Herein, we present the development of a procedure for the determination of total sulfur in petroleum-derived products (gasoline, kerosene and diesel fuel) employing inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP OES). For this procedure, samples were prepared as emulsions that were made using concentrated nitric acid, Triton X-100, sample, and ultra pure water in proportions of 5/10/7/78% (v/v), respectively. Sample volumes were weighed because of the density differences, and oxygen was added to the sheat gas entrance of the ICP OES in order to decrease carbon deposition in the torch and to minimize background effects. A Doehlert design was applied as an experimental matrix to investigate the flow ratios of argon (sheat and plasma gas) and oxygen in relation to the signal-to-background ratio. A comparative study among the slopes of the analytical curves built in aqueous media, surfactant/HNO3, and by spike addition for several sample emulsions indicates that a unique solution of surfactant in acidic media can be employed to perform the external calibration for analysis of the emulsions. The developed procedure allows for the determination of the total sulfur content in petroleum derivatives with a limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.72 and 2.4 μg g− 1, respectively. Precision values, expressed as the relative standard deviations (% RSD, n = 10) for 12 and 400 μg g− 1, were 2.2% and 1.3%, respectively. The proposed procedure was applied toward the determination of total sulfur in samples of gasoline, kerosene, and diesel fuel commercialized in the city of Niterói/RJ, Brazil. The accuracy of the proposed method was evaluated by the determination of the total sulfur in three different standard reference materials (SRM): NIST 2723a (sulfur in diesel fuel oil), NIST 1616b (sulfur in kerosene), and NIST 2298 (sulfur in gasoline). The data indicate that the methodology can be successfully applied to these types of samples. Spiking tests, conducted with the analyzed samples, indicate that recoveries are between 97 and 103%.  相似文献

The concentrations of Cu, Zn, Mn, Fe, K, Ca, Mg, Al, Ba and B in 26 herbal drugs of special importance in phytopharmacy were studied. Flame atomic absorption and emission spectrometry (FAAS, FAES), as well as inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), were applied in this work. The whole procedure, from sample preparation, via dissolution, to measurements, was validated by using CRM (NIST 1573a—tomato leaves), and the obtained recovery values are in the range from 91 to 102%. Drug samples originated from medicinal plants cultivated in Serbia contained Cu (4.47-14.08 mg kg−1), Zn (8.4-54.5 mg kg−1), Mn (9-155 mg kg−1), Fe (47-546 mg kg−1), K (0.20-6.24%), Ca (0.18-1.84%), Mg (0.13-1.09%), Al (16-416 mg kg−1), Ba (11.70-84.83 mg kg−1) and B (5.1-118.7 mg kg−1). In order to get a better insight into the elemental patterns, a common chemometric approach to data evaluation was used. Four significant factors identified by principal component analysis (PCA) were attributed partly to the significant influential sources and high mobility of some elements thus referring to potential anthropogenic contamination as well.  相似文献

A simple solid phase extraction procedure for speciation of selenium(IV) and selenium(VI) in environmental samples has been proposed prior to graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The method is based on the solid phase extraction of the selenium(IV)-ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDC) chelate on the Diaion HP-2MG. After reduction of Se(VI) by heating the samples in the microwave oven with 4 mol l−1 HCl, the system was applied to the total selenium. Se(VI) was calculated as the difference between the total selenium content and Se(IV) content. The experimental parameters, pH, amounts of reagents, eluent type and sample volume were optimized. The recoveries of analytes were found greater than 95%. No appreciable matrix effects were observed. The adsorption capacity of sorbent was 5.20 mg g−1 Se (IV). The detection limit of Se (IV) (3sigma, n = 11) is 0.010 μg l−1. The preconcentration factor for the presented system was 100. The proposed method was applied to the speciation of selenium(IV), selenium(VI) and determination of total selenium in natural waters and microwave digested soil, garlic, onion, rice, wheat and hazelnut samples harvested various locations in Turkey with satisfactory results. In order to verify the accuracy of the method, certified reference materials (NIST SRM 2711 Montana Soil, NIST SRM 1568a Rice Flour and NIST SRM 8418 Wheat Gluten) were analyzed and the results obtained were in good agreement with the certified values. The relative errors and relative standard deviations were below 6 and 10%, respectively.  相似文献

