In the present note, we have discussed the effects of partial slip on the peristaltic flow of a MHD Newtonian fluid in an asymmetric channel. The governing equations of motion and energy are simplified using a long wave length approximation. A closed form solution of the momentum equation is obtained by Adomian decomposition method and an exact solution of the energy equation is presented in the presence of viscous dissipation term. The expression for pressure rise is calculated using numerical integration. The trapping phenomena is also discussed. The graphical results are presented to interpret various physical parameter of interest. It is found that the temperature field decreases with the increase in slip parameter L, and magnetic field M, while with the increase in Pr and Ec, the temperature field increases.  相似文献

This article looks at the slip effects on the flow and heat transfer of a third grade fluid past a porous plate. The resulting equations and boundary conditions are non-linear. The non-linear boundary condition is reduced into a linear one and a series solution of the problem is obtained using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Variations of interesting parameters are seen on the velocity and temperature profiles.  相似文献

This article discusses the effect of heat transfer on the peristaltic flow of a Newtonian fluid through a porous space in a vertical asymmetric channel. Long wavelength approximation is used to linearize the governing equations. The system of the governing nonlinear PDE is solved by using the perturbation method. The solutions are obtained for the velocity and the temperature fields. The flow is investigated in a wave frame of reference moving with velocity of the wave. Numerical calculations are carried out for the pressure rise, frictional forces, and the features of the flow and temperature characteristics are analyzed by plotting graphs and discussed in detail. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Stagnation slip flow and heat transfer characteristics of a viscous fluid over a nonlinear stretching surface has been investigated. The governing partial differential equations are transformed to nonlinear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations. The analytical solution of the nonlinear system is obtained in series form using the very efficient homotopy analysis method (HAM). Convergence of the series solution is shown explicitly. Important features of flow and heat transfer characteristics are plotted and discussed. Comparison is made with existing numerical results when the stagnation‐point and slip effects are excluded. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2011  相似文献

This work is aimed at describing the heat transfer on the peristaltic motion in a porous space. An incompressible and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) viscous fluid is taken in an asymmetrical channel. Expressions of dimensionless stream function and temperature are obtained analytically by employing long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions. The influence of various parameters of interest is seen through graphs on pumping and trapping phenomena and temperature profile.  相似文献

The elastic effect of the flexible walls is analyzed on the peristaltic motion of Maxwell fluid in a channel with heat transfer. An incompressible and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) fluid fills the porous space. The series solution of the modeled problem is derived by considering small wave number. The influence of pertinent parameters is shown and discussed with the help of graphs. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 2010  相似文献

This article describes the effects of heat and mass transfer on the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) peristaltic flow in a planar channel with compliant walls. An incompressible Maxwell fluid occupies a porous space. The mathematical formulation is based upon the modified Darcy’s law. The analytic treatment of the solution is given by choosing a small wave number. The expressions of stream function, temperature distribution, concentration field and heat coefficient are constructed. The variations of several interesting parameters are discussed by sketching plots.  相似文献

In the present investigation we have discussed the heat and mass transfer analysis on peristaltic flow of a third order fluid in a diverging tube. The assumption of low Reynolds number and long wavelength have been used to simplify the complicated problem into relatively simple problem. Two types of analytical solutions named as perturbation solution and solution have been evaluated for velocity, temperature and concentration field. The expression for pressure rise and frictional forces are calculated using numerical integration. In addition, the quantitative effects of pressure rise, frictional forces, temperature and concentration profile are displayed graphically. Trapping phenomena is also discussed at the end of the article.  相似文献

The present study investigates the effects of heat and mass transfer on peristaltic transport in a porous space with compliant walls. The fluid is electrically conducting in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. Analytic solution is carried out under long-wavelength and low-Reynolds number approximations. The expressions for stream function, temperature, concentration and heat transfer coefficient are obtained. Numerical results are graphically discussed for various values of physical parameters of interest.  相似文献

Slip flow heat transfer in circular microtubes is of fundamental interest and practical importance. However, to the best knowledge of the present author, there is no open publication of developing simple and efficient lattice Boltzmann (LB) models on such topic. To bridge the gap, in this paper a simple LB model, which is based on our recent work [S. Chen, J. Tölke, M. Krafczyk, Simulation of buoyancy-driven flows in a vertical cylinder using a simple lattice Boltzmann model, Phys. Rev. E 79 (2009) 016704], is designed. In addition, the recently developed Langmuir slip model [S. Chen, Z.W. Tian, Simulation of thermal micro-flow using lattice Boltzmann method with Langmuir slip model, Int. J. Heat Fluid Flow 31 (2010) 227-235], which possesses a clear physical picture and keeps the Reynolds analogy, is extended to capture velocity slip as well as temperature jump in microtubes. The feasibility and capability of the present model are validated by the extended Graetz problem, which is a benchmark prototype for forced convection heat transfer in circular microtubes.  相似文献

