Herbal teas are an important part of traditional medicine in Serbia. The objective of the present study was to determine the activity concentrations of 40K and 137Cs in herbal tea, using the gamma spectroscopy method. The samples were collected during the period 2011–2012 in three mountain regions in Western and Central Serbia. The activity concentrations of 40K and 137Cs were found to be in the range of 130–1160 and 0.7–124 Bq kg?1, respectively. The average annual effective dose equivalents from ingestion of 40K and 137Cs for an adult person consuming one cup of herbal tea daily were found to be 588.4–5250.2 nSv for 40K and 4.0–706.1 nSv for 137Cs. Our investigation showed that the herbal teas originating from Maljen, Zlatibor and Tara mountains are radiologically safe for human consumption.  相似文献

Activity concentrations of 134Cs and 137Cs were determined in mushrooms of the Boletus species B. aereus, B. reticulatus, B. appendiculatus, B. calopus, B. edulis, B. erythropus, B. fechtneri, B. pinophilus, B. pseudoregius, B. rhodopurpureus, B. rhodoxanthus collected in the Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 1993 and 1994 and in B. edulis collected in Pomerania in northern Poland in the period from 1995–2015. Boletus edulis from the Reggio Emilia showed presence of 137Cs at 330?±?220?Bq?kg?1 dry biomass in 1993 and at 370?±?180?Bq?kg?1 dry biomass in 1994. In B. edulis sampled in the Reggio Emilia in 1993 and 1994, the pre-Chernobyl 137Cs from global fallout amounted to 39–46?% of the total activity concentrations of isotope 137Cs. B. edulis from Pomerania contained 137Cs in caps at 270?±?15?Bq?kg?1 dry biomass in 1995, and in whole fruiting bodies it was found to be 470?±?9?Bq?kg?1 dry biomass in 2015. The activity concentrations of 137Cs determined in fruiting bodies of B. edulis from Pomerania fluctuated but persisted over the period from 1995 to 2015, while the maximum activity concentrations were well below the tolerance limit of 600?Bq?kg?1 fresh product.  相似文献

An extensive study was conducted to determine the activity concentrations of natural and artificial radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th, 40K, and 137Cs in soil samples of each governate of Jordan. A total of 370 samples have been measured using a high-purity germanium detector. The activity concentration for 226Ra, 232Th, 40K, and 137Cs has mean values of 42?±?3, 23?±?3, 309?±?21, and 3.7?±?0.9 Bq kg–1, respectively. The highest mean activity concentration for 226Ra was found to be 138?±?4 Bq kg–1 in the Alkarak governate. In the Ajloun and Jarash governates, the highest mean activity concentration was 35?±?3 Bq kg–1 for 232Th, and 14.2?±?1.9 Bq kg–1 for 137Cs, respectively. Geological influence on the activity concentrations was investigated using the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent samples. The ANOVA results indicate that there are strong significant differences between the activity concentrations of 232Th, 40K, and 137Cs based on geological formations the radionuclides occur. The main contribution to gamma dose rate was due to 226Ra activity concentration. Radium equivalent and external hazard index are associated with a mean value of 98 Bq kg–1, and 0.266, respectively.  相似文献

The Jos Plateau has been reported to have elevated levels of natural background radiation. A few earlier studies have measured the levels of natural radioactivity for specific locations in the area. Our interest is to investigate how geology of the study area influences the activity concentrations of natural radionuclides. Thus, the activity concentrations of terrestrial radionuclides in soil samples collected across the geological formations of the Jos Plateau were determined by gamma spectrometry technique. The mean activity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K were found to exceed their corresponding world reference values of 35, 40 and 400?Bq?kg?1, respectively. Data were compared using statistical methods, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post hoc tests. The results revealed in some instances significant influences of geological types on the activity concentrations in the area. The spatial distribution maps of activity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K were geostatistically interpolated by ordinary Kriging method using ArcGIS software.  相似文献

Twenty-two medicinal herb samples, each representing a distinct species, were collected from Turkish markets and measured by the gamma spectrometric method. The activity concentration of 226Ra in medicinal herbs was found in the range of minimum detectable activity (MDA) and 15.1?±?2.2?Bqkg?1. The activity concentration of 232Th ranged from MDA values to 3.5?±?0.8?Bqkg?1. The activity concentration of 40K varied between 50.0?±?16.8 and 1311.5?±?57.3?Bqkg?1. All 137Cs activity concentrations of medicinal herbs were found to have lower than MDA values. The bone surface dose, lower large intestine and colon doses were found to be 182.9, 18.8 and 18.7?µSvy?1, respectively. The highest committed effective dose originated from the annual ingestion of 1?kg medicinal herb was calculated notably low as 9.0?µSv. The cancer risk of ingestion of medicinal herbs was found to be small enough to be neglected. The selected Turkish medicinal herbs are considered safe for human consumption.  相似文献

