A global symmetric period-1 approximate solution is analytically constructed for the non-resonant periodic response of a periodically excited piecewise nonlinear–linear oscillator. The approximate solutions are found to be in good agreement with the exact solutions that are obtained from the numerical integration of the original equations. In addition, the dynamic behaviour of the oscillator is numerically investigated with the help of bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, Poincare maps, phase portraits and basins of attraction. The existence of subharmonic and chaotic motions and the coexistence of four attractors are observed for some combinations of the system parameters.  相似文献

Bifurcations are discussed by the criterion of top Lyapunov exponent. Based on the local map and Kaminski’s algorithms, a general formulation of the top Lyapunov exponents is proposed for non-linear vibro-impact oscillators with Gaussian white noise perturbation. The analytical results are verified by phase portraits and bifurcation diagrams for a classical stochastic Duffing vibro-impact oscillator. Both results are consistent.  相似文献

Chaos and chaos synchronization of the centrifugal flywheel governor system are studied in this paper. By mechanics analyzing, the dynamical equation of the centrifugal flywheel governor system is established. Because of the non-linear terms of the system, the system exhibits both regular and chaotic motions. The characteristic of chaotic attractors of the system is presented by the phase portraits and power spectra. The evolution from Hopf bifurcation to chaos is shown by the bifurcation diagrams and a series of Poincaré sections under different sets of system parameters, and the bifurcation diagrams are verified by the related Lyapunov exponent spectra. This letter addresses control for the chaos synchronization of feedback control laws in two coupled non-autonomous chaotic systems with three different coupling terms, which is demonstrated and verified by Lyapunov exponent spectra and phase portraits. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed chaos synchronization scheme.  相似文献

Crisis-induced chaos in the Rose-Hindmarsh model for neuronal activity   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The bifurcation diagrams for the Rose-Hindmarsh model are obtained from the Poincaré maps which govern the dynamics of this differential system. The Lyapunov spectra for this model are estimated from time series. The transition from periodicity to crisis-induced chaos. and back to periodicity is presented for I [2.5, 2.69]. and is qualitatively different from the transitions described for different parameter regions [A. V. Holden and Yinshui Fan, Chaos, Solitons & Fractals 2, 221–236 (1992); Chaos, Solitons & Fractals 2, 349–369 (1992)]. A piecewise smooth, one-dimensional map is constructed to simulate the dynamics of the model and to reproduce the process of crisis-induced chaos.  相似文献

In the present study, the coupled nonlinear dynamics of an axially moving viscoelastic beam with time-dependent axial speed is investigated employing a numerical technique. The equations of motion for both the transverse and longitudinal motions are obtained using Newton’s second law of motion and the constitutive relations. A two-parameter rheological model of the Kelvin–Voigt energy dissipation mechanism is employed in the modelling of the viscoelastic beam material, in which the material time derivative is used in the viscoelastic constitutive relation. The Galerkin method is then applied to the coupled nonlinear equations, which are in the form of partial differential equations, resulting in a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with time-dependent coefficients due to the axial acceleration. A change of variables is then introduced to this set of ODEs to transform them into a set of first-order ordinary differential equations. A variable step-size modified Rosenbrock method is used to conduct direct time integration upon this new set of first-order nonlinear ODEs. The mean axial speed and the amplitude of the speed variations, which are taken as bifurcation parameters, are varied, resulting in the bifurcation diagrams of Poincaré maps of the system. The dynamical characteristics of the system are examined more precisely via plotting time histories, phase-plane portraits, Poincaré sections, and fast Fourier transforms (FFTs).  相似文献

The complex dynamics of a Holling type II prey–predator system with impulsive state feedback control is studied in both theoretical and numerical ways. The sufficient conditions for the existence and stability of semi-trivial and positive periodic solutions are obtained by using the Poincaré map and the analogue of the Poincaré criterion. The qualitative analysis shows that the positive periodic solution bifurcates from the semi-trivial solution through a fold bifurcation. The bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, and phase portraits are illustrated by an example, in which the chaotic solutions appear via a cascade of period-doubling bifurcations. The superiority of the state feedback control strategy is also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate dynamical behaviours of a discrete predator–prey model with nonmonotonic functional response. Codimension-2 bifurcations associated with 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 resonances are analyzed by using bifurcation theory. Codimension-2 bifurcation diagrams, maximum Lyapunov exponents diagrams and phase portraits, which not only illustrate the validity of the theoretical results but also display some interesting complex dynamical behaviours, are obtained by numerical simulations.  相似文献