Total mercury in biological samples was determined by flow injection (FI) cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CVAAS) following tissue solubilization with formic acid. A mixture of potassium bromide and potassium bromate was used to decompose organomercury compounds prior to their reduction with sodium borohydride. A gold amalgam system was used to achieve lower detection limits when required. National Research Council Canada certified reference materials dogfish liver (DOLT-3), dogfish flesh (DORM-2) and lobster hepatopancreas (TORT-2), as well as oyster tissue (NIST SRM 1566b) and mussel tissue (NIST SRM 2976) were used to assess the accuracy of the method. The method of standard additions provided the most accurate results. Limit of detection (LOD) for Hg in the solid sample of 0.001 and 0.01 μg g−1 were achieved with and without amalgamation, respectively. The precision of measurement for 1.6 ng ml−1 methylmercury was 2.7% using the amalgam system.  相似文献

A method was developed for determination of methylmercury and estimation of total mercury in seafood. Mercury (Hg) compounds were extracted from 0.5 g edible seafood or 0.2 g lyophilized reference material by adding 50 ml aqueous 1% w/v l-cysteine·HCl·H2O and heating 120 min at 60 °C in glass vials. Hg compounds in 50 μl of filtered extract were separated by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography using a C-18 column and aqueous 0.1% w/v l-cysteine·HCl·H2O + 0.1% w/v l-cysteine mobile phase at room temperature and were detected by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry at mass-to-charge ratio 202. Total Hg was calculated as the mathematical sum of methyl and inorganic Hg determined in extracts. For seafoods containing 0.055-2.78 mg kg−1 methylmercury and 0.014-0.137 mg kg−1 inorganic Hg, precision of analyses was ≤5% relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) for methylmercury and ≤9% R.S.D. for inorganic Hg. Recovery of added analyte was 94% for methylmercury and 98% for inorganic Hg. Methyl and total Hg results for reference materials agreed with certified values. Limits of quantitation were 0.007 mg kg−1 methylmercury and 0.005 mg kg−1 inorganic Hg in edible seafood and 0.017 mg kg−1 methylmercury and 0.012 mg kg−1 inorganic Hg in lyophilized reference materials. Evaluation of analyte stability demonstrated that l-cysteine both stabilized and de-alkylated methylmercury, depending on holding time and cysteine concentration. Polypropylene adversely affected methylmercury stability. Total Hg results determined by this method were equivalent to results determined independently by cold vapour-atomic absorption spectrometry. Methylmercury was the predominant form of Hg in finfish. Ratios of methylmercury/total Hg determined by this method were 93-98% for finfish and 38-48% for mollusks.  相似文献

Enrichment techniques have become an important feature in the trace analysis of oestrogen mimicking chemicals in the environment. Recent developments such as accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) have improved extraction recoveries in a wide variety of solid matrices including sediments, sludges and leachate soils. Such samples taken from the Irish Midlands Shannon Catchment region during the winter of 2004/5 and suspected to contain certain xenooestrogens or hormonally active agents were extracted using this technique, which was then coupled with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for quantification purposes. ASE was thus employed to both isolate and pre-concentrate targeted analytes using the minimum amount of solvent hence making extractions more conservational. Two simple, yet extremely sensitive liquid chromatographic methods were developed based on UV detection; one for phthalates and one for alkylphenols, with recoveries reaching up to 92.0%. Acid digestion was used for the extraction of the tin and organotin compounds with analysis by polarography. In river sediment, levels of up to 24.4 mg kg−1 phthalate, 1.14 mg kg−1 4-nonylphenol and 118 mg kg−1 tin were found. In leachate sediments, values up to 49.8 mg kg−1 phthalate, 1.57 mg kg−1 4-nonylphenol, and 36.0 mg kg−1 tin were determined. In sludge, values up to 174 mg kg−1 phthalate and 22.8 mg kg−1 4-nonylphenol were quantified. The highest value of tin (118 mg kg−1) was found present in an area of high leisure craft activity. Typical sediment levels of tin at other river locations ranged between 1.20 and 37.5 mg kg−1.  相似文献

