We have studied the current–voltage characteristic of a system of long Josephson junctions taking into account the inductive and capacitive coupling. The dependence of the average time derivative of the phase difference on the bias current and spatiotemporal dependences of the phase difference and magnetic field in each junction are considered. The possibility of branching of the current–voltage characteristic in the region of zero field step, which is associated with different numbers of fluxons in individual Josephson junctions, is demonstrated. The current–voltage characteristic of the system of Josephson junctions is compared with the case of a single junction, and it is shown that the observed branching is due to coupling between the junctions. The intensity of electromagnetic radiation associated with motion of fluxons is calculated, and the effect of coupling between junctions on the radiation power is analyzed.  相似文献

We investigate the spin-flip effect on electronic transport in a nanostructure composed of two nonmagnetic (NM) leads separated by a periodic spacer. The spacer is composed of one-dimensional heterostructure formed by a sequence of magnetic (A) and nonmagnetic (B) sites periodically juxtaposed (as in a typical periodic quantum dot (QD)). The calculations are based on the tight-binding model and transfer matrix method, which compute the current–voltage characteristic within the Landauer–Büttiker formalism. Our main goal is to assess the contribution of the spin-flip scattering to the transport properties of such systems. The spin-dependent transport behavior can be controlled via a gate magnetic field and an applied voltage in the ballistic regime. Our results show that the conductance strongly depends on the configurations of the magnetic QD. The application of the predicted results may be useful in designing spin-valve devices, such as spin-polarized molecular transistors.  相似文献

The phase dynamics of a SQUID consisting of Josephson junctions with topologically nontrivial barriers has been studied. Its comparative analysis with the dynamics of a conventional SQUID has been performed. The current–voltage characteristics have been calculated. The dependence of the return current on the magnetic field has been found. It has been shown that the branch of the current–voltage characteristic corresponding to the resonance frequency in the case of the SQUID with nontrivial barriers is displaced by \(\sqrt 2 \) over voltage. This effect can be used for the detection of Majorana fermions.  相似文献

HTS bicrystal junctions up to 50 μm wide on sapphire substrates have been studied. The dependences of the critical current on the temperature and external magnetic field of these contacts have been measured. The irradiation of the Josephson junction on a sapphire substrate at the frequency of 73 GHz at the temperature of 77 K resulted in the appearance of Shapiro steps in the current–voltage characteristic (IVC) at the voltage of 150 μV. The possibility of using such contacts in voltage standards at the temperature of 77 K in the ranges of microwave and terahertz frequencies has been analyzed.  相似文献

The electric field induced in a type II superconductor foil by an a.c. magnetic field is rectified by the non-linear static voltage current characteristic of the superconductor when there is a static current, so that the static critical current seems to decrease.  相似文献

A method for detecting dark matter axions in which a dc SQUID serves as a detector is proposed. The SQUID is shown to be able to detect the magnetic field perturbations induced by its interaction with axions. The resonance signal appears as a current step in the SQUID current–voltage characteristic. The voltage of the step corresponds to the axion mass, while its height depends on the axion energy density in near-Earth space. The proposed method is aimed at detecting axions with masses ma ? 10–4 eV, which are of interest for both cosmology and particle physics.  相似文献

We have studied the effect of a stationary magnetic field on the production of ozone from air at atmospheric pressure by a negative corona discharge in a cylindrical electrode configuration. We used a stainless steel hollow needle placed at the axis of the cylindrical discharge chamber as a cathode. The outer wall of the cylinder was used as an anode. The vector of magnetic induction was perpendicular to the vector of current density. We found that: (a) the magnetic field extends the current voltage range of the discharge; (b) for the discharge in the Trichel pulses regime and in the pulseless glow regime, the magnetic field has no substantial effect on the discharge voltage or on the concentration of ozone that is produced; (c) for the discharge in the filamentary streamer regime for a particular current, the magnetic field increases the discharge voltage and consequently an approximately 30% higher ozone concentration can be obtained; (d) the magnetic field does not substantially increase the maximum ozone production yield. A major advantage of using a magnetic field is that the increase in ozone concentration produced by the discharge can be obtained without additional energy requirements.  相似文献

We consider the effects of electron scattering off a quantum magnetic impurity on the current–voltage characteristics of the helical edge of a two-dimensional topological insulator. We compute the backscattering contribution to the current along the edge for a general form of the exchange interaction matrix and arbitrary value of the magnetic impurity spin. We find that the differential conductance may exhibit a nonmonotonic dependence on the voltage with several extrema.  相似文献

In a typical superconducting coil made of BSCCO/Ag tape, both amplitude and direction of the magnetic field determine the critical current, resistive voltage and AC loss. The distribution of the magnetic field along and across the superconducting tape in a coil is rather complex. This gives rise to the question: how accurate can one predict the critical current, VI characteristic and AC loss of the AC coil from results of short sample measurements? To answer this question, we have measured and compared the characteristics of a short sample and a small coil employing 14 m of the same tape at 77 K. The comparison is performed as follows. First, a short sample is characterised with regard to the field dependence of the critical current, VI characteristic and the AC loss. Second, the distribution of the magnetic field along the tape in a coil is accurately calculated. From the data, the voltage along the tape and the loss of the tape in the coil are found. Finally, the resistive voltage and the AC loss of the complete coil are calculated and compared to measured AC losses in the frequency range of 0 to 160 Hz, typical for power applications.  相似文献

We show theoretically that in quantum wells subjected to a strong magnetic field the intersubband current peaks at magnetic field values, which reveal the underlying specific intersubband scattering mechanism. We have designed and grown a superlattice structure in which such current oscillations are clearly visible, and in which the transition from the purely single-electron to the mixed single- and two-electron scattering regimes can be observed by tuning the applied voltage bias. The measurements were conducted in ultrahigh magnetic fields (up to 45 T) to obtain the full spectrum of the current oscillations.  相似文献