In this paper we present a procedure to find all limit sets near bifurcating equilibria in a class of hybrid systems described by continuous, piecewise smooth differential equations. For this purpose, the dynamics near the bifurcating equilibrium is locally approximated as a piecewise affine systems defined on a conic partition of the plane. To guarantee that all limit sets are identified, conditions for the existence or absence of limit cycles are presented. Combining these results with the study of return maps, a procedure is presented for a local bifurcation analysis of bifurcating equilibria in continuous, piecewise smooth systems. With this procedure, all limit sets that are created or destroyed by the bifurcation are identified in a computationally feasible manner.  相似文献

In this paper we consider two classes of one dimensional piecewise smooth continuous maps that have been derived as normal forms for grazing bifurcations of piecewise smooth dynamical systems. These maps are linear on one side of the phase space and nonlinear on the other side. The case of nonlinear parts with negative coefficients has been studied previously and it is proved that period-adding scenarios are generic in this case. In contrast to this result, in our analytical and numerical results, the period-adding scenarios are not observed when the nonlinear parts have positive coefficients. Furthermore, our results suggest that the typical bifurcation scenario is period doubling cascade leading to chaos in this case, which is similar to that of the smooth logistic map.  相似文献

A mathematical model is developed to study periodic-impact motions and bifurcations in dynamics of a small vibro-impact pile driver. Dynamics of the small vibro-impact pile driver can be analyzed by means of a three-dimensional map, which describes free flight and sticking solutions of the vibro-impact system, between impacts, supplemented by transition conditions at the instants of impacts. Piecewise property and singularity are found to exist in the Poincaré map. The piecewise property is caused by the transitions of free flight and sticking motions of the driver and the pile immediately after the impact, and the singularity of map is generated via the grazing contact of the driver and the pile immediately before the impact. These properties of the map have been shown to exhibit particular types of sliding and grazing bifurcations of periodic-impact motions under parameter variation. The influence of piecewise property, grazing singularities and parameter variation on the performance of the vibro-impact pile driver is analyzed. The global bifurcation diagrams for the impact velocity of the driver versus the forcing frequency are plotted to predict much of the qualitative behavior of the actual physical system, which enable the practicing engineer to select excitation frequency ranges in which stable period one single-impact response can be expected to occur, and to predict the larger impact velocity and shorter impact period of such response.  相似文献

In this note we investigate the influence of structural nonlinearity of a simple cantilever beam impacting system on its dynamic responses close to grazing incidence by a means of numerical simulation. To obtain a clear picture of this effect we considered two systems exhibiting impacting motion, where the primary stiffness is either linear (piecewise linear system) or nonlinear (piecewise nonlinear system). Two systems were studied by constructing bifurcation diagrams, basins of attractions, Lyapunov exponents and parameter plots. In our analysis we focused on the grazing transitions from no impact to impact motion. We observed that the dynamic responses of these two similar systems are qualitatively different around the grazing transitions. For the piecewise linear system, we identified on the parameter space a considerable region with chaotic behaviour, while for the piecewise nonlinear system we found just periodic attractors. We postulate that the structural nonlinearity of the cantilever impacting beam suppresses chaos near grazing.  相似文献

A simple neural network model with discrete time delay is investigated. The linear stability of this model is discussed by analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation. For the case with inhibitory influence from the past state, it is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when this influence varies and passes through a sequence of critical values. The stability of bifurcating periodic solutions and the direction of Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. Chaotic behavior of a single delayed neuron equation with non-monotonously increasing transfer function has been observed in computer simulation. Some waveform diagrams, phase portraits, power spectra and plots of the largest Lyapunov exponent will also be given.  相似文献

A numerical simulation of the dynamic behavior of a railway wheelset is presented. The contact forces between the wheel and the rail are estimated using Johnson and Vermeulen theory of creepages. Nonlinear governing equations of motion of wheelset on a straight track are solved using fourth-order Runge–Kutta method. Both symmetric and asymmetric oscillations and chaotic motion are observed. The influence of yaw stiffness and axial velocity on the response of wheelset is studied. Broadband chaotic motion is developed at various velocity levels. The results are presented in the form of time evolution, phase plots, Poincare maps and bifurcation diagrams. The Lyapunov exponent is calculated and its variation with time is presented. Intermittency is observed. There is a shift in the bifurcation diagram by increasing the yaw stiffness. It indicates that chaotic behavior could be delayed with increasing yaw stiffness.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to study the dynamical behavior of a modified Autonomous Van der Pol-Duffing (ADVP) circuit when its nonlinear element is replaced by a flux controlled memristor. The bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, and phase portraits of the state variables are presented. Then, the chaos which appears at certain values of the system’s parameters is controlled using linear feedback control. Finally, the synchronization between two chaotic modified ADVP circuits is achieved in the case of fully unknown parameters of the system using adaptive synchronization.  相似文献

