The phenomenon of the broadband transmission enhancement of acoustic waves is important for its prospective applications in various devices. To achieve broadband transmission enhancement of acoustic waves, we investigate the acoustic transmission in a metallic grating device with linearly tapered slits through eigen-mode matching theory (EMMT) and finite element (FE) simulation. The tapering provides a gradual filling fraction variation from the entrance to the exit of the slits, destroying the Fabry–Perot resonance and thus leading to broadband and wide-angle enhanced transmission in the audible regime. In addition, acoustic waves are strongly localized and enhanced at the slit exits, in contrast with straight slits.  相似文献

The surface acoustic wave velocity in InN has been experimentally determined by means of Brillouin scattering experiments on c ‐ and m ‐face epilayers. From simulations based on the Green's function formalism we determine the shear elastic constants c66 and c44 and propose a complete set of elastic constants for wurtzite InN. The analysis of the sagittal and azimuthal dependence of the surface acoustic wave velocity indicates a slightly different elastic behavior of the m ‐face sample that basically affects the c44 elastic constant. Currently, complicated structure, incident-angle selectivity, and narrow frequency band are the key drawbacks of the asymmetric acoustic transmission (AAT) devices. Here we tackle these problems by proposing a class of single-layer lossy acoustic metasurfaces. The broadband AAT performance is realized in a broad range of incident angles. When the incident angle is in the range between two critical values, which are derived in this paper, an external sound wave can be converted into an evanescent mode, and the total internal reflection occurs for backward sound. The incident sound wave can be negatively refracted for forward sound if the evanescent mode conversion condition is broken, representing the realization of the AAT. However, the AAT phenomenon cannot be observed outside of the range defined above. The proposed design of highly efficient broad-angle AAT can find applications in sound sensing and noise control.  相似文献

Extraordinary acoustic transmission (EAT) has been investigated in a tunable bull's eye structure. We demonstrate that the transmission coefficient of acoustic waves can be modulated by a grating structure. When the grating is located at a distance of 0.5 mm from the base plate, the acoustic transmission shows an 8.77-fold enhancement compared to that by using a traditional bull's eye structure. When the distance increases to 1.5 mm, the transmission approaches zero, indicating a total reflection. Thus, we can make an efficient modulation of acoustic transmission from 0 to 877%. The EAT effects have been ascribed to the coupling of structure-induced resonance with the diffractive wave and the waveguide modes, as well as the Fabry-Perot resonances. As a potential application, the modulation of far-field collimation is illustrated in the proposed bull's eye structure.  相似文献

It is generally known that surface acoustic waves, or Rayleigh waves, have different mode shapes in infinite plates. To be precise, there are both exponentially decaying and growing components in plates appearing in pairs, representing symmetric and antisymmentric modes in a plate. As the plate thickness increases, the combined modes will approach the Rayleigh mode in a semi-infinite solid, exhibiting surface acoustic wave deformation and velocity. In this study, the two-dimensional theory for surface acoustic waves in finite plates is extended to include the exponentially growing modes in the expansion function. With these extra equations, we study the surface acoustic waves in a plate with different thickness to examine the coupling of the exponentially decaying and growing modes. It is found that for small thickness, the two groups of waves are strongly coupled, showing the significance of including the effect of thickness in analysis. As the thickness increases to certain values, such as more than five wavelengths, the exponentially decaying modes alone will be able to predict vibrations of surface acoustic wave modes accurately, thus simplifying the equations and solutions significantly. We investigate the transmission properties of a normally incident TM plane wave through metal films with periodic parabolic-shaped grooves on single and double surfaces using the finite-difference-time-domain method. Nearly zero transmission efficiency is found at wavelengths corresponding to surface plasmon excitation on a flat surface in the case where the single surface is grooved. Meanwhile, resonant excitation of surface plasmon polariton (SPP) Bloch modes leads to a strong transmission peak at slightly larger wavelengths. When the grating is grooved on double surfaces, the transmission enhancement can be dramatically improved due to the resonant tunnelling between SPP Bloch modes.  相似文献

