The present paper describes the statistical modeling and optimization of a multistage gas-solid fluidized bed reactor for the control of hazardous pollutants in flue gas.In this work,we study the hydrodynamics of the pressure drop and minimum fluidization velocity.The hydrodynamics of a three-stage fluidized bed are then compared with those for a single-stage unit.It is observed that the total pressure drop over all stages of the three-stage fluidized bed is less than that of an identical single-stage system.However,the minimum fluidization velocity is higher in the single-stage unit.Under identical conditions,the minimum fluidization velocity is highest in the top bed,and lowest in the bottom bed.This signifies that the behavior of solids changes from a well-mixed flow to a plug-flow,with intermediate behavior in the middle bed.  相似文献

An experimental study was made of the thermal and hydraulic characteristics of a three-phase fluidized bed cooling tower. The experiments were carried out in a packed tower of 200 mm diameter and 2.5 m height. The packing used was spongy rubber balls 12.7 mm in diameter and with a density of 375 kg/m3. The tower characteristic was evaluated. The air-side pressure drop and the minimum fluidization velocity were measured as a function of water/air mass flux ratio (0.4–2), static bed height (300–500 mm), and hot water inlet temperature (301–334 K).

The experimental results indicate that the tower characteristics KaV/L increases with increases in the bed static height and hot water inlet temperature and with decreases in the water/air mass flux ratio. It is also shown that the air-side pressure drop increases very slowly with increases in air velocity. The minimum, fluidization velocity was found to be independent of the static bed height.

The data obtained were used to develop a correlation between the tower characteristics, hot water inlet temperature, static bed height, and the water/air mass flux ratio. The mass transfer coefficient of the three-phase fluidized bed cooling tower is much higher than that of packed-bed cooling towers with higher packing height.  相似文献

Hydrodynamic characteristics of fluidization in a conical or tapered bed differ from those in a columnar bed because the superficial velocity in the bed varies in the axial direction. Fixed and fluidized regions could coexist and sharp variations in pressure drop could occur, thereby giving rise to a noticeable pressure drop-flow rate hysteresis loop under incipient fluidization conditions. To explore these unique properties, several experiments were carried out using homogeneous, well-mixed, ternary mixtures with three dif- ferent particle sizes at varying composition in gas-solid conical fluidized beds with varying cone angles. The hydrodynamic characteristics determined include the minimum fluidization velocity, bed fluctuation, and bed expansion ratios. The dependence of these quantities on average particle diameter, mass fraction of the fines in the mixture, initial static bed height, and cone angle is discussed. Based on dimensional analysis and factorial design, correlations are developed using the system parameters, i.e. geometry of the bed (cone angle), particle diameter, initial static bed height, density of the solid, and superficial velocity of the fluidizing medium. Experimental values of minimum fluidization velocity, bed fluctuation, and bed expansion ratios were found to agree well with the developed correlations.  相似文献

To study olefin reduction by using an auxiliary reactor for FCC naphtha upgrading, a large-scale cold model of a riser-bed coupled to an upper fluidized bed was established. The effect of static bed height in the upper fluidized bed on particle flow behavior in the lower riser was investigated experimentally. A restriction index of solids holdup was used to evaluate quantitatively the restrictive effect of the upper fluidized bed. Experimental results show that, under the restrictive effect of the upper fluidized bed, the riser could be divided into three regions in the longitudinal direction: accelerating, fully developed and restriction. The axial distribution of solids holdup in the riser is characterized by large solids holdup in the top and bottom sections and small solids holdup in the middle section. Overall solids holdup increased with increasing static bed height in the upper fluidized bed, while particle velocity decreased. Such restrictive effect of the upper fluidized bed could extend from the middle and top sections to the whole riser volume when riser outlet resistance is increased, which increases with increasing static bed height in the upper fluidized bed. The upper bed exerts the strongest restriction on the area close to the riser outlet.  相似文献

Hydrodynamics of 3-phase inverse fluidized bed is studied experimentally using low density particles for different liquid and gas velocities. The hydrodynamic characteristics studied include pressure drop, minimum liquid and gas fluidization velocities and phase holdups. The minimum liquid fluidization velocity determined using the bed pressure gradient, decreases with increase in gas velocity. The axial profiles of phase holdups shows that the liquid holdup increases along the bed height, whereas the solid holdup decreases down the bed. However, the gas holdup is almost uniform in the bed.  相似文献

