We report the temperature dependence of susceptibility for various pressures, magnetic fields and constant magnetic field of 5 T with various pressures on La2−2xSr1+2xMn2O7 single crystal to understand the effectiveness of pressure and magnetic field in altering the magnetic properties. We find that the Curie temperature, Tc, increases under pressure (dTc/dP=10.9 K/GPa) and it indicates the enhancement of ferromagnetic phase under pressure up to 2 GPa. The magnetic field dependence of Tc is about 26 K for 3 T. The combined effect of pressure and constant magnetic field (5 T) shows dTc/dP=11.3 K/GPa and the peak structure is suppressed and broadened. The application of magnetic field of 5 T realizes 3D spin ordered state below Tc at atmospheric pressure. Both peak structure in χc and 3D spin ordered state are suppressed, and changes to 2D-like spin ordered state by increase of pressure. These results reveal that the pressure and the magnetic field are more competitive in altering the magnetic properties of bilayer manganite La1.25Sr1.75Mn2O7 single crystal.  相似文献

The magnetizations of Zr76Ni24 metallic glass and hydrogen-doped partially crystalline (Zr76Ni24)1−xHx metallic glasses have been measured in the temperature range 10-300 K and magnetic fields up to 2 T for various dopant concentrations (x=0, 0.024, 0.043, 0.054). It is found that the samples are paramagnetic and magnetic susceptibility at room temperature, χ(300 K), shows a nonmonotonic behaviour upon hydrogenation. The values of χ(300 K) of the hydrogen-doped partially crystalline (Zr76Ni24)1−xHx metallic glasses are reduced with increase in hydrogen content up to x=0.043, whereas for x=0.054, an enhancement of χ(300 K) has been revealed. The magnetic susceptibility is weakly temperature dependent down to 110 K, below which an increase is observed. A shallow minimum exists between 90 and 120 K. The form and magnitude of the observed temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility are well accounted for by the sum of the quantum corrections to the magnetic susceptibility. Hydrogen reduces the electronic diffusion constant and influences strongly the quantum interference at defects, slowing down the spin diffusion and enhancing the magnetic susceptibility in the temperature range from 110 down to 10 K.  相似文献

A study of the half-metallic character of the semi Heusler alloys Co1−xCuxMnSb (0?x?0.9) is presented. We investigated the saturation magnetization MS at temperatures from 5 K to room temperature and the temperature dependence of the DC magnetic susceptibility χ above Curie temperature TC. The magnetic moments at 5 K, for most compositions are very close to the quantized value of 4 μB for Mn3+ ion, the compound with 90% Co substituted by Cu is still ferromagnetic with MS (5 K)=3.78 μB/f.u. These results emphasize the role of Co atoms in maintaining the ferromagnetic order in the material. The Curie temperature is decreased from 476 K to about 300 K as the Cu content increases from 0% to 90%. Above TC, the χ−1 vs T curves follow very well the Curie–Weiss law. The effective moment μeff and paramagnetic Curie temperature θ are derived. A comparison between the values of MS at 5 K and μeff shows a transition from localized to itinerant spin system in these compounds.  相似文献

Considering certain interesting features in the previously reported 166Er Mössbauer effect, and neutron diffraction data on the polycrystalline form of ErPd2Si2 crystallizing in the ThCr2Si2-type tetragonal structure, we have carried out magnetic measurements (1.8–300 K) on the single crystalline form of this compound. We observe significant anisotropy in the absolute values of magnetization (indicating that the easy axis is c-axis) as well as in features due to magnetic ordering in the plot of magnetic susceptibility χ versus temperature T at low temperatures. The χ(T) data reveal that there is a pseudo-low-dimensional magnetic order setting in at 4.8 K, with a three-dimensional antiferromagnetic order setting in at a lower temperature (3.8 K). A new finding in the χ(T) data is that, for H∥〈1 1 0〉 but not for H∥〈0 0 1〉, there is a broad shoulder in the range 8–20 K, indicative of the existence of magnetic correlations above 5 K as well, which could be related to the previously reported slow-relaxation-dominated Mössbauer spectra. Interestingly, the temperature coefficient of electrical resistivity is found to be isotropic; no feature due to magnetic ordering could be detected in the electrical resistivity data at low temperatures, which is attributed to magnetic Brillioun-zone boundary gap effects. The results reveal the complex nature of magnetism of this compound.  相似文献

