MP2 and DFT calculations with correlation consistent basis sets indicate that isolated linear anionic dialkylgold(I) complexes form moderately strong (ca. 10 kcal mol?1) Au???H hydrogen bonds with single H2O molecules as donors in the absence of sterically demanding substituents. Relativistic effects are critically important in the attraction. Such bonds are significantly weaker in neutral, strong σ‐donor N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes (ca. 5 kcal mol?1). The overall association (>11 kcal mol?1), however, is strengthened by co‐operative, synergistic classical hydrogen bonding when the NHC ligands bear NH units. Further manipulation of the interaction by ligands positioned trans to the carbene, is possible.  相似文献

The C?H activation in the tandem, “merry‐go‐round”, [(dppp)Rh]‐catalyzed (dppp=1,3‐bis(diphenylphosphino)propane), four‐fold addition of norborene to PhB(OH)2 has been postulated to occur by a C(alkyl)?H oxidative addition to square‐pyramidal RhIII?H species, which in turn undergoes a C(aryl)?H reductive elimination. Our DFT calculations confirm the RhI/RhIII mechanism. At the IEFPCM(toluene, 373.15 K)/PBE0/DGDZVP level of theory, the oxidative addition barrier was calculated to be 12.9 kcal mol?1, and that of reductive elimination was 5.0 kcal mol?1. The observed selectivity of the reaction correlates well with the relative energy barriers of the cycle steps. The higher barrier (20.9 kcal mol?1) for norbornyl–Rh protonation ensures that the reaction is steered towards the 1,4‐shift (total barrier of 16.3 kcal mol?1), acting as an equilibration shuttle. The carborhodation (13.2 kcal mol?1) proceeds through a lower barrier than the protonation (16.7 kcal mol?1) of the rearranged aryl–Rh species in the absence of o‐ or m‐substituents, ensuring multiple carborhodations take place. However, for 2,5‐dimethylphenyl, which was used as a model substrate, the barrier for carborhodation is increased to 19.4 kcal mol?1, explaining the observed termination of the reaction at 1,2,3,4‐tetra(exo‐norborn‐2‐yl)benzene. Finally, calculations with (Z)‐2‐butene gave a carborhodation barrier of 20.2 kcal mol?1, suggesting that carborhodation of non‐strained, open‐chain substrates would be disfavored relative to protonation.  相似文献

Although supramolecular chemistry is traditionally an experimental discipline, computations have emerged as important tools for the understanding of supramolecules. We have explored how well commonly used density functional theory quantum mechanics and polarizable continuum solvation models can calculate binding affinities of host‐guest systems. We report the calculation of binding affinities for eight host–guest complexes and compare our results to experimentally measured binding free energies that span the range from ?2.3 to ?6.1 kcal mol?1. These systems consist of four hosts (biotin[6]uril, triphenoxymethane, cryptand, and bis‐thiourea) with different halide ions (F?, Cl?, Br?) in various media including organic and aqueous. The mean average deviation (MAD) of calculated from measured ΔGa is 2.5 kcal mol?1 when using B3LYP‐D3 with either CPCM or PCM. This MAD value lowers even more by eliminating two outliers: 1.1 kcal mol?1 for CPCM and 1.2 kcal mol?1 for PCM. The best DFT and implicit solvation model combination that we have studied is B3LYP?D3 with either CPCM or PCM.  相似文献

Radical–molecule complexes associated with the hydroperoxyl radical (HOO) play an important role in atmospheric chemistry. Herein, the nature of the coupling interactions between sulfurous acid (H2SO3) and the HOO radical is systematically investigated at the B3LYP/6‐311++G(3df,3pd) level of theory in combination with the atoms in molecules (AIM) theory, the natural bond orbital (NBO) method, and energy decomposition analyses (EDA). Eight stable stationary points possessing double H‐bonding features were located on the H2SO3???HOO potential energy surface. The largest binding energies of ?12.27 and ?11.72 kcal mol?1 are observed for the two most stable complexes, where both of them possess strong double intermolecular H‐bonds of partially covalence. Moreover, the characteristics of the IR spectra for the two most stable complexes are discussed to provide some help for their possible experimental identification.  相似文献