Accurate information concerning riser inventory in a fluidized bed is required in some applications such as the calcium looping process,because it is related to the CO_2 capture efficiency of the system.In a circulating fluidized bed(CFB),the riser inventory is normally calculated from the riser pressure drop;however,the friction and the acceleration phenomena may have a significant influence on the total riser pressure drop.Therefore,deviation may occur in the calculation from the actual mass.For this reason the magnitude of the friction and the acceleration pressure drop in the entire riser is studied in small-scale risers.Two series of studies were performed:the first one in a scaled cold model riser of the 10 kW_(th)facility,and the second one in the 10kW_(th) fluidized bed riser under process conditions.The velocities were chosen to comply with the fluidization regimes suitable for the calcium looping process,namely,the turbulent and the fast.In cold-model experiments in a low-velocity turbulent fluidization regime,the actual weight(static pressure drop) of the particles is observed more than the weight calculated from a recorded pressure drop.This phenomenon is also repeated in pilot plant conditions.In the cold-model setup,the friction and acceleration pressure drop became apparent in the fast fluidization regime,and increased as the gas velocity rose.Within calcium looping conditions in the pilot plant operation,the static pressure drop was observed more than the recorded pressure drop.Therefore,as a conservative approach,the influence of friction pressure drop may be neglected while calculating the solid inventory of the riser.The concept of transit inventory is introduced as a fraction of total inventory,which lies in freefall zones of the CFB system.This fraction increases as gas velocity rises.  相似文献

Supercritical water (SCW) fluidized bed is a new reactor concept for hydrogen production from biomass or coal gasification. In this paper, a comparative study on flow structure and bubble dynamics in a supercritical water fluidized bed and a gas fluidized bed was carried out using the discrete element method (DEM). The results show that supercritical water condition reduces the incipient fluidization velocity, changes regime transitions, i.e. a homogeneous fluidization was observed when the superficial velocity is in the range of the minimum fluidization velocity and minimum bubbling velocity even the solids behave as Geldart B powders in the gas fluidized bed. Bubbling fluidization in the supercritical water fluidized bed was formed after superficial velocity exceeds the minimum bubbling velocity, as in the gas fluidized bed. Bubble is one of the most important features in fluidized bed, which is also the emphasis in this paper. Bubble growth was effectively suppressed in the supercritical water fluidized bed, which resulted in a more uniform flow structure. By analyzing a large number of bubbles, bubble dynamic characteristics such as diameter distribution, frequency, rising path and so on, were obtained. It is found that bubble dynamic characteristics in the supercritical water fluidized bed differ a lot from that in the gas fluidized bed, and there is a better fluidization quality induced by the bubble dynamics in the supercritical water fluidized bed.  相似文献

The removal of volatile organic compounds by photocatalytic degradation is one of the safest and most effective ways of removing pollutants from the air. This process is highly affected by the type of reactor, light exposure, and hydrodynamics. For scale up purposes, continuous reactors with high capacity are required for treating large amounts of feedstock. In this work, two types of reactors based on different hydrodynamics, fluidized and spouted reactors, were designed to work under light irradiation inside the reactor. The efficiency of the reactors for volatile organic compound removal from high flow rates of air under Hg lamp irradiation using N–F-TiO2 photocatalyst was investigated. The performance of the fluidized bed and spouted bed were evaluated and compared at the same weight hourly space velocity of feed stream through the reactor. The results revealed that 80% of the initial acetaldehyde was removed in the fluidized bed after about 200 min, while in the spouted bed the acetaldehyde was totally removed after about 120 min.  相似文献

A novel gas fluidized-bed heat exchanger with a very small static bed height has been developed for a heat-exchanging system using a low-pressure fan. This fluidized bed is composed of a multislit distributor, a single row of 8 mm diameter tubes, and glass beads 48–195 μm in diameter. The measured performance of heat transfer is excellent and that of fluidization is satisfactory, in spite of the static bed height being as small as 13 mm. In the best case, the test fluidized bed exhibited a heat transfer performance comparable to that of a conventional fluidized bed with a perforated plate distributor and a static bed height of 150 mm, and showed one-fourteenth the pressure loss.  相似文献

A fluid dynamic model for a gas-solid circulating fluidized bed (CFB) designed using two coupled riser reactors is developed and implemented numerically with code programmed in Matlab. The fluid dynamic model contains heat and species mass balances to calculate temperatures and compositions for a carbonation/calcination loop process. Because of the high computational costs required to resolve the three-dimensional phenomena, a model representing a trade-offbetween computational time requirements and accuracy is developed. For dynamic processes with a solid flux between the two reactor units that depends on the fluid dynamics of both risers, a dynamic one-dimensional two-fluid model is sufficient. A two-fluid model using the constant particle viscosity closure for the stress term is used for the solid phase, and an algebraic turbulence model is applied to the gas phase. The numerical model implementa- tion is based on the finite volume method with a staggered grid scheme. The exchange of solids between the reactor units constituting the circulating fluidized bed (solid flux) is implemented through additional mass source/sink terms in the continuity equations of the two phases, For model validation, a relevant experimental analysis provided in the literature is reproduced by the numerical simulations, The numerical analysis indicates that sufficient heat integration between the two reactor units is important for the performance of the circulating fluidized bed system, The two-fluid model performs fairly well for this chemical process operated in a CFB designed as two coupled riser reactors. Further analysis and optimization of the solution algorithms and the reactor coupling strategy is warranted.  相似文献

