The paper deals with tournaments (i.e., with trichotomic relations) and their homomorphisms. The study of tournaments by means of their homomorphisms is natural as tournaments are algebras of a special kind. We prove (1) theorems which relate combinatorial and algebraic notions (e.g., the score of a tournament and the monoid of its endomorphisms); (2) theorems concerned with strictly algebraic aspects of tournaments (e.g., characterizing the lattice of congruences of a tournament). Our main result is that the group of automorphisms and the lattice of congruences of a tournament are in general independent. In the last part of the paper we give some examples and applications to other fields.  相似文献

It has long been known in universal algebra that any distributive sublattice of congruences of an algebra which consists entirely of commuting congruences yields a sheaf representation of the algebra. In this paper we provide a generalization of this fact and prove a converse of the generalization. To be precise, we exhibit a one-to-one correspondence (up to isomorphism) between soft sheaf representations of universal algebras over stably compact spaces and frame homomorphisms from the dual frames of such spaces into subframes of pairwise commuting congruences of the congruence lattices of the universal algebras. For distributive-lattice-ordered algebras this allows us to dualize such sheaf representations.  相似文献

In crisp environment the notions of normal subgroup and group operating on a set are well known due to many applications. In this paper we study extensions of these classical notions to the larger universe of fuzzy sets. We obtain a characterization of operations of a fuzzy group on a fuzzy set in terms of homomorphisms of crisp groups.  相似文献

The notion of a Priestley relation between Priestley spaces is introduced, and it is shown that there is a duality between the category of bounded distributive lattices and 0-preserving join-homomorphisms and the category of Priestley spaces and Priestley relations. When restricted to the category of bounded distributive lattices and 0-1-preserving homomorphisms, this duality yields essentially Priestley duality, and when restricted to the subcategory of Boolean algebras and 0-preserving join-homomorphisms, it coincides with the Halmos-Wright duality. It is also established a duality between 0-1-sublattices of a bounded distributive lattice and certain preorder relations on its Priestley space, which are called lattice preorders. This duality is a natural generalization of the Boolean case, and is strongly related to one considered by M. E. Adams. Connections between both kinds of dualities are studied, obtaining dualities for closure operators and quantifiers. Some results on the existence of homomorphisms lying between meet and join homomorphisms are given in the Appendix.  相似文献

The operators hn and i n and their duals hmacr;n and imacr;n defined on the free semigroup X + for a nonempty set X by Gerhard and Petrich are proved here to be homomorphisms of onto certain subsets of X + with a suitable multiplication. From the work of the authors mentioned, these operators induce fully invariant congruences on X + corresponding to join irreducible varieties of bands if X is countably infinite. New operators on X + are defined by means of these operators which give homomorphisms in an analogous way and induce fully invariant congruences on X +corresponding to all varieties of bands except for the variety of all bands, and some varieties of normal bands. The former of these was investigated by the mentioned authors and the latter must be treated differently. By means of the above operators we are able to characterize all cases of relatively free bands.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the variety of distributive nearlattices with greatest element. We will define the class of N-spaces as sober-like topological spaces with a basis of open, compact, and dually compact subsets satisfying an additional condition. We will show that the category of distributive nearlattices with greatest element whose morphisms are semi-homomorphisms is dually equivalent to the category of N-spaces with certain relations, called N-relations. In particular, we give a duality for the category of distributive nearlattices with homomorphisms. Finally, we apply these results to characterize topologically the one-to-one and onto homomorphisms, the subalgebras, and the lattice of the congruences of a distributive nearlattice.  相似文献

We focus on two topics that are related to moduli of elements in partially ordered vector spaces. First, we relate operators that preserve moduli to generalized notions of lattice homomorphisms, such as Riesz homomorphisms, Riesz* homomorphisms, and positive disjointness preserving operators. We also consider complete Riesz homomorphisms, which generalize order continuous lattice homomorphisms. Second, we characterize elements with a modulus by means of disjoint elements and apply this result to obtain moduli of functionals and operators in various settings. On spaces of continuous functions, we identify those differences of Riesz* homomorphisms that have a modulus. Many of our results for pre-Riesz spaces of continuous functions lead to results on order unit spaces, where the functional representation is used.

We introduce the notions of causal paths and causal homotopies, modifications of the traditional notions of paths and homotopies, as more suitable for certain basic constructions in (Lie) semigroup theory. The major result is the construction in this causal context of an analogue of the universal covering semigroup and the demonstration that local homomorphisms on the given semigroup extend to global homomorphisms on it. An Ockham algebra that satisfies the identity is called a Kn, m-algebra. Generalizing some results obtained in [2], J. Varlet and T. Blyth, in [3, Chapter 8], study congruences on K1, 1-algebras. In particular, they describe the complement (when it exists) of a principal congruence and characterize these congruences that are complemented. Definitions for heterogeneous congruences and heterogeneous ideals on a Boolean module $\mathcal {M}$ are given and the respective lattices $\mathrm{Cong}\mathcal {M}$ and $\mathrm{Ide}\mathcal {M}$ are presented. A characterization of the simple bijective Boolean modules is achieved differing from that given by Brink in a homogeneous approach. We construct the smallest and the greatest modular congruence having the same Boolean part. The same is established for modular ideals. The notions of kernel of a modular congruence and the congruence induced by a modular ideal are introduced to describe an isomorphism between $\mathrm{Cong}\mathcal {M}$ and $\mathrm{Ide}\mathcal {M}$. This isomorphism leads us to conclude that the class of the Boolean module is ideal determined.  相似文献

On any regular semigroup S, the greatest idempotent pure congruence τ the greatest idempotent separating congruence μ and the least band congruence β are used to give the S-classification of regular semigroups as follows. These congruences generate a sublattice Λ of the congruence lattice C(S) of S. We consider the triples (Λ,K,T), where K and T are the restrictions of the K- and T-relations on C(S) to Λ. Such triples are characterized abstractly and form the objects of a category S whose morphisms are surjective K- and T-preserving homomorphisms subject to a mild condition. The class of regular semigroups is made into a category S whose morphisms are fairly restricted homomorphisms. The main result of the paper is the existence of a representative functor from S to S. The effect of the S-classification on Reilly semigroups and cryptogroups is discussed briefly.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group. The class group of the group ring of G is a quotient of the idèlic homomorphisms of R(G) by the global functions and the determinantal functions. Using Explicit Brauer Induction, we prove Adams operations, applied to determinantal functions, satisfy some congruences which were conjectured by M. J. Taylor.
