We demonstrate very high-contrast coherent population trapping(1) (CPT) resonances by using four-wave mixing in (87)Rb atoms. In the experiment, we take advantage of the spectral overlap between F=2-->F(?) and F=3-->F(?) optical resonances on the D1 line of (87)Rb and (85)Rb atoms, respectively, to eliminate the DC-light background from the CPT resonance signal. We observe a CPT resonance with a contrast in the range of 90%, compared with a few percent achieved by alternative methods.  相似文献

We present an experimental and theoretical investigation of the coherent population trapping (CPT) resonance excited on the D1 line of 87Rb atoms by bichromatic linearly polarized laser light. The experimental results show that a lin||lin tran- sition scheme is a promising alternative to the conventional circular-circular transition scheme for an atomic magnetometer. Compared with the circular light transition scheme, linear light accounts for high-contrast transmission resonances, which makes this excitation scheme promising for high-sensitivity magnetometers. We also use linear light and circular light to detect changes of a standard magnetic field, separately.  相似文献

We show that a characteristic two-photon lineshape asymmetry arises in coherent population trapping (CPT) and three-photon (N) resonances, because both resonances are simultaneously induced by modulation sidebands in the interrogating laser light. The N resonance is a three-photon resonance in which a two-photon Raman excitation is combined with a resonant optical pumping field. This joint CPT and N resonance can be the dominant source of lineshape distortion, with direct relevance for the operation of miniaturized atomic frequency standards. We present the results of both an experimental study and theoretical treatment of the asymmetry of the joint CPT and N resonance under conditions typical to the operation of an N resonance clock.  相似文献

We report an experimental comparison of three-photon-absorption resonances (N-resonances) for the D1 and D2 optical transitions of thermal (87)Rb vapor. We find that the D2 N-resonance has better contrast, a broader linewidth, and a more symmetric line shape than the D1 N-resonance. Taken together, these factors imply superior performance for frequency standards operating on alkali D2 N-resonances, in contrast with coherent population trapping resonances, for which the D2 transition provides poorer frequency standard performance than the D1 transition.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a novel technique for increasing the amplitude of coherent population trapping (CPT) resonances in open Lambda systems. The technique requires no complex modifications to the conventional CPT setup and is compatible with standard microfabrication processes. The improvement in the CPT resonance amplitude as a function of intensity of the excitation light agrees well with the theory based on ideal open and closed Lambda systems.  相似文献

A three photon resonance arising due to coherent population trapped (CPT) states in multi-level systems, is experimentally shown to be a powerful spectral marker to detect interacting CPT states. In systems showing N type or double Λ type level configurations, these absorption resonances can be used to identify spectral positions of maximal interactions between competing CPT ground states. The contrast of the absorption resonance serves to identify even partially destructive interactions between the CPT states, eliminating the need for strong resonant changes of ground state coherence for identification. We demonstrate this effect in a room temperature, gaseous collection of 87Rb. atoms. Three laser fields interact with a double Λ configuration in the Zeeman degenerate levels of the ground state 5S1/2S_{1/2}, F = 1 and those of the excited states 5P3/2P_{3/2}, F = 0,1, around the D2 line. The three-photon resonance is studied in the counter-propagating third field when the other two co-propagating fields satisfy the two-photon resonance condition necessary for creation of CPT states. We envisage that this absorption feature in the third field, can become a veritable tool to quantify degradation of CPT induced effects in engineered quantum states using multi-level systems.  相似文献

We present measurements of total and partial photoionization cross sections of Ne in the 1s excitation region. The total cross section exhibits resonances with symmetric profiles, whereas the branching ratios to the Ne+ 2p(4)(1D2)3p 2P, 2D, and 2F states present strong oscillations in the interresonance regions. We prove that not only the interference between the direct and resonant ionization processes but also the interference among the ionization processes via different nonisolated resonances are important for this effect.  相似文献

