The influence of a soliton system under an external harmonic excitation is considered. We take the compound KdV-Burgers equation as an example, and investigate numerically the chaotic behavior of the system with a periodic forcing. Different routes to chaos such as period doubling, quasi-periodic routes, and the shapes of strange attractors are observed by using bifurcation diagrams, the largest Lyapunov exponents, phase projections and Poincaré maps.  相似文献

通过在三阶Lorenz系统中引入一个外加的状态变量构造了一个新的超混沌系统.对系统的一些基本特性,如耗散性、平衡点、稳定性、Hopf分叉进行了详细分析,且观察到了从周期到混沌、超混沌的演化.系统超混沌的存在性通过Lyapunov指数谱得到了验证.还设计了一个模拟电子电路,从电路实验中观察到了各种超混沌吸引子. 关键词: Lorenz系统 超混沌吸引子 电路实现  相似文献

A Wardrop equilibrium for multiple routes from the same origin to the same destination requires equal travel time on each path used. With the advent of real-time traffic data regarding travel times on alternative routes, it becomes important to analyze how best to use the information provided to drivers. In particular, can a Wardrop equilibrium, which is a desired state, be realized? Simulations using a realistic traffic model (the three-phase model) on a two-route example are presented to answer this question. One route (the main line) is a two-lane highway with a stalled vehicle in the right lane and the other route is a low-speed bypass. For a critical incoming flow of vehicles, a phase transition between free flow and congested flow near the stalled vehicle is observed, making this a challenging example. In the first scenario, drivers choose routes selfishly on the basis of current travel times. The result is strong oscillations in travel time because of the inherent delay in the information provided. The second scenario involves a hypothetical control system that limits the number of vehicles on the main line to prevent the free-flow to congested-flow phase transition by diverting sufficient flow to the bypass. The resulting steady state is neither a Wardrop equilibrium nor a system optimum, but an intermediate state in which the main-line travel time is less than on the bypass but the average for all vehicles is close to a minimum. In a third scenario, anticipation is used as a driver-advice system to provide a fair indicator of which route to take. Prediction is based on real-time data comparing the number of vehicles on the main line at the time a vehicle leaves the origin to the actual travel time when it reaches the destination. Steady states that approximate Wardrop equilibria, or at least as close to them as can be expected, are obtained. This approach is also applied to an example with a low-speed boundary condition imposed at the destination in place of a stalled vehicle. The steady state flow approaches a Wardrop equilibrium because there is no abrupt change in travel time due to a phase transition.  相似文献

We extend the theory of quasipotentials in dynamical systems by calculating, within a broad class of period-doubling maps, an exact potential for the critical fluctuations of pitchfork bifurcations in the weak noise limit. These far-from-equilibrium fluctuations are described by finite-size mean field theory, placing their static properties in the same universality class as the Ising model on a complete graph. We demonstrate that the effective system size of noisy period-doubling bifurcations exhibits universal scaling behavior along period-doubling routes to chaos.  相似文献

We consider the single-mode Maxwell-Bloch equations describing a Doppler-broadening ring laser. For different parameter ranges this system undergoes period-doubling, intermittency, and two-frequency routes to chaos as a single parameter (e.g., detuning) is varied, as has been observed in recent experiments with He-Ne and He-Xe lasers.  相似文献

A two-degree-of-freedom system having symmetrically placed rigid stops and subjected to periodic excitation is considered. Such models play an important role in the studies of mechanical systems with clearances or gaps. The period-one double-impact symmetrical motion and its Poincaré map are derived analytically. Stability and local bifurcations of the period-one double-impact symmetrical motion are analyzed by the equation of Poincaré map. The routes from period-one double-impact symmetrical motion to chaos, via pitchfork bifurcations and period-doubling bifurcation, are studied by numerical simulation. Some non-typical routes to chaos, caused by grazing the stops and Hopf bifurcation of period two four-impact motion, are analyzed. Hopf bifurcations of period-one double-impact symmetrical and antisymmetrical motions are shown to exist in the two-degree-of-freedom vibratory system with two-sided stops. Interesting feature like the period-one four-impact symmetrical motion is also found, and its route to chaos is analyzed. It is of special interest to acquire an overall picture of the system dynamics for some extreme values of parameters, especially those which relate to the degenerated case of a single-degree-of-freedom system, and these analyses are presented here.  相似文献

This paper applies the mathematics of chaos to the task of designing indoor rock-climbing routes. Chaotic variation has been used to great advantage on music and dance, but the challenges here are quite different, beginning with the representation. We present a formalized system for transcribing rock climbing problems and then describe a variation generator that is designed to support human route-setters in designing new and interesting climbing problems. This variation generator, termed strange beta, uses chaos to introduce novelty. We validated this approach with a large blinded study in a commercial climbing gym, in cooperation with experienced climbers and expert route setters. The results show that strange beta can help a human setter produce routes that are at least as good as, and in some cases better than, those produced in the traditional manner.  相似文献

