Subdivision schemes are iterative procedures for constructing curves and constitute fundamental tools in computer aided design. Starting with an initial control polygon, a subdivision scheme refines the values computed in the previous step according to some basic rules. The scheme is said to be convergent if there exists a limit curve. The computed values define a control polygon in each step. This paper is devoted to estimating error bounds between the limit curve and the control polygon defined after k subdivision stages. In particular, a stop criterion of convergence is obtained. The refinement rules considered in the paper are widely used in practice and are associated with the well known two-scale refinement equation including as particular examples the schemes based on Daubechies’ filters. Our results generalize the previous analysis presented by Mustafa et al. in [G. Mustafa, F. Chen, J. Deng, Estimating error bounds for binary subdivision curves/surfaces, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 193 (2006) 596-613] and [G. Mustafa and M.S. Hashmi Subdivision depth computation for n-ary subdivision curves/surfaces, Vis. Comput. 26 (6-8) (2010) 841-851].  相似文献

The objective of this article is to introduce a generalized algorithm to produce the m-point n-ary approximating subdivision schemes(for any integer m, n ≥ 2). The proposed algorithm has been derived from uniform B-spline blending functions. In particular, we study statistical and geometrical/traditional methods for the model selection and assessment for selecting a subdivision curve from the proposed family of schemes to model noisy and noisy free data. Moreover, we also discuss the deviation of subdivision curves generated by proposed family of schemes from convex polygonal curve. Furthermore, visual performances of the schemes have been presented to compare numerically the Gibbs oscillations with the existing family of schemes.  相似文献

Binary 3-point scheme, developed by Hormann and Sabin [Hormann, K. and Sabin, Malcolm A., 2008, A family of subdivision schemes with cubic precision, Computer Aided Geometric Design, 25, 41-52], has been modified by introducing a tension parameter which generates a family of C1 limiting curves for certain range of tension parameter. Ternary 3-point scheme, introduced by Siddiqi and Rehan [Siddiqi, Shahid S. and Rehan, K., 2009, A ternary three point scheme for curve designing, International Journal of Computer Mathematics, In Press, DOI: 10.1080/00207160802428220], has also been modified by introducing a tension parameter which generates family of C1 and C2 limiting curves for certain range of tension parameter. Laurent polynomial method is used to investigate the continuity of the subdivision schemes. The performance of modified schemes has been demonstrated by considering different examples along with its comparison with the established subdivision schemes.  相似文献

Families of parameter dependent univariate and bivariate subdivision schemes are presented in this paper. These families are new variants of the Lane-Riesenfeld algorithm. So the subdivision algorithms consist of both refining and smoothing steps. In refining step, we use the quartic B-spline based subdivision schemes. In smoothing step, we average the adjacent points. The bivariate schemes are the non-tensor product version of our univariate schemes. Moreover, for odd and even number of smoothing steps, we get the primal and dual schemes respectively. Higher regularity of the schemes can be achieved by increasing the number of smoothing steps. These schemes can be nicely generalized to contain local shape parameters that allow the user to adjust locally the shape of the limit curve/surface.  相似文献

This paper presents a new method for exact evaluation of a limit surface generated by stationary interpolatory subdivision schemes and its associated tangent vectors at arbitrary rational points. The algorithm is designed on the basis of the parametric m-ary expansion and construction of the associated matrix sequence. The evaluation stencil of the control points on the initial mesh is obtained, through computation, by multiplying the finite matrices in a sequence corresponding to the expansion sequence and eigendecomposition of the contractive matrix related to the period of rational numbers. The method proposed in this paper works for other non-polynomial subdivision schemes as well.  相似文献

This paper provides a large family of interpolatory stationary subdivision schemes based on radial basis functions (RBFs) which are positive definite or conditionally positive definite. A radial basis function considered in this study has a tension parameter λ>0 such that it provides design flexibility. We prove that for a sufficiently large , the proposed 2L-point (LN) scheme has the same smoothness as the well-known 2L-point Deslauriers-Dubuc scheme, which is based on 2L-1 degree polynomial interpolation. Some numerical examples are presented to illustrate the performance of the new schemes, adapting subdivision rules on bounded intervals in a way of keeping the same smoothness and accuracy of the pre-existing schemes on R. We observe that, with proper tension parameters, the new scheme can alleviate undesirable artifacts near boundaries, which usually appear to interpolatory schemes with irregularly distributed control points.  相似文献