Pressure fluctuation data measured in a series of fluidized beds with diameters of 0.05, 0.1, 0.29, 0.60 and 1.56 m showed that the maximum amplitude or standard deviation increased with increasing the superficial gas velocity and static bed height for relatively shallow beds and became insensitive to the increase in static bed height in relatively deep beds. The amplitude appeared to be less dependent on the measurement location in the dense bed. Predictions based on bubble passage, bubble eruption at the upper bed surface and bed oscillation all failed to explain all observed trends and underestimated the amplitude of pressure fluctuations, suggesting that the global pressure fluctuations in gas-solids bubbling fluidized beds are the superposition of local pressure variations, bed oscillations and pressure waves generated from the bubble formation in the distributor region, bubble coalescence during their rise and bubble eruption at the upper bed surface.  相似文献

Supercritical water fluidized bed is a new reactor concept for biomass gasification. In this paper, an experimental study on the hydrodynamics of a supercritical water fluidized bed was conducted. The frictional pressure drops of a fixed bed and a fluidized bed were measured for a temperature ranging from 633 to 693 K and pressure ranging from 23 to 27 MPa. The results show that the Ergun formula for calculating the frictional pressure drop of a fixed bed can still be applied in supercritical water conditions. The average deviation between Ergun formula and experiment results is 13.3%. A predicting correlation for the minimum fluidization velocity in a supercritical water fluidized bed was obtained based on the experimental results of a fixed bed and the fluidized bed pressure drop. The average error between the correlation and experiment results was about 3.1%. The results in this paper are useful for the design of SCW fluidized bed.  相似文献

An ultra-fast X-ray tomographic scanner is applied to study the hydrodynamics in a bubbling fluidized bed with and without vertical internals (e.g., heat exchanger tubes). The objective of this study is to understand the influence of vertical internals on hydrodynamic properties such as bubble volume, size and velocity and to provide measurement data for the design and scale-up of catalytic bubbling fluidized bed reactors with vertical internals. With these new measurements, correlations of bubble properties can be developed to reliably scale-up bubbling fluidized beds with vertical internals. For the investigated reactor with Geldart A/B particles, no relation between bubble size and velocity was observed for individual bubbles, i.e.; smaller bubbles tend to rise with higher velocities. A significant reduction in bubble size and sharpening of the bubble size distribution was generally obtained for a bed with vertical internals.  相似文献

Most existing models for predicting bubble size and bubble frequency have been developed for freely bubbling fluidized beds. Accurate prediction of bubbling behavior in deep fluidized beds, however, has been a challenge due to the higher degree of bubble coalescence and break up, high probability of the slugging regime, partial fluidization, and chaotic behavior in the bubbling regime. In this work, the bubbling and fluidization behavior of potash particles was investigated in a deep fluidized bed employing a twin-plane electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) system. Solid volume fraction, average bubble velocity, average bubble diameter, and bubble frequency in both bubbling and slugging regimes were measured at two different bed height ratios (H/D = 3.5 and H/D = 3.78). This work is the first to illustrate a sequential view of bubbles at different superficial gas velocities in a fluidized bed. The results show that both the bubble diameter and rising velocity increased with increasing the superficial gas velocity for the two bed heights, with larger values observed in the deeper bed compared to the shallower one. Predicted values for bubble diameter, bubble rise velocity and bubble frequency from different models are compared with the experimental data obtained from the ECT system in this work. Good agreement has been achieved between the values predicted by the previous models and the experimental data for the bubble diameter and bubble rise velocity with an average absolute deviation of 16% and 15% for the bed height of 49 cm and 13% and 8% for the bed height of 53 cm, respectively.  相似文献

Static electricity has an important effect on gas–solid fluidized bed reactor fluidization performance. In the process of fluidization, electrostatic interaction between particles will obviously accelerate particle agglomerate formation, which consequently reduces the fluidization performance. Pulsed gas flow injection is an efficient method to enhance particle mixing, thereby weakening the occurrence of particle agglomerate. In this study, the two-dimensional hybrid pulsed fluidized bed is established. The flow characteristics are studied by using the coupled CFD-DEM numerical simulation model considering electrostatic effects. Influences of different pulsed frequencies and gas flow ratios on fluidized bed fluidization performance are investigated to obtain the optimal pulsed gas flow condition. Results show that in the presence of static electricity, the bubble generation position is lower, which is conducive to the particle flow. Pulsed gas flow can increase the particle velocity and improve the diffusion ability. The bubble generation time is different at different frequencies, and the frequency of 2.5 Hz has the most obvious effect on the flow characteristics. Different gas flow ratios have significant impacts on the particle movement amplitude. When the pulse gas flow accounts for a large ratio, the particle agglomerate tends to be larger. Therefore, in order to improve the fluidization effect, the ratio of pulsed gas flow to stable gas flow should be appropriately reduced to 0.5 or less.  相似文献
