Summary For the Prandtl numberP in the rangeP 1/3 1 ( is the ratio between the thermal conductivities of the boundary and of the fluid) two-dimensional rolls are preferred in contrast to square-pattern convection that represents the preferred stable convection in the rangeP 1/3.

Pair algebras which have a non degenerate (left- and right-) invariant bilinear form and for which the inner derivation algebra is completely reducible are characterised by pairs (C,), where C is a n×n matrix satisfying certain conditions and is a sequence of n integers equal to 0 or 1. They occur as pair algebras of type (S(C,)–1,S(C,)1), xuy=[[x,u],y], where (S(C,)r)r is the gradation induced by . in the Kac-Moody algebraS(C). If C is an affin Cartan matrix (as in the case of Lie triple systems), there exists a finite dimensional simple Lie algebrag and a Aut (g), ord =m< such that the pair algebra is isomorphic to the pair algebra (g –1,g 1), xuy=[[x,u],y] (product ing), whereg i. is the eigenspace of of eigenvalue i, a primitive m-th root of unity.  相似文献

Summary LetB=(B t,t0) be a planar Brownian motion and let >0. For anyt0, the pointz=B t is called a one-sided cone point with angle if there exist >0 and a wedgeW(,z) with vertexz and angle such thatB sW(,z) for everys[t, t+]. Burdzy and Shimura have shown independently that one-sided cone points with angle exist when >/2 but not when   相似文献

Summary We consider a minimal form of the usual conditions for the dependent central limit theorem and invariance principle for near martingales. We show that these conditions imply convergence to Brownian motion in a way that is slightly stronger than weak convergence in D[0,). On the other hand, if a sequence of processes with paths in D[0,) converges to Brownian motion in this way, then we can always find a sequence of partitions of the time axis that is such that these conditions hold for the corresponding array of increments.  相似文献

Summary In this paper, the object of study is reflected Brownian motion in a cone ind-dimensions (d3) with nonconstant oblique reflection on each radial line emanating from the vertex of the cone. The basic question considered here is When is this process a semimartingale?. Conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the process for which the vertex is an instantaneous state were given by Kwon, which is resolved in terms of a real parameter depending on the cone and the direction of reflection. It is shown that starting from any point of the cone, the process is a semimartingale if < 1, + 0 and not a semimartingale if < < 2.This research is supported by KOSEF grant 941-0100-011-1  相似文献

We deal with one-parameter families of optimization problems in finite dimensions. The constraints are both of equality and inequality type. The concept of a generalized critical point (g.c. point) is introduced. In particular, every local minimum, Kuhn-Tucker point, and point of Fritz John type is a g.c. point. Under fairly weak (even generic) conditions we study the set consisting of all g.c. points. Due to the parameter, the set is pieced together from one-dimensional manifolds. The points of can be divided into five (characteristic) types. The subset of nondegenerate critical points (first type) is open and dense in (nondegenerate means: strict complementarity, nondegeneracy of the corresponding quadratic form and linear independence of the gradients of binding constraints). A nondegenerate critical point is completely characterized by means of four indices. The change of these indices along is presented. Finally, the Kuhn-Tucker subset of is studied in more detail, in particular in connection with the (failure of the) Mangasarian-Fromowitz constraint qualification.  相似文献

Two discrete modular lattice and have isomorphic graphs if and only if is of the form A × and is of the form A × for some lattices A and and . We prove that for discrete semimodular lattices and this latter condition holds if and only if and have isomorphic graphs and the isomorphism preserves the order on all cover-preserving sublattices of which are isomorphic to the seven-element, semimodular, nonmodular lattice (see Figure 1). This answers in the affirmative a question posed by J. Jakubik.  相似文献

Let L be a distributive lattice characterized by a ternary operation (, ,), where (a,b,c)=(ab)(bc)(ac)=(ab)(ac)(bc), a,b,cL. The note considers convex sublattices of L, called generalized ideals of L generated by the operation (, ,). Some remarks have been stated about the graph of a distributive lattice.  相似文献

