Trichloroisocyanuric Acid,as an Industrial Chemical,Promotes Transthioacetalization of Diacetals of 2,2-Bis (Hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol and Cleavage of Thioacetals

Trichloroisocyanuric acid has been used as a mild, efficient, and new catalyst for transthioacetalization of diacetals of 2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol in CH 2 Cl 2 at room temperature. A clean, easy, and general method for efficient deprotection of thioacetals to their corresponding carbonyl compounds using trichloroisocyanuric acid/silica gel and water system also is described.     

Silica Chloride (SiO2-Cl) and Trimethylsilyl Chloride (TMSCl) Promote Facile and Efficient Dehydration of Tertiary Alcohols

Abstract

Silica chloride (SiO₂-Cl), as a heterogeneous reagent, has been used for the efficient dehydration of tertiary alcohols under mild reaction conditions. For comparison, we have also used trimethylsilyl chloride (TMSCl) as a homogeneous reagent for this purpose. We have found that silica chloride is a more efficient reagnet than trimethylsilyl chloride for this purpose. Handling of SiO₂-Cl is much safer and easier than TMSCl, especially for large-scale operation. The selectivity of the method is also demonstrated by several competitive reactions. Ether formation, rearranged products, and polymerization have not been observed in the reactions.     

Solid State Regeneration of Carbonyl Compounds from Oximes and Semicarbazones with Poly [N‐Bromo‐Benzene‐1,3‐Disulfonylamide]

Poly [N‐bromo‐benzene‐1,3‐disulfonylamide] [ PBBS ] is a novel and efficient reagent for the conversion of oximes and semicarbazones under solid state to their corresponding carbonyl compounds in high yields.