Based on the Boit theory of acoustic wave propagation in fluid-satu-rated porous medium we have studied in this paper the acoustic reflection andtransmission on multilayered porous media,in which the adequate boundaryconditions across the interfaces are taken into account.Numerical calculationsof the reflection and transmission coefficients at different incident angles andfrequencies of the fast compressional wave incident on porous media with threeor four layers are presented.The results indicate that the maximum or mini-mum reflection and transmission coefficients appear at certain ratios of thewavelength to the thickness.The acoustic incident angle and porous mediumproperties are shown to affect significantly these coefficients.As an example,the measured transmission coefficients in a water-saturated fused glass beadsample are in good agreement with theoretical prediction.  相似文献

本文研究一维周期性层状结构中材料弹性模量时变因素作用下的声透射临界现象, 探究了这种声学脉冲序列及全透声现象的内在机理. 考虑弹性模量时变因素的影响, 通过求解波动方程, 运用分离变量法解得特征指数, 进而得到临界现象. 当调制幅值低于或等于临界值时, 周期性结构能够将入射波转化为一系列周期的毫秒级的反射脉冲序列; 尤其在调制幅值等于临界值时, 当周期性结构的层数达到16层时, 反射脉冲序列有完整的0和1 的波形; 当大于临界值时, 反射系数在50 ms内迅速衰减至0, 此时的结构相当于完全透声, 入射波可以无损地完全透过, 产生调制透声现象. 这些特殊的现象可为声波的动态控制、声脉冲序列的产生和声波的定向传播提供重要的理论依据, 在超声换能器及调制透声方面具有实际的工程应用前景.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the possibility to control the optical transmission in the visible and infrared regions by a defective one dimensional photonic crystal formed by a combination of a finite isotropic superlattice and an anisotropic defect layer. The Green's function approach has been used to derive the reflection and the transmission coefficients, as well as the densities of states of the optical modes. We evaluate the delay times of the localized modes and we compare their behavior with the total densities of states. We show that the birefringence of an anisotropic defect layer has a significant impact on the behavior of the optical modes in the electromagnetic forbidden bands of the structure. The amplitudes of the defect modes in the transmission and the delay time spectrum, depend strongly on the position of the cavity layer within the photonic crystal. The anisotropic defect layer induces transmission zeros in one of the two components of the transmission as a consequence of a destructive interference of the two polarized waves within this layer, giving rise to negative delay times for some wavelengths in the visible and infrared light ranges. This property is a typical characteristic of the anisotropic photonic layer and is without analogue in their counterpart isotropic defect layers. This structure offers several possibilities for controlling the frequencies, transmitted intensities and the delay times of the optical modes in the visible and infrared regions. It can be a good candidate for realizing high-precision optical filters.  相似文献

A laser technique for generating convergent acoustic waves is described. The optically probed Rayleigh wave in the centre of convergence shows an amplification factor of the order of 20 with respect to a collimated surface wave. Scattering of obliquely incident plane acoustic waves from immersed infinite solid elastic cylinders is a complex phenomenon that involves generation of various types of surface waves on the body of the cylinder. Mitri [F.G. Mitri, Acoustic backscattering enhancement resulting from the interaction of an obliquely incident plane wave with an infinite cylinder, Ultrasonics 50 (2010) 675-682] recently showed that for a solid aluminum cylinder, there exist acoustic backscattering enhancements at a normalized frequency of ka?0.1. The incidence angle αc at which these enhancements are observed lies between the first (longitudinal) and second (shear) coupling angles of the cylinder. He also confirmed the observations previously reported by the authors that there exist backscattering enhancements of the dipole mode at large angles of incidence where no wave penetration into the cylinder is expected. In this paper, physical explanations are provided for the aforementioned observations by establishing a correlation between helical surface waves generated by oblique insonification of an immersed infinite solid elastic cylinder and the longitudinal and flexural guided modes that can propagate along the cylinder. In particular, it is shown that the backscattering enhancement observed at ka?0.1 is due to the excitation of the first longitudinal guided mode travelling at the bar velocity along the cylinder. It is also demonstrated that the dipole resonance mode observed at incidence angles larger than the Rayleigh coupling angle is associated with the first flexural guided mode of the cylinder. The correlation established between the scattering and propagation problems can be used in both numerical and experimental studies of interaction of mechanical waves with cylinders.  相似文献

