A thorough analysis of the surface chemistry of silica nanowires has been performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to investigate unexpected surface changes. Examination of the Si 2p, O 1s, and C 1s core level states before and after exposure of the nanowires to various liquid media showed that silica nanowires are capable of much higher surface hydroxyl concentrations than planar native oxides. It is further demonstrated that the nanowire surface hydroxyl concentration corresponds to the pH of the aqueous media to which the nanowires are exposed. Spectral feature changes due to water exposure similar to those observed for fibronectin binding suggests that fibronectin binding is competitively inhibited by slow changes in surface chemistry resulting from water exposure.  相似文献

The time-resolved luminescence spectra in energy region of 2.0-6.0 v eV, as well as the excitation spectra (4-35 v eV), reflectivity and the decay kinetics were studied at T =10 v K and 295 v K using selective vacuum ultraviolet excitation in nominally pure crystals as well as crystals with intrinsic defects and radiation defects induced by fast electrons.  相似文献

Power ultrasound may be used in the processing of minerals to clean their surfaces of oxidation products and fine coatings, mainly through the large, but very localised, forces produced by cavitation. Results of the application of power ultrasound to remove iron-rich coatings from the surfaces of silica sand used in glass making and to improve the electrostatic separation of mineral sand concentrates through lowering the resistivity of the conducting minerals (ilmenite and rutile) are presented. Parameters affecting ultrasonic cleaning, such as input power and levels of reagent addition, are discussed. In particular, we present data showing the relationship between power input and the particle size of surface coatings removed. This can be explained by the Derjaguin approximation for the energy of interaction between a sphere and a flat surface.  相似文献

Photochemical inhomogeneity in the reduction process of the optical activity related to Ge oxygen deficient point defects in silica, characterized by an absorption band centered at 5.15 v eV and two emission bands centered at 3.2 v eV and 4.3 v eV, have been investigated. We have made a comparative study of the stationary and time dependent photoluminescence under excitation in the UV (5 v eV) and in the vacuum-UV (7.4 v eV) ranges in natural silica samples with native and with n -irradiation bleached optical activity. Our measurements evidence that the same spectral features are observed in the native and in the irradiated samples, but for an intensity reduction in the irradiated ones. Moreover, the time decay of the photoluminescence at 4.3 v eV is the same independently from the irradiation of the sample. On the basis of these results it is suggested that the inhomogeneous distribution of defects is not changed by the irradiation.  相似文献

EPR spectra of LiBaF 3 crystals have been investigated after X-irradiation at RT. A spectrum consisting of approximately 35 nearly equidistant EPR lines has a strong angular dependence on the line intensities. The spectrum is caused by a hyperfine interaction (hfs) of a spin S =1/2 with neighbouring groups of nuclei. The observed large number of hfs lines required Li nuclei being in the first shell and fluorine nuclei in the more distant second shell. We analysed the spectrum in the F -centre model, taking reduced hfs values of the F -centre in LiF and found qualitative explanation of the number of hfs lines. The angular dependence of the line intensities could be explained by an anisotropy of the g -tensor with its main axis along the [1 v 0 v 0] axis of the crystal.  相似文献

The atomic structure of a well-ordered silica film grown on a Mo(1 1 2) single crystal substrate is discussed in detail using the experimental and theoretical results available to date. New photoelectron spectroscopy results using synchrotron radiation and ultraviolet spectroscopy data are presented. The analysis unambiguously shows that the ultra-thin silica film consists of a two-dimensional network of corner-sharing [SiO4] tetrahedra chemisorbed on the unreconstructed Mo(1 1 2) surface. The review also highlights the important role of theoretical calculations in the determination of the atomic structure of the silica films and in interpretation of experimental data.  相似文献

The structure of a monolayer crystalline silica film grown on a Mo(1 1 2) substrate is investigated via grazing scattering of fast atoms. For scattering along low indexed directions in the surface plane (“axial surface channeling”) the corrugation of the interaction potential leads to an azimuthal out-of plane scattering with an intensity enhancement for the maximum deflection angle, the so called “rainbow”. From the comparison of the experimental angular distributions for scattered projectiles with classical trajectory simulations we obtain information on the arrangement of atoms in the topmost surface layer. Our work provides evidence for the structural model of a two-dimensional network for the silica film.  相似文献