We introduce a family of three-point subdivision schemes related to palindromic pairs of matrices of order 2. We apply the Mößner theorem on palindromic matrices to the C 0 convergence of these subdivision schemes. We study the Hölder regularity of their limit functions. The Hölder exponent which is found in the regular case is sharp for most limit functions. In the singular case, the modulus of continuity of the limit functions is of order δlogδ. These results can be used for studying the C 1 convergence of the Merrien family of Hermite subdivision schemes.  相似文献

Knowing that the convergence of a multivariate subdivision scheme with a nonnegative mask can be characterized by whether or not some finite products of row-stochastic matrices induced by this mask have a positive column. However, the number of those products is exponential with respect to the size of matrices. For nonnegative univariate subdivision, this problem is completely solved. Thus, the convergence in this case can be checked in linear time with respect to the size of a square matrix. This paper will demonstrate the necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of some nonnegative bivariate subdivision schemes by means of the so-called connectivity of a square matrix, which is derived by a given mask. Moreover, the connectivity can be examined in linear time with respect to the size of this matrix.  相似文献

In the recent literature on subdivision methods for approximation of manifold-valued data, a certain “proximity condition” comparing a nonlinear subdivision scheme to a linear subdivision scheme has proved to be a key analytic tool for analyzing regularity properties of the scheme. This proximity condition is now well known to be a sufficient condition for the nonlinear scheme to inherit the regularity of the corresponding linear scheme (this is called smoothness equivalence). Necessity, however, has remained an open problem. This paper introduces a smooth compatibility condition together with a new proximity condition (the differential proximity condition). The smooth compatibility condition makes precise the relation between nonlinear and linear subdivision schemes. It is shown that under the smooth compatibility condition, the differential proximity condition is both necessary and sufficient for smoothness equivalence. It is shown that the failure of the proximity condition corresponds to the presence of resonance terms in a certain discrete dynamical system derived from the nonlinear scheme. Such resonance terms are then shown to slow down the convergence rate relative to the convergence rate of the corresponding linear scheme. Finally, a super-convergence property of nonlinear subdivision schemes is used to conclude that the slowed decay causes a breakdown of smoothness. The proof of sufficiency relies on certain properties of the Taylor expansion of nonlinear subdivision schemes, which, in addition, explain why the differential proximity condition implies the proximity conditions that appear in previous work.  相似文献

The present paper deals with subdivision schemes associated with irregular grids. We first give a sufficient condition concerning the difference scheme to obtain convergence. This condition generalizes a necessary and sufficient condition for convergence known in the case of uniform and stationary schemes associated with a regular grid. Through this sufficient condition, convergence of a given subdivision scheme can be proved by comparison with another scheme. Indeed, when two schemes are equivalent in some sense, and when one satisfies the sufficient condition for convergence, the other also satisfies it and it therefore converges too. We also study the smoothness of the limit functions produced by a scheme which satisfies the sufficient condition. Finally, the results are applied to the study of Lagrange interpolating subdivision schemes of any degree, with respect to particular irregular grids.  相似文献

In this paper we develop a novel approach to construct non-stationary subdivision schemes with a tension control parameter which can reproduce functions in a finite-dimensional subspace of exponential polynomials. The construction process is mainly implemented by solving linear systems for primal and dual subdivision schemes respectively, which are based on different parameterizations. We give the theoretical basis for the existence, uniqueness, and refinement rules of schemes proposed in this paper. The convergence and smoothness of the schemes are analyzed as well. Moreover, conics reproducing schemes are analyzed based on our theory, and a new idea that the tensor parameter ωk of the schemes can be adjusted for conics generation is proposed.  相似文献