In this work, a density function theory (DFT) study is presented for the HNS/HSN isomerization assisted by 1–4 water molecules on the singlet state potential energy surface (PES). Two modes are considered to model the catalytic effect of these water molecules: (i) water molecule(s) participate directly in forming a proton transfer loop with HNS/HSN species, and (ii) water molecules are out of loop (referred to as out‐of‐loop waters) to assist the proton transfer. In the first mode, for the monohydration mechanism, the heat of reaction is 21.55 kcal · mol?1 at the B3LYP/6‐311++G** level. The corresponding forward/backward barrier lowerings are obtained as 24.41/24.32 kcal · mol?1 compared with the no‐water‐assisting isomerization barrier T (65.52/43.87 kcal · mol?1). But when adding one water molecule on the HNS, there is another special proton‐transfer isomerization pathway with a transition state 10T′ in which the water is out of the proton transfer loop. The corresponding forward/backward barriers are 65.89/65.89 kcal · mol?1. Clearly, this process is more difficult to follow than the R–T–P process. For the two‐water‐assisting mechanism, the heat of reaction is 19.61 kcal · mol?1, and the forward/backward barriers are 32.27/12.66 kcal · mol?1, decreased by 33.25/31.21 kcal · mol?1 compared with T. For trihydration and tetrahydration, the forward/backward barriers decrease as 32.00/12.60 (30T) and 37.38/17.26 (40T) kcal · mol?1, and the heat of reaction decreases by 19.39 and 19.23 kcal · mol?1, compared with T, respectively. But, when four water molecules are involved in the reactant loop, the corresponding energy aspects increase compared with those of the trihydration. The forward/backward barriers are increased by 5.38 and 4.66 kcal · mol?1 than the trihydration situation. In the second mode, the outer‐sphere water effect from the other water molecules directly H‐bonded to the loop is considered. When one to three water molecules attach to the looped water in one‐water in‐loop‐assisting proton transfer isomerization, their effects on the three energies are small, and the deviations are not more than 3 kcal · mol?1 compared with the original monohydration‐assisting case. When adding one or two water molecules on the dihydration‐assisting mechanism, and increasing one water molecule on the trihydration, the corresponding energies also are not obviously changed. The results indicate that the forward/backward barriers for the three in‐loop water‐assisting case are the lowest, and the surrounding water molecules (out‐of‐loop) yield only a small effect. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ab initio calculations at the MP2 and CCSD(T) levels of theory have disclosed the conceivable existence of fluorine‐coordinated complexes of HHeF with alkali‐metal ions and molecules M+ (M+=Li+–Cs+), M+–OH2, M+–NH3 (M+=Li+, Na+), and MX (M=Li, Na; X=F, Cl, Br). All these ligands L induce a shortening of the H? He distance and a lengthening of the He? F distance accompanied by consistent blue‐ and redshifts, respectively, of the H? He and He? F stretching modes. These structural effects are qualitatively similar to those predicted for other investigated complexes of the noble gas hydrides HNgY, but are quantitatively more pronounced. For example, the blueshifts of the H? He stretching mode are exceptionally large, ranging between around 750 and 1000 cm?1. The interactions of HHeF with the ligands investigated herein also enhance the (HHe)+F? dipole character and produce large complexation energies of around 20–60 kcal mol?1. Most of the HHeF–L complexes are indeed so stable that the three‐body dissociation of HHeF into H+He+F, exothermic by around 25–30 kcal mol?1, becomes endothermic. This effect is, however, accompanied by a strong decrease in the H? He? F bending barrier. The complexation energies, ΔE, and the bending barriers, E*, are, in particular, related by the inverse relationship E*(kcal mol?1)=6.9exp[?0.041ΔE(kcal mol?1)]. Therefore the HHeF? L complexes, which are definitely stable with respect to H+He+F+L (ΔE≈25–30 kcal mol?1), are predicted to have bending barriers of only 0.5–2 kcal mol?1. Overall, our calculations cast doubt on the conceivable stabilization of HHeF by complexation.  相似文献

In this study, we theoretically investigated the mechanism underlying the high‐valent mono‐oxo‐rhenium(V) hydride Re(O)HCl2(PPh3)2 ( 1 ) catalyzed hydrosilylation of C?N functionalities. Our results suggest that an ionic SN2‐Si outer‐sphere pathway involving the heterolytic cleavage of the Si?H bond competes with the hydride pathway involving the C?N bond inserted into the Re?H bond for the rhenium hydride ( 1 ) catalyzed hydrosilylation of the less steric C?N functionalities (phenylmethanimine, PhCH=NH, and N‐phenylbenzylideneimine, PhCH=NPh). The rate‐determining free‐energy barriers for the ionic outer‐sphere pathway are calculated to be ~28.1 and 27.6 kcal mol?1, respectively. These values are slightly more favorable than those obtained for the hydride pathway (by ~1–3 kcal mol?1), whereas for the large steric C?N functionality of N,1,1‐tri(phenyl)methanimine (PhCPh=NPh), the ionic outer‐sphere pathway (33.1 kcal mol?1) is more favorable than the hydride pathway by as much as 11.5 kcal mol?1. Along the ionic outer‐sphere pathway, neither the multiply bonded oxo ligand nor the inherent hydride moiety participate in the activation of the Si?H bond.  相似文献