Temperature dependences of heat capacity CP(T) and magnetization M(T) of an icosahedral dysprosium boride (DyB62) single crystal have been experimentally investigated in the temperature range of 2-300 K. The magnetic susceptibility χ(T) of DyB62 follows Curie-Weiss law with a paramagnetic Curie temperature of −3.7 K, which implies that the antiferromagnetic interactions are dominant in this material and suggests the possibility of magnetic ordering at low temperatures. This conjecture is supported by the temperature dependence of heat capacity CP(T), which decreases upon heating from 2 to 7 K. The heat capacity of DyB62 at 2 K is analyzed as a sum of magnetic, Debye, two-level system and soft atomic potential components.  相似文献

Antiferromagnetic phase transition in two vanadium garnets AgCa2Co2V3O12 and AgCa2Ni2V3O12 has been found and investigated extensively. The heat capacity exhibits sharp peak due to the antiferromagnetic order with the Néel temperature TN=6.39 K for AgCa2Co2V3O12 and 7.21 K for AgCa2Ni2V3O12, respectively. The magnetic susceptibilities exhibit broad maximum, and these TN correspond to the inflection points of the magnetic susceptibility χ a little lower than T(χmax). The magnetic entropy changes from zero to 20 K per mol Co2+ and Ni2+ ions are 5.31 J K−1 mol-Co2+-ion−1 and 6.85 J K−1 mol-Ni2+-ion−1, indicating S=1/2 for Co2+ ion and S=1 for Ni2+ ion. The magnetic susceptibility of AgCa2Ni2V3O12 shows the Curie-Weiss behavior between 20 and 350 K with the effective magnetic moment μeff=3.23 μB Ni2+-ion−1 and the Weiss constant θ=−16.4 K (antiferromagnetic sign). Nevertheless, the simple Curie-Weiss law cannot be applicable for AgCa2Co2V3O12. The complex temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility has been interpreted within the framework of Tanabe-Sugano energy diagram, which is analyzed on the basis of crystalline electric field. The ground state is the spin doublet state 2E(t26e) and the first excited state is spin quartet state 4T1(t25e2) which locates extremely close to the ground state. The low spin state S=1/2 for Co2+ ion is verified experimentally at least below 20 K which is in agreement with the result of the heat capacity.  相似文献

Magnetic properties and magnetic entropy change ΔS were investigated in Heusler alloy Ni43Mn43Co3Sn11. With decreasing temperature this alloy undergoes a martensitic structural transition at TM=188 K. The incorporation of Co atoms enhances ferromagnetic exchange for parent phases. Austenitic phase with cubic structure shows strong ferromagnetic behaviors with Curie temperature TCA at 346 K, while martensitic phase shows weak ferromagnetic properties. An external magnetic field can shift TM to a lower temperature at a rate of 4.4 K/T, and a field-induced structural transition from martensitic to austenitic state takes place at temperatures near but below TM. As a result, a great magnetic entropy change with positive sign appears. The size of ΔS reaches 33 J/kg K under 5 T magnetic field. More important is that the ΔS displays a table-like peak under 5 T, which is favorable for Ericsson-type refrigerators.  相似文献

A detailed study of the low-temperature magnetic state and the relaxation in the phase-separated colossal magnetoresistance Nd2/3Ca1/3MnO3 perovskite has been carried out. Clear experimental evidence of the cluster-glass magnetic behavior of this compound has been revealed. Well defined maxima in the in-phase linear ac susceptibility χ′(T) were observed, indicative of the magnetic glass transition at Tg∼60 K. Strongly divergent zero-field-cooled and field-cooled static magnetizations and frequency dependent ac susceptibility are evident of the glassy-like magnetic state of the compound at low temperatures. The frequency dependence of the cusp temperature Tmax of the χ′(T) susceptibility was found to follow the critical slowing down mechanism. The Cole–Cole analysis of the dynamic susceptibility at low temperature has shown extremely broad distribution of relaxation times, indicating that spins are frozen at “macroscopic” time scale. Slow relaxation in the zero-field-cooled magnetization has been experimentally revealed. The obtained results do not agree with a canonical spin-glass state and indicate a cluster glass magnetic state of the compound below Tg, associated with its antiferromagnetic–ferromagnetic nano-phase segregated state. It was found that the relaxation mechanisms below the cluster glass freezing temperature Tg and above it are strongly different. Magnetic field up to about μ0H∼0.4 T suppresses the glassy magnetic state of the compound.  相似文献