We present the direct evidence of defective and disorder places on the surface of multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT), visualizing the presence of amorphous carbon at those sites. These defective surfaces being higher in energy are the key features of functionalization with different materials. The interaction of the π orbital electrons of different carbon atoms of adjacent layers is more at the bent portion, than that of regular portion of the CNT. Hence the tubular structure of the bent portion of nanotubes is spaced more than that of regular portion of the nanotubes, minimizing the stress.  相似文献

There are a wide variety of silica nanoformulations being investigated for biomedical applications. Silica nanoparticles can be produced using a wide variety of synthetic techniques with precise control over their physical and chemical characteristics. Inorganic nanoformulations are often criticized or neglected for their poor tolerance; however, extensive studies into silica nanoparticle biodistributions and toxicology have shown that silica nanoparticles may be well tolerated, and in some case are excreted or are biodegradable. Robust synthetic techniques have allowed silica nanoparticles to be developed for applications such as biomedical imaging contrast agents, ablative therapy sensitizers, and drug delivery vehicles. This review explores the synthetic techniques used to create and modify an assortment of silica nanoformulations, as well as several of the diagnostic and therapeutic applications.  相似文献

We study the specific impact of defects such as step edges at the graphite surface on the electronic configuration of adsorbed Pt atoms and Pt8 clusters. Surface diffusion is strongly reduced by depositing Pt and Pt8 into a thin rare gas layer. In this configuration a very narrow adatom Pt 4f spectrum is found at an exceptionally small binding energy, similar to Pt surfaces. Both, adatom and cluster spectra are strongly shifted towards higher binding energy when allowed to diffuse towards defects like step edges. The strong shifts are indicative of a chemical reaction at the step edges and are conjectured to be part of the particle size dependent binding energy shifts typically observed for transition metal clusters grown on the surface of graphite.  相似文献

We report the dependence of the vortex penetration on the number and positions of surface defects in mesoscopic superconducting squares. The vortex penetration is detected by the change in the transport properties of small tunnel junctions attached to the sample (small-tunnel-junction method). We find that for vorticities = 0 and 1, a defect at the center of a side facilitate the vortex penetration, while a defect at a corner does not affect the vortex penetration field. For higher vorticities, the influence of defects becomes complicated, indicating that not only the existence of surface defects but also the vortex arrangement influences the vortex penetration. Simple explanation for this mesoscopic vortex penetration effect is given.  相似文献

This study fabricated the large area and optically transparent superhydrophobic silica based films on glass surface with optimized hardness. A silane coupling agent, tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), effectively bonds silica particles onto the glass substrate. Desired surface roughness was obtained by adjusting nano silica particles concentration of the precursors prepared by the sol-gel process. Silica suspension was coated onto the glass substrate by the air brushing methods. This method can deposit a uniform, transparent coating on the glass substrate efficiently. Diluting the precursor by adding ethanol or a mixture of D.I. water and ethanol further improved the transmittance and superhydrophobicity efficiency. The results showed that as the silica particle concentration and the thickness of the coating were increased, the surface roughness was enhanced. Rougher surface displayed a higher superhydrophobicity and lower transmittance. Therefore, the concentration of silica particle, volume of coatings, and the ratio of ethanol and D.I. water are of great importance to deposit a transparent, superhydrophobic coating on glass.  相似文献

The investigation reports preparation of two new adsorbent materials, SiPOLHET and SiPOLHOM, by attachment of linear poly(amido amine) (PAA) to silica surface by adopting heterogeneous and homogeneous modification procedures, respectively. Their structures were characterized by FTIR, 13C and 29Si NMR spectroscopy. Surface morphologies and corresponding elemental composition were determined by using SEM and EDS techniques. The metal binding characteristics of the adsorbents towards Cu2+ and Ni2+ were studied in dilute aqueous solution which presents an interesting aspect of increasing trend.  相似文献

 介绍了平台式和斜坡式两种结构的表面放电辐射源,研究了在1.0 μF和1.5 μF储能电容、15~30 kV充电电压等实验条件下两种辐射源的放电特性,并对实验结果进行了比较分析。得到如下结论:对于斜坡式辐射源,增加电极间距可导致放电回路面积增大,因此等效电阻和等效电感也将增加;在相同电压及电容值条件下,斜坡式辐射源的放电电流、平均沉积功率均小于平台式辐射源的相应值,但放电沉积效率略大;电压升高使放电周期、电流达到峰值时间及放电沉积效率呈减小趋势,对于同一种辐射源,使用1.5 μF电容时放电回路参数更加匹配,放电沉积效率得到提高。  相似文献

