Acid strength distributions of Mo–Al–Si and Ni–Mo–Al oxide systems have been found by means of a relationship that gives pKa values from amounts of ammonia adsorption. Molybdenum is suggested to cause a homogenization in the acid strength distribution of alumina but a heterogenization in silicaalumina, whereas nickel is found to neutralize strong acid sites inherent to molybdenum.

After adsorption of 1-butene on NaHY zeolite, the desorbate consists of about twelve different components. The application of the temperature-programmed desorption technique to such a system is shown. As a result a modification of the TPD method, the so-called multicomponent TPD, is proposed.

Summary Abrasive stripping voltammetry possesses several features of a spectroscopy. It allows the qualitative and quantitative analysis of electroactive solid materials. This work is focussed on the application for the unambiguous identification of minerals (sulphides, sulfo-salt minerals, fahlores). g-amounts of a mineral are sufficient to perform a series of measurements. Three different voltammetric modes were used to study the electrochemical behaviour of the minerals.