This paper describes selenium determination based on Se0 preconcentration in the imprinted polymer (synthesized with 2.25 mmol SeO2, 4-vinylpyridine and 1-vinylimidazole) with subsequent detection on-line in HG-FAAS. During the synthesis, SeO2 is reduced to Se (0). Therefore, there are no MIP neither IIP in the present work, thus we denominated: AIP, i.e., atomically imprinted polymers. For the optimization of analytical parameters Doehlert design was used. The method presented limit of detection and limit of quantification of 53 and 177 ng L−1, respectively, and linear range from 0.17 up to 6 μg L−1 (r = 0.9936). The preconcentration factor (PF), consumptive index (CI) and concentration efficiency (CE) were 232; 0.06 mL and 58 min−1 respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to determine Se in Brazil nuts (0.33 ± 0.03 mg kg−1), apricot (0.46 ± 0.02 mg kg−1), white bean (0.47 ± 0.03 mg kg−1), rice flour (0.47 ± 0.02 mg kg−1) and milk powder (0.22 ± 0.01 mg kg−1) samples. It was possible to do 12 analyzes per hour. Accuracy was checked and confirmed by analyzing certified reference material (DORM-2, dogfish muscle), and samples precision was satisfactory with RSD lower than 10%.  相似文献

Non-chromatographic speciation of toxic arsenic in fish   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A rapid, sensitive and economic method has been developed for the direct determination of toxic species of arsenic present in fish and mussel samples. As(III), As(V), dimethylarsinic acid (DMA), and monomethylarsonic acid (MMA) were determined by hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry using a series of proportional equations without the need of a chromatographic previous separation. The method is based on the extraction of arsenic species from fish through sonication with HNO3 3 mol l−1 and 0.1% (m/v) Triton and washing of the solid phase with 0.1% (m/v) EDTA, followed by direct measurement of the corresponding hydrides in four different experimental conditions. The limit of detection of the method was 0.62 ng g−1 for As(III), 2.1 ng g−1 for As(V), 1.8 ng g−1 for MMA and 5.4 ng g−1 for DMA, in all cases expressed in terms of sample dry weight. The mean relative standard deviation values (R.S.D.) in actual sample analysis were: 6.8% for As(III), 10.3% for As(V), 8.5% for MMA and 7.4% for DMA at concentration levels from 0.08 mg kg−1 As(III) to 1.3 mg kg−1 DMA. Recovery studies provided percentages greater than 93% for all species in spiked samples. The analysis of SRM DORM-2 and CRM 627 certified materials evidenced that the method is suitable for the accurate determination of arsenic species in fish.  相似文献

Total mercury, at μg kg−1 level, was determined in different types of nuts (cashew nut, Brazil nuts, almond, pistachio, peanut, walnut) using a direct mercury analyser after previous sample defatting and by cold vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometry. There is not enough sensitivity in the second approach to determine Hg in previously digested samples due to the strong matrix effect. Mercury levels in 25 edible nut samples from Brazil and Spain were found in the range from 0.6 to 2.7 μg kg−1 by using the pyrolysis of sample after the extraction of the nut fat. The accuracy of the proposed method was confirmed by analysing certified reference materials of Coal Fly Ash-NIST SRM 1633b, Fucus-IAEA 140 and three unpolished Rice Flour NIES-10. The observed results were in good agreement with the certified values. The recoveries of different amounts of mercury added to nut samples ranged from 94 to 101%. RSD values corresponding to three measurements varied between 2.0 and 14% and the limit of detection and quantification of the method were 0.08 and 0.3 μg kg−1, respectively.  相似文献

