Möbius invariants of general circle packings are defined in terms of cross ratios. The necessary and sufficient conditions of existence of circle packings are established by the techniques of Möbius invariants. It is shown that circle packings are uniquely determined, up to Möbius transformations, by their Möbius invariants. The rigidity of infinite circle packings with bounded degree is proved using the approach of Möbius invariants.  相似文献

We present an operator theoretic approach to orthogonal rational functions based on the identification of a suitable matrix representation of the multiplication operator associated with the corresponding orthogonality measure. Two alternatives are discussed, leading to representations which are linear fractional transformations with matrix coefficients acting on infinite Hessenberg or five-diagonal unitary matrices. This approach permits us to recover the orthogonality measure throughout the spectral analysis of an infinite matrix depending uniquely on the poles and the parameters of the recurrence relation for the orthogonal rational functions. Besides, the zeros of the orthogonal and para-orthogonal rational functions are identified as the eigenvalues of matrix linear fractional transformations of finite Hessenberg or five-diagonal matrices. As an application we use operator perturbation theory results to obtain new relations between the support of the orthogonality measure and the location of the poles and parameters of the recurrence relation for the orthogonal rational functions.  相似文献

We study the convergence of rational interpolants with prescribed poles on the unit circle to the Herglotz-Riesz transform of a complex measure supported on [–, ]. As a consequence, quadrature formulas arise which integrate exactly certain rational functions. Estimates of the rate of convergence of these quadrature formulas are also included.This research was performed as part of the European project ROLLS under contract CHRX-CT93-0416.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the computation of the moments associated to rational weight functions given as a power spectrum with known or unknown poles of any order in the interior of the unit disc. A recursive algebraic procedure is derived that computes the moments in a finite number of steps. We also study the associated interpolatory quadrature formulas with equidistant nodes on the unit circle. Explicit expressions are given for the positive quadrature weights in the case of a polynomial weight function. For rational weight functions with simple poles, mostly real or uniformly distributed on a circle in the open unit disc, we also obtain expressions for the quadrature weights and sufficient conditions that guarantee that they are positive. The Poisson kernel is a simple example of a rational weight function, and in the last section, we derive an asymptotic expansion of the quadrature error.  相似文献

An immersed umbilic-free submanifold in the unit sphere is called Blaschke isoparametric if its Möbius form vanishes identically and all of its Blaschke eigenvalues are constant. Then the classification of Blaschke isoparametric hypersurfaces is natural and interesting in the Möbius geometry of submanifolds. In this paper, we give a classification of the Blaschke isoparametric hypersurfaces with three distinct Blaschke eigenvalues one of which is simple.  相似文献

Classical interpolatory or Gaussian quadrature formulas are exact on sets of polynomials. The Szegő quadrature formulas are the analogs for quadrature on the complex unit circle. Here the formulas are exact on sets of Laurent polynomials. In this paper we consider generalizations of these ideas, where the (Laurent) polynomials are replaced by rational functions that have prescribed poles. These quadrature formulas are closely related to certain multipoint rational approximants of Cauchy or Riesz–Herglotz transforms of a (positive or general complex) measure. We consider the construction and properties of these approximants and the corresponding quadrature formulas as well as the convergence and rate of convergence.  相似文献

The Möbius polynomial is an invariant of ranked posets, closely related to the Möbius function. In this paper, we study the Möbius polynomial of face posets of convex polytopes. We present formulas for computing the Möbius polynomial of the face poset of a pyramid or a prism over an existing polytope, or of the gluing of two or more polytopes in terms of the Möbius polynomials of the original polytopes. We also present general formulas for calculating Möbius polynomials of face posets of simplicial polytopes and of Eulerian posets in terms of their f-vectors and some additional constraints.  相似文献

We study duality relations for zeta and Möbius matrices and monotone conditions on the kernels. We focus on the cases of families of sets and partitions. The conditions for positivity of the dual kernels are stated in terms of the positive Möbius cone of functions, which is described in terms of Sylvester formulae. We study duality under coarse-graining and show that an \(h\)-transform is needed to preserve stochasticity. We give conditions in order that zeta and Möbius matrices admit coarse-graining, and we prove they are satisfied for sets and partitions. This is a source of relevant examples in genetics on the haploid and multi-allelic Cannings models.  相似文献

Hurwitz found the Fourier expansion of the Bernoulli polynomials over a century ago. In general, Fourier analysis can be fruitfully employed to obtain properties of the Bernoulli polynomials and related functions in a simple manner. In addition, applying the technique of Möbius inversion from analytic number theory to Fourier expansions, we derive identities involving Bernoulli polynomials, Bernoulli numbers, and the Möbius function; this includes formulas for the Bernoulli polynomials at rational arguments. Finally, we show some asymptotic properties concerning the Bernoulli and Euler polynomials.  相似文献

