Summary The spectrophotometric determination of traces of platinum with 2-pyridyl-2-thienyl-Z-ketoxime is described. Experimental parameters were evaluated and a study of diverse ion tolerance was carried out. Sensitivity was increased by the use of 4-cm cells. Beer's law was obeyed and the molar absorptivity at 473 nm was 7.11×10³.

Zusammenfassung Die spektrophotometrische Bestimmung von Spuren Platin mit 2-Pyridyl-2-thienyl-Z-ketoxim wurde beschrieben. Die experimentellen Parameter wurden bewertet und die Toleranz gegen verschiedene Fremdionen ermittelt. Durch Verwendung von 4-cm-Küvetten wurde die Grenze der Bestimmbarkeit herabgesetzt. Das Beersche Gesetz ist gültig; die molare Extinktion beträgt 7,11·10³.

Summary A procedure is described for spectrophotometric determination of trace amounts of cobalt in pure iron products with the reagent 2-pyridyl-2-thienyl--ketoxime. The sensitivity of the procedure is increased by the use of 4-cm cells. Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range 0.05 to 0.600 p. p. m. The precision and accuracy of the method are reported and the effect of diverse ions is described. The results of the cobalt analyses of a number of commercially available iron products are given.

Zusammenfassung Ein Verfahren zur spektrophotometrischen Bestimmung von Spuren Kobalt in reinem Eisen mit 2-Pyridyl-2-thienyl--ketoxim wurde angegeben. Dessen Empfindlichkeit wurde durch Verwendung von 4-cm-Küvetten erhöht. Das Beersche Gesetz gilt von 0,05 bis 0,600 ppm. Die Genauigkeit und Richtigkeit der Methode sowie der Einfluß verschiedener Ionen wurden dargelegt. Ergebnisse für eine Anzahl handelsüblicher Eisenprodukte wurden angeführt.

Summary The effects of methyl substitution of the 6-position in the pyridine group has been studied by comparing the reactivity characteristics of cobalt with 2-acetylpyridine oxime and 2-acetyl-6-methyl-pyridine oxime. A 31 ligand to metal ratio was found for the former and a 21 for the latter. These results are not in agreement with previous findings by other workers. Comparison is also made with three other pyridineketoximes.

Zusammenfassung Die Wirkung der Einführung der Methylgruppe in die 6-Stellung des Pyridinringes wurde durch Vergleich der Reaktivität von Kobalt mit 2-Acetylpyridinoxim bzw. mit 2-Acetyl-6-methylpyridinoxim untersucht. Für ersteres wurde ein Ligand:Metall-Verhältnis 31 gefunden, für letzteres ein Verhältnis 21. Diese Ergebnisse stimmen mit früheren Angaben anderer Autoren nicht überein. Auch drei weitere Pyridinketoxime wurden zum Vergleich herangezogen.

Summary 2-Pyridyl-2-thienyl-Z-ketoxime has been used to determine trace palladium in a noble-metals-bearing sulfide concentrate without a preconcentration requirement. An average palladium value of 0.346 oz/ton was obtained on a standard sample compared to the recommended value of 0.37 oz/ton.

Sensitivity was increased by the use of 4-cm cells, Beer's law was obeyed and the molar absorptivity at 477 nm was 2.34×10⁴.

Spektrophotometrische Bestimmung von Goldspuren mit 2-Pyridyl-2-thienyl-Z-ketoxim

Zusammenfassung Eine Extraktionsmethode zur spektrophotometrischen Goldbestimmung wurde beschrieben. Der Einfluß von pH, Zeit, Reagenskonzentration und verschiedenen Fremdionen wurde ermittelt. Die Empfindlichkeit wurde mittels 4-cm-Küvetten erhöht. Das Beersche Gesetz wird befolgt, die molare Extinktion bei 477 nm beträgt 2,34×10⁴.

Summary The comparative effects of the distribution of symmetrical alkyl ketoximes between water and chloroform, oxime hydrolysis, equilibration time and solubilities of the palladium (II) chloride oxime complexes in chloroform on the relative palladium extraction efficiency order have been investigated. The relative extraction order found is 4-heptanone oxime>3-pentanone oxime>acetoxime>5-nonanone oxime.

Zusammenfassung Der Einfluß der Verteilung symmetrischer Alkylketoxime zwischen Wasser und Chloroform, der Oximhydrolyse, der Gleichgewichtseinstellung und der Löslichkeit der Palladium(II)-Oxim-Komplexe in Chloroform auf die relative Extraktionsfolge wurde untersucht. Dabei wurde folgende Reihenfolge gefunden: 4-Heptanonoxim>3-Pentanonoxim 5-Nonanonoxim.

Summary A procedure is outlined for the quantitative separation ofg amounts of palladium from gram amounts of nickel, copper or iron in hydrochloric acid or hydrochloric and sulfuric acid solutions by the chloroform extraction of the 4-heptanone oxime complex of palladium(II) chloride. Using the outlined procedure approximately 0.2% of the copper, 0.06 % of the nickel and 0.05 % of the iron taken are co-extracted.

Zusammenfassung Ein Verfahren zur quantitativen Trennung von Mikrogrammengen Pd von Grammengen Ni, Cu oder Fe in salzsaurer oder salzsauer-schwefelsaurer Lösung durch Chloroformextraktion des 4-Heptanonoxim-Pd(II)chlorid-Komplexes wurde angegeben. Dabei werden ungefähr 0,2% Cu, 0,06% Ni und 9,05% Fe mitextrahiert.

Summary A procedure is outlined for the quantitative (i. e.>99.9%) extraction of the 4-heptanone oxime complex of palladium(II) chloride into chloroform from a 1M hydrochloric acid solution. The effects due to hydrochloric acid, alcohol and oxime concentrations are described. Cobalt(II) and Copper(II) are not extracted in macroscopic amounts.

Zusammenfassung Eine Arbeitsweise für die quantitative, d. h. 99,9%ige Extraktion der Komplexverbindung aus 4-Heptanonoxim und Palladium (II) chlorid mit Chloroform aus 1-m salzsaurer Lösung wurde beschrieben. Der Einfluß der Konzentrationen der Salzsäure, des Alkohols und des Oxims wurde angegeben. Kobalt(II) und Kupfer(II) werden nicht in merkbaren Mengen mitextrahiert.

Summary The results of a study of the chloroform extraction of silver(I) from aqueous nitric acid and aqueous nitrate ion solutions, employing 4-heptanone oxime as a complexing agent are outlined.The effects of nitric acid, sodium nitrate, 4-heptanone oxime, and silver (I) concentrations are described. Two models of the extraction process are used to explain the distribution ratios obtained at low and high nitric acid and nitrate ion concentrations.Measurement of recovery factors indicate that greater than 99.9% of the silver(I) taken at the 5-mg level per 50 ml of aqueous phase can be extracted.

Zusammenfassung Die Extraktion von Silber(I) aus wäßriger Salpetersäure- und Nitrationenlösung bei Gegenwart von 4-Heptanon als Komplexbildner mit Chloroform als Extraktionsmittel wurde untersucht. Der Einfluß der verschiedenen Lösungspartner wurde beschrieben. Zwei Modelle des Extraktionsvorganges wurden herangezogen, um die Verteilung bei geringer und bei hoher Konzentration von Salpetersäure und Nitrationen zu erklären. Die Bestimmung der Ausbeutefaktoren zeigt, daß 5 mg Silber zu mehr als 99,9% aus 50 ml wäßriger Phase extrahiert werden.