In the title compound, C10H7NO3·H2O, the zwitterionic organic molecules and the water molecules are connected by N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds to form ribbons, and π–π stacking interactions expand these ribbons into a three‐dimensional net. The energies of these hydrogen bonds adopt values typical for mildly weak interactions (3.33–7.75 kcal mol−1; 1 kcal mol−1 = 4.184 kJ mol−1). The total π–π stacking interactions between aromatic molecules can be classified as mildly strong (energies of 15.3 and 33.9 kcal mol−1), and they are made up of multiple constituent π–π interactions between six‐membered rings. The short intermolecular C—H...O contact between two zwitterionic molecules is nonbonding in character.  相似文献

The formic acid catalyzed gas‐phase reaction between H2O and SO3 and its reverse reaction are respectively investigated by means of quantum chemical calculations at the CCSD(T)//B3LYP/cc‐pv(T+d)z and CCSD(T)//MP2/aug‐cc‐pv(T+d)z levels of theory. Remarkably, the activation energy relative to the reactants for the reaction of H2O with SO3 is lowered through formic acid catalysis from 15.97 kcal mol?1 to ?15.12 and ?14.83 kcal mol?1 for the formed H2O ??? SO3 complex plus HCOOH and the formed H2O ??? HCOOH complex plus SO3, respectively, at the CCSD(T)//MP2/aug‐cc‐pv(T+d)z level. For the reverse reaction, the energy barrier for decomposition of sulfuric acid is reduced to ?3.07 kcal mol?1 from 35.82 kcal mol?1 with the aid of formic acid. The results show that formic acid plays a strong catalytic role in facilitating the formation and decomposition of sulfuric acid. The rate constant of the SO3+H2O reaction with formic acid is 105 times greater than that of the corresponding reaction with water dimer. The calculated rate constant for the HCOOH+H2SO4 reaction is about 10?13 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 in the temperature range 200–280 K. The results of the present investigation show that formic acid plays a crucial role in the cycle between SO3 and H2SO4 in atmospheric chemistry.  相似文献

It was established that the cytosine·thymine (C·T) mismatched DNA base pair with cis‐oriented N1H glycosidic bonds has propeller‐like structure (|N3C4C4N3| = 38.4°), which is stabilized by three specific intermolecular interactions–two antiparallel N4H…O4 (5.19 kcal mol?1) and N3H…N3 (6.33 kcal mol?1) H‐bonds and a van der Waals (vdW) contact O2…O2 (0.32 kcal mol?1). The C·T base mispair is thermodynamically stable structure (ΔGint = ?1.54 kcal mol?1) and even slightly more stable than the A·T Watson–Crick DNA base pair (ΔGint = ?1.43 kcal mol?1) at the room temperature. It was shown that the C·T ? C*·T* tautomerization via the double proton transfer (DPT) is assisted by the O2…O2 vdW contact along the entire range of the intrinsic reaction coordinate (IRC). The positive value of the Grunenberg's compliance constants (31.186, 30.265, and 22.166 Å/mdyn for the C·T, C*·T*, and TSC·T ? C*·T*, respectively) proves that the O2…O2 vdW contact is a stabilizing interaction. Based on the sweeps of the H‐bond energies, it was found that the N4H…O4/O4H…N4, and N3H…N3 H‐bonds in the C·T and C*·T* base pairs are anticooperative and weaken each other, whereas the middle N3H…N3 H‐bond and the O2…O2 vdW contact are cooperative and mutually reinforce each other. It was found that the tautomerization of the C·T base mispair through the DPT is concerted and asynchronous reaction that proceeds via the TSC·T ? C*·T* stabilized by the loosened N4? H? O4 covalent bridge, N3H…N3 H‐bond (9.67 kcal mol?1) and O2…O2 vdW contact (0.41 kcal mol?1). The nine key points, describing the evolution of the C·T ? C*·T* tautomerization via the DPT, were detected and completely investigated along the IRC. The C*·T* mispair was revealed to be the dynamically unstable structure with a lifetime 2.13·× 10?13 s. In this case, as for the A·T Watson–Crick DNA base pair, activates the mechanism of the quantum protection of the C·T DNA base mispair from its spontaneous mutagenic tautomerization through the DPT. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The transition metal tetra‐ and trinorbornyl bromide complexes, M(nor)4 (M=Fe, Co, Ni) and Ni(nor)3Br (nor=1‐bicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐1‐yl) and their homolytic fragmentations were studied computationally using hybrid density functional theory (DFT) at the B3PW91 and B3PW91‐D3 dispersion‐corrected levels. Experimental structures were well replicated; the dispersion correction resulted in shortened M?C bond lengths for the stable complexes, and it was found that Fe(nor)4 receives a remarkable 45.9 kcal mol?1 stabilization from the dispersion effects whereas the tetragonalized Co(nor)4 shows stabilization of 38.3 kcal mol?1. Ni(nor)4 was calculated to be highly tetragonalized with long Ni?C bonds, providing a rationale for its current synthetic inaccessibility. Isodesmic exchange evaluation for Fe(nor)4 confirmed that dispersion force attraction between norbornyl substituents is fundamental to the stability of these species.  相似文献