About 21 years after the Chernobyl accident, 137Cs and 40K activity concentration measurements using gamma-ray spectroscopy and elemental analysis using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were performed in five different lichen species collected from the Giresun province of northeastern Turkey. Being a symbiosis of algae and fungi, lichens are mostly used for environmental measurements since the fungal partner is responsible for the uptake of necessary nutrients or harmful substances, such as heavy metals of radionuclides. The gamma activity results showed that 137Cs, an artificial radionuclide released from the Chernobyl power plant accident, is still eminent in the environment of the province. The mean activity concentrations of 137Cs and 40K ranged from 24 to 254 with the mean value of 102 Bq kg?1 and from 345 to 2103 with the mean value of 1143 Bq kg?1 in dry weight. The results of the elemental analyses showed potassium, calcium, titanium, iron, tin, and barium in different concentrations.  相似文献

This work deals with the mineralogical, geochemical and radiological characterisations of Selmo Formation in Batman neighbourhood. The upper Miocene–Pliocene Selmo Formation is common in the centre of Batman and composed of carbonated sandy claystones and silty–sandy stone lenses. The common whole minerals of the samples are quartz, feldspars, calcite and dolomite. The clay minerals are smectite, illite, chlorite and mixed-layer clay (chlorite–smectite). The geochemical mean values of the samples are 51.7% SiO2; 12.6% Al2O3; 6.2% Fe2O3; 3.6% MgO; 6.3% CaO; 1.1% Na2O; 1.7% K2O; 0.8% TiO2; 0.2% P2O5; 0.1% MnO; and 0.03% Cr2O3. In addition, baseline maps for the concentrations of each radionuclide, the radium equivalent activity and the outdoor gamma dose rate distributions have been plotted for the study area. The mean activity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th, 40K and 137Cs were determined to be 32, 24, 210 and 9 Bq kg?1, respectively. The assessments of the radiological hazard indices, such as radium equivalent activity, absorbed dose rate in air, annual effective dose equivalent, excess lifetime cancer risk, external hazard index and internal hazard index, were calculated and compared with the internationally accepted reference values. This study shows that the concentrations of radioactivities in the measured samples were within the recommended safety limits and did not pose to be any significant source of radiation hazard.  相似文献

Severe radiation damages with the following substitution of connective tissue are the effect of high doses in microvolumes of the thyroid. Calcium, strontium and uranium deposited into these sections was more as compared to a normal tissue of the thyroid. An estimation of the microdistribution of fissile radionuclides was carried out using the method of fragmental radiography. The analysis of tracks done visually using a microscope magnification of 300 revealed the local density of fission fragments up to 103 mm−2. The irradiation of the surrounded cells which contain the hidden genetic damages, initiated by radioiodine, does not exclude their possible promoter role in thyroid cancerogenesis.  相似文献

Activity concentrations of the naturally occurring radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th, 40K and anthropogenic 137Cs in sand samples collected from 20 renowned beaches on the Coast of Montenegro have been determined using an HPGe (high purity Ge spectrometer). The average activity concentrations were found to be 7.4, 5.2, 97.3 and 0.5 Bq kg?1, respectively. For all sand samples, the radium equivalent activity has been evaluated and found to be lower than the limit of 370 Bq kg?1. External and internal hazard indices were less than unity. The gonadal dose equivalent was estimated to be on average 75 μSv y?1, which is about four times lower than the global average for soil (0.3 mSv y?1). Calculated values of absorbed dose rates showed the range from 3.1 to 28 nGy h?1, which is below the world median of average values (57 nGy h?1). The effective dose rate in the range from 3.8 to 34.4 μSv y?1 was significantly below the recommended limit value for the public (1 mSv y?1). The highest dose rate was found for the Velika Plaza locality, which also showed heavy metal contents (As, B, Cd, Hg, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn and Ba) significantly higher than in the sand from Jaz, a locality with one of the lowest dose rates.  相似文献

The results of activity concentration measurements of natural occurring radioactive nuclides 238U, 235U, 232Th, 226Ra, and 40K in surface soil samples collected in the area of cities Tuzla and Lukavac, northeast region of Bosnia and Herzegovina were presented. Soil sampling was conducted at the localities that are situated in the vicinity of industrial zones of these cities. The measured activity was in the range from (8?±?4) to (95?±?28) Bq kg–1 for 238U, from (0.41?±?0.06) to (4.6?±?0.7) Bq kg–1 for 235U, from (7?±?1) to (66?±?7) Bq kg–1 for 232Th, from (6?±?1) to (55?±?6) Bq kg–1 for 226Ra, and from (83?±?12) to (546?±?55) Bq kg–1 for 40K. In order to evaluate the radiological hazard of the natural radioactivity for people living near industrial zones, the absorbed dose rate, the annual effective dose and the radium equivalent activity have been calculated and compared with the internationally approved values.  相似文献

