The present work involves the synthesis of a series of Sm(2-x)Dy(x)Zr(2)O(7) compounds (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 2.0) by a controlled gel combustion process. The powders were thoroughly analyzed by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and diffuse-reflectance UV-visible spectroscopy. The powder XRD studies revealed the system to be single-phasic throughout with retention of pyrochlore-type ordering until 40 mol % of Dy(3+), beyond which the pyrochlore lattice gives way to the defect fluorite structure. Interestingly, Raman spectroscopic studies (as against XRD studies) showed retention of pyrochlore-type ordering throughout the homogeneity range of the compositions studied. This is perhaps the first study that reports retention of a weak pyrochlore-type superstructure in the Dy(2)Zr(2)O(7) system, which was otherwise known to crystallize in the defect fluorite system. The ionic conductivity measurements showed an increase in the activation energy (E(a)) with an increase in the mole percent of Dy(3+) owing to the decreased mobility with an increase in the degree of disorder. The system possesses a tunable band gap with varying amounts of Dy(3+). First-principles calculations were performed to support a decrease in the band gap of the doped system with an increase in the Dy(3+) content. The potential as photocatalysts of some of these compositions was explored, and they exhibited high photocatalytic activity for degradation of xylenol orange, with t(1/2) increasing from pure Sm(2)Zr(2)O(7) to pure Dy(2)Zr(2)O(7).  相似文献

Quaternary pyrochlore-type solid solutions, CaGdZrNb(1-x)Ta(x)O(7) (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1), were prepared by a high-temperature ceramic route. The pyrochlore phases of the compounds were confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The crystallographic parameters of the pyrochlore compounds were accurately determined by Rietveld analysis of the powder XRD data. The isovalent substitution of Ta in place of Nb at the B site can reveal the effect of chemical bonding on lattice thermal expansion and oxide ion conductivity because both Nb and Ta have the same ionic radius (0.64 ?). Lattice thermal expansion coefficients of the samples were calculated from high-temperature XRD measurements, and it was found that the thermal expansion coefficient decreases with substitution of Ta. Oxide ion conductivity measured by a two-probe method also shows the same trend with substitution of Ta, and this can be attributed to the high bond strength of the Ta-O bond compared to that of the Nb-O bond. Microstructural characterization using scanning electron microscopy proves that the size of the grains has a small effect on the oxide ion conductivity. Our studies established the role of chemical bonding in deciding the conductivity of pyrochlore oxides and confirmed that the 48f-48f mechanism of oxide ion conduction is dominant in pyrochlore oxides.  相似文献

New oxyfluorides Li(2x)Ca(1.5-x) square (0.5-x)M2O6F (M = Nb, Ta), belonging to the cubic pyrochlore structural type (Z = 8, a approximately 10.5 angstroms), were synthesized by solid state reaction for 0 < or = x < or = 0.5. XRD data allowed us to determine their structures from single crystals for the two alpha and beta-Ca(1.5) square (0.5)Nb2O6F forms and from powder samples for the others. This characterisation was completed by TEM and solid state 19F NMR experiments. For the Ca(1.5) square (0.5)M2O6F (x = 0) pyrochlore phases, the presence of a double ordering phenomenon is demonstrated, involving on one hand the Ca(2+) ions and the vacancies and on the other hand the oxide and the fluoride anions which are strictly located in the 8b sites of the Fd3m aristotype space group. The Ca(2+) ions/vacancies ordering leads to a reversible phase transition, a (P4(3)32) <--> beta (Fd3m). The 19F NMR study strongly suggests that, in the beta-phases, the fluoride ions are only on average at the centre of the Ca3 square tetrahedron. It shows that slightly different Ca-F distances occuring in alpha-Ca(1.5) square (0.5)Nb2O6F may be related to a more difficult thermal ionic and vacancies diffusion process than in the tantalate compound. This may explain the hysteresis phenomenon presented by the phase transition. A solid solution Li(2x)Ca(1.5-x) square (0.5-x) Ta2O6F (0 < or = x < or = 0.5) was prepared and the order-disorder phase transition observed for Ca(1.5) square (0.5)M2MO6F compounds disappears for all the other compositions where less or no more vacancies exist in the 16d sites. In the LiCaM2O6F compounds, the 19F NMR study allows us to determine the Ca(2+) and Li+ ions distributions around the fluoride ions and shows that the [FLi2Ca2] environment is clearly favoured.  相似文献

