We report on a novel nonenzymatic sensor platform for the determination of hydrogen peroxide and glucose. It is based on a carbon paste electrode that was modified with Co0.4Fe0.6LaO3 nanoparticles synthesized by the sol–gel method. The structure and morphology of Co0.4Fe0.6LaO3 nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The electrochemical performance of this sensor was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and amperometry, and the results demonstrated that it exhibits strong electrocatalytical activity towards the oxidation of H2O2 and glucose in an alkaline medium. The sensor has a limit of detection as low as 2.0 nM of H2O2 and a linear range that extends from 0.01 to 800 μM. The response to glucose is characterized by two analytical ranges of different slope, viz. from 0.05 to 5 μM and from 5 to 500 μM, with a 10 nM limit of detection. The glucose sensor has a fast response and good long term stability.

CVs recorded on bare CPE (a) and CFL/CPE (c) with 0.3 mM H2O2, CFLs/CPE (b) without H2O2 in 0.1 M NaOH. Scan rate: 100 mV/s. Compared with bare CPE (curve a) with H2O2, a steep increase of oxidation current on the CFLs/CPE with H2O2 (curve c) is observed at around 0.45 V. The above experimental result demonstrated that Co0.4Fe0.6LaO3 nanoparticles displayed great electro-catalytic activity to H2O2.  相似文献

We describe here the preparation of carbon-coated Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles that were further fabricated into multifunctional core/shell nanoparticles (Fe3O4@C@CNCs) through a layer-by-layer self-assembly process of carbon nanocrystals (CNCs). The nanoparticles were applied in a photoluminescence (PL) immunosensor to detect the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and CEA primary antibody was immobilized onto the surface of the nanoparticles. In addition, CEA secondary antibody and glucose oxidase were covalently bonded to silica nanoparticles. After stepwise immunoreactions, the immunoreagent was injected into the PL cell using a flow-injection PL system. When glucose was injected, hydrogen peroxide was obtained because of glucose oxidase catalysis and quenched the PL of the Fe3O4@C@CNC nanoparticles. The here proposed PL immunosensor allowed us to determine CEA concentrations in the 0.005–50 ng?·?mL-1 concentration range, with a detection limit of 1.8 pg?·?mL-1.

Magnetic Fe3O4@SiO2 core shell nanoparticles containing diphenylcarbazide in the shell were utilized for solid phase extraction of Hg(II) from aqueous solutions. The Hg(II) loaded nanoparticles were then separated by applying an external magnetic field. Adsorbed Hg(II) was desorbed and its concentration determined with a rhodamine-based fluorescent probe. The calibration graph for Hg(II) is linear in the 60 nM to 7.0 μM concentration range, and the detection limit is at 23 nM. The method was applied, with satisfying results, to the determination of Hg(II) in industrial waste water.

We have electrodeposited a composite film consisting of graphene oxide, chitosan and glucose oxidase directly on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) through electrochemical reduction of a solution of the 3 components under controlled direct electrical potential. The procedure takes only several minutes, and the thickness of the resulting film is uniform and controllable. The GOx has uncompromised bioactivity and exhibits reversible 2-proton and 2-electron transfer in presence of glucose. It therefore can be used amperometric sensing of glucose. The biosensor has a fast response (<3 s), a detection limit of 0.4 μM (which is 50-fold lower compared to the biosensor prepared by drop-casting solutions of the same materials onto an GCE), and a linear response in the 0.4 μM to 2 mM concentration range (which again is much better than that of the biosensor prepared by the drop-casting method). Other features include high reproducibility, long-time storage stability, and satisfactory selectivity. We presume that the direct single-step electrodeposition of this nanocomposite offers a promising approach towards novel types of highly sensitive and stable electrochemical biosensors.

