Vertically high-density interconnection for mobile application

There are several PWB technologies in the market that enables high density interconnection for product miniaturization, and this paper focuses on two HDI technologies, SSP and FVSS^®, and discuss the new PWB technologies and the reliability evaluation results for mobile applications. SSP is manufactured in simple lamination process using conventional FR4 materials, which enables future cost reduction and high reliability. FVSS contains filled buried via hole (BVH) and filled micro blind via (μvia) process. By combining the two process FVSS accomplishes high vertical design capability with Stacked μvia-on-μvia and stacked μvia-on-BVH designs.Key reliability requirements for final product quality is drop and temperature cycling reliability in board level in addition to evaluate PWB specific tests to compare performance of new materials used in PWB.     

iGSM: VoIP service for mobile networks

This article proposes iGSM: a voice-over-IP value-added service for the mobile network. The iGSM service provides user mobility to subscribers, which allows them to use either GSM handsets or H.323 terminals (IP phones or PCs) to access telecommunications services. We describe how the iGSM registration, deregistration, and call delivery procedures can be implemented without modifying the GSM network. We study how the tromboning effect in the standard GSM system can be avoided when accessing the IP network. Then we investigate the misrouting problem caused by user mobility     

2004年手机存储器价格大幅下滑

Wideband stubby monopole antenna for mobile phone

A novel stubby monopole antenna fabricated using a single metal plate is presented. A prototype of the proposed antenna with a cross-sectional area of 10/spl times/10 mm and a length of 20 mm is implemented, and the antenna shows a wide operating bandwidth of about 10.9 GHz, making it easy to cover the UMTS band and the 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN bands for mobile/WLAN dual-mode operation of a mobile phone.

Multi-band hybrid antenna for ultra-thin mobile phone applications

A compact hybrid antenna consisting of two PIFAs and a slot antenna is proposed for ultra-thin mobile phone applications. The antenna has a very compact volume of 46 x 10 x 4.2 mm3, and it operates at GSM 850/900, DCS, PCS, and UMTS bands, simultaneously. Results show that its bandwidth and efficiency are sufficient for these penta-band mobile phone applications.

提出一种适合在全面屏手机终端上使用,带宽为700~960 MHz、1 710~2 170 MHz、2 500~2 700 MHz的手机天线.设计的手机仿真模型的长宽高尺寸为158 mm×77 mm×7.5 mm,手机天线的长宽高尺寸为70 mm×5 mm×4 mm,其天线效率分别为20%~35%（700~960 MHz）、20%~55%（1 710~2 170 MHz）、25%~35%（2.5~2.7 GHz）.在目前全面屏天线净空区域3.5 mm的情况下,天线的辐射效率能够满足设计要求.     

Octa-band internal monopole antenna for mobile phone applications

A low-profile monopole antenna covering the following frequency bands is proposed for mobile phone applications: Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM-900), Digital Communication System (DCS), Personal Communication Services (PCS), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), Wireless Broadband (WiBro), Bluetooth, Satellite-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (S-DMB), and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) frequency bands in the 5.0 GHz range. Multiple resonators in a compact configuration have been used to realise the octa-band internal antenna within a volume of 2.08 cm³ that is very attractive for multifunctional slim handsets. Measured performances of a prototype antenna have been compared to predicted results.

Motivations for using the mobile phone for mass communications and entertainment

This study draws on the uses and gratifications framework to examine expanded use of a hybrid medium—the mobile phone—for mass communications and entertainment. Results of a telephone survey of 208 users show different motivations predict diverse uses of the mobile phone. Instrumental use motives drive the use of the mobile phone for news-seeking and Web-surfing. Further, the motive of pass time is significantly linked to playing video games via the mobile phone. In addition, the high-tech mobile phone enabled users to be more active: the more intensively people use mobile phones for voice calls, the more likely they will be to use mobile data services. Thus, the hybrid mobile phone bridges interpersonal and mass communication. Finally, younger users are more likely to use mobile phones for getting news and entertainment. Implications for the industry and recommendations for future research are discussed.

Compact internal multiband antenna for mobile phone and WLAN standards

A novel internal planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) suitable for handset terminals is presented. The structure combines shorted parasitic patches, capacitive loads and slots to achieve multiband operation. This compact antenna operates in the GSM, DCS, PCS, UMTS, HIPERLAN/2 and IEEE 802.11a bands within 2.5:1 voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and with good efficiency.     

手机体温充电系统的设计

手机通信时因电池电量不足而突然关机会给手机用户带来不便。而研究发现人体与环境之间总是存在温差,因此可利用温差电技术实现为手机随时补充能量。在介绍温差电技术基本原理的基础上,设计手机体温充电系统。利用半导体材料制作热电偶,通过串联形成热电堆,再进行串并联构成温差电池组,经升压稳压电路后,该模块满足手机充电要求。并研究了工艺,最后通过试验测试温差电池组和升压稳压电路,结果显示升压稳压电路的充电启动电压为O．911V,电流为70mA,当半导体温差电池串并联的等效内阻和负载电阻匹配时输出功率达到最大。