The thermal stability of a nanosized Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2 solid solution on a silica surface and the dispersion behavior of V2O5 over Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 have been investigated using XRD, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, HREM, and BET surface area techniques. Oxidative dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene was performed as a test reaction to assess the usefulness of the VOx/Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 catalyst. Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 (1:1:2 mol ratio based on oxides) was synthesized through a soft-chemical route from ultrahigh dilute solutions by adopting a deposition coprecipitation technique. A theoretical monolayer equivalent to 10 wt % V2O5 was impregnated over the calcined Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 sample (773 K) by an aqueous wet impregnation technique. The prepared V2O5/Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 sample was subjected to thermal treatments from 773 to 1073 K. The XRD measurements indicate the presence of cubic Ce0.75Zr0.25O2 in the case of Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2, while cubic Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 and tetragonal Ce0.16Zr0.84O2 in the case of V2O5/Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 when calcined at various temperatures. Dispersed vanadium oxide induces more incorporation of zirconium into the ceria lattice, thereby decreasing its lattice size and also accelerating the crystallization of Ce-Zr-O solid solutions at higher calcination temperatures. Further, it interacts selectively with the ceria portion of the composite oxide to form CeVO4. The RS measurements provide good evidence about the dispersed form of vanadium oxide and the CeVO4 compound. The HREM studies show the presence of small Ce-Zr-oxide particles of approximately 5 nm size over the surface of amorphous silica and corroborate with the results obtained from other techniques. The catalytic activity studies reveal the ability of vanadium oxide supported on Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2/SiO2 to efficiently catalyze the ODH of ethylbenzene at normal atmospheric pressure. The remarkable ability of Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O2 to prevent the deactivation of supported vanadium oxide leading to stable activity in the time-on-stream experiments and high selectivity to styrene are other important observations.  相似文献

The VUV-vis spectroscopic properties of Tb(3+) activated fluoro-apatite phosphors Ca(6)Ln(2-x)Tb(x)Na(2)(PO(4))(6)F(2) (Ln = Gd, La) were studied. The results show that phosphors Ca(6)Gd(2-x)Tb(x)Na(2)(PO(4))(6)F(2) with Gd(3+) ions as sensitizers have intense absorption in the VUV range. The emission color of both phosphors can be tuned from blue to green by changing the doping concentration of Tb(3+) under 172 nm excitation. The visible quantum cutting (QC) via cross relaxation between Tb(3+) ions was observed in cases with and without Gd(3+). Though QC can be realized in phosphors Ca(6)La(2-x)Tb(x)Na(2)(PO(4))(6)F(2), we found that Gd(3+)-containg phosphors have a higher QC efficiency, confirming that the Gd(3+) ion indeed plays an important role during the quantum cutting process. In addition, the energy transfer process from Gd(3+) to Tb(3+) as well as (5)D(3)-(5)D(4) cross relaxation was investigated and discussed in terms of luminescence spectra and decay curves.  相似文献

Ternary Gd(5-x)Zr(x)Si(4) silicides were synthesized by arc melting of the constituent elements and subsequent heat treatments. The Gd(5-x)Zr(x)Si(4) phases adopt the orthorhombic Gd(5)Si(4)-type (space group Pnma) structure for x≤ 0.25 and the tetragonal Zr(5)Si(4)-type (space group P4(1)2(1)2) structure for x≥ 1.0, respectively. The samples with intermediate compositions contain two phases. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals a preferential site occupancy for Zr on the three metal sites in the order of M3 > M2 > M1. Size arguments based on the local coordination environments suggest that the larger Gd atoms preferentially occupy the larger M1 site, while the smaller Zr atoms tend to occupy the smaller metal sites, M2 and M3. Tight-binding linear-muffin-tin orbital calculations illustrate a role of the metal-silicon bonds in the metal site occupation. An increase in the valence electron concentration through the Zr substitution weakens the Si-Si interactions but enhances the metal-silicon and metal-metal interactions. The Curie temperature of Gd(5-x)Zr(x)Si(4) decreases gradually with the increasing Zr content.  相似文献