The direct electron transfer reaction of GOx immobilized on graphene-chitosan hybrids is observed, and therefore can be used for amperometric sensing of glucose. The biosensor shows a fast response (<3 s), a detection limit of 0.4 μM, and a linear response in the 0.4 μM to 2 mM concentration range.  相似文献

We have developed an enzymatic glucose biosensor that is based on a flat platinum electrode which was covered with electrophoretically deposited rhodium (Rh) nanoparticles and then sintered to form a large surface area. The biosensor was obtained by depositing glucose oxidase (GOx), Nafion, and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on the Rh electrode. The electrical potential and the fractions of Nafion and GOx were optimized. The resulting biosensor has a very high sensitivity (68.1 μA mM?1 cm?2) and good linearity in the range from 0.05 to 15 mM (r?=?0.989). The limit of detection is as low as 0.03 mM (at an SNR of 3). The glucose biosensor also is quite selective and is not interfered by electroactive substances including ascorbic acid, uric acid and acetaminophen. The lifespan is up to 90 days. It was applied to the determination of glucose in blood serum, and the results compare very well with those obtained with a clinical analyzer.

We report on the single-step preparation of a composite consisting of graphene oxide (GO), Prussian blue (PB) and chitosan (Chit) that was deposited on a glassy carbon electrode and then used to determine hydrogen peroxide. The composite was obtained by mixing GO, Chit, potassium ferricyanide and ferric chloride and keeping it at 90 °C for 1 h. This method is simple and inexpensive, and does not require purification, centrifugation or sedimentation. Scanning electron microscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction were used to characterize the GO-PB-Chit composites and revealed that PB nanoparticles were formed and uniformly distributed on the surfaces of the GO due to the integrating effects of Chit and GO. The composite displayed electrocatalytic activity in the reduction of hydrogen peroxide to which it responded with good linear relationship in the 1.0 μM to 1.0 mM concentration range, with a detection limit of 0.1 μM (at S/N?=?3).

Platinum nanoparticles (Pt-NPs) with sizes in the range from 10 to 30 nm were synthesized using protein-directed one-pot reduction. The model globular protein bovine serum albumin (BSA) was exploited as the template, and the resulting BSA/Pt-NPs were studied by transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and resonance Rayleigh scattering spectroscopy. The modified nanoparticles display a peroxidase-like activity that was exploited in a rapid method for the colorimetric determination of hydrogen peroxide which can be detected in the 50 μM to 3 mM concentration range. The limit of detection is 7.9 μM, and the lowest concentration that can be visually detected is 200 μM.

The authors describe enzyme based nanobiosensors for continuous monitoring of glucose, with the long term goal of using them as smart diagnostic tattoos. The method is founded on two main features: (1) The fluorescence intensity and decay times of glucose oxidase (GOx) and of GOx labeled with fluorescein (FS) or a ruthenium chelate (Ru) reversibly change during interaction with glucose; (2) The (labeled) enzyme is linked to magnetite magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) which permits the MNPs to be physically manipulated. It is found that a stable link between MNPs and GOx is only accomplished if the number of amino groups on the GOX is artificially enlarged (to form GOxsam). Fluorescence decay data are best acquired with 8-nm MNPs where scattering is marginal; The activity of GOx is found not to be affected by immobilization on the MNPs. The various immobilized enzymes (GOxsam, GOxsam-FS and GOxsam-Ru; all on MNPs) differ only slightly in terms of linear response to glucose which ranged from 0.5 mM to at least 3.5 mM. The RSDs are about 5% (for n = 5), the detection limits are at ~50 μM, and the sensor lifetimes are >1 week.
Graphical abstract Nanobiosensors consisting of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles linked to glucose oxidase, previously enriched with amino groups (GOxsam) and containing fluorescein (FS) or a ruthenium derivative (Ru), are presented as a new kind of smart tattoos for glucose monitoring.

We report on a novel electrochemical biosensor that was fabricated by immobilizing hemoglobin (Hb) onto the surface of a gold electrode modified with a chitosan@Fe3O4 nano-composite. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by co-precipitation and have an average size of 25 nm. They were dispersed in chitosan solution to obtain the chitosan@Fe3O4 nano-composite particles with an average diameter of 35 nm as verified by transmission electron microscopy. X-ray diffraction patterns and Fourier transform IR spectroscopy confirmed that the crystallite structure of the Fe3O4 particles in the nano-composite has remained unchanged. At pH 7.0, Hb gives a pair of redox peaks with a potential of about ?0.21 V and ?0.36 V. The Hb on the film maintained its biological activity and displays good electrocatalytic reduction activity towards hydrogen peroxide. The linear range for the determination of H2O2 is from 2.3 μM to 9.6 mM, with a detection limit at 1.1 μM concentration (at S/N?=?3). The apparent Michaelis-Menten constant is 3.7 mM and indicates the high affinity of Hb for H2O2. This biosensor also exhibits good reproducibility and long-term stability. Thus, it is expected to possess potential applications in the development of the third-generation electrochemical biosensors.