It is well known that the sojourn time of Brownian motion B(t), t>0 on the positive half-line, during the interval [0, t] and under the condition B(t)=0, is uniformly distributed, while it has the form of the corrected arc-sine law when the condition B(t)>0 is assumed. We find the analogues of these laws for processes X(t), t>0 governed by signed measures whose densities are the fundamental solutions of third and fourth-order heat-type equations. Surprisingly, both laws hold for the fourth-order process. The uniform law is still valid for the third-order process but a different law emerges when the condition X(t)>0 is considered.  相似文献

Summary LetC be the symmetric cusp {(x, y)2:–x yx ,x0} where >1. In this paper we decide whether or not reflecting Brownian motion inC has a semimartingale representation. Here the reflecting Brownian motion has directions of reflection that make constant angles with the unit inward normals to the boundary. Our results carry through for a wide class of asymmetric cusps too.  相似文献

In this paper equivalent classes of the classes M' and S' p r, p >1, 0,r {0,1,2,...,[]} defined by Sheng [5] are obtained. Then it is shown that the classes of Fourier coefficients S p, S' p(case r==0) and S p(), p>1, defined by . V. Stanojevi, V. B. Stanojevi Sheng and the author of the present note are identical. As a corollary of this result, the L 1-estimate for cosine series, obtained in [10], is refined.  相似文献

We study the lower semicontinuous envelope in Lp(), F, of a functional F of the form F(u)=A uudx where A=A(x) is not strictly elliptic and not bounded. We prove that F; may also be written as F;(u)= Buudx with B=AP A for a matrix P which is the matrix of an orthogonal projection. In the one-dimensional case, we characterize the domain of F and we explicit the matrix P.  相似文献

Summary Consider a random walk S n on the integers, where the steps i have mean 0 and variance 2. Let T be the time of first self-intersection of the random walk. It is shown that, as , T grows at rate 2/3. More precisely, T2/3 has a non-degenerate limit distribution which can be described in terms of Brownian motion local time.Research supported by National Science Foundation Grant MCS80-02698.  相似文献

Let H(0) be a dilation-analytic three-particle Schrödinger operator with analytic continuation H() (>0). Let a be zero or the energy of a two-particle bound state. Let- (a) be the Laplace operator representing the kinetic energy of the relative motion of fragments scattered in channel a. By recent results, wave operators W (±, a, ) with conjugates W (±, a, ) exist such that W (±, a, ) W (±, a, ) is a projection P (a, ) commuting with H () while [H ()-a]W (±, a, ) equals-W(±, a, ) (a) e2i. This paper shows that the wave operators transform dilation-analytic functions of particle coordinates into dilation-analytic functions. Specifically, if the left shoulder of the spectrum of P (a,) H () does not sweep across eigenvalues of H() when , then W(-, a, ) and W (+, a, ) are dilation analytic in [, ]. If the right shoulder does not sweep across eigenvalues, W(+, a, ) and W(-, a, ) are dilation analytic in [,]. A semisimple eigenvalue of H () embedded in the spectrum of P (a, ) H () does not prevent the wave operators from being dilation analytic in an interval [, ] with as an interior point. This work was supported in part by the National Science Foundation under grant DMS-8301096.  相似文献

Summary We investigate classes of conditioned super-Brownian motions, namely H-transformsP H with non-negative finitely-based space-time harmonic functionsH(t, ). We prove thatH H is the unique solution of a martingale problem with interaction and is a weak limit of a sequence of rescaled interacting branching Brownian motions. We identify the limit behaviour of H-transforms with functionsH(t, )=h(t, (1)) depending only on the total mass (1). Using the Palm measures of the super-Brownian motion we describe for an additive spacetime harmonic functionH(t, )=h(t, x) (dx) theH-transformP H as a conditioned super-Brownian motion in which an immortal particle moves like an h-transform of Brownian motion.  相似文献
