In convex analysis when studying function spaces of continuous affine functions, notions of a geometrical character like faces, split and parallel faces, exposed or Archimedean faces were investigated in detail by many authors. In this paper we transfer these notions to a more general setting of Choquet theory of abstract function spaces. We prefer a direct functional analytic approach to the treatment of problems instead of using a transfer of a function space to its state space. Methods invoked are based mainly on a measure theory and basic tools of functional analysis and are different from ones using a geometric visualization.  相似文献

Let Cp(X) be the space of all continuous real-valued functions on a space X, with the topology of pointwise convergence. In this paper we show that Cp(X) is not domain representable unless X is discrete for a class of spaces that includes all pseudo-radial spaces and all generalized ordered spaces. This is a first step toward our conjecture that if X is completely regular, then Cp(X) is domain representable if and only if X is discrete. In addition, we show that if X is completely regular and pseudonormal, then in the function space Cp(X), Oxtoby's pseudocompleteness, strong Choquet completeness, and weak Choquet completeness are all equivalent to the statement “every countable subset of X is closed”.  相似文献

We define and study weakly analytic sets for function spaces. This concept generalizes the concept of weak analyticity for function algebras. We also define weak analyticity for the space of affine functions using the ideas of convexity. We show that it coincides with the same concept regarding it as a function space. An internal characterization of metric spaces which are absolute Borel sets of multiplicative classes is given. This characterization uses complete sequences of covers, a notion introduced by Frolík for characterizing Cech-complete spaces. We also show that the absolute Borel class of is determined by the uniform structure of the space of continuous functions ; however the case of absolute metric spaces is still open. More precisely, we prove that, for metrizable spaces and , if is a uniformly continuous surjection and is an absolute Borel set of multiplicative (resp., additive) class , , then is also an absolute Borel set of the same class. This result is new even if is a linear homeomorphism, and extends a result of Baars, de Groot, and Pelant which shows that the \v{C}ech-completeness of a metric space is determined by the linear structure of .

Let X be a Banach space, L ([0,1])XL 1([0,1]), with an unconditional basis. By the well-known stability property in X, there exists a unconditional basis {f n} m=1 , where f n in C([0,1]), nN. In this paper, we introduce the notion that X *has the singularity property of X *at a point t 0[0,1]. It is proved that if X *has the singularity property at a point t 0 [0,1], then there exists no orthonormal, fundamental system in C([0,1]) which forms an unconditional basis in X.  相似文献

Let X be a space, and let A be a zero-dimensional topological ring. In this paper we will consider a few natural questions that arise when studying the space C p (X, A), the ring of continuous functions from X to A, endowed with the topology of pointwise convergence. It will be shown that the zero-dimensionality of the codomain plays a vital role in this study. An upper and lower bound will be determined for the density of C p (X, A) using the density of A and the weight of X. The character of C p (X, A) will be computed, thus characterizing when C p (X, A) is metrizable. Lastly, we will consider the topological dual space of C p (X, A) and use it to prove a Nagata-like theorem.  相似文献