A glucose biosensor has been fabricated by immobilizing glucose oxidase (GOx) on unhybridized titanium dioxide nanotube arrays using an optimized cross-linking technique. The TiO2 nanotube arrays were synthesized directly on a titanium substrate by anodic oxidation. The structure and morphology of electrode material were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The electrochemical performances of the glucose biosensor were conducted by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry measurements. It gives a linear response to glucose in the 0.05 to 0.65 mM concentration range, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9981, a sensitivity of 199.6 μA mM?1 cm?2, and a detection limit as low as 3.8 µM. This glucose biosensor exhibited high selectivity for glucose determination in the presence of ascorbic acid, sucrose and other common interfering substances. This glucose biosensor also performed good reproducibility and long-time storage stability. This optimized cross-linking technique could open a new avenue for other enzyme biosensors fabrication.

A sensor for hydrogen peroxide is described that is based on an indium tin oxide electrode modified with Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles which act as a mimic for the enzyme peroxidase and greatly improve the analytical performance of the sensor. The amperometric current is linearly related to the concentration of H2O2 in the range from 0.2 mM to 2 mM, the regression equation is y?=?-0.5–1.82x, the correlation coefficient is 0.998 (n?=?3), and the detection limit is 0.01 mM (S/N?=?3). We have developed a fast method for sensitive extraction and determination of the metal ions silver(I), gold(III), copper(II) and palladium(II). Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were modified with polythiophene and used for extraction the metal ions without a chelating agent. Following extraction, the ions were determined by flow injection inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. The influence of sample pH, type and volume of eluent, amount of adsorbent, sample volume and time of adsorption and desorption were optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration plots are linear in the 0.75 to 100 μg L?1 concentration range (R2?>?0.998), limits of detection in the range from 0.2 to 2.0 μg L?1, and enhancement factors in the range from 70 to 129. Precisions, expressed as relative standard deviations, are lower than 4.2 %. The applicability of the method was demonstrated by the successful analysis of tap water, mineral water, and river water.

We have developed a non-enzymatic glucose sensor by using a composite prepared from copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) and graphene which can be prepared by simple 1-step electrochemical reduction using graphene oxide (GO) and copper ion as the starting materials. The GO is electrochemically reduced to graphene at a voltage of ?1.5 V, and this is accompanied by the simultaneous formation of CuNPs on the surface of the graphene. This novel nanocomposite combines the advantages of graphene and of CuNPs and displays good electrocatalytic activity toward glucose in alkaline media. The performance of the respective glucose electrode was evaluated by amperometric experiments and revealed a fast response (<2 s), a low detection limit (200 nM), and high sensitivity (607 μA mM?1). The sensor also exhibits good reproducibility and very good specificity for glucose over ascorbic acid, dopamine, uric acid, fructose, lactose and sucrose.

We report on a bienzyme-channeling sensor for sensing glucose without the aid of mediator. It was fabricated by cross-linking horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and glucose oxidase (GOx) on a glassy carbon electrode modified with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs). The bienzyme was cross-linked with the MWNTs by glutaraldehyde and bovine serum albumin. The MWNTs were employed to accelerate the electron transfer between immobilized HRP and electrode. Glucose was sensed by amperometric reduction of enzymatically generated H2O2 at an applied voltage of ?50 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl). Factors influencing the preparation and performance of the bienzyme electrode were investigated in detail. The biosensor exhibited a fast and linear response to glucose in the concentration range from 0.4 to 15 mM, with a detection limit of 0.4 mM. The sensor exhibited good selectivity and durability, with a long-term relative standard deviation of <5 %. Analysis of glucose-spiked human serum samples yielded recoveries between 96 and 101 %.

