Two independent weak-coupling expansions are developed for the Liouville quantum field theory on a circle. In the first, the coupling of the nonzero modes is treated as a perturbation on the exact solution to the zero-mode problem (quantum mechanics with an exponential potential). The second approach is a weak-coupling approximation to an explicit operator solution which expresses various Liouville operators as functions of a free massless field using a Bäcklund transformation. It is shown that the free state space associated with the latter solution must be restricted to the sector which is odd with respect to a type of “parity.” Various matrix elements are computed to order g10 using both approaches, yielding identical results.  相似文献

We demonstrate the appearance of spontaneous symmetry breaking induced by nonperturbative quantum corrections for scalar light cone quantum field theory in 1+1 dimensions. We define a light cone effective potential and obtain a second order phase transition.  相似文献

Green's function equations are considered for interacting spinor and (pseudo) scalar fields with interactions . These equations do not determine higher many-point functions if two-point functions are given as “input.” If vertex parts are given as input, two-point functions are determined but higher many-point functions are not determined.  相似文献

The article examines the Feynman amplitude when some of the mass parameters are scaled to infinity. Contributions from diagrams containing the scaled mass go to zero provided no particles are massless and BPHZ subtractions are used.  相似文献

The report presents the construction of non-cutoff Euclidean Green's functions for nonrenormalizable interactions I()= d(ge): exp : in four-dimensional space-time. It is shown that all axioms for the generating functional of E.G.F. are satisfied except perhaps theSO(4) invariance. It is shown that the singularities of E.G.F. for coinciding points are not worse than those of the free theory.Invited talk at the Symposium on Mathematical Methods in the Theory of Elementary Particles, Liblice castle, Czechoslovakia, June 18–23, 1978.Supported in part by NSF Grant No INT 73-20002 A 01 (formerly GF-41958).The author would like to thank Professors T.Balaban, J.Fröhlich and A.Uhlmann for interesting discussions and valuable suggestions. The history and phenomenology of hadronic parity violation is reviewed and a new model-independent approach based on effective field theory is developed. Possible future developments are discussed.  相似文献

We study the leading effective interactions between the Standard Model fields and a generic singlet CP-odd (pseudo-) Goldstone boson. Two possible frameworks for electroweak symmetry breaking are considered: linear and non-linear. For the latter case, the basis of leading effective operators is determined and compared with that for the linear expansion. Associated phenomenological signals at colliders are explored for both scenarios, deriving new bounds and analyzing future prospects, including LHC and High Luminosity LHC sensitivities. Mono-Z, mono-W, W-photon plus missing energy and on-shell top final states are most promising signals expected in both frameworks. In addition, non-standard Higgs decays and mono-Higgs signatures are especially prominent and expected to be dominant in non-linear realisations.  相似文献

We review how nuclear forces emerge from low-energy QCD via chiral effective field theory. The presentation is accessible to the non-specialist. At the same time, we also provide considerable detailed information (mostly in appendices) for the benefit of researchers who wish to start working in this field.  相似文献

Motivated by the anti-de Sitter conformal field theory correspondence, we show that there is remarkable agreement between static supergravity solutions and extrema of a field theory potential. For essentially any function V(alpha) there are boundary conditions in anti-de Sitter space so that gravitational solitons exist precisely at the extrema of V and have masses given by the value of V at these extrema. Based on this, we propose new positive energy conjectures. On the field theory side, each function V can be interpreted as the effective potential for a certain operator in the dual field theory.  相似文献

Nuclear processes involving momenta much below the mass of the pion may be described by an effective field theory in which the pions do not appear as explicit degrees of freedom. The effects of the pion and all other virtual hadrons are reproduced by the coefficients of gauge-invariant local operators involving the nucleon field. Nucleon-nucleon scattering phase shift data constrains many of the coefficients that appear in the effective Lagrangean but at some order in the expansion coefficients enter that must be constrained by other observables. We compute several observables in the two-nucleon sector up to next-to-next-to leading order in the effective field theory without pions, or to the order at which a counterterm involving four-nucleon field operators is encountered. Effective range theory is recovered from the effective field theory up to the order where relativistic corrections enter or where four-nucleon-external current local operators arise. For the deuteron magnetic moment, quadrupole moment and the np radiative capture cross section a four-nucleon-one-photon counterterm exists at next-to-leading order. The electric polarizability and electric charge form factor of the deuteron are determined up to next-to-next-to-leading order, which includes the first appearance of relativistic corrections.  相似文献

We will give a short introduction to the one-nucleon sector of chiral perturbation theory and will address the issue of a consistent power counting and renormalization. We will discuss the infrared regularization and the extended on-mass-shell scheme. Both allow for the inclusion of further degrees of freedom beyond pions and nucleons and the application to higher-loop calculations. As applications we consider the chiral expansion of the nucleon mass to order O(q6) and the inclusion of vector and axial-vector mesons in the calculation of nucleon form factors.  相似文献