Fe50Ni37Mn13, which is a ferromagnetic alloy with FCC crystal structure, has been reported to show the Invar effect below the Curie temperature; however, this alloy shows a typical anti-Invar effect above the Curie temperature. In this paper, we discuss the pressure dependence of the temperature variation of the alternative current (AC) susceptibility at a frequency of 1 kHz for Fe50Ni37Mn13 at various pressures up to 7.5 GPa above 77 K; we then compare the results with those for Fe68.1Ni31.9, which were obtained in a previous study. Fe50Ni37Mn13 was in a ferromagnetic state throughout the entire pressure range measured. TC decreases in inverse proportion to the increasing pressure; dTC/dp and dln TC/dp for Fe50Ni37Mn13 are −26 K GPa−1 and −0.07 GPa−1, respectively. Further, the temperature variation of the shape of the χ′-T curve for different pressures indicates continuous combining of magnetic interactions occurs at high pressures. These results are similar to those obtained for Fe68.1Ni31.9.  相似文献

La0.85−xSmxAg0.15MnO3 (x=0−0.2) ceramics were prepared using the conventional solid-state synthesis method to investigate the effect of Sm3+ substitution on magnetic and electrical transport properties. Magnetic susceptibility versus temperature measurements showed all samples exhibit ferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition with Curie temperature, Tc decreasing from 283 K (x=0) to 164 K (x=0.2) with increasing Sm3+. The observed slope in susceptibility, χ′ versus temperature curves below Tc indicates the possible presence of FM and AFM phases in the metallic region. In addition, a deviation from the Curie-Weiss law above Tc in 1/χ′ versus T curves indicates the existence of a Griffith's phase in the x=0.05−0.2 samples due to the Sm3+ ion substitution. The Griffith temperature, TG was found to decrease from 295 K (x=0.05) to 229 K (x=0.2). Electrical resistivity measurements of the samples in zero field showed transition from metallic behavior to insulating behavior as the temperature was increased. For x=0, two metal-insulator, MI transition peaks were observed at Tp1=282 K and at Tp2=250 K. Both peaks shifted to lower temperatures with the increase in Sm3+. The relative resistivity of the first peak to the second peak decreases with increasing Sm3+ for x>0.05 while at x=0.2 the Tp1 peak was strongly suppressed. Magnetoresistance, MR was observed to weaken with Sm3+ substitution. The metallic region of the ρ(T) curve of the x=0−0.15 samples was fitted to the model of electron-electron and electron-magnon scattering while the insulating region was fitted to the variable range hopping, VRH model. The resistivity behavior indicated that the substitution of Sm3+ weakened the double exchange process and enhanced the Jahn-Teller effect. Our results indicated that the Tp1 peak is strongly related to the double-exchange mechanism while the Tp2 peak is suggested to originate from magnetic inhomogeneity.  相似文献

Magnetization and susceptibility were investigated as a function of temperature and magnetic field in polycrystalline Mn[Cr0.5Ga1.5]S4 spinel. The dc susceptibility measurements at 919 Oe showed a disordered ferrimagnetic behaviour with a Curie-Weiss temperature θCW=−55 K and an effective magnetic moment of 5.96 μB close to the spin-only value of 6.52 μB for Cr3+ and Mn2+ ions in the 3d3 and 3d5 configurations, respectively. The magnetization measured at 100 Oe revealed the multiple magnetic transitions with a sharp maximum at the Néel temperature TN=3.9 K, a minimum at the Yafet-Kittel temperature TYK=5 K, a broad maximum at the freezing temperature Tf=7.9 K, and an inflection point at the Curie temperature TC=48 K indicating a transition to paramagnetic phase. A large splitting between the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetizations at a temperature smaller than TC suggests the presence of spin-glass-like behaviour. This behaviour is considered in a framework of competing interactions between the antiferromagnetic ordering of the A(Mn) sublattice and the ferromagnetic ordering of the B(Cr) sublattice.  相似文献