Quadrature formulas on the unit circle were introduced by Jones in 1989. On the other hand, Bultheel also considered such quadratures by giving results concerning error and convergence. In other recent papers, a more general situation was studied by the authors involving orthogonal rational functions on the unit circle which generalize the well-known Szeg polynomials. In this paper, these quadratures are again analyzed and results about convergence given. Furthermore, an application to the Poisson integral is also made.  相似文献

We provide an algorithm to compute the nodes and weights for Gauss-Chebyshev quadrature formulas integrating exactly in spaces of rational functions with arbitrary real poles outside . Contrary to existing rational quadrature formulas, the computational effort is very low, even for extremely high degrees, and under certain conditions on the poles it can be shown that the complexity is of order . This method is based on the derivation of explicit expressions for Chebyshev orthogonal rational functions, which are (thus far) the only examples of explicitly known orthogonal rational functions on with arbitrary real poles outside this interval.

We present some general results concerning so-called biorthogonal polynomials of RII type introduced by M. Ismail and D. Masson. These polynomials give rise to a pair of rational functions which are biorthogonal with respect to a linear functional. It is shown that these rational functions naturally appear as eigenvectors of the generalized eigenvalue problem for two arbitrary tri-diagonal matrices. We study spectral transformations of these functions leading to a rational modification of the linear functional. An analogue of the Christoffel–Darboux formula is obtained.  相似文献

An umbilic-free hypersurface in the unit sphere is called MSbius isoparametric if it satisfies two conditions, namely, it has vanishing MSbius form and has constant MSbius principal curvatures. In this paper, under the condition of having constant MSbius principal curvatures, we show that the hypersurface is of vanishing MSbius form if and only if its MSbius form is parallel with respect to the Levi-Civita connection of its MSbius metric. Moreover, typical examples are constructed to show that the condition of having constant MSbius principal curvatures and that of having vanishing MSbius form are independent of each other.  相似文献

We extend some results of Giroux and Rahman (Trans. Amer. Math. Soc.193(1974), 67–98) for Bernstein-type inequalities on the unit circle for polynomials with a prescribed zero atz=1 to those for rational functions. These results improve the Bernstein-type inequalities for rational functions. The sharpness of these inequalities is also established. Our approach makes use of the Malmquist–Walsh system of orthogonal rational functions on the unit circle associated with the Lebesgue measure.  相似文献

This paper proposes a general setting for Möbius inversion which includes the cases of locally finite partially ordered sets and monoids with the finite decomposition property (f.d.p.). The unifying concept is that of categories with the f.d.p., called Möbius categories, which we characterize in four different ways. The established theory of incidence algebras, Möbius functions, product formulas, reduced algebras, etc., is carried over. Furthermore, the study of functors between Möbius categories yields results in two directions: firstly, inspired from the substitution of formal power series is the construction of a homomorphism between incidence algebras which allows the transfer of Möbius inversions; secondly, surjective functors often give rise to a reduced incidence algebra, thus shedding new light on many important reduced algebras in combinatorial theory.  相似文献

Given a closed submanifold, or a compact regular domain, in Euclidean space, we consider the Riesz energy defined as the double integral of some power of the distance between pairs of points. When this integral diverges, we compare two different regularization techniques (Hadamard's finite part and analytic continuation), and show that they give essentially the same result. We prove that some of these energies are invariant under Möbius transformations, thus giving a generalization to higher dimensions of the Möbius energy of knots.  相似文献

In this paper we provide an extension of the Chebyshev orthogonal rational functions with arbitrary real poles outside to arbitrary complex poles outside . The zeros of these orthogonal rational functions are not necessarily real anymore. By using the related para-orthogonal functions, however, we obtain an expression for the nodes and weights for rational Gauss-Chebyshev quadrature formulas integrating exactly in spaces of rational functions with arbitrary complex poles outside .

In analogy to valuation characterizations and kinematic formulas of convex geometry, we develop a combinatorial theory of invariant valuations and kinematic formulas for finite lattices. Combinatorial kinematic formulas are shown to have application to some probabilistic questions, leading in turn to polynomial identities for Möbius functions and Whitney numbers.  相似文献

The paper presents a new cross-ratio of hypercomplex numbers based on projective geometry. We discuss the essential properties of the projective cross-ratio, notably its invariance under Möbius transformations.