Mixed oxides Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O(2) prepared by slow coprecipitation in NaOH were tested for NO(2) adsorption in dynamic conditions at room temperature. The samples were characterized before and after exposure to NO(2) by XRD, N(2)-adsorption, thermal analysis, potentiometric titration, and FT-IR. Mixed oxides show a better NO(2) adsorption capacity than the parent materials (CeO(2) and Zr(OH)(4)). This effect is linked to the presence of reduced cerium and oxygen vacancies induced by the addition of Zr(4+) cations to the structure. The results indicate that NO(2) reacts with Ce(3+) to form nitrite and nitrate species on the surface. The NO retention increases with an increase in the Zr(OH)(4) content. A decrease in the density of -OH groups on the surface after the exposure to NO(2), suggests their involvement in reactive adsorption of NO and/or NO(2). From the structural point of view, no real difference was observed on the Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O(2) materials before and after exposure to NO(2).  相似文献

The first gadolinium-based mixed-metal nitride clusterfullerenes Gd(x)Sc(3-x)N@C(80) (I) (1, x=2; 2, x=1) have been successfully synthesized by the reactive gas atmosphere method and isolated facilely by recycling high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The sum yield of 1 and 2 is 30-40 times higher than that of Gd(3)N@C(80) (I). Moreover, an enhanced relative yield of 2 over the Sc(3)N@C(80) (I) is achieved under the optimized synthesis conditions. According to the UV/Vis/NIR spectroscopic characterization, 1 and 2 are both stable fullerenes with large optical band-gaps while 1 has higher similarity to Gd(3)N@C(80) (I) and 2 resembles Sc(3)N@C(80) (I). The vibrational structures of 1 and 2 are studied by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy as well as density functional theory (DFT) computations. In particular, the structures of the encaged Gd(x)Sc(3-x)N clusters within 1 and 2 are analyzed.  相似文献

Bulk and nano sized pyrochlore of composition La(2-x)Gd(x)Zr(2)O(7) (x=0.025, 0.05, 0.075 and 0.1) have been prepared by sol-gel method. They are characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. The sintering temperature influences the particle size of the sample. The room temperature powder ESR of La(1.95)Gd(0.05)Zr(2)O(7) gave characteristic "U" spectrum. The influence of particle size on the ESR of Gd(3+) is investigated. Possible reason for the disappearance of "U" spectrum with increase in the particle size is given.  相似文献

A mixed borate and carbonate chloride Ba(2)(BO(3))(1-x)(CO(3))(x)Cl(1+x) was obtained by spontaneous crystallization from a high-temperature melt in open air. It crystallizes in the trigonal crystal system with space group of P3m?1 and lattice constants of a = 5.4708(8) ? and c = 10.640(2) ?. The structure can be viewed as an intergrowth of trigonal Ba(2)Mg(BO(3))(2) (001) slab and (111) slab of the cubic fluorite BaCl(2). During Fourier analysis of the single-crystal X-ray diffraction data, additional electron density was found locating at 1b (0, 0, 1/2) site and attributed to chlorine surplus, which was confirmed by chemical titration. Charge balance of the compound was found, unexpectedly in an acidic borate containing high-temperature melt, by partial CO(3)(2-) group substituting the BO(3)(3-) group. The existence of CO(3)(2-) anion in the crystal was detected by thermogravimetry-mass spectrum analysis and Raman spectrum. The transmittance spectrum shows that the crystal is transparent from ultraviolet to infrared with short-wavelength absorption edge at about 220 nm.  相似文献

Ce(x)Zr(1)(-)(x)O(2) solid solutions deposited over silica surface were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy (RS), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HREM) techniques in order to understand the role of silica support and the temperature stability of these composite oxides. For the purpose of comparison, an unsupported Ce(x)Zr(1)(-)(x)O(2) was also synthesized and subjected to characterization by various techniques. The Ce(x)Zr(1)(-)(x)O(2)/SiO(2) (CZ/S) (1:1:2 mole ratio based on oxides) was synthesized by depositing Ce(x)Zr(1)(-)(x)O(2) solid solution over a colloidal SiO(2) support by a deposition precipitation method and unsupported Ce(x)Zr(1)(-)(x)O(2) (CZ) (1:1 mole ratio based on oxides) was prepared by a coprecipitation procedure, and the obtained catalysts were subjected to thermal treatments from 773 to 1073 K. The XRD measurements disclose the presence of cubic phases with the composition Ce(0.75)Zr(0.25)O(2) and Ce(0.6)Zr(0.4)O(2) in CZ samples, while CZ/S samples possess Ce(0.75)Zr(0.25)O(2), Ce(0.6)Zr(0.4)O(2), and Ce(0.5)Zr(0.5)O(2) in different proportions. The crystallinity of these phases increased with increasing calcination temperature. The cell a parameter estimations indicate contraction of ceria lattice due to the incorporation of zirconium cations into the CeO(2) unit cell. Raman measurements indicate the presence of oxygen vacancies, lattice defects, and displacement of oxygen ions from their normal lattice positions in both the series of samples. The HREM results reveal, in the case of CZ/S samples, a well-dispersed nanosized Ce-Zr-oxides over the surface of amorphous SiO(2). The structural features of these crystals as determined by digital diffraction analysis of experimental images reveal that the Ce-Zr-oxides are mainly in the cubic geometry and exhibit high thermal stability. Oxygen storage capacity measurements by a thermogravimetric method reveal a substantial enhancement in the oxygen vacancy concentration of CZ/S sample over the unsupported CZ sample.  相似文献