Structural, magnetic and hyperfine interaction measurements have been carried out on the novel compound La3.5Ru4O13 prepared under two different atmospheres (air and oxygen flow). This compound is formed in the orthorhombic structure (space group Pmmm, # 47). The coexistence of the triple-layered perovskite-type planes (quasi-2D structure) and the rutile-like slabs (1D structure) leads to interesting magnetic and electronic properties in this compound. The magnetic susceptibility of this system shows a peak at T~47 K associated with antiferromagnetic interactions. The Curie-Weiss behaviour of the susceptibility provides an effective magnetic moment consistent with Ru ions in low-spin state. Perturbed angular correlation measurements carried out with 111Cd probe in the temperature range 10-60 K reveal only quadrupole interactions and indicate the occurrence of structural distortions for T<40 K.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of four sigma-phase Fe100−xVx samples with 34.4?x?55.1 were investigated by Mössbauer spectroscopy and magnetic measurements in the temperature interval 4.2-300 K. Four magnetic quantities, viz. hyperfine field, Curie temperature, magnetic moment and susceptibility, were determined. The sample containing 34.4 at% V was revealed to exhibit the largest values found up to now for the sigma-phase for average hyperfine field, 〈B〉=12.1 T, average magnetic moment per Fe atom, 〈μ〉=0.89 μB, and Curie temperature, TC=315.3 K. The quantities were shown to be strongly correlated with each other. In particular, TC is linearly correlated with 〈μ〉 with a slope of 406.5 K/μB, as well as 〈B〉 is so correlated with 〈μ〉, yielding 14.3 T/μB for the hyperfine coupling constant.  相似文献

Temperature and frequency dependencies of the real (χ′) and imaginary (χ″) parts of the dynamic magnetic susceptibility were studied experimentally in fine particles of La-Ag manganites prepared by various methods. The samples under study have the Curie points in the range TC=42-48 °C, which is a medical hyperthermia range of interest. When approaching TC from below, a critical peak of χ″ was revealed, followed by a steep drop while passing to the paramagnetic phase. The experiments on the magnetic radio-frequency (RF) heating of the manganite aqueous suspensions demonstrated good autostabilization of the temperature near TC. Peculiar instability is found in the heating kinetics, caused by the observed critical behavior of the RF losses. The prospects of the La-Ag manganites as candidates for application in the temperature-controlled hyperthermia are discussed.  相似文献

Thermo-gravimetric, differential scanning calorimetry and comprehensive 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy studies of amorphous and crystalline ferromagnetic glass coated (Co0.2Fe0.8)72.5Si12.5B15 micro-wires have been recorded. The Curie temperature of the amorphous phase is TC(amorp) ∼730 K. The analysis of the Mössbauer spectra reveals that below 623 K the easy axis of the magnetization is axial-along the wires, and that a tangential or/and radial orientation occurs at higher temperatures. At 770 K, in the first 4 hours the Mössbauer spectrum exhibits a pure paramagnetic doublet. Crystallization and decomposition to predominantly α-Fe(Si) and Fe2B occurs either by raising the temperature above 835 K or isothermally in time at lower temperatures. Annealing for a day at 770 K, leads to crystallization. In the crystalline material the magnetic moments have a complete random orientation. After cooling back to ambient temperature, both α-Fe(Si) and Fe2B in the glass coated wire show pure axial magnetic orientation like in the original amorphous state. The observed spin reorientations are associated with changes in the stress induced by the glass coating.  相似文献

Polycrystalline samples of a new rare-earth series RPd5Al2 crystallizing in the tetragonal ZrNi2Al5-type structure have been prepared. Their physical properties by electrical resistivity ρ, magnetic susceptibility χ, magnetization M and specific heat Cp measurements are reported. The ingots are composed of elongated grains preferentially aligned in the c direction; therefore, measurements were conducted parallel and perpendicular to the grains. Antiferromagnetic ordering appears in R=Ce, Nd, Gd, and Sm at low temperatures. CePd5Al2 has two AFM transitions at 4.1 and 2.9 K and ρ(T) indicates a Kondo metal behavior with large anisotropy. In PrPd5Al2 no magnetic transition was observed down to 0.4 K. The Cp(T) shows a broad peak around 13 K due to the CEF effect, suggesting a non-magnetic singlet ground state. In NdPd5Al2, χ(T) shows anisotropy and the Cp(T) shows a sharp peak at 1.2 K. The magnetic entropy at 3 K is very close to Rln2, indicating a Kramers doublet ground state. In SmPd5Al2, Cp(T) shows a magnetic transition at 1.7 K. Cp(T) for GdPd5Al2 shows a peak at 6 K, followed by a broad anomaly around 3 K. Within this series, TN's for CePd5Al2 and NdPd5Al2 clearly deviate from the relation predicted by de Gennes scaling, which is ascribed to the CEF effect.  相似文献

