For the wave equation with variable coefficients, problems with one-side boundary controls of three basic types and a boundary condition of the third kind at the uncontrolled end are considered. For dual problems with one-side boundary observations in the classes of strong generalized solutions, new constructive observability inequalities are obtained that are superior to the earlier known ones in two respects. First, inequalities with an optimal value of the controllability-observability threshold are derived, and second, the value of the final evaluation constant is bounded away from zero on time intervals whose length is close to the critical length. This opens up a possibility of constructing stable approximate solutions to the indicated classes of dual control and observation problems on time intervals not only of an arbitrary supercritical but also of precisely critical length.  相似文献

A class of singularly perturbed nonlinear integro-differential problems with solutions involving internal transition layers (contrast structures) is considered. An asymptotic expansion of these solutions with respect to a small parameter is constructed, and the stability of stationary solutions to the associated integro-parabolic problems is investigated. The asymptotics are substantiated using the asymptotic method of differential inequalities, which is extended to the new class of problems. The method is based on well-known theorems about differential inequalities and on the idea of using formal asymptotics for constructing upper and lower solutions in singularly perturbed problems with internal and boundary layers.  相似文献

A class of nonlinear nonlocal singularly perturbed Robin initial boundary value problems for reaction diffusion equations with boundary perturbation is considered. Behavior of solutions of variational inequalities for a biharmonic operator is studied. These inequalities correspond to one-sided constraints on subsets of a domain Ω placed ε-periodically. We develop an approach for solving one-sided optimal stopping problems in discrete time for general underlying Markov processes on the real line. The main idea is to transform the problem into an auxiliary problem for the ladder height variables. In case that the original problem has a one-sided solution and the auxiliary problem has a monotone structure, the corresponding myopic stopping time is optimal for the original problem as well. This elementary line of argument directly leads to a characterization of the optimal boundary in the original problem. The optimal threshold is given by the threshold of the myopic stopping time in the auxiliary problem. Supplying also a sufficient condition for our approach to work, we obtain solutions for many prominent examples in the literature, among others the problems of Novikov-Shiryaev, Shepp-Shiryaev, and the American put in option pricing under general conditions. As a further application we show that for underlying random walks (and Lévy processes in continuous time), general monotone and log-concave reward functions g lead to one-sided stopping problems.  相似文献

First-order necessary optimality conditions are derived for a class of two-level Stackelberg problems in which the followers' lower-level problems are convex programs with unique solutions. To this purpose, generalized Jacobians of the marginal maps corresponding to followers' problems are estimated. As illustrative examples, two discretized optimum design problems with elliptic variational inequalities are investigated. The theoretical results may be used also for the numerical solution of the Stackelberg problems considered by nondifferentiable optimization methods.Communicated by M. Simaan  相似文献

For the wave equation, problems with two-sided boundary controls of three basic types are considered. Constructive estimates for the bounded invertibility of the control operator with known estimated constants are obtained in classes of weak generalized solutions on intervals of subcritical length. With the use of these estimates, stable numerical solutions of the considered problems on time intervals of strictly subcritical length can be found by applying a variational method. The main difference of the present estimated constants from those considered previously in the case of strong generalized solutions is that they degenerate as the time interval length approaches its critical value.  相似文献

Applying the method of upper and lower solutions, Leray–Schauder degree theory and one-sided Nagumo condition, we obtain the existence and uniqueness results for a class of nonlinear second-order four-point boundary value problems. By the generalized approximation method, a monotone iteration sequence which converges uniformly to the unique solution of the nonlinear problem and converges quadratically to the unique solution of the linear problem is also obtained.  相似文献

The method of boundary integral equations is developed as applied to initial-boundary value problems for strictly hyperbolic systems of second-order equations characteristic of anisotropic media dynamics. Based on the theory of distributions (generalized functions), solutions are constructed in the space of generalized functions followed by passing to integral representations and classical solutions. Solutions are considered in the class of singular functions with discontinuous derivatives, which are typical of physical problems describing shock waves. The uniqueness of the solutions to the initial-boundary value problems is proved under certain smoothness conditions imposed on the boundary functions. The Green’s matrix of the system and new fundamental matrices based on it are used to derive integral analogues of the Gauss, Kirchhoff, and Green formulas for solutions and solving singular boundary integral equations.  相似文献
