The problem of absence of eigenvalues imbedded into the continuous spectrum is considered for a Schrödinger operator with a periodic potential perturbed by a sufficiently fast decaying "impurity" potential. Results of this type have previously been known for the one-dimensional case only. Absence of embedded eigenvalues is shown in dimensions two and three if the corresponding Fermi surface is irreducible modulo natural symmetries. It is conjectured that all periodic potentials satisfy this condition. Separable periodic potentials satisfy it, and hence in dimensions two and three Schrödinger operator with a separable periodic potential perturbed by a sufficiently fast decaying "impurity" potential has no embedded eigenvalues  相似文献

Under an appropriate oscillating behavior of the nonlinear term, the existence of infinitely many periodic solutions for a class of second order Hamiltonian systems is established. Moreover, the existence of two non-trivial periodic solutions for Hamiltonian systems with not coercive potential is obtained, and the existence of three periodic solutions for Hamiltonian systems with coercive potential is pointed out. We consider the one-particle discrete Schrödinger operator H with a periodic potential perturbed by a function ?W that is periodic in two variables and exponentially decreasing in the third variable. Here, ? is a small parameter. We study the scattering problem for H near the point of extremum with respect to the third quasimomentum coordinate for a certain eigenvalue of the Schrödinger operator with a periodic potential in the cell, in other words, for the small perpendicular component of the angle of particle incidence on the potential barrier ?W. We obtain simple formulas for the transmission and reflection probabilities.  相似文献

We extend the Rayleigh-Ritz method to the eigen-problem of periodic matrix pairs. Assuming that the deviations of the desired periodic eigenvectors from the corresponding periodic subspaces tend to zero, we show that there exist periodic Ritz values that converge to the desired periodic eigenvalues unconditionally, yet the periodic Ritz vectors may fail to converge. To overcome this potential problem, we minimize residuals formed with periodic Ritz values to produce the refined periodic Ritz vectors, which converge under the same assumption. These results generalize the corresponding well-known ones for Rayleigh-Ritz approximations and their refinement for non-periodic eigen-problems. In addition, we consider a periodic Arnoldi process which is particularly efficient when coupled with the Rayleigh-Ritz method with refinement. The numerical results illustrate that the refinement procedure produces excellent approximations to the original periodic eigenvectors.  相似文献

Coupled-mode systems are used in physical literature to simplify the nonlinear Maxwell and Gross–Pitaevskii equations with a small periodic potential and to approximate localized solutions called gap solitons by analytical expressions involving hyperbolic functions. We justify the use of the 1D stationary coupled-mode system for a relevant elliptic problem by employing the method of Lyapunov–Schmidt reductions in Fourier space. In particular, existence of periodic/anti-periodic and decaying solutions is proved and the error terms are controlled in suitable norms. The use of multi-dimensional stationary coupled-mode systems is justified for analysis of bifurcations of periodic/anti-periodic solutions in a small multi-dimensional periodic potential.  相似文献

We consider perturbations of a second-order periodic operator on the line; the Schr?dinger operator with a periodic potential is a specific case of such an operator. The perturbation is realized by a potential depending on two small parameters, one of which describes the length of the potential support, and the inverse value of other corresponds to the value of the potential. We obtain sufficient conditions for the perturbing potential to have eigenvalues in the gaps of the continuous spectrum. We also construct their asymptotic expansions and present sufficient conditions for the eigenvalues of the perturbing potential to be absent.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the existence of periodic solutions for classical Hamiltonian systems without the Palais-Smale condition. We prove that the information of the potential function contained in a finite domain is sufficient for the existence of periodic solutions. 在应用边界元方法求解Helmholtz方程周期边值问题时,需要构造以周期Green函数或其偏导数为核函数的积分算子形式的解.由于Helmholtz方程的周期Green函数G~P是一个函数项级数,该级数的通项是Hankel函数,在数值求解中,需要对其进行截断,从而很有必要研究其截断误差.本文根据Hankel函数在变量趋于无穷大时的渐近展开式,并结合Abel不等式,证明了G~P及其一阶偏导和二阶混合偏导一致收敛,且其截断误差收敛阶均为O(1/p~(1/2)).最后,通过数值实验验证了理论证明的正确性.本文的证明方法也可被用于证明其它一些方程周期Green函数的收敛性问题.  相似文献

本文通过生物控制和化学控制提出了具有周期脉冲效应与害虫控制的捕食系统. 系统保护天敌避免灭绝,在一些条件下可以使害虫灭绝.就是说当脉冲周期小于某一临界值时,存在全局稳定害虫灭绝周期解.脉冲周期增大大于临界值时,平凡害虫灭绝周期解失去稳定性并产生正周期解,利用分支理论来研究正周期解的存在性.进而,利用李雅普诺夫函数和比较定理确定了持续生存的条件.  相似文献

We consider a one-dimensional Schrödinger operator with a periodic potential constructed as the sum of the shifts of a given complex-valued potential q that decreases at infinity. Mathematical justification of the tight-binding approximation method is presented. Let λ0 be an isolated eigenvalue of the Schrödinger operator with a potential q. Then, for the corresponding operator with a periodic potential, a continuous spectrum exists in the neighborhood of λ0. The asymptotic behavior of this part of the spectrum as the period increases infinitely is studied for the cases of one- and two-dimensional invariant subspaces corresponding to λ0.  相似文献

We provide a simple proof of the existence of dark solitons of the defocusing cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic inhomogeneous nonlinearity. Moreover, our proof allows for a broader class of inhomogeneities and gives some new properties of the solutions. We consider wave propagation and scattering governed by 1-D Schrödinger operators with truncated periodic potentials. The propagation of wave packets with narrow frequency supports is studied. The goal is to describe potentials for which the group velocity (for a periodic problem) is small and the transmission coefficient for the truncated potential is not too small, i.e. to find media where a slowing down of the wave packets coexists with a transparency.  相似文献

We study the semiclassical asymptotic approximation of the spectrum of the two-dimensional Schrödinger operator with a potential periodic in x and increasing at infinity in y. We show that the lower part of the spectrum has a band structure (where bands can overlap) and calculate their widths and dispersion relations between energy and quasimomenta. The key role in the obtained asymptotic approximation is played by librations, i.e., unstable periodic trajectories of the Hamiltonian system with an inverted potential. We also present an effective numerical algorithm for computing the widths of bands and discuss applications to quantum dimers.  相似文献

We deal with two-dimensional compressible potential subsonic flows in an infinitely long duct with periodic walls. It is shown that there exists a critical value of mass flux: If the incoming mass flux is less than the critical value, then the flow is also periodic.