We have prepared a graphene-based hybrid nanomaterial by electrochemical deposition of cobalt oxide nanoparticles (CoOxNPs) on the surface of electrochemically reduced graphene oxide deposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Scanning electron microscopy and cyclic voltammetry were used to characterize the immobilized nanoparticles. Electrochemical determination of H2O2 is demonstrated with the modified GCE at pH 7. Compared to GCEs modified with CoOxNPs or graphene sheets only, the new electrode displays larger oxidative current response to H2O2, probably due to the synergistic effects between the graphene sheets and the CoOxNPs. The sensor responds to H2O2 with a sensitivity of 148.6 μA mM?1 cm?2 and a linear response range from 5 μM to 1 mM. The detection limit is 0.2 μM at a signal to noise ratio (SNR) of three. The method was successfully applied to the determination of H2O2 in hydrogen peroxide samples.

An electrochemical glucose biosensor was developed by immobilizing glucose oxidase (GOx) on a glass carbon electrode that was modified with molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets that were decorated with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The electrochemical performance of the modified electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, and it is found that use of the AuNPs-decorated MoS2 nanocomposite accelerates the electron transfer from electrode to the immobilized enzyme. This enables the direct electrochemistry of GOx without any electron mediator. The synergistic effect the MoS2 nanosheets and the AuNPs result in excellent electrocatalytic activity. Glucose can be detected in the concentration range from 10 to 300 μM, and down to levels as low as 2.8 μM. The biosensor also displays good reproducibility and long-term stability, suggesting that it represents a promising tool for biological assays. Figure

We report on a novel luminescent method for the detection of folic acid (FA), a member of the vitamin B family. Y2O3 nanoparticles were doped with europium(III) ions and surface-modified with captopril. Their fluorescence is quenched by FA, and intensity is a function of folic acid concentration in the 0.1 – 40 μM concentration range. The detection limit is 83 nM of FA at pH 7 and room temperature.

We report on an ultrasensitive fluorescence immunoassay for human chorionic gonadotrophin antigen (hCG). It is based on the use of silica nanoparticles coated with a copolymer (prepared from a fluorene, a phenylenediamine, and divinylbenzene; PF@SiO2) that acts as a fluorescent label for the secondary monoclonal antibody to β-hCG antigen. In parallel, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were coated with polyaniline, and these magnetic particles (Fe3O4@PANI) served as a solid support for the primary monoclonal antibody to β-hCG antigen. The PF@SiO2 exhibited strong fluorescence and good dispersibility in water. A fluorescence sandwich immunoassay was developed that enables hCG concentrations to be determined in the 0.01–100 ng·mL?1 concentration range, with a detection limit of 3 pg·mL?1.

We have prepared a sol–gel that incorporates Prussian Blue (PB) as a redox mediator. It is shown that the PB in the pores of the sol–gel retains its electrochemical activity and is protected from degradation at acidic and neutral pH values. TEM and EDX studies revealed the PB nanoparticles to possess a cubic crystal structure and to be well entrapped and uniformly dispersed in the pores of the matrix. The electrocatalytic activity of the materials toward hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was studied by cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. The modified electrode displays good sensitivity for the electrocatalytic reduction of H2O2 both in acidic (pH 1.4) and neutral media. The sensor has a dynamic range from 3 to 210 μM of H2O2, and the detection limit is 0.6 μM (at an SNR of 3).

A glassy carbon electrode was modified with β-manganese dioxide (β-MnO2), and glucose oxidase (GOx) was immobilized on its surface. The β-MnO2 nanowires were prepared by a hydrothermal method and characterized by scanning electron microscopy and powder X-ray diffraction. They were then dispersed in Nafion solution and cast on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to form an electrode modified with β-MnO2 nanowires that exhibits improved sensitivity toward hydrogen peroxide. If GOx is immobilized in the surface, the β-MnO2 acts as a mediator, and Nafion as a polymer backbone. The fabrication process was characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and the sensor and its materials were characterized by cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. The biosensor enables amperometric detection of glucose with a sensitivity of 38.2 μA?·?mM?1?·?cm?2, and a response time of?<?5 s. This study also demonstrates the feasibility of realizing inexpensive, reliable, and high-performance biosensors using MnO2 nanowires.