We propose a new adaption of linear Hermite subdivision schemes to the manifold setting. Our construction is intrinsic, as it is based solely on geodesics and on the parallel transport operator of the manifold. The resulting nonlinear Hermite subdivision schemes are analyzed with respect to convergence and C 1 smoothness. Similar to previous work on manifold-valued subdivision, this analysis is carried out by proving that a so-called proximity condition is fulfilled. This condition allows to conclude convergence and smoothness properties of the manifold-valued scheme from its linear counterpart, provided that the input data are dense enough. Therefore the main part of this paper is concerned with showing that our nonlinear Hermite scheme is “close enough”, i.e., in proximity, to the linear scheme it is derived from.  相似文献

In this work we construct subdivision schemes refining general subsets of ? n and study their applications to the approximation of set-valued functions. Differently from previous works on set-valued approximation, our methods are developed and analyzed in the metric space of Lebesgue measurable sets endowed with the symmetric difference metric. The construction of the set-valued subdivision schemes is based on a new weighted average of two sets, which is defined for positive weights (corresponding to interpolation) and also when one weight is negative (corresponding to extrapolation). Using the new average with positive weights, we adapt to sets spline subdivision schemes computed by the Lane–Riesenfeld algorithm, which requires only averages of pairs of numbers. The averages of numbers are then replaced by the new averages of pairs of sets. Among other features of the resulting set-valued subdivision schemes, we prove their monotonicity preservation property. Using the new weighted average of sets with both positive and negative weights, we adapt to sets the 4-point interpolatory subdivision scheme. Finally, we discuss the extension of the results obtained in metric spaces of sets, to general metric spaces endowed with an averaging operation satisfying certain properties.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a family of nonstationary, interpolatory subdivision schemes that have the capability of reproducing functions in a finite-dimensional subspace of exponential polynomials. We give conditions for the existence and uniqueness of such schemes, and analyze their convergence and smoothness. It is shown that the refinement rules of an even-order exponentials reproducing scheme converge to the Dubuc—Deslauriers interpolatory scheme of the same order, and that both schemes have the same smoothness. Unlike the stationary case, the application of a nonstationary scheme requires the computation of a different rule for each refinement level. We show that the rules of an exponentials reproducing scheme can be efficiently derived by means of an auxiliary orthogonal scheme , using only linear operations. The orthogonal schemes are also very useful tools in fitting an appropriate space of exponential polynomials to a given data sequence.  相似文献

We consider the question of which zero-dimensional schemes deform to a collection of distinct points; equivalently, we ask which Artinian k-algebras deform to a product of fields. We introduce a syzygetic invariant which sheds light on this question for zero-dimensional schemes of regularity two. This invariant imposes obstructions for smoothability in general, and it completely answers the question of smoothability for certain zero-dimensional schemes of low degree. The tools of this paper also lead to other results about Hilbert schemes of points, including a characterization of nonsmoothable zero-dimensional schemes of minimal degree in every embedding dimension d?4.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the refinement equations of the form ψ(x) = ∑α∈Zs a(α)ψ(Mx - α), x ∈ Rs,where the vector of functions ψ=(ψ1,…,ψr)T is in (Lp(Rs))r, 1≤p≤∞,a(α),α∈Zs,is a finitely supported sequence of r × r matrices called the refinement mask, and M is an s × s integer matrix suchthat lim n→∞ M-n = 0. In order to solve the refinement equation mentioned above, we start with a vectorof compactly supported functions ψ0 ∈ (Lp(Rs))r and use the iteration schemes fn := Qnaψ0,n = 1,2,…,where Qa is the linear operator defined on (Lp(Rs))r given by Qaψ:= ∑α∈Zs a(α)ψ(M·- α),ψ∈ (Lp(Rs))r. This iteration scheme is called a subdivision scheme or cascade algorithm. In this paper, we characterize the Lp-convergence of subdivision schemes in terms of the p-norm joint spectral radius of a finite collection of somelinear operators determined by the sequence a and the set B restricted to a certain invariant subspace, wherethe set B is a complete set of representatives of the distinct cosets of the quotient group Zs/MZs containing 0.  相似文献