Ytterbium tri-fluoromethanesulfonate (YbTFMS) single crystals are prepared from the slow evaporation of the aqueous solution of YbTFMS and the principal magnetic susceptibility perpendicular to the c-axis of the hexagonal crystal (χ) is measured from 300 K down to 13 K. Principal magnetic anisotropy Δχ(=χχ) is measured from 300 K down to 80 K which provides principal magnetic susceptibility parallel to the c-axis (χ) down to 80 K. Very good theoretical simulation of the observed magnetic properties of YbTFMS has been obtained using one electron crystal field (CF) analysis having C3h site symmetry. No signature of ordering effect in the observed magnetic data is noticed down to the lowest temperature (13 K) attained, indicating the inter-ionic interaction to be of predominantly dipolar type. The calculated g-values are found to be g=2.67 and g=2.51, respectively. CF analysis provides the electronic specific heat which gives two Schottky anomalies in its thermal variation down to ∼13 K. The temperature dependences of quadrupole splitting and hyperfine heat capacity are studied from the necessary information obtained from the CF analysis.  相似文献

The La1.32Sr1.68Mn2O7 layered manganite system has been studied by the low temperature electrical resistance and magnetoresistance under hydrostatic pressure up to 25 kbar. We have observe both, a Curie temperature (TC) and a metal-insulator transition (TMI) at 118 K in the ambient pressure. The applied pressure shifts the TMI to higher temperature values and induces a second metal-insulator transition (T2MI) at 90 K, in the temperature dependence of resistivity measurements. Also, the pressure suppresses the peak resistance abruptly at TC. When an external field of 5 T is applied, we have observed a large negative magnetoresistance of 300% at the transition temperature and a 128% at 4.5 K. However, the increased pressure decreases the magnetoresistance ratio gradually. When the pressure reaches its maximum available value of 25 kbar, the magnetoresistance ratio decreases at a rate of 1.3%/kbar. From our experimental results, the decrease of magnetoresistance ratio with pressure is explained by the pressure induced canted spin state which is not favor for the spin polarized intergrain tunneling in layered manganites.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the ac susceptibility (χ) at constant applied magnetic field was investigated in the paramagnetic region of the quasi-2D ferromagnet (CH3NH3)2CuCl4. Above the Curie temperature (TC=8.85 K) a maximum in the χ(T,H) curves was observed at Tm(H). The temperature at the maximum increases with increasing applied field. This anomaly is related to short range fluctuations close the order transition. The behavior of Tm(H) is governed by the gap exponent of the scaling function (Δ=γ+β). We found Δ=2.2±0.1 in very good agreement with the previously known values of γ and β.  相似文献

The temperature and field dependent magnetic properties of melt-spun amorphous Fe89−xyZr11Bx(Co,Mn)y (x=5, 10 and 0≤y≤10) alloys in the temperature range 5-1200 K are reported. The Curie temperature and saturation magnetization at room temperature increase (decrease) almost linearly with Co (Mn) addition. With increasing Co concentration, the room temperature coercivity increases at the rate of 2.26 (0.28) A/m per at% for the x=5 (10) samples. The high-field magnetic susceptibility and local magnetic anisotropy decrease (increases) rapidly with increasing Co (Mn) concentration. The thermomagnetic curves show a marked increase in magnetization above 850 K corresponding to the crystallization of α-FeCo (α-Fe) phase in samples containing Co (Mn). The Curie temperature of the crystalline phase increases (remains same) with increasing Co (Mn) concentration with the formation of α-FeCo (α-Fe). Addition of Co up to 10 at% in Fe-Zr-B improves the room temperature saturation magnetization from 0.56 to 1.2 T, and Curie temperature from 315 to 476 K. Also, the coercivity increases with Co addition from 1.27 to 23.88 A/m for x=5 and from 7.64 to 10.35 A/m for x=10 alloy. The non-collinear spin structures that characterize Fe rich Fe-Zr-B amorphous alloys have been used to describe the observed results.  相似文献