Recently, an interesting form of non-classical effect which can be considered as a form of contextuality within quantum mechanics, has been demonstrated for a four-level system by discriminating the different routes that are taken for measuring a single observable. In this paper, we provide a simpler version of that proof for a single qutrit, which is also within the formalism of quantum mechanics and without recourse to any realist hidden variable model. The degeneracy of the eigenvalues and the Lüder projection rule play important role in our proof.  相似文献

In this paper we study different aspects of the paradigmatic Rössler model. We perform a detailed study of the local and global bifurcations of codimension one and two of limit cycles. This provides us a global idea of the three-parametric evolution of the system. We also study the regions of parameters where we may expect a chaotic behavior by the use of different Chaos Indicators. The combination of the different techniques gives an idea of the different routes to chaos and the different kinds of chaotic attractors we may found in this system.  相似文献

The chaotic behaviours in the p--Ge photoconductor system are studied by changing the photo-excitation coefficient and the routes and parameter conditions are given for chaos generation in this system. A scheme for controlling chaos in the p--Ge photoconductor is presented by adding an ac bias current. Numerical simulations show that this scheme can be effectively used to control chaotic states into stable period states for this system. Moreover, the different period states with different period numbers can be obtained by appropriately adjusting the amplitude, frequency, and initial phase of the additional ac current.  相似文献

The dynamical behavior of the extended Duffing-Van der Pol oscillator is investigated numerically in detail. With the aid of some numerical simulation tools such as bifurcation diagrams and Poinearé maps, the different routes to chaos and various shapes of strange attractors are observed. The object of this paper is to reveal the relation between dynamics of the fractional system and its dimension defined as a sum of the orders of all involved derivatives. We take the fractional Lorenz system as example and regard one or three of its orders as bifurcation parameters. In this framework, we compute the corresponding bifurcation diagrams via an optimal Poincaré section technique developed by us and find there exist two routes to chaos when its dimension increases from some values to 3. One is the process of cascaded period-doubling bifurcations and the other is a crisis (boundary crisis) which occurs in the evolution of chaotic transient behavior. We would like to point out that our investigation is the first to find out that a fractional differential equations (FDEs) system can evolve into chaos by the crisis. Furthermore, we observe rich dynamical phenomena in these processes, such as two-stage cascaded period-doubling bifurcations, chaotic transients, and the transition from coexistence of three attractors to mono-existence of a chaotic attractor. These are new and interesting findings for FDEs systems which, to our knowledge, have not been described before.  相似文献

A novel phenomenon is observed in the dynamics of laser-prepared coherent wave packets, bound by the Coulombic 1/r potential of an ion-pair system. After exciting weakly bound (approximately 3 meV) H(+)(-) wave packets in a Stark field, and permitting them to evolve in time, control of field dissociation via adiabatic and diabatic routes is demonstrated by applying delayed pulsed-electric fields, involving a zero-field crossing. Control manifests itself through the production of ions from each pathway at a different instant in time. This phenomenon is applied to map the oscillatory behavior of an angular momentum wave packet in a heavy Rydberg system. The characteristic frequencies of the observed Stark oscillations verify predicted mass-scaling laws for heavy Rydberg systems.  相似文献

In this paper,the chaotic behaviors in an erbium-doped fiber(EDF) single-ring laser(EDFSRL) are investigated experimentally by using the loss modulation method.An electro-optic modulator(EOM) made of LiNbO 3 crystal is added to the system.Thus,by changing the modulation voltage and the modulation frequency of the EOM,the freedom of the EDFSRL system is increased.The chaotic characteristics of the system are studied by observing the time series and the power spectra.The experimental results indicate that the erbium-doped fiber single-ring laser system can enter into chaos states through period-doubling bifurcation and intermittency routes.  相似文献

A fundamental problem in the study of complex networks is to provide quantitative measures of correlation and information flow between different parts of a system. To this end, several notions of communicability have been introduced and applied to a wide variety of real-world networks in recent years. Several such communicability functions are reviewed in this paper. It is emphasized that communication and correlation in networks can take place through many more routes than the shortest paths, a fact that may not have been sufficiently appreciated in previously proposed correlation measures. In contrast to these, the communicability measures reviewed in this paper are defined by taking into account all possible routes between two nodes, assigning smaller weights to longer ones. This point of view naturally leads to the definition of communicability in terms of matrix functions, such as the exponential, resolvent, and hyperbolic functions, in which the matrix argument is either the adjacency matrix or the graph Laplacian associated with the network.  相似文献