We report a detailed theoretical study of current oscillation and dc-voltage-controlled chaotic dynamics in doped GaAs/AlAs resonant tunneling superlattices under crossed electric and magnetic fields. When the superlattice is biased at the negative differential velocity region, current self-oscillation is observed with proper doping concentration. The current oscillation mode and oscillation frequency can be affected by the dc voltage bias, doping density, and magnetic field. When an ac electric field with fixed amplitude and frequency is also applied to the system, different nonlinear properties show up in the external circuit with the change of dc voltage bias. We carefully study these nonlinear properties with different chaos-detecting methods.  相似文献

Jumps and hysteresis in discharge current are produced in a low-pressure (10?5 – 10?4 Torr). magnetic field free, thermionic argon plasma discharge by varying discharge voltage, neutral pressure, or filament temperature. This behavior can be attributed to a region of negative differential resistance in the voltage versus current characteristic of the discharge. A model is presented in order to understand the physical processes leading to this negative resistance.  相似文献

The variation of voltage, current and output power in a mercury arc plasma has been investigated in an axial magnetic field (0–1350 G) for three values of discharge current namely 3, 4 and 5 A. The voltage increases and current decreases almost linearly and the output power also increases with increase of the magnetic field. The conductivity value in magnetic field has been calculated and an analytical expression presented to represent the variation of conductivity in the magnetic field. Utilizing this expression the variation of output power with magnetic field can be explained.  相似文献

Using the general idea of the fluctuation–dissipation theorem we study a new contribution to the voltage fluctuations which is associated with the presence of radiation resistance. We consider the particular case of a solenoid immersed in a cavity with equilibrium radiation at temperature T. We prove that these new fluctuations are generated by the random magnetic field present in the cavity. These magnetic voltage fluctuations are shown to be experimentally distinguishable from the voltage fluctuations associated with the well known Nyquist noise. Accordingly we suggest feasible experiments to measure this magnetic noise. All the calculations are made within the context of Stochastic Electrodynamics, a theory in which the vacuum zero-point field is taken as a real electromagnetic field. We also study the average energy of an RLC circuit in thermodynamic equilibrium with the radiation.  相似文献

The influence of the fractal clusters of a normal phase, which act as pinning centers, on the dynamics of magnetic flux in percolative type-II superconductor is considered. The voltage–current characteristics of such a superconductor are obtained taking into account the effect of fractal properties of cluster boundaries on the magnetic flux trapping. It is revealed that the fractality reduces the electric field arising from magnetic flux motion and thereby raises the critical current of a superconductor.  相似文献

Superconducting Nb thin films with a spacing-graded array of holes were prepared by electron beam lithography. Two films with different hole gradients were fabricated. The ac-driven vortices were investigated in Nb superconductors with a spacing-graded array of holes. The measurements revealed pronounced rectified voltage when the vortex lattice is driven by an ac injected current. The rectified voltage is mainly caused by the strength of the vortex–vortex interaction. The rectified motion of a vortex is affected by the pinning potential of the spacing-graded array and the applied magnetic field. The vortex–vortex interaction strength changes the effective pinning landscape of the vortices and an asymmetric potential is formed. Vortices depin easily from high concentration to low concentration of pinning sites. In both samples, the ac-driven vortices exhibit a variety of dynamical responses and the rectified voltage is tunable with the applied magnetic field.  相似文献

We present an extensive study of a large, room temperature magnetoresistance (MR) effect in tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum sandwich devices. The effect is similar to that previously discovered in π-conjugated polymer devices. We characterize this effect and discuss its dependence on magnetic field direction, voltage, temperature, film thickness, and electrode materials. The MR effect reaches almost 10% at fields of 10 mT at room temperature. The effect shows only a weak temperature dependence and is independent of the sign and direction of the magnetic field. Measuring the devices' current-voltage characteristics, we find that the current depends on the voltage through a power-law. We find that the magnetic field changes the prefactor of the power-law. We also studied the effect of the magnetic field on the electroluminescence (MEL) of the devices and analyze the relationship between MR and MEL.  相似文献

We theoretically analyze the tunneling of electrons through a heterostructure with two barriers and a quantum well between them in a magnetic field perpendicular to the current. We take into account the contribution from electrons with various positions of the magnetic oscillator center to the current. The region of the Z-shaped current-voltage characteristic for the heterostructure is shown to narrow as the magnetic field strengthens. Our analysis reveals a critical magnetic field strength at which the Z-shaped current-voltage characteristic transforms into an N-shaped one. We compare our results with experimental data.  相似文献

We have theoretically studied current oscillation and chaotic dynamics in doped GaAsAlAs superlattices driven by crossed electric and magnetic fields. When the superlattice system is driven by a dc voltage, a stationary or dynamic electric-field domain can be obtained. We carefully studied the electric-field-domain dynamics and current self-oscillation which both display different modes with the change of magnetic field. When an ac electric field is also applied to the superlattice, a typical nonlinear dynamic system is constructed with the ac amplitude, ac frequency, and magnetic field as the control parameters. Different nonlinear behaviors show up when we tune the control parameters.  相似文献

We study spin-dependent electron transport properties of a thermally driven interacting quantum dot. When an external magnetic field is applied to the quantum dot, the effective transmissions of spin-up and spin-down electrons are separated from each other and have a perfect mirror symmetry with respect to the incident energy at a certain gate voltage. A pure spin current can be induced in the system and modulated by a magnetic field. Under certain magnetic field strengths, a larger pure spin current can be obtained at gate voltages with the values in a range, not just at a specific voltage. These results indicate that the system can be worked as a pure spin current generator.  相似文献
