The goal of this paper is to complete an investigation begun by Cohn and Knopp in their 1994 paper, Application of Dedekind eta-multipliers to modular equations. The paper concerned k (z), a family of modular forms on 0(N) (N a positive integer) with possibly non-trivial multiplier systems. Cohn and Knopp defined new functions k (z) and a new group containing 0(N) and proved that for all S in the larger group and for all k, k (Sz) = M k(S) k (z), where M k(S)24 = 1. This yielded interesting invariance properties of k , dependent on the values of M k(S). Fixing a constant integer e, independent of k, Cohn and Knopp proved that for all k and all S in the larger group, M k(S) e = (±1) e . They determined the sign of M k(S) e in many, but not all, cases. In this paper, we give a complete determination of the values of M k(S) e in the remaining cases.  相似文献

In his last letter to Hardy, Ramanujan defined 17 functions F(q), where |q| < 1. He called them mock theta functions, because as q radially approaches any point e 2ir (r rational), there is a theta function F r(q) with F(q) – F r(q) = O(1). In this paper we obtain the transformations of Ramanujan's fifth and seventh order mock theta functions under the modular group generators + 1 and –1/, where q = e i. The transformation formulas are more complex than those of ordinary theta functions. A definition of the order of a mock theta function is also given.  相似文献

A Gauss-Lucas theorem is proved for multivariate entire functions, using a natural notion of separate convexity to obtain sharp results. Previous work in this area is mostly restricted to univariate entire functions (of genus no greater than one unless “realness” assumptions are made). The present work applies to multivariate entire functions whose sections can be written as a monomial times a canonical product of arbitrary genus. A connection is made with the Levy-Steinitz theorem for conditionally convergent vector series, a result generalizing Riemann’s well-known theorem for conditionally convergent real number series.  相似文献

In this paper we show that the – subdifferential of a lower semicontinuous function is contained in the limit superior of the – subdifferential of lower semicontinuous uniformly convergent family to this function. It happens that this result is equivalent to the corresponding normal cones formulas for family of sets which converges in the sense of the bounded Hausdorff distance. These results extend to the infinite dimensional case those of Ioffe for – functions and of Benoist for Clarkes normal cone. As an application we characterize the subdifferential of any function which is bounded from below by a negative quadratic form in terms of its Moreau–Yosida proximal approximation.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to develop the theory of differential modular forms introduced by A. Buium. The main points are the construction of many isogeny covariant differential modular forms and some auxiliary (nonisogeny covariant) forms and an extension of the classical theory of Serre differential operators on modular forms to a theory of -Serre differential operators on differential modular forms. We consider an embedded modular curve in a locally symmetric space M attached to an orthogonal group of signature (p, 2) and associate to it a nonholomorphic elliptic modular form by integrating a certain theta function over the modular curve. We compute the Fourier expansion and identify the generating series of the (suitably defined) intersection numbers of the Heegner divisors in M with the modular curve as the holomorphic part of the modular form. This recovers and generalizes parts of work of Hirzebruch and Zagier.  相似文献

We present a new, simple proof, based upon Poisson summation, of the Lipschitz summation formula. A conceptually easy corollary is the functional relation for the Hurwitz zeta function. As a direct consequence we obtain a short, motivated proof of Riemann's functional equation for .
