Approximate solutions ofJ integrals under plane loadings (modes I and II combined) and antiplane shear loadings (mode III) are obtained for bodies with central through cracks of power hardening materials, by using a perturbation method. The obtained calculating formula is very simple and a comparison with available results shows that the formula enjoys quite good accuracy and is suitable for engineering uses.  相似文献

An analytical solution to the famous Falkner-Skan equation for the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow is obtained for a special case, namely, the sink flow with a velocity power index of −1. The solution is given in a closed form. Multiple solution branches are obtained. The effects of the magnetic parameter and the wall stretching parameter are analyzed. Interesting velocity profiles are observed with reversal flow regions even for a stationary wall. These solutions provide a rare case of the Falkner-Skan MHD flow with an analytical closed form formula. They greatly enrich the analytical solution for the celebrated Falkner-Skan equation and provide better understanding of this equation.  相似文献

This paper deals with heat transfer to two-dimensional laminar Poiseuille flow with arbitrary heat fluxes specified on the walls. The solution is first obtained for fluxes which are symmetric and antisymmetric delta functions and from these the general solution is obtained by integration. The solutions include the effects of axial conduction and also of preheating of the incoming fluid. Detailed solutions are given for the cases Pé=1 and Pé=.5.  相似文献

Recently, Lee et al. (Arch Appl Mech 81:397–402, 2011) proposed a new and very interesting formula to describe the velocity profile of a submerged jet flow by introducing a radial adjusting coefficient depending on the jet flow direction. Under some simplifying assumptions (granting convergence), the authors were able to express the spreading width of the jet flow analytically in terms of infinite series. In this short note, we show that such simplifying assumptions can be relaxed and exact solutions for the spreading width of the jet flow can be obtained: Such results are computationally more efficient and are able to better demonstrate the qualitative features of the solutions.  相似文献

Asymptotic behavior of solutions of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations on the half space R n+(n≥2) is considered around a given constant equilibrium. A solution formula for the linearized problem is derived, and Lp estimates for solutions of the linearized problem are obtained for 2≤p≤∞. It is shown that, as in the case of the Cauchy problem, the leading part of the solution of the linearized problem is decomposed into two parts, one that behaves like diffusion waves and the other one purely diffusively. There, however, are some aspects different from the Cauchy problem, especially in considering spatial derivatives. It is also shown that the solution of the linearized problem approaches for large times the solution of the nonstationary Stokes problem in some Lp spaces; and, as a result, a solution formula for the nonstationary Stokes problem is obtained. Large-time behavior of solutions of the nonlinear problem is then investigated in Lp spaces for 2≤p≤∞ by applying the results on the linearized analysis and the weighted energy method. The results indicate that there may be some nonlinear interaction phenomena not appearing in the Cauchy problem.  相似文献

In this paper, the unsteady three‐dimensional boundary layer flow due to a stretching surface in a viscous and incompressible micropolar fluid is considered. The partial differential equations governing the unsteady laminar boundary layer flow are solved numerically using an implicit finite‐difference scheme. The numerical solutions are obtained which are uniformly valid for all dimensionless time from initial unsteady‐state flow to final steady‐state flow in the whole spatial region. The equations for the initial unsteady‐state flow are also solved analytically. It is found that there is a smooth transition from the small‐time solution to the large‐time solution. The features of the flow for different values of the governing parameters are analyzed and discussed. The solutions of interest for the skin friction coefficient with various values of the stretching parameter c and material parameter K are presented. The proposal ofJackson andKaye (1966) for evaluating both differences of normal stress in a viscometric flow by using only total thrust measurements in a cone- and-plate viscometer is extended. An analytic relation valid for all values of the separation between cone and plate is obtained, which is shown to include as special cases the well-known cone- and-plate formula, the parallel-plate formula ofKotaka et al. (1959) andJackson andKaye's.Examples of the method's application to experimental results are given. On leave from: Department of Chemical Engineering, Pembroke Street, Cambridge.  相似文献