The electron-stimulated desorption (ESD) of D and H ions from condensed D2O and H2O films is investigated. Three low-energy peaks are observed in the ESD anion yield, which are identified as arising from excitation of 2B1, 2A1 and 2B2 dissociative electron attachment (DEA) resonances. Additional structure is observed between 18 and 32 eV, which may be due to ion pair formation or to DEA resonances involving the 2a1 orbital. The ion yield resulting from excitation of the 2B1 resonance increases as the film is heated. We attribute the increase in the ion yield to thermally induced hydrogen bond breaking near the surface, which enhances the lifetimes of the excited states that lead to desorption.  相似文献

We study bound states below threshold and resonances above threshold in the D0K+ and D(+)(s)eta systems, using a many-coupled-channel model for nonexotic meson-meson scattering applied to states with the quantum numbers of cs quark-antiquark vector mesons. We fit the ground state at 2.112 GeV, whence the lowest resonances in D0K+ come out at 2.61, 2.72, 3.03, and 3.08 GeV. The resonance at 2.61 GeV acquires a width of about 8 MeV, while its partial P wave cross section is up to 6 times larger in D(s)eta than in D0K+, provided a mechanism accounting for Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-forbidden decays is included. The latter finding is in agreement with the observations of the SELEX Collaboration with respect to the recently reported D(+)(sJ)(2632) resonance. Therefore, we conclude that the D(+)(sJ)(2632) is probably the first recurrence of the D(*)(s)(2112) meson.  相似文献

We have evaluated the suitability of a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser diode (VCSEL) for spectroscopic applications. Despite its low output power it is possible to observe narrow resonances in a saturated absorption spectroscopy experiment on the cesium D 2 transition at 852 nm, limited in width by the laser linewidth of several tens of MHz. High modulation efficiency of the VCSEL allows us to create modulation sidebands at 9.2 GHz frequency via direct modulation of the laser injection current. Using the carrier and either one of the sidebands coherent population trapping (CPT) resonances in a buffered cesium vapor can be prepared with linewidths below 130 Hz. With this very compact setup we have studied the dependence of CPT resonance position and linewidth as a function of optical detuning and find evidence of the influence of the excited state hyperfine structure. The high-frequency susceptibility spectra of ferromagnetic films supporting a weak-stripe-domain structure are computed using a 2D dynamic micromagnetic model that we have developed. The existence of multiple resonances resulting from the excitation of surface and volume modes is predicted. The main features of spectra (number of resonances, resonance frequencies, intensities, and linewidths) strongly depend on the equilibrium spin configuration and on the rf exciting field orientation. These theoretical results are successfully compared with zero-field microwave permeability measurements.  相似文献

The double pi(0) photoproduction off the proton has been measured in the beam energy range of 0.65-1.5 GeV. The total and differential cross sections and the Sigma beam asymmetry were extracted. The total cross section measured for the first time in the third resonance region of the nucleon shows a prominent peak. The interpretation of these results by two independent theoretical models infers mostly the selective excitation of P11- and D13-nucleon resonances.  相似文献

Two 3D experiments, (H)CCH(3)-TOCSY and H(C)CH(3)-TOCSY, are proposed for resonance assignment of methyl-containing amino acid side chains. After the initial proton-carbon INEPT step, during which either carbon or proton chemical shift labeling is achieved (t(1)), the magnetization is spread along the amino acid side chains by a carbon spin lock. The chemical shifts of methyl carbons are labeled (t(2)) during the following constant time interval. Finally the magnetization is transferred, in a reversed INEPT step, to methyl protons for detection (t(3)). The proposed experiments are characterized by high digital resolution in the methyl carbon dimension (t(2max) = 28.6 ms), optimum sensitivity due to the use of proton decoupling during the long constant time interval, and an optional removal of CH(2), or CH(2) and CH, resonances from the F(2)F(3) planes. The building blocks used in these experiments can be implemented in a range of heteronuclear experiments focusing on methyl resonances in proteins. The techniques are illustrated using a (15)N, (13)C-labeled E93D mutant of Schizosacharomyces pombe phosphoglycerate mutase (23.7 kDa).  相似文献