Reference materials for quantitative determination of Cd, Cr, Hg and Pb in polycarbonate were developed. Reference materials with two concentration level of elements were prepared by adding appropriate amounts of chemicals to a blank polycarbonate base material. It was shown that ten bottles with triplicate analysis are enough to demonstrate the homogeneity of these candidate reference materials. The statistical results also showed no significant trends in both short-term stability test for four weeks and long-term stability test for twelve months. The certification of the four elements was carried out by isotope-dilution-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ID-ICP-MS) with microwave-assisted digestion. Certification of candidate reference materials in a single laboratory was confirmed with interlaboratory comparison participated by a certain number of well-recognized testing laboratories in Korea. The certified values and expanded uncertainties (k = 2) for the candidate reference material with low level and the one with high level were (51.7 ± 2.1) mg kg−1 Cd, (103.8 ± 2.9) mg kg−1 Cd, (98.8 ± 4.5) mg kg−1 Cr, (1004 ± 49.8) mg kg−1 Cr, (107.4 ± 4.6) mg kg−1 Hg, (1133 ± 50.7) mg kg−1 Hg, (94.8 ± 3.7) mg kg−1 Pb and (988.4 ± 53.6) mg kg−1 Pb, respectively. The reference materials developed in this study demonstrated their suitability for the quality assurance in Cd, Cr, Hg and Pb analysis for the implementation of RoHS Directive.  相似文献

Electrothermal atomization of beryllium from graphite and tungsten surfaces was compared with and without the use of various chemical modifiers. Tungsten proved to be the best substrate, giving the more sensitive integrated atomic absorption signals of beryllium. Tungsten platform atomization with zirconium as a chemical modifier was used for the determination of beryllium in several NIST SRM certified reference samples, with good agreement obtained between the results found and the certified values. The precision of the measurements (at 10 μg L−1), the limit of detection (3σ), and the characteristic mass of beryllium were 2.50%, 0.009 μg L−1 and 0.42 pg, respectively.  相似文献

A simple chiral high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method with ultraviolet (UV) and circular dichroism (CD) detection was developed and validated for measuring benalaxyl enantiomers using (R,R) Whelk-O 1 column. The effects of mobile phase composition and column temperature on the entioseparation were investigated. A CD detector was used to determine the elution order of the enantiomers. Excellent resolution was easily obtained using n-hexane-polar organic alcohols mobile phase. The chiral recognition mechanism was also discussed. Based on the developed chiral HPLC method, enantioselective analysis methods for this fungicide in environment matrix (soil and water) were developed and validated. Good linearities were obtained over the concentration range of 0.25-25 mg L−1 for both enantiomers. Liquid-liquid extraction and solid phase extraction (SPE) were used for the enrichment and cleanup of soil and water samples. Recoveries for the two enantiomers were 79-91% at 0.02, 0.04 and 0.2 mg kg−1 levels from soil, and 89-101% at 0.0025, 0.01 and 0.05 mg L−1 levels from water. Run-to-run and day-to-day assay precisions were below 10% for both enantiomers at concentrations of 0.5, 1 and 5 mg L−1. Individual detection limits of the two enantiomers were both 2 ng. Limits of detection (LOD) were 0.004 mg kg−1 in soil and 0.001 mg L−1 in water.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to determine total trace (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Pb and Zn) and major (Al and Fe) element concentrations in calcareous soils using microwave-assisted digestion procedures. The literature showing lack of consensus regarding digestion procedures and unsatisfying recoveries for calcareous materials, four procedures using various acid combinations (HCl, HNO3, H2O2, HF) and volumes were tested using a certified reference material (CRM 141R) and natural calcareous soil samples. Digests were analysed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Repeatability (R.S.D. <5%) and recoveries (82-116%) showed that the procedures were precise and accurate for most elements. Five calcareous soil samples from a Champagne vineyard plot were, then, subjected to these procedures. In calcareous materials, the presence of HF resulted in Al being severely underestimated (recovery <5%) and Co overestimated (recovery >124%) due to complex formation or spectrochemical interferences, respectively. As digestion was not significantly influenced by the addition of H2O2, the procedure corresponding to Aqua regia (HCl-HNO3) appeared as the best compromise and was selected for further multielemental environmental studies on calcareous materials, even if the absence of HF could lead to incomplete digestion of accessory silicate minerals. Results for a vineyard plot showed that the soils were contaminated (3.65 mg kg−1 Cd, 67 mg kg−1 Cr, 278 mg kg−1 Cu, 143 mg kg−1 Pb and 400 mg kg−1 Zn) as a consequence of urban waste and copper-treatment applications.  相似文献