The effect of uniform suction on the steady two-dimensional laminar forced flow of a viscous incompressible fluid of temperature dependent viscosity past a wedge with uniform surface heat flux is considered. The governing equations for the flow are obtained by using suitable transformations and are solved by using an implicit finite difference method. Perturbation solutions are also obtained near the leading edge and in the downstream regime. The results are obtained in terms of the local skin friction coefficient and the rate of heat transfer for various values of the pertinent parameters, such as the Prandtl number, Pr, the velocity gradient parameter, m, the local suction parameter, ξ, and the viscosity variation parameter, ɛ. Perturbation solutions are compared with the finite difference solutions and are found to be in excellent agreement. The effect of ξ, m and ɛ on the dimensionless velocity profiles and viscosity distribution are also presented graphically for Pr = 0.7 and 7.0, which are the appropriate values for gases and water respectively. The problem of Stokes entry flow into a semi-infinite circular cylindrical tube was studied in this paper. A new kind of series solutions was derived. Their evident difference from the solutions in References [1,2] is that the present solutions don ’t involve infinite integral. So they are favourable for calculation. We calculated an example by allocated method and obtained satisfied results.  相似文献

The velocity field and the associated shear stress corresponding to the torsional oscillatory flow of a second grade fluid, between two infinite coaxial circular cylinders, are determined by means of the Laplace and Hankel transforms. At time t = 0, the fluid and both the cylinders are at rest and at t = 0 + , cylinders suddenly begin to oscillate around their common axis in a simple harmonic way having angular frequencies ω 1 and ω 2 . The obtained solutions satisfy the governing differential equation and all imposed initial and boundary conditions. The solutions for the motion between the cylinders, when one of them is at rest, can be obtained from our general solutions. Furthermore, the corresponding solutions for Newtonian fluid are also obtained as limiting cases of our general solutions.  相似文献

The transient development of cooling-induced flow in a triangular domain filled with water is studied by means of numerical simulation as a model for flow developing in the littoral region of lakes or coasts. The domain is fitted in polar co-ordinates; solutions are obtained for different values of the independent parameters of the model, which are the Rayleigh number (Ra), the Prandtl number (Pr) and the slope of the domain (S). Within the ranges examined, as Ra is increased, different regimes of the developing flow are observed; these are found qualitatively to be insignificantly influenced by changes in S, whereas the flow is found to be quantitatively insensitive to Pr for high enough values of Pr. Several interesting features of the flow are depicted and integral values useful in the analysis of flow in lakes are extracted.  相似文献

This paper examines the Stokes' flow due to an axially symmetric body rotating about its axis of symmetry in a micropolar fluid which sustains anti-symmetric stress and couple stress. General solutions are obtained to the coupled differential equations governing such a flow and the special case of a sphere is deduced. Then, with the aid of a concentrated couple, a simple formula for the couple experienced by a body is derived in terms of the angular velocity of the flow field.  相似文献

Taylor-Hood finite elements provide a robust numerical discretization of Navier-Stokes equations (NSEs) with arbitrary high order of accuracy in space. To match the accuracy of the lowest degree Taylor-Hood element, we propose a very efficient time-stepping methods for unsteady flows, which are based on high-order semi-implicit backward difference formulas (SBDF) and the inclusion of grad -div term in the NSE. To mitigate the impact on the numerical accuracy (in time) of the extrapolation of the nonlinear term in SBDF, several variants of nonlinear extrapolation formulas are investigated. The first approach is based on an extrapolation of the nonlinear advection term itself. The second formula uses the extrapolation of the velocity prior to the evaluation of the nonlinear advection term as a whole. The third variant is constructed such that it produces similar error on both velocity and pressure to that with fully implicit backward difference formulas methods at a given order of accuracy. This can be achieved by fixing one-order higher than usually done in the extrapolation formula for the nonlinear advection term, while keeping the same extrapolation formula for the time derivative. The resulting truncation errors (in time) between these formulas are identified using Taylor expansions. These truncation error formulas are shown to properly represent the error seen in numerical tests using a 2D manufactured solution. Lastly, we show the robustness of the proposed semi-implicit methods by solving test cases with high Reynolds numbers using one of the nonlinear extrapolation formulas, namely, the 2D flow past circular cylinder at Re=300 and Re = 1000 and the 2D lid-driven cavity at Re = 50 000 and Re = 100 000. Our numerical solutions are found to be in a good agreement with those obtained in the literature, both qualitatively and quantitatively.  相似文献