In this paper, we report the synthesis of silica coated ZnO nanoparticles by ultrasound irradiation of a mixture of dispersion of ZnO, tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), and ammonia in an ethanol-water solution medium. The silica coating layer formed at the initial TEOS/ZnO loading of 0.8 for 60 min ultrasonic irradiation was uniform and extended up to 3 nm from the ZnO surface as revealed from HR-TEM images. Silica coated ZnO nanoparticles demonstrated a significant inhibition of photocatalytic activity against photodegradation of methylene blue dye in aqueous solution. The effects of silica coating on the UV blocking property of ZnO nanoparticles were also studied.  相似文献

The effect of multi-step deposition process on the crystalline quality and surface smoothness of ZnO film was investigated. ZnO films were composed of multi-layers, in which each layer was deposited at different temperatures. The maximum intensity and the smallest FWHM of (0 0 2) diffraction peak in XRD spectrum were observed for the multi-layered ZnO film of which each layer was deposited at progressively higher temperatures. In addition, the smoothest film surface was also observed for the ZnO film deposited through multi-step process in which deposition temperatures gradually increase. On the other hand, the large difference between the deposition temperatures in multi-step process did not result in the significant improvement of the crystalline quality of ZnO film. The ZnO film prepared by using multi-step process had high transmittance over 70% in visible region and the optical band gap of 3.22 eV.  相似文献

Two series of pyrocarbon/silica gel (CS) samples were prepared using pyrolysis of different amounts of glucose adsorbed onto silica gel under dynamic conditions in a rotary reactor and a high-pressure autoclave. The structural characteristics and the morphology of the CS samples studied by means of the AFM, TG, nitrogen and p-nitrophenol (PNP) adsorption and quantum chemical methods depend not only on the amounts of pyrocarbon deposits but also on the synthesis methods, since the autoclave process gives a stronger effect of the pore wall hydrolysis by water formed on the carbonization of glucose. A displacement of the main peak of the pore size distribution of CS samples depends on pyrocarbon content. CS samples prepared in the autoclave possess larger microporosity and adsorb greater amounts of PNP in comparison with the samples synthesized in the rotary reactor.  相似文献

Ultrathin layers of cerium oxide have been deposited on a Rh(1 1 1) surface and their growth morphology, structure, and thermal stability have been investigated by LEED, STM, XPS, and valence band resonant photoemission. STM and LEED indicate that the ceria grows epitaxially in form of ordered CeO2 islands at elevated substrate temperature (250–300 °C), with (1 1 1) faces parallel and orientationally aligned to the main azimuthal directions of the substrate. The ultrathin ceria films contain significant amounts of reduced Ce3+ species, which appear to be located predominantly at the ceria–Rh interface. For thicker films (>6 equivalent monolayers) stoichiometric CeO2 is detected in XPS. Vacuum annealing produces morphologically well-defined hexagonal islands, accompanied by partial reduction and the formation of oxygen vacancies at the ceria surface. The thermal stability and the degree of reduction is a function of the oxide layer thickness, with thinner layers being thermally less stable. At temperatures >800 °C, the ceria decomposes and Ce–Rh alloy phases are identified.  相似文献

Layers prepared by pulsed TEA CO2 pulsed laser ablation (PLA) of SiO and SiO2 targets in helium were exposed to hydrogen and deuterium atmosphere up to several kPa. The deposited layers were investigated by FTIR, EPR and XP spectroscopy. Among various Si species silyl radical Si(·)H (Si(·)D) at 2166 (1568) cm−1—H(I) center—and silyl hydroperoxide SiOOH (SiOOD) at 3587 (2648) cm−1 were identified in FTIR spectra. Chemical pathways for production of these species are discussed. Experimental results are supported by quantum chemical calculations.  相似文献

The off-diagonal magnetoimpedance in field-annealed CoFeSiB amorphous ribbons was measured using a pick-up coil wound around the sample. One side of a ribbon was etched in hydrofluoric acid solution during various times in order to change the thickness of the surface crystalline layer appearing after annealing. The asymmetric two-peak field dependence of the off-diagonal impedance was observed for all samples. The evolution of the off-diagonal magnetoimpedance with the change in the ribbon thickness is analyzed.  相似文献