Mineral content and botanical origin of Spanish honeys   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Eleven elements (Zn, P, B, Mn, Mg, Cu, Ca, Ba, Sr, Na and K) were determined by inductively plasma coupled spectrometry in 40 honey samples from different places of Spain and four different botanical origins: Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus sp.), Heather (Erica sp.), Orange-blossom (Citrus sinensis) and Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis). K, Ca and P show the higher levels with average concentrations ranged between 434.1-1935 mg kg−1 for K; 42.59-341.0 mg kg−1 for Ca and 51.17-154.3 mg kg−1 for P. Levels of Cu (0.531-2.117 mg kg−1), Ba (0.106-1.264 mg kg−1) and Sr (0.257-1.462 mg kg−1) are the lowest in all honey samples. Zn (1.332-7.825 mg kg−1), Mn (0.133-9.471 mg kg−1), Mg (13.26-74.38 mg kg−1) and Na (11.69-218.5 mg kg−1) concentrations were found strongly dependent on the kind of botanical origin. Results were submitted to pattern recognition procedures, unsupervised methods such as cluster and principal components analysis and supervised learning methods like linear discriminant analysis in order to evaluate the existence of data patterns and the possibility of differentiation of Spanish honeys from different botanical origins according to their mineral content. Cluster analysis shows four clusters corresponding to the four botanical origins of honey and PCA explained 71% of the variance with the first two PC variables. The best-grouped honeys were those from heather; eucalyptus honeys formed a more dispersed group and finally orange-blossom and rosemary honeys formed a less distinguishable group.  相似文献

A procedure has been developed for the determination of bioavailable concentrations of selenium and arsenic in estuarine sediments employing inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP OES) using a concomitant metals analyzer device to perform hydride generation. The optimization of hydride generation was done in two steps: using a two-level factorial design for preliminary evaluation of studied factors and a Doehlert design to assess the optimal experimental conditions for analysis. Interferences of transition metallic ions (Cd2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Fe3+ and Ni2+) to selenium and arsenic signals were minimized by using higher hydrochloric acid concentrations. In this way, the procedure allowed the determination of selenium and arsenic in sediments with a detection limit of 25 and 30 μg kg−1, respectively, assuming a 50-fold sample dilution (0.5 g sample extraction to 25 mL sample final volume). The precision, expressed as a relative standard deviation (% RSD, n = 10), was 0.2% for both selenium and arsenic in 200 μg L−1 solutions, which corresponds to 10 μg g−1 in sediment samples after acid extraction. Applying the proposed procedure, a linear range of 0.08-10 and 0.10-10 μg g−1 was obtained for selenium and arsenic, respectively. The developed procedure was validated by the analysis of two certified reference materials: industrial sludge (NIST 2782) and river sediment (NIST 8704). The results were in agreement with the certified values. The developed procedure was applied to evaluate the bioavailability of both elements in four sediment certified reference materials, in which there are not certified values for bioavailable fractions, and also in estuarine sediment samples collected in several sites of Guanabara Bay, an impacted environment in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  相似文献

This work describes a methodology for Cd and Pb determination in sewage sludge slurry samples using thermospray flame furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (TS-FF-AAS). The TS-FF-AAS system was equipped with a Ni tube atomizer placed on an oxidizing air/acetylene flame. Two multivariate calibration models based on partial least squares (PLS) were proposed using total peak profiles (recorded during 57 s). Metals concentration in the sewage sludge samples were from 1.87 to 6.26 mg kg−1 for Cd and from 101 to 327 mg kg−1 for Pb. The limits of detection and quantification were, respectively, 0.2 and 0.7 μg kg−1 for Cd and 8 and 26 μg kg−1 for Pb. These values were three times lower than the limits found when these metals were calibrated using linear calibration with aqueous standard solutions.  相似文献