This paper presents both a numerical and analytical study in connection with the steady boundary layer flow and heat transfer induced by a moving permeable semi-infinite flat plate in a parallel free stream. Both the velocities of the flat plate and the free stream are proportional to x 1/3. The surface temperature is assumed to be constant. The governing partial differential equations are converted into ordinary differential equations by a new similarity transformation. Numerical results for the flow and heat transfer characteristics are obtained for various values of the moving parameter, transpiration parameter and the Prandtl number. Approximate analytical solutions are also obtained when the suction or injection parameter is very large. It is found that dual solutions exist for the case when the fluid and the plate move in the opposite directions.  相似文献

A study is made of the flow of a compressible gas in a laminar boundary layer on swept-back wings of infinite span in a supersonic gas flow at different angles of attack. The surface is assumed to be either impermeable or that gas is blown or sucked through it. For this flow and an axisymmetric flow an analytic solution to the problem is obtained in the first approximation of an integral method of successive approximation. For large values of the blowing or suction parameters, asymptotic solutions are found for the boundary layer equations. Some results of numerical solution of the problem obtained by the finite-difference method are given for wings of various shapes in a wide range of angles characterizing the amount by which the wings are swept back and also the blowing or suction parameters. A numerical solution is obtained for the equations of the three-dimensional mixing layer formed in the case of strong blowing of gas from the surface of the body. The analytic and numerical solutions are compared and the regions of applicability of the analytic expressions are estimated. On the basis of the solutions obtained in the present paper and studies of other authors a formula is proposed for the calculation of the heat fluxes to a perfectly catalytic surface of swept-back wings in a supersonic flow of dissociated and ionized air at different angles of attack. Flow over swept-back wings at zero angle of attack has been considered earlier (see, for example, [1–4]) in the theory of a laminar boundary layer. In [5], a study was made of flow over swept-back wings at nonzero angle of attack at small and moderate Reynolds numbers in the framework of the theory of a hypersonic viscous shock layer.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 27–39, May–June, 1980.We thank G. In this paper, the velocity field and the associated tangential stress corresponding to the rotational flow of a generalized Maxwell fluid within an infinite circular cylinder are determined by means of the Laplace and finite Hankel transforms. Initially, the fluid is at rest, and the motion is produced by the rotation of the cylinder about its axis with a unsteady angular velocity. The solutions that have been obtained are presented under series form in terms of the generalized G a,b,c (, t)-functions. The similar solutions for the ordinary Maxwell and Newtonian fluids, performing the same motion, are obtained as special cases, when β → 1, respectively β → 1 and λ → 0, from general solutions. Finally, the solutions that have been obtained are compared by graphical illustrations, and the influence of the pertinent parameters on the fluid motion is also underlined by graphical illustrations.  相似文献

This paper concerned with the unsteady rotational flow of fractional Oldroyd-B fluid, between two infinite coaxial circular cylinders. To solve the problem we used the finite Hankel and Laplace transforms. The motion is produced by the inner cylinder that, at time t=0+, is subject to a time-dependent rotational shear. The solutions that have been obtained, presented under series form in terms of the generalized G functions, satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions. The corresponding solutions for ordinary Oldroyd-B, fractional and ordinary Maxwell, fractional and ordinary second grade, and Newtonian fluids, performing the same motion, are obtained as limiting cases of general solutions.  相似文献

This paper deals with the study of unsteady flow of a Maxwell fluid with fractional derivative model, between two infinite coaxial circular cylinders, using Laplace and finite Hankel transforms. The motion of the fluid is produced by the inner cylinder that, at time t = 0+, is subject to a time-dependent longitudinal shear stress. Velocity field and the adequate shear stress are presented under series form in terms of the generalized G and R functions. The solutions that have been obtained satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions. The corresponding solutions for ordinary Maxwell and Newtonian fluids are obtained as limiting cases of general solutions. Finally, the influence of the pertinent parameters on the fluid motion as well as a comparison between the three models is underlined by graphical illustrations.  相似文献

The unsteady natural convection flow in a square cavity at high Rayleigh number Ra=10 7 and 2×10 7 has been computed using cubic spline integration. The required solutions to the two dimensional Navier-Stokes and energy equations have been obtained using two alternate numerical formulations on non-uniform grids. The main features of the transient flow have been briefly discussed. The results obtained by using the present method are in good agreement with the theoretical predictions [1,2].The steady state results have been compared with accurate solutions presented recently for Ra=10 7.  相似文献
