The Hopfbifurcation for the Brusselator ordinary-differential-equation (ODE) model and the corresponding partial-differential-equation (PDE) model are investigated by using the Hopf bifurcation theorem. The stability of the Hopf bifurcation periodic solution is discussed by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. When parameters satisfy some conditions, the spatial homogenous equilibrium solution and the spatial homogenous periodic solution become unstable. Our results show that if parameters are properly chosen, Hopf bifurcation does not occur for the ODE system, but occurs for the PDE system.  相似文献

A general theory for the study of degenerate Hopf bifurcation in the presence of symmetry has been carried out only in situations where the normal form equations decouple into phase/amplitude equations. In this paper we prove a theorem showing that in general we expect such degeneracies to lead to secondary torus bifurcations. We then apply this theorem to the case of degenerate Hopf bifurcation with triangular (D3) symmetry, proving that in codimension two there exist regions of parameter space where two branches of asymptotically stable 2-tori coexist but where no stable periodic solutions are present. Although this study does not lead to a theory for degenerate Hopf bifurcations in the presence of symmetry, it does present examples that would have to be accounted for by any such general theory.  相似文献

This paper investigates the dynamics of a TCP system described by a first- order nonlinear delay differential equation. By analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation, it is shown that a Hopf bifurcation sequence occurs at the pos- itive equilibrium as the delay passes through a sequence of critical values. The explicit algorithms for determining the Hopf bifurcation direction and the stability of the bifur- cating periodic solutions are derived with the normal form theory and the center manifold theory. The global existence of periodic solutions is also established with the method of Wu (Wu, J. H. Symmetric functional differential equations and neural networks with memory. Transactions of the American Mathematical Society 350(12), 4799-4838 (1998)).  相似文献

The general Brusselator system is considered under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. The existence results of the Hopf bifurcation to the ordinary differential equation (ODE) and partial differential equation (PDE) models are obtained. By the center manifold theory and the normal form method, the bifurcation direction and stability of periodic solutions are established. Moreover, some numerical simulations are shown to support the analytical results. At the same time, the positive steady-state solutions and spatially inhomogeneous periodic solutions are graphically shown to supplement the analytical results.  相似文献

The current paper is devoted to the study of the stochastic stability of FitzHugh-Nagumo systems perturbed by Gaussian white noise. First, the dynamics of stochastic FitzHugh-Nagumo systems are studied. Then, the existence and uniqueness of their invariant measures, which mix exponentially are proved. Finally, the asymptotic behaviors of invariant measures when size of noise gets to zero are investigated.  相似文献

The Hopf bifurcations of an airfoil flutter system with a cubic nonlinearity are investigated, with the flow speed as the bifurcation parameter. The center manifold theory and complex normal form method are Used to obtain the bifurcation equation. Interestingly, for a certain linear pitching stiffness the Hopf bifurcation is both supercritical and subcritical. It is found, mathematically, this is caused by the fact that one coefficient in the bifurcation equation does not contain the first power of the bifurcation parameter. The solutions of the bifurcation equation are validated by the equivalent linearization method and incremental harmonic balance method.  相似文献

A new procedure for analyzing the stochastic Hopf bifurcation of quasi-non-integrable-Hamiltonian systems is proposed. A quasi-non-integrable-Hamiltonian system is first reduced to an one-dimensional Itô stochastic differential equation for the averaged Hamiltonian by using the stochastic averaging method for quasi-non-integrable-Hamiltonian systems. Then the relationship between the qualitative behavior of the stationary probability density of the averaged Hamiltonian and the sample behaviors of the one-dimensional diffusion process of the averaged Hamiltonian near the two boundaries is established. Thus, the stochastic Hopf bifurcation of the original system is determined approximately by examining the sample behaviors of the averaged Hamiltonian near the two boundaries. Two examples are given to illustrate and test the proposed procedure.  相似文献

In this paper the non-linear dynamics of a state-dependent delay model of the turning process is analyzed. The size of the regenerative delay is determined not only by the rotation of the workpiece, but also by the vibrations of the tool. A numerical continuation technique is developed that can be used to follow the periodic orbits of a system with implicitly defined state-dependent delays. The numerical analysis of the model reveals that the criticality of the Hopf bifurcation depends on the feed rate. This is in contrast to simpler constant delay models where the criticality does not change. For small feed rates, subcritical Hopf bifurcations are found, similar to the constant delay models. In this case, periodic orbits coexist with the stable stationary cutting state and so there is the potential for large amplitude chatter and bistability. For large feed rates, the Hopf bifurcation becomes supercritical for a range of spindle speeds. In this case, stable periodic orbits instead coexist with the unstable stationary cutting state, removing the possibility of large amplitude chatter. Thus, the state-dependent delay in the model has a kind of stabilizing effect, since the supercritical case is more favorable from a practical viewpoint than the subcritical one.  相似文献

In this paper we studied a non-ideal system with two degrees of freedom consisting of a dumped nonlinear oscillator coupled to a rotatory part. We investigated the stability of the equilibrium point of the system and we obtain, in the critical case, sufficient conditions in order to obtain an appropriate Normal Form. From this, we get conditions for the appearance of Hopf Bifurcation when the difference between the driving torque and the resisting torque is small. It was necessary to use the Bezout Theorem, a classical result of Algebraic Geometry, in the obtaining of the foregoing results.  相似文献