The interaction of 20 wt% 12-tungstophosphoric acid with Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O(2) solid solutions has been studied by PXRD, FTIR, FT-Raman, H(2)-TPR, NH(3)-TPD, diffuse reflectance UV-vis-NIR, and (31)P MAS NMR techniques. The study indicates that the Keggin anions are attached to Lewis metal ion centres and anion vacancies on Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O(2) supports through WO terminal bonds. The Keggin units at the interface are chemically perturbed as indicated by non-intrinsic IR bands observed at 958 cm(-1) (WO(ter) bond), and 1052, 1102 cm(-1) (PO bond). NH(3)-TPD shows that the Keggin anions fixed to Lewis sites and/or oxygen ion vacancies decrease the ammonia uptake on Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O(2) solid solutions. H(2)-TPR shows modified redox behaviour of Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O(2) solid solutions due to the simultaneous reduction of ceria, decomposition of Keggin anions and the reduction of WO(3). The broadening of (31)P MAS NMR and DR-UV-vis-NIR spectra demonstrate the existence of chemical interactions between the Keggin anions and Ce(x)Zr(1-x)O(2) supports.  相似文献

Cu(2)SnS(3) nanocrystals with metastable zincblende and wurtzite structures have been successfully synthesized for the first time. Alloyed (ZnS)(x)(Cu(2)SnS(3))(1-x) and (CuInS(2))(x)(Cu(2)SnS(3))(1-x) nanocrystals with arbitrary composition (0 ≤x≤ 1) and ultra-broad tunable band gaps (3.63 to 0.94 eV) were obtained.  相似文献

Epitaxial thin films of titanium perovskite oxyhydride ATiO(3-x)H(x) (A = Ba, Sr, Ca) were prepared by CaH(2) reduction of epitaxial ATiO(3) thin films deposited on a (LaAlO(3))(0.3)(SrAl(0.5)Ta(0.5)O(3))(0.7) substrate. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy detected a substantial amount and uniform distribution of hydride within the film. SrTiO(3)/LSAT thin film hydridized at 530 °C for 1 day had hydride concentration of 4.0 × 10(21) atoms/cm(3) (i.e., SrTiO(2.75)H(0.25)). The electric resistivity of all the ATiO(3-x)H(x) films exhibited metallic (positive) temperature dependence, as opposed to negative as in BaTiO(3-x)H(x) powder, revealing that ATiO(3-x)H(x) are intrinsically metallic, with high conductivity of 10(2)-10(4) S/cm. Treatment with D(2) gas results in hydride/deuteride exchange of the films; these films should be valuable in further studies on hydride diffusion kinetics. Combined with the materials' inherent high electronic conductivity, new mixed electron/hydride ion conductors may also be possible.  相似文献

The physical and photocatalytic properties of a novel solid solution between GaN and ZnO, (Ga(1-x)Zn(x))(N(1-x)O(x)), are investigated. Nitridation of a mixture of Ga(2)O(3) and ZnO at 1123 K for 5-30 h under NH(3) flow results in the formation of a (Ga(1-x)Zn(x))(N(1-x)O(x)) solid solution with x = 0.05-0.22. With increasing nitridation time, the zinc and oxygen concentrations decrease due to reduction of ZnO and volatilization of zinc, and the crystallinity and band gap energy of the product increase. The highest activity for overall water splitting is obtained for (Ga(1-x)Zn(x))(N(1-x)O(x)) with x = 0.12 after nitridation for 15 h. The crystallinity of the catalyst is also found to increase with increasing the ratio of ZnO to Ga(2)O(3) in the starting material, resulting in an increase in activity.  相似文献

