In this paper optimal control problems governed by elliptic semilinear equations and subject to pointwise state constraints are considered. These problems are discretized using finite element methods and a posteriori error estimates are derived assessing the error with respect to the cost functional. These estimates are used to obtain quantitative information on the discretization error as well as for guiding an adaptive algorithm for local mesh refinement. Numerical examples illustrate the behavior of the method.  相似文献

This paper deals with a posteriori error estimates for advection–reaction–diffusion equations. In particular, error estimators based on the solution of local problems are derived for a stabilized finite element method. These estimators are proved to be equivalent to the error, with equivalence constants eventually depending on the physical parameters. Numerical experiments illustrating the performance of this approach are reported.  相似文献

We derive a posteriori estimates for the difference between exact solutions and approximate solutions to boundary-value problems in terms of local norms. The diffusion problem, linear elasticity and generalizations to other boundary-value elliptic problems are considered. Computable estimates for the deviation from the exact solution are also obtained in terms of linear functionals. Unlike published works of other authors, the construction of such estimates is not connected with any analysis of the adjoint boundary-value problem. On the basis of multiplicative inequalities, local estimates in certain norms subject to the energy norm are derived. Bibliography: 10 titles.  相似文献

In this work, we combine an hp–adaptive strategy with a posteriori error estimates for variational inequalities, which are given by contact problems. The a posteriori error estimates are obtained using a general approach based on the saddle point formulation of contact problems and making use of a yposteriori error estimates for variational equations. Error estimates are presented for obstacle problems and Signorini problems with friction. Numerical experiments confirm the reliability of the error estimates for finite elements of higher order. The use of the hp–adaptive strategy leads to meshes with the same characteristics as geometric meshes and to exponential convergence. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

A posteriori estimates for mixed finite element discretizations of the Navier-Stokes equations are derived. We show that the task of estimating the error in the evolutionary Navier-Stokes equations can be reduced to the estimation of the error in a steady Stokes problem. As a consequence, any available procedure to estimate the error in a Stokes problem can be used to estimate the error in the nonlinear evolutionary problem. A practical procedure to estimate the error based on the so-called postprocessed approximation is also considered. Both the semidiscrete (in space) and the fully discrete cases are analyzed. Some numerical experiments are provided.  相似文献

Finite element exterior calculus (FEEC) has been developed over the past decade as a framework for constructing and analyzing stable and accurate numerical methods for partial differential equations by employing differential complexes. The recent work of Arnold, Falk, and Winther includes a well-developed theory of finite element methods for Hodge–Laplace problems, including a priori error estimates. In this work we focus on developing a posteriori error estimates in which the computational error is bounded by some computable functional of the discrete solution and problem data. More precisely, we prove a posteriori error estimates of a residual type for Arnold–Falk–Winther mixed finite element methods for Hodge–de Rham–Laplace problems. While a number of previous works consider a posteriori error estimation for Maxwell’s equations and mixed formulations of the scalar Laplacian, the approach we take is distinguished by a unified treatment of the various Hodge–Laplace problems arising in the de Rham complex, consistent use of the language and analytical framework of differential forms, and the development of a posteriori error estimates for harmonic forms and the effects of their approximation on the resulting numerical method for the Hodge–Laplacian.  相似文献

A new approach to the a posteriori analysis of distributed optimal control problems is presented. The approach is based on functional type a posteriori estimates that provide computable and guaranteed bounds of errors for any conforming approximations of a boundary value problem. Computable two-sided a posteriori estimates for the cost functional and estimates for approximations of the state and control functions are derived. Numerical results illustrate the efficiency of the approach. Bibliography: 35 titles. __________ Translated from Problemy Matematicheskogo Analiza, No. 35, 2007, pp. 3–14  相似文献

In this article, we shall give a brief review on the fully discrete mixed finite element method for general optimal control problems governed by parabolic equations. The state and the co-state are approximated by the lowest order Raviart–Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control is approximated by piecewise constant elements. Furthermore, we derive a posteriori error estimates for the finite element approximation solutions of optimal control problems. Some numerical examples are given to demonstrate our theoretical results.  相似文献

Highly localized pointwise error estimates for a stabilized Galerkin method are provided for second-order non-selfadjoint elliptic partial differential equations. The estimates show a local dependence of the error on the derivative of the solution u and weak dependence on the global norm. The results in this paper are an extension of the previous pointwise error estimates for the self-adjoint problems. In order to provide pointwise error estimates in the presence of the first-order term in the differential equations, we prove that the stabilized Galerkin solution is higher order perturbation to the Ritz projection of the true solutions. Then, we proceed to obtain pointwise estimates using the so-called discrete Green’s function. Application to error expansion inequalities and a posteriori error estimators are briefly discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive recovery type superconvergence analysis and a posteriori error estimates for the finite element approximation of the distributed optimal control governed by Stokes equations. We obtain superconvergence results and asymptotically exact a posteriori error estimates by applying two recovery methods, which are the patch recovery technique and the least-squares surface fitting method. Our results are based on some regularity assumption for the Stokes control problems and are applicable to the first order conforming finite element method with regular but nonuniform partitions.  相似文献