This work reports a rapid, specific and sensitive multi-residue method based on the Quick Easy Cheap Effective Rugged and Safe (QuEChERS) sample preparation method and gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection in the selected ion monitoring mode (GC-MS-SIM) using one quantification ion and two identification ions for the routine analysis of 203 pesticides in rice paddies. Analyses of fortified rice paddy samples were performed at different levels (0.05, 0.20 and 0.50 mg kg−1). Mean recoveries from five replicates ranged from 75% to 115%, with coefficients of variation lower than 17%. The limit of quantification was in the range of 0.002-0.05 mg kg−1 for the pesticides. 1040 rice paddy samples were analyzed for method application.  相似文献

In the present article we report our results on the development of a selective automated method for the determination of histamine in seafood using the concept of zone fluidics. The method is based on the sequential on-line reaction of the analyte with o-phthalaldehyde in the absence of a nucleophilic reagent, followed by acidification. The careful selection of the chemical and instrumental variables enabled the determination of the analyte with adequate sensitivity at the low micromolar level and with specificity against other biogenic amines and amino acids such as histidine. The LOD was 0.05 μmol L−1 (0.6 mg kg−1) and linearity was obeyed in the range of 0.5–15 μmol L−1 (5.5–170 mg kg−1). The proposed method offers a satisfactory sampling rate of 15 h−1 and adequate accuracy and precision for the analysis of seafood products after minimum sample preparation and without employing a separation technique.  相似文献

A new sequential injection (SI) system with spectrophotometric detections has been developed for successive determination of protein and glucose. The protein assay is based on ion-association of protein with tetrabromophenolphthalein ethyl ester (TBPE) in the presence of Triton X-100 at pH 3.2. The blue product is monitored for absorbance at 607 nm. For glucose, hydrogen peroxide, generated by the oxidation of glucose in the presence of glucose oxidase immobilized on glass beads packed in a minicolumn, is monitored using iron-catalyzed oxidation reaction of p-anisidine to form a red colored product (520 nm). The SI procedure takes advantage in performing the protein assay during the incubation period for glucose oxidation. Linear ranges were up to 10 mg dL−1 human serum albumin (HSA) with a limit of detection (LOD) (3σ) of 0.3 mg dL−1, and up to 12.5 mg dL−1 glucose with LOD of 0.08 mg dL−1. R.S.D.s (n = 11) were 2.7% and 2.5% (for 1 mg dL−1 and 5 mg dL−1 HSA) and 1.4% (9 mg dL−1 glucose). Sample throughput for the whole assay of both protein and glucose is 6 h−1. The automated system has been demonstrated for the successive assay of protein and glucose in urine samples taken from diabetic disease patients, with good agreement with the other methods. This developed SI system is an alternative automation for screening for diabetic diagnosis.  相似文献

A surface plasmon resonance (SPR) immunobiosensor assay was developed and validated to detect microcystin toxins in Spirulina and Aphanizomenon flos-aquae blue-green algae (BGA) food supplements. A competitive inhibition SPR-biosensor was developed using a monoclonal antibody to detect microcystin (MC) toxins. Powdered BGA samples were extracted with an aqueous methanolic solution, centrifuged and diluted in HBS-EP buffer prior to analysis. The assay was validated in accordance with the performance criteria outlined in EU legislation 2002/657/EC. The limit of detection (LOD) of the assay was calculated from the analysis of 20 known negative BGA samples to be 0.561 mg kg−1. The detection capability (CCβ) of the assay was determined to be ≤0.85 mg kg−1 for MC-LR. The biosensor assay was successfully applied to detect MC-LR toxins in BGA samples purchased on the Irish retail market. MC-LR was detected in samples at levels ranging from <0.5 to 2.21 mg kg−1. The biosensor results were in good agreement with an established LC-MS/MS assay. The assay is advantageous because it employs a simple clean-up procedure compared to chemical assays and allows automated unattended analysis of samples unlike ELISA.  相似文献
