and electric conductivity measurements reveal a key role for water coordination apparently being responsible for the distinct assembly behavior.  相似文献

Nanostructures derived from amphiphilic DNA–polymer conjugates have emerged prominently due to their rich self‐assembly behavior; however, their synthesis is traditionally challenging. Here, we report a novel platform technology towards DNA–polymer nanostructures of various shapes by leveraging polymerization‐induced self‐assembly (PISA) for polymerization from single‐stranded DNA (ssDNA). A “grafting from” protocol for thermal RAFT polymerization from ssDNA under ambient conditions was developed and utilized for the synthesis of functional DNA–polymer conjugates and DNA–diblock conjugates derived from acrylates and acrylamides. Using this method, PISA was applied to manufacture isotropic and anisotropic DNA–polymer nanostructures by varying the chain length of the polymer block. The resulting nanostructures were further functionalized by hybridization with a dye‐labelled complementary ssDNA, thus establishing PISA as a powerful route towards intrinsically functional DNA–polymer nanostructures.  相似文献

Nanorod‐assembled FHA microspheres with different F contents were for the first time prepared through a facile one‐step hydrothermal method. The effect of the reaction time and pH value of reaction solutions on the FHA morphology was investigated to elucidate the self‐assembly process of FHA microspheres. The results showed pH values had significant effect on the morphology of the formed FHA crystals, which were self‐assembled into sphere‐like sturctures at high pH conditions and rod‐like structures at low pH values. The results suggested that formation of FHA crystals with varied morphology may be directly related to Ca2+ release kinetics from EDTA‐Ca‐Na2 at different pH conditions. Furthermore, it was found that the chemical stability of FHA microspheres was dependent on the F content in the materials, and high F contents in FHA microspheres lead to improved chemical stability. These results suggest that the prepared self‐assembled FHA microspheres may be used for teeth substitution materials due to their unique hierarchical structures and controllable chemical stability.  相似文献