We study motions near a Hopf bifurcation of a representative nonconservative four-dimensional autonomous system with quadratic nonlinearities. Special cases of the four-dimensional system represent the envelope equations that govern the amplitudes and phases of the modes of an internally resonant structure subjected to resonant excitations. Using the method of multiple scales, we reduce the Hopf bifurcation problem to two differential equations for the amplitude and phase of the bifurcating cyclic solutions. Constant solutions of these equations provide asymptotic expansions for the frequency and amplitude of the bifurcating limit cycle. The stability of the constant solutions determines the nature of the bifurcation (i.e., subcritical or supercritical). For different choices of the control parameter, the range of validity of the analytical approximation is ascertained using numerical simulations. The perturbation analysis and discussions are also pertinent to other autonomous systems.  相似文献

An investigation is presented of the response of a three-degree-of-freedom system with quadratic nonlinearities and the autoparametric resonances 322 and 221 to a harmonic excitation of the third mode, where the m are the linear natural frequencies of the system. The method of multiple scales is used to determine six first-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations that govern the time variation of the amplitudes and phases of the interacting modes. The fixed points of these equations are obtained and their stability is determined. For certain parameter values, the fixed points are found to lose stability due to Hopf bifurcations and consequently the system exhibits amplitude-and phase-modulated motions. Regions where the amplitudes and phases display periodic, quasiperiodic, and chaotic time variations and hence regions where the overall system motion is periodically, quasiperiodically, and chaotically modulated are determined. Using various numerical simulations, we investigated nonperiodic solutions of the modulation equations using the amplitudeF of the excitation as a control parameter. As the excitation amplitudeF is increased, the fixed points of the modulation equations exhibit an instability due to a Hopf bifurcation, leading to limit-cycle solutions of the modulation equations. AsF is increased further, the limit cycle undergoes a period-doubling bifurcation followed by a secondary Hopf bifurcation, resulting in either a two-period quasiperiodic or a phase-locked solution. AsF is increased further, there is a torus breakdown and the solution of the modulation equations becomes chaotic, resulting in a chaotically modulated motion of the system.  相似文献

We investigate Hopf bifurcation of an example reaction-diffusion system on a square domain with Robin boundary conditions; the Brusselator equations. By performing a smooth homotopy of boundary conditions from Neumann to Dirichlet type, we observe the creation of branches of periodic solutions with submaximal symmetry in codimension two bifurcations, although we do not fully calculate the branching behaviour. We also note that mode interactions behave generically on varying the boundary conditions. The investigation is performed using a numerical Liapunov-Schmidt reduction technique of Ashwin, Böhmer, and Mei (1994) and an analysis of Swift (1988).  相似文献

This paper studies the local dynamics of an SDOF system with quadratic and cubic stiffness terms, and with linear delayed velocity feedback. The analysis indicates that for a sufficiently large velocity feedback gain, the equilibrium of the system may undergo a number of stability switches with an increase of time delay, and then becomes unstable forever. At each critical value of time delay for which the system changes its stability, a generic Hopf bifurcation occurs and a periodic motion emerges in a one-sided neighbourhood of the critical time delay. The method of Fredholm alternative is applied to determine the bifurcating periodic motions and their stability. It stresses on the effect of the system parameters on the stable regions and the amplitudes of the bifurcating periodic solutions. This paper presents new observations of delayed AD (acceleration-derivative) controller in active vibration control and in bifurcation control of a Duffing oscillator. Based on the stability analysis of the linear delayed oscillator, it is found that combination of the two delays in acceleration feedback and velocity feedback has a significant influence on the stable region in the parameter plane of the gains. By calculating the real part of the rightmost characteristic roots of the controlled oscillator with fixed delays, it is shown that a delayed acceleration feedback with positive gain can work much better than the corresponding delayed negative acceleration feedback, which is used in classic control theory. For given feedback gains, by calculating the critical delay values, it is shown that a delayed positive acceleration feedback can result in a much larger stable delay interval than the corresponding delayed negative acceleration feedback does. As an application of these results to a delayed Duffing oscillator with acceleration-derivative feedback, a delayed positive acceleration feedback can be well used to postpone the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation in the delayed nonlinear oscillators.  相似文献

Since the ratio-dependent theory reflects the fact that predators must share and compete for food, it is suitable for describing the relationship between predators and their preys and has recently become a very important theory put forward by biologists. In order to investigate the dynamical relationship between predators and their preys, a so-called Michaelis-Menten ratio-dependent predator-prey model is studied in this paper with gestation time delays of predators and preys taken into consideration. The stability of the positive equilibrium is investigated by the Nyquist criteria, and the existence of the local Hopf bifurcation is analyzed by employing the theory of Hopf bifurcation. By means of the center manifold and the normal form theories, explicit formulae are derived to determine the stability, direction and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions. The above theoretical results are validated by numerical simulations with the help of dynamical software WinPP. The results show that if both the gestation delays are small enough, their sizes will keep stable in the long run, but if the gestation delays of predators are big enough, their sizes will periodically fluc-tuate in the long term. In order to reveal the effects of time delays on the ratio-dependent predator-prey model, a ratiodependent predator-prey model without time delays is considered. By Hurwitz criteria, the local stability of positive equilibrium of this model is investigated. The conditions under which the positive equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable are obtained. By comparing the results with those of the model with time delays, it shows that the dynamical behaviors of ratio-dependent predator-prey model with time delays are more complicated. Under the same conditions, namely, with the same parameters, the stability of positive equilibrium of ratio-dependent predator-prey model would change due to the introduction of gestation time delays for predators and preys. Moreover, with the variation of time delays, the positive equilibrium of the ratio-dependent predator-prey model subjects to Hopf bifurcation.  相似文献