Metastable zinc blende CuInSe(2) nanocrystals were synthesized by a hot-injection approach. It was found that the lattice mismatches between zinc blende CuInSe(2) and ZnSe as well as CuInSe(2) and CuInS(2) are only 2.0% and 4.6%, respectively. Thus, alloyed (ZnSe)(x)(CuInSe(2))(1-x) and CuInSe(x)S(2-x) nanocrystals with a zinc blende structure have been successfully synthesized over the entire composition range, and the band gaps of alloys can be tuned in the range from 2.82 to 0.96 eV and 1.43 to 0.98 eV, respectively. These alloyed (ZnSe)(x)(CuInSe(2))(1-x) and CuInSe(x)S(2-x) nanocrystals with a broad tunable band gap have a high potential for photovoltaic and photocatalytic applications.  相似文献

The structural and electronic properties of Ce(1-x)Cu(x)O(2) nano systems prepared by a reverse microemulsion method were characterized with synchrotron-based X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and density functional calculations. The Cu atoms embedded in ceria had an oxidation state higher than those of the cations in Cu(2)O or CuO. The lattice of the Ce(1)(-x)Cu(x)O(2) systems still adopted a fluorite-type structure, but it was highly distorted with multiple cation-oxygen distances with respect to the single cation-oxygen bond distance seen in pure ceria. The doping of CeO(2) with copper introduced a large strain into the oxide lattice and favored the formation of O vacancies, leading to a Ce(1-x)Cu(x)O(2-y) stoichiometry for our materials. Cu approached the planar geometry characteristic of Cu(II) oxides, but with a strongly perturbed local order. The chemical activities of the Ce(1-x)Cu(x)O(2) nanoparticles were tested using the reactions with H(2) and O(2) as probes. During the reduction in hydrogen, an induction time was observed and became shorter after raising the reaction temperature. The fraction of copper that could be reduced in the Ce(1-x)Cu(x)O(2) oxides also depended strongly on the reaction temperature. A comparison with data for the reduction of pure copper oxides indicated that the copper embedded in ceria was much more difficult to reduce. The reduction of the Ce(1-x)Cu(x)O(2) nanoparticles was rather reversible, without the generation of a significant amount of CuO or Cu(2)O phases during reoxidation. This reversible process demonstrates the unusual structural and chemical properties of the Cu-doped ceria materials.  相似文献

(Ba(0.3)Sr(0.7))[(Zn(x)Mg(1-x))(1/3)Nb(2/3)]O(3) (BSZMN) (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0) solid solution ceramics were synthesized by the conventional solid-state sintering technique. Vibration spectra (Raman spectroscopy and Fourier transform far-infrared reflection spectroscopy, short for FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to evaluate the correlation between crystal structures and vibration modes of these solid solutions as a function of Mg(2+) ions replaced by Zn(2+) ions. It is verified that these ceramics present a phase transition, i.e., the crystal structure changes from hexagonal phase (P ?3m1, where x≤ 0.4) to the pseudocubic phase (I4/mcm, where x≥ 0.8) with increasing Zn(2+) content. The phase transition is a gradual process, the sample where x = 0.6 is of the transition phase, i.e., at x = 0.6, phase transition begins to appear from hexagonal phase to pseudocubic phase but is not complete. The phase transition is also verified by the FTIR spectra. Tilting of oxygen octahedra is the main reason for the phase transition. The phonon modes of the vibration spectra were assigned, the position and width were determined, and the correlation of phonon vibrations with the microstructure for the different atoms substituted in B'-site was found.  相似文献

Thermal properties of pure KY(WO4)2 and K(Y1-xYbx)(WO4)2(x=0.098,0.196,0.294) crystals were investigated.The specific heat and thermal diffusivity of crystals were calculated at a range of 50~300 ℃.The calculated result shows that the specific heat and thermal diffusivity of K(Y1-xYbx)(WO4)2(x=0.098,0.196,0.294) crystals were slightly affected by the Yb3+ concentration.The thermal expansion coefficient of K(Y0.804Yb0.196)(WO4)2 crystals along x,y and z axes were determined to be 13.51,4.474 and 16.60×10-6 K-1,respectively.These results suggest the K(Y1-xYbx)(WO4)2(x=0.098,0.196,0.294) crystal as a laser crystal of low-middle power.  相似文献