The controls of the pass-bands in an asymmetric acoustic transmission system are investigated numerically and experimentally, and the system consists of a periodical rectangular grating and two uniform brass plates in water. We reveal that the pass-band of the asymmetric acoustic transmission is closely related to the grating period, but is affected slightly by the brass plate thickness. Moreover, the transmittance can be improved by adjusting the grating period and other structural parameters simultaneously. The control method of the system has the advantages of wider frequency range and simple operation, which has great potential applications in ultrasonic devices.  相似文献

为了研究直达表面波在圆弧过渡面处传播性能的变化,采用有限元方法模拟了热弹机制下,线性脉冲激光辐照金属铝块表面时激发的表面波在近表面传播过程中,在不同曲率半径的圆弧处发生的反射及透射现象,建立了圆弧半径与反射表面波以及透射表面波时域信号特征之间的联系。计算结果表明:曲率半径与表面波中心波长的数值关系对表面波在圆弧处的传播有显著的影响;同时证明了根据透射表面波信号的到达时间可以反演圆弧半径的大小,为之后利用表面波信号定量检测材料表面圆弧凹痕的深度提供了理论依据。  相似文献

The Fiorito, Madigosky and Überall approximate representation [1] of the acoustic transmission coefficient of an infinite, isotropic, elastic plate by resonances associated with Lamb modes is examined and clarification of its properties is obtained. Some theoretical extension is provided which validates coherent addition of these overlapping resonances. Minor limitations shown are that the theory is inapplicable near grazing incidence and that it gives only a partial solution at incidence beyond the second critical angle when the frequency thickness product is the variable. Existing overlapping resonances theory is shown not to yield a unique relationship between the incident wave and a set of physical motions within the plate, and an approach to overcome this non-uniqueness is suggested. An equivalence is demonstrated between the 3 dB resonance half-width of each Lamb mode and the imaginary part of the modal wavenumber per unit wavenumber of the fluid, and this facilitates the numerical checking of the theory which is carried out in a companion paper [2] and yields convincing proof of the applicability of the approach.  相似文献

We report on terahertz electromagnetic field transmission through metallic slot antennas supported on various dielectric substrates. The substrate effect strongly modifies the transmission resonance compared to the free-standing case, while the resonance can be determined systematically by introducing an effective refractive index. The relative contribution of the substrate index to the effective index has been measured for various substrates, and shows a good agreement with theoretical calculations based on a coupled mode method. In addition, the slot antenna arrays embedded in a flexible substrate show a transmission resonance governed by a substrate refractive index.  相似文献

In this paper, by a semi-analytical method, the propagation characteristics of shear horizontal surface acoustic waves in semi-infinite superlattices containing viscous materials are investigated. In a companion paper [1] the Fiorito, Madigosky and Überall approximate theory of transmittivity of an infinite, isotropic, elastic plate in terms of Lamb mode resonances [2] is examined, and extended by validating coherent addition of these overlapping resonances. The present paper provides numerical and heuristic tests which yield convincing proof of the applicability of the overlapping resonances concept. At various thicknesses of a water-immersed, steel plate, including the half-space and zero thickness limits, the behaviour is shown to be compatible with known exact behaviour. Overlapping resonances explain the reduction towards zero of the transmittivity near the coincidence angles of the zero order Lamb modes as these converge to the Rayleigh angle. Contrary to earlier interpretations, both zero order modes survive at the half-space limit. The A0 mode is shown to contribute below (fd)critical, becoming then highly damped and, effectively, non-propagating. The interpretation provided of the transition of the A0 mode in this region bridges the gap between conventional Lamb mode theory and thin plate theory.  相似文献