Dipole excitations in highly excited energy regions of (6)He and (7)He nuclei were investigated via the ((7)Li,(7)Be) reaction with an incident energy of 65A MeV at forward scattering angles. The resonances at Q approximately equal to -30 MeV observed commonly for both (6)Li and (7)Li targets were found to be excited via both spin-flip and spin-nonflip transitions with DeltaL = 1. Based on the observed excitation energy, width, and cross section of each resonance, the relevant resonances are inferred to be analogs of the dipole resonances of alpha clusters in the (6)Li and (7)Li nuclei.  相似文献

We propose and study, theoretically and experimentally, a new scheme of excitation of a coherent population trapping resonance for the D1 line of alkali atoms with nuclear spin I = 3/2 by bichromatic linearly polarized light (lin‖lin field) under the conditions of spectral resolution of the excited state. 基于高效镇痛剂双氢埃托啡游离碱,对蒂巴因衍生物的立体化学结构的NMR 测定方法进行了研究.结果表明,采用多频率位移选择激发一维NOESY(1D NOESY)和二维NMR(2D NMR)相结合的方法,可有效解决该类化合物1H 和13C NMR 谱复杂重叠的信号归属困难的问题.同时在阐明溶液构象的基础上,提出采用一维NOE(1D NOE)测定C-7和差向异构体的新方法.该方法简单、有效、不受样品浓度影响和杂质信号干扰,结果可靠,不需要标准品对照等优点.该结果有助于此类化合物的立体结构与生物活性关系的研究.  相似文献

We report measurements of the properties of the D(+)(sJ)(2317) and D(+)(sJ)(2457) resonances produced in continuum e(+)e(-) annihilation near sqrt[s]=10.6 GeV. The analysis is based on an 86.9 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. We determine the masses to be M(D(+)(sJ)(2317))=2317.2+/-0.5(stat)+/-0.9(syst) MeV/c(2) and M(D(+)(sJ)(2457))=2456.5+/-1.3(stat)+/-1.3(syst) MeV/c(2). We observe the radiative decay mode D(+)(sJ)(2457)-->D(+)(s)gamma and the dipion decay mode D(+)(sJ)(2457)-->D(+)(s)pi(+)pi(-) and determine their branching fractions. No corresponding decays are observed for the D(sJ)(2317) state. These results are consistent with the spin-parity assignments of 0(+) for the D(sJ)(2317) and 1(+) for the D(sJ)(2457).  相似文献

The resonances of coherent population trapping (CPT) excited by a frequency-modulated (FM) field at the Zeeman sublevels during the transition F g = 2 → F e = 1 of the 87Rb D 1-absorption line were studied theoretically. The influence of the nonlinear Zeeman effect on the structure of the observed resonances was considered. The spectra of CPT resonances were calculated for different values of magnetic field induction and compared with the experimental data.  相似文献

The possibility of the use of the F = 2?F = 1 transition of the D 1 absorption line of the 87Rb atom for creating of a single-photon quantum filter based on coherent population trapping (CPT) has been analyzed. It has been shown that the external magnetic field is necessary for ensuring the creation of the quantum filter on boson isotopes of alkali atoms. The field strength should be enough for the manifestation of the splitting of the Zeeman CPT resonances that is much larger than their spectral widths. The splittings of the CPT resonances, which characterize the nonlinearity of the Zeeman effect, have been measured for the 87Rb atom and the possibility of the use of this system for the quantum filter is concluded.  相似文献

Adsorption of alkali atoms on the (1 1 1) and (1 0 0) noble metal surfaces has been shown recently to induce long-lived resonances located inside the surface projected band gap. However, the width of these resonances, as it appears in two-photon photo-emission experiments, is much larger than the inverse of their lifetime. We report on a theoretical study of some broadening mechanisms of these resonance lines in the Na/Cu(1 1 1) and Cs/Cu(1 1 1) systems at low coverage, including the homogeneous natural line broadening and the inhomogeneous statistical broadenings due to the distribution of adsorption heights associated to the quantal vibration of the alkali adsorbate and to the lateral disorder of alkali adsorption on the surface. The inhomogeneous mechanisms are shown to induce a very large broadening of the resonance line, in quantitative agreement with experimental results. The most important broadening effect appears to be the effect of the distribution of alkali adsorption heights.  相似文献