Local a posteriori estimates of the accuracy of approximate solutions to ill-posed inverse problems with discontinuous solutions from the classes of functions of several variables with bounded variations of the Hardy or Giusti type are studied. Unlike global estimates (in the norm), local estimates of accuracy are carried out using certain linear estimation functionals (e.g., using the mean value of the solution on a given fragment of its support). The concept of a locally extra-optimal regularizing algorithm for solving ill-posed inverse problems, which has an optimal in order local a posteriori estimate, was introduced. A method for calculating local a posteriori estimates of accuracy with the use of some distinguished classes of linear functionals for the problems with discontinuous solutions is proposed. For linear inverse problems, the method is bases on solving specialized convex optimization problems. Examples of locally extra-optimal regularizing algorithms and results of numerical experiments on a posteriori estimation of the accuracy of solutions for different linear estimation functionals are presented.  相似文献

This article is devoted to the a posteriori error analysis of multiharmonic finite element approximations to distributed optimal control problems with time-periodic state equations of parabolic type. We derive a posteriori estimates of the functional type, which are easily computable and provide guaranteed upper bounds for the state and co-state errors as well as for the cost functional. These theoretical results are confirmed by several numerical tests that show high efficiency of the a posteriori error bounds.  相似文献

Superconvergence and recovery a posteriori error estimates of the finite element ap- proximation for general convex optimal control problems are investigated in this paper. We obtain the superconvergence properties of finite element solutions, and by using the superconvergence results we get recovery a posteriori error estimates which are asymptotically exact under some regularity conditions. Some numerical examples are provided to verify the theoretical results.  相似文献

A number of new local and parallel discretization and adaptive finite element algorithms are proposed and analyzed in this paper for elliptic boundary value problems. These algorithms are motivated by the observation that, for a solution to some elliptic problems, low frequency components can be approximated well by a relatively coarse grid and high frequency components can be computed on a fine grid by some local and parallel procedure. The theoretical tools for analyzing these methods are some local a priori and a posteriori estimates that are also obtained in this paper for finite element solutions on general shape-regular grids. Some numerical experiments are also presented to support the theory.

In this paper, we consider the a posteriori error analysis of discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods for the steady and nonsteady first order hyperbolic problems with inflow boundary conditions. We establish several residual-based a posteriori error estimators which provide global upper bounds and a local lower bound on the error. Further, for nonsteady problem, we construct a fully discrete discontinuous finite element scheme and derive the a posteriori error estimators which yield global upper bound on the error in time and space. Our a posteriori error analysis is based on the mesh-dependent a priori estimates for the first order hyperbolic problems. These a posteriori error analysis results can be applied to develop the adaptive discontinuous finite element methods.  相似文献

In this article, residual‐type a posteriori error estimates are studied for finite volume element (FVE) method of parabolic equations. Residual‐type a posteriori error estimator is constructed and the reliable and efficient bounds for the error estimator are established. Residual‐type a posteriori error estimator can be used to assess the accuracy of the FVE solutions in practical applications. In this paper, we study a posteriori error estimates of the upwind symmetric interior penalty Galerkin (SIPG) method for the control constrained optimal control problems governed by linear diffusion–convection–reaction partial differential equations. Residual based error estimators are used for the state, the adjoint and the control. An adaptive mesh refinement indicated by a posteriori error estimates is applied. Numerical examples are presented for convection dominated problems to illustrate the theoretical findings and the effectiveness of the adaptivity.  相似文献

In this paper the dual weighted residual method for optimal control problems of hyperbolic equations of second order is considered. The state equation is written as a first order system in time and a posteriori error estimates separating the influences of time, space, and control discretization are derived to obtain a better accurancy of the discrete solution. A numerical example for optimal control of a nonlinear wave equation is presented. (© 2011 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

A class of regularization methods using unbounded regularizing operators is considered for obtaining stable approximate solutions for ill-posed operator equations. With an a posteriori as well as an a priori parameter choice strategy, it is shown that the method yields the optimal order. Error estimates have also been obtained under stronger assumptions on the generalized solution. The results of the paper unify and simplify many of the results available in the literature. For example, the optimal results of the paper include, as particular cases for Tikhonov regularization, the main result of Mair (1994) with an a priori parameter choice, and a result of Nair (1999) with an a posteriori parameter choice. Thus the observations of Mair (1994) on Tikhonov regularization of ill-posed problems involving finitely and infinitely smoothing operators is applicable to various other regularization procedures as well. Subsequent results on error estimates include, as special cases, an optimal result of Vainikko (1987) and also some recent results of Tautenhahn (1996) in the setting of Hilbert scales.  相似文献