The steady Von Kármán flow and heat transfer of a non-Newtonian fluid is extended to the case where the disk surface admits partial slip. The constitutive equation of the non-Newtonian fluid is modeled by that for a Reiner-Rivlin fluid. The momentum equations give rise to highly nonlinear boundary value problem. Numerical solutions for the governing nonlinear equations are obtained over the entire range of the physical parameters. The effects of slip and non-Newtonian fluid characteristics on the velocity and temperature fields have been discussed in detail and shown graphically.  相似文献

The effect of an induced magnetic field on peristaltic flow of an incompressible Carreau fluid in an asymmetric channel is analyzed. Perturbation solution to equations under long wavelength approximation is derived in terms of small Weissenberg number. Expressions have been constructed for the stream function, the axial induced magnetic field, the magnetic force function, the current density distribution and the temperature. Trapping phenomenon is examined with respect to emerging parameters of interest.  相似文献

The purpose of present research is to derive analytical expressions for the solution of steady MHD convective and slip flow due to a rotating disk. Viscous dissipation and Ohmic heating are taken into account. The nonlinear partial differential equations for MHD laminar flow of the homogeneous fluid are reduced to a system of five coupled ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformation. The derived solution is expressed in series of exponentially-decaying functions using homotopy analysis method (HAM). The convergence of the obtained series solutions is examined. Finally some figures are sketched to show the accuracy of the applied method and assessment of various slip parameter γ, magnetic field parameter M, Eckert Ec, Schmidt Sc and Soret Sr numbers on the profiles of the dimensionless velocity, temperature and concentration distributions. Validity of the obtained results are verified by the numerical results.  相似文献

In this work, the effects of slip velocity on the flow and heat transfer for an electrically conducting micropolar fluid over a permeable stretching surface with variable heat flux in the presence of heat generation (absorption) and a transverse magnetic field are investigated. The governing partial differential equations describing the problem are converted to a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations by using the similarity transformation, which is solved numerically using the Chebyshev spectral method. The effects of the slip parameter on the flow, micro-rotation and temperature profiles as well as on the local skin-friction coefficient, the wall couple stress and the local Nusselt number are presented graphically. The numerical results of the local skin-friction coefficient, the wall couple stress and the local Nusselt number are given in a tabular form and discussed.

An analysis is presented for the steady boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a viscous and incompressible fluid in the stagnation point towards a non-linearly moving flat plate in a parallel free stream with a partial slip velocity. The governing partial differential equations are converted into nonlinear ordinary differential equations by a similarity transformation, which are then solved numerically using the function bvp4c from Matlab for different values of the governing parameters. Dual (upper and lower branch) solutions are found to exist for certain parameters. Particular attention is given to deriving numerical results for the critical/turning points which determine the range of existence of the dual solutions. A stability analysis has been also performed to show that the upper branch solutions are stable and physically realizable, while the lower branch solutions are not stable and, therefore, not physically possible.  相似文献

We study the problem of identifying unknown source terms in an inverse parabolic problem, when the overspecified (measured) data are given in form of Dirichlet boundary condition u(0,t) = h(t) and , where is an arbitrarily prescribed subregion. The main goal here is to show that the gradient of cost functional can be expressed via the solutions of the direct and corresponding adjoint problems. We prove Hölder continuity of the cost functional and derive the Lipschitz constant in the explicit form via the given data. On the basis of the obtained results, we propose a monotone iteration process. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Under creeping flow conditions, we consider the steady Couette flow of a Newtonian fluid between two plates, one of them planar, the other one with a sinusoidal profile. Recent analytical studies on the velocity field revealed the formation of kinematically induced eddies in the valleys of the plate topography and the influence of these eddies on drag force and flow rate. The influence of these eddies on the convective heat transfer is the subject of our paper. (© 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The peristaltic flow of a Jeffrey fluid in a vertical porous stratum with heat transfer is studied under long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions. The nonlinear governing equations are solved using perturbation technique. The expressions for velocity, temperature and the pressure rise per one wave length are determined. The effects of different parameters on the velocity, the temperature and the pumping characteristics are discussed. It is observed that the effects of the Jeffrey number λ1, the Grashof number Gr, the perturbation parameter N = EcPr, and the peristaltic wall deformation parameter ϕ are the strongest on the trapping bolus phenomenon. The results obtained for the flow and heat transfer characteristics reveal many interesting behaviors that warrant further study on the non-Newtonian fluid phenomena, especially the shear-thinning phenomena. Shear-thinning reduces the wall shear stress.  相似文献

Ground simulation of flow and heat transfer under micro-gravity   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A new preservation technique is advanced, by which the flow and heat transfer in the manned spacecraft cabin can be simulated in the model on the ground with simultaneous preservation of temperature, material and Nusselt number. Numerical studies of flow and temperature fields in a cabin show that the gravity effect can be neglected if the scale of the model reduces to 1: 5, which corresponds to the ratio of Grashof number to the square of Renolds number smaller than the critical value. Below this value the natural convection is negligible. Project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.  相似文献