We report a novel mechanism for the interconversion of 2‐hydroxypropanal with its more‐stable ketone isomer hydroxyacetone. Reaction proceeds via concerted transfer of two H atoms, requires a barrier of only ~40 kcal mol?1, bypasses the enediol intermediate, and is general for α‐hydroxy carbonyls. A similar isomerization mechanism is shown to persist for β, γ, and δ‐hydroxy carbonyls; these compounds are skeletal forms of the monosaccharides and this work, therefore, discloses the gas‐phase mechanism for aldose‐ketose isomerization. As an example, the isomerization of glyceraldehyde to dihydroxyacetone is shown to proceed via this mechanism with a barrier of 31 kcal mol?1. Rate coefficients and thermochemical properties are reported for the isomerization of 2‐hydroxypropanal and hydroxyacetone for use in detailed kinetic models. Additionally, RRKM theory k (E ) values for this reaction suggest that it may transpire in the troposphere following solar excitation.  相似文献

Electrophilic terminal phosphinidene complexes [Ar‐Ar‐P‐W(CO)5] (Ar‐Ar: biaryl or an analogue thereof) undergo a spontaneous insertion of the phosphorus atom into the vicinal C? H bonds to give annelated phospholes. Twelve examples are described, including biphenyl, thienyl, pyrrolyl, and benzofuryl groups as biaryl moieties. The activation energy of the insertion reaction is quite low (about 2 kcal mol?1).  相似文献

Although the two polymorphic modifications, (I) and (II), of the title compound, C13H10N2O, crystallize in the same space group (P21/c), their asymmetric units have Z′ values of 1 and 2, respectively. These are conformational polymorphs, since the molecules in phases (I) and (II) adopt different rotations of the phenyl ring with respect the central 2‐cyanocarboxyaminoprop‐2‐enyl fragment. Calculations of crystal packing using Cerius2 [Molecular Simulations (1999). 9685 Scranton Road, San Diego, CA 92121, USA] have shown that (I) is more stable than (II), by 1.3 kcal mol?1 for the crystallographically determined structures and by 1.56 kcal mol?1 for the optimized structures (1 kcal mol?1 = 4.184 kJ mol?1). This difference is mainly attributed to the different strengths of the hydrogen bonding in the two forms.  相似文献

We have used model tripeptides GXW (with X being one of the amino acid residues glycine (G), alanine (A), leucine (L), phenylalanine (F), glutamic acid (E), histidine (H), lysine (K), or arginine (R)) to study the effects of the basicity of the amino acid residue on the radical migrations and dissociations of odd‐electron molecular peptide radical cations M.+ in the gas phase. Low‐energy collision‐induced dissociation (CID) experiments revealed that the interconvertibility of the isomers [G.XW]+ (radical centered on the N‐terminal α‐carbon atom) and [GXW].+ (radical centered on the π system of the indolyl ring) generally increased upon increasing the proton affinity of residue X. When X was arginine, the most basic amino acid, the two isomers were fully interconvertible and produced almost identical CID spectra despite the different locations of their initial radical sites. The presence of the very basic arginine residue allowed radical migrations to proceed readily among the [G.RW]+ and [GRW].+ isomers prior to their dissociations. Density functional theory calculations revealed that the energy barriers for isomerizations among the α‐carbon‐centered radical [G.RW]+, the π‐centered radical [GRW].+, and the β‐carbon‐centered radical [GRWβ.]+ (ca. 32–36 kcal mol−1) were comparable with those for their dissociations (ca. 32–34 kcal mol−1). The arginine residue in these GRW radical cations tightly sequesters the proton, thereby resulting in minimal changes in the chemical environment during the radical migrations, in contrast to the situation for the analogous GGW system, in which the proton is inefficiently stabilized during the course of radical migration.  相似文献