文章对比分析研究了江西相山铀矿区和非铀矿区稻谷中天然放射性核素U和Th的含量特征。样品分别采自江西省相山铀矿区及远离铀矿区的抚州市郊丘陵水稻种植区。结果表明相山铀矿区稻谷中天然放射性核素U的含量显著高于非铀矿区的稻谷,铀矿区内稻谷中放射性核素U含量平均值是非铀矿区的5.30倍;但铀矿区内稻谷中放射性核素Th的含量却较非铀矿区稻谷含量低,仅为其Th含量的50%。另外,相山铀矿区内稻谷中放射性核素U和Th之间存在较为显著的线性关系,稻谷中放射性核素Th的含量随U含量的增加而升高。铀矿区内稻谷中放射性核素U含量显著高于非铀矿区的原因还有待于进一步深入研究,然而加强该领域的研究对于保证我国区域稻谷质量和食品安全是非常重要和有意义的。  相似文献

Twenty soil and 25 sediment samples were collected from the banks and bottom of the River Nile in the surroundings of biggest cities located close to it. Natural radioactivity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K have been evaluated for all samples by means of γ spectrometric analysis. The radioactivity levels of soil and sediment samples fall within the internationally recommended values. Nevertheless, high natural background radiation zones are detected in the Kafr El-Zayat region due to the presence of a fertilizer factory, and in the Rosetta region due to the presence of black sand deposits. The absorbed dose rate, the γ index and excess life time cancer risk are calculated. High values for some of the radiation health parameters are detected in the Kafr El-Zayat and Rosetta regions representing a serious problem to public health because the soil and sediment are used as constructing material for buildings. Furthermore, the isotope analysis of uranium for representative collected sediment samples via α spectrometry showed average specific activities of 18.7?±?3.6, 0.087?±?0.0038 and 18.6?±?3.8 Bq kg–1 for 234U, 235U and 238U, respectively. In general, these values confirm the balance in the isotopic abundance of U isotopes.  相似文献

In the natural uranium-238 decay series, pure beta isotopes such as 234Th, 234Pa, 214Pb, 214Bi, 210Pb and 210Bi are released. The few lead isotopes such as 211Pb, 212Pb, 213Pb and 215Pb are good beta emitters. In certain nuclear reactions of reactor these isotopes are released. These beta isotopes have maximum beta energies, which induce the bremsstrahlung radiation. The bremsstrahlung component of these beta isotopes has been traditionally ignored in dosimetry calculations. The shapes of bremsstrahlung spectra are a basic ingredient in the understanding and quantification of beta-ray dosimetry. The bremsstrahlung spectra produced by these high-energy isotopes such as 234Th, 234Pa, 214Pb, 214Bi, 210Pb, 210Bi, 211Pb, 212Pb, 213Pb and 215Pb in bone, muscle and teeth are studied, and the computed spectral distributions are presented. The spectral shapes are primarily responsible for variations in the shapes of depth–dose distributions. They are intended to provide a quick and convenient reference for spectral shapes and to give an indication of the wide variation in these shapes. The evaluated beta bremsstrahlung dose as a function distance for the studied nuclides is also presented. The efficiency, intensity and dose rate of bremsstrahlung induced by beta isotopes of natural uranium-238 decay series and beta-emitting lead isotopes in human tissues such as brain, breast, heart, kidney, liver, muscle, pancreas and bone have also been studied in the present investigation. The values of bremsstrahlung dosimetric parameters are low for pancreas, but they are high for bone. For all studied tissues these parameters are high for 234Pa, but low for 210Pb.  相似文献

A new HIGISOL chamber devoted to the study of short-lived products from heavy-ion-induced fusion-evaporation reactions is proposed. It enables, via the extraction of ions by means of a SPIG (SextuPole rf Ion Guide), to improve the mass resolving power by a factor 2.5 compared to the previous system using a skimmer-ring assembly. The gas cell was also equiped with an electric field for faster transportation of recoiling ions to the nozzle where they are ejected with the gas jet. The first results obtained both with a radioactive α-source and cyclotron beam will be reported. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Abstract

In this contribution, the various and fundamentally different uses and applications of isotope signatures (of both heavy and light elements) are discussed. Examples are given for the successful use of 87Sr/86Sr in uncovering fraud in wine trade. Also, in an experiment related to “Waldsterben”, 87Sr/86Sr analyses reveal rather unexpected responses of spruces and maple-trees to mechanical damage of their roots. In another study, from 206Pb/207Pb (and 208Pb/207Pb) analyses of tree growth-rings it is demonstrated that they do not accurately record lead burdens in the environment. This is contrary to current views on the subject of tree-rings as reliable banks of past heavy metal pollutions of the biosphere. Furthermore, new perspectives of applications of isotopes in biological tissues, including those of cosmogenic and nucleogenic origin will be shortly outlined.  相似文献

Problem of evaluation of spatial distribution of 137Cs in soil and of direct radiation impact of the Armenian NPP on population dwelling in the region of its location, on the background of global radioactive fallouts and aftermaths of the Chernobyl accident is solved. Content of radiationdangerous radionuclide 137Cs in soil on the territory with radius 50 km including the NPP area has been investigated. Points of monitoring have been chosen on the basis of analysis of meteorological data and calculation of the distance where emissions from NPP have maximal concentration in air. The obtained results agree well with the data of UN Scientific Committee of Radiation Action.  相似文献