The discrete mathematical model for the respiratory process in bacterial culture obtained by Euler method is investigated. The conditions of existence for flip bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation are derived by using center manifold theorem and bifurcation theory, condition of existence of chaos in the sense of Marotto's definition of chaos is proved. The bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents and phase portraits are given for different parameters of the model, and the fractal dimension of chaotic attractor was also calculated. The numerical simulation results confirm the theoretical analysis and also display the new and complex dynamical behaviors compared with the continuous model. In particular~ we found that the new chaotic attractor, and new types of two or four coexisting chaotic attractors, and two coexisting invariant torus.  相似文献

A ceramic/metal functionally graded circular plate under one-term and two-term transversal excitations in the thermal environment is investigated, respectively. The effects of geometric nonlinearity and temperature-dependent material properties are both taken into account. The material properties of the functionally graded plate are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness, according to a power law distribution of the volume fraction of the constituents. Using the principle of virtual work, the nonlinear partial differential equations of FGM plate subjected to transverse harmonic forcing excitation and thermal load are derived. For the circular plate with clamped immovable edge, the Duffing nonlinear forced vibration equation is deduced using Galerkin method. The criteria for existence of chaos under one-term and two-term periodic perturbations are given with Melnikov method. Numerical simulations are carried out to plot the bifurcation curves for the homolinic orbits. Effects of the material volume fraction index and temperature on the criterions are discussed and the existences of chaos are validated by plotting phase portraits, Poincare maps. Also, the bifurcation diagrams and corresponding maximum Lyapunov exponents are plotted. It was found that periodic, multiple periodic solutions and chaotic motions exist for the FGM plate under certain conditions.  相似文献

A discrete-time prey–predator model with Holling type II is investigated. For this model, the existence and stability of three fixed points are analyzed. The bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits and Lyapunov exponents are obtained for different parameters of the model. The fractal dimension of a strange attractor of the model was also calculated. Numerical simulations show that the discrete model exhibits rich dynamics compared with the continuous model, which means that the present model is a chaotic, and complex one.  相似文献

A discrete predator-prey system with Holling type-IV functional response obtained by the Euler method is first investigated. The conditions of existence for fold bifurcation, flip bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation are derived by using the center manifold theorem and bifurcation theory. Furthermore, we give the condition for the occurrence of codimension-two bifurcation called the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation for fixed points and present approximate expressions for saddle-node, Hopfand homoclinic bifurcation sets near the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation point. We also show the existence of degenerated fixed point with codimension three at least. The numerical simulations, including bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits, and computation of maximum Lyapunov exponents, not only show the consistence with the theoretical analysis but also exhibit the rich and complex dynamical behaviors such as the attracting invariant circle, period-doubling bifurcation from period-2,3,4 orbits.interior crisis, intermittency mechanic, and sudden disappearance of chaotic dynamic.  相似文献

This paper investigates bifurcation and chaos of an axially accelerating viscoelastic beam. The Kelvin–Voigt model is adopted to constitute the material of the beam. Lagrangian strain is used to account for the beam's geometric nonlinearity. The nonlinear partial–differential equation governing transverse motion of the beam is derived from the Newton second law. The Galerkin method is applied to truncate the governing equation into a set of ordinary differential equations. By use of the Poincaré map, the dynamical behavior is identified based on the numerical solutions of the ordinary differential equations. The bifurcation diagrams are presented in the case that the mean axial speed, the amplitude of speed fluctuation and the dynamic viscoelasticity is respectively varied while other parameters are fixed. The Lyapunov exponent is calculated to identify chaos. From numerical simulations, it is indicated that the periodic, quasi-periodic and chaotic motions occur in the transverse vibrations of the axially accelerating viscoelastic beam.  相似文献

In this paper, complex dynamics of the discrete predator–prey model with the prey subject to the Allee effect are investigated in detail. Firstly, when the prey intrinsic growth rate is not large, the basins of attraction of the equilibrium points of the single population model are given. Secondly, rigorous results on the existence and stability of the equilibrium points of the model are derived, especially, by analyzing the higher order terms, we obtain that the non-hyperbolic extinction equilibrium point is locally asymptotically stable. The existences and bifurcation directions for the flip bifurcation, the Neimark–Sacker bifurcation and codimension-two bifurcations with 1:2 resonance are derived by using the center manifold theorem and the bifurcation theory. We derive that the model only exhibits a supercritical flip bifurcation and it is possible for the model to exhibit a supercritical or subcritical Neimark–Sacker bifurcation at the larger positive equilibrium point. Chaos in the sense of Marotto is proved by analytical methods. Finally, numerical simulations including bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits, sensitivity dependence on the initial values, Lyapunov exponents display new and rich dynamical behaviour. The analytic results and numerical simulations demonstrate that the Allee effect plays a very important role for dynamical behaviour.  相似文献