The adsorption and the mechanism of the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane over VO2‐exchanged MCM‐22 are investigated by DFT calculations using the M06‐L functional, which takes into account dispersion contributions to the energy. The adsorption energies of propane are in good agreement with those from computationally much more demanding MP2 calculations and with experimental results. In contrast, B3LYP binding energies are too small. The reaction begins with the movement of a methylene hydrogen atom to the oxygen atom of the VO2 group, which leads to an isopropyl radical bound to a HO? V? O intermediate. This step is rate determining with the apparent activation energy of 30.9 kcal mol?1, a value within the range of experimental results for ODH over other silica supports. In the propene formation step, the hydroxyl group is the more reactive group requiring an apparent activation energy of 27.7 kcal mol?1 compared to that of the oxy group of 40.8 kcal mol?1. To take the effect of the extended framework into account, single‐point calculations on 120T structures at the same level of theory are performed. The apparent activation energy is reduced to 28.5 kcal mol?1 by a stabilizing effect caused by the framework. Reoxidation of the catalyst is found to be important for the product release at the end of the reaction.  相似文献

Dodecaborate anions of the type B12X122? and B12X11Y2? (X=H, Cl, Br, I and Y=OH, SH, NH3+, NR3+) form strong (Ka up to 106 L mol?1, for B12Br122?) inclusion complexes with γ‐cyclodextrin (γ‐CD). The micromolar affinities reached are the highest known for this native CD. The complexation exhibits highly negative enthalpies (up to ?25 kcal mol?1) and entropies (TΔS up to ?18.4 kcal mol?1, both for B12I122?), which position these guests at the bottom end of the well‐known enthalpy‐entropy correlation for CDs. The high driving force can be traced back to a chaotropic effect, according to which chaotropic anions have an intrinsic affinity to hydrophobic cavities in aqueous solution. In line with this argument, salting‐in effects revealed dodecaborates as superchaotropic dianions.  相似文献

The reaction conditions of the oxidative polycondensation of 2‐[(pyridine‐2‐yl‐methylene) amino] phenol (2‐PMAP) with air O2, H2O2, and NaOCl were studied in an aqueous alkaline medium between 60 and 90 °C. Oligo‐2‐[(pyridine‐2‐yl‐methylene) amino] phenol (O‐2‐PMAP) was characterized with 1H NMR, Fourier transform infrared, ultraviolet–visible, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), and elemental analysis techniques. Moreover, solubility testing of the oligomer was performed in polar and nonpolar organic solvents. With the NaOCl, H2O2, and air O2 oxidants, the conversions of 2‐PMAP into O‐2‐PMAP were 98, 87, and 62%, respectively, in an aqueous alkaline medium. According to SEC, the number‐average molecular weight, weight‐average molecular weight, and polydispersity index of O‐2‐PMAP were 2262 g mol?1, 2809 g mol?1, and 1.24 with NaOCl, 3045 g mol?1, 3861 g mol?1, and 1.27 with air O2, and 1427 g mol?1, 1648 g mol?1, and 1.16 with air H2O2, respectively. Also, thermogravimetric analysis showed that O‐2‐PMAP was stable against thermooxidative decomposition. The weight loss of O‐2‐PMAP was 96.68% at 900 °C. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The mechanism of imine reduction by formic acid with a single‐site iridicycle catalyst has been investigated by density functional theory (DFT), NMR spectroscopy, and kinetic measurements. The NMR and kinetic studies suggest that the transfer hydrogenation is turnover‐limited by the hydride formation step. The calculations reveal that, amongst a number of possibilities, hydride formation from the iridicycle and formate probably proceeds by an ion‐pair mechanism, whereas the hydride transfer to the imino bond occurs in an outer‐sphere manner. In the gas phase, in the most favourable pathway, the activation energies in the hydride formation and transfer steps are 26–28 and 7–8 kcal mol?1, respectively. Introducing one explicit methanol molecule into the modelling alters the energy barrier significantly, reducing the energies to around 18 and 2 kcal mol?1 for the two steps, respectively. The DFT investigation further shows that methanol participates in the transition state of the turnover‐limiting hydride formation step by hydrogen‐bonding to the formate anion and thereby stabilising the ion pair.  相似文献
